Description

Molly
Image
Molly is the more modest and less bloodthirsty of the Molly and Karato. When she's 'fighting' she is all business, otherwise, she's all play.

Alias. Well, I get called Host a lot. My inhabitant refused to use my name. I also get calls Molls.
Age. 20
Gender. Female, thank goodness. I'd hate to share a body with someone of the opposite gender, after all.
Height. Taller than many males actually. I'm six foot, three inches.
Build. Lightly muscles and athletic
Species. Human

Personal History

The worst of it happened when I was seven. There was this girl, who lived right across from where my street began. We played a lot as kids, since we were the only girls our age in the neighborhood. Normally, she was definitely in charge. I didn't know she came from a long line of demon hunters. I also didn't know I lived on this fault that kind of blended the demon and human worlds.

I mean I had seen shadows and shapes, and even actual forms sometimes, but I always wrote it off as my imagination. Mine has always been active enough it was a believable excuse.

One day, she just sort of...died.

No one was certain how. The doctors said her heart failed.

Heart Failure. Isn't that how most of us die? It seemed empty.

It wasn't even a week later hat my best friend and I felt this rush of power, and suddenly those vague shapes were much more clear. But only when we were together. Clearly our imaginations were just too strong, right?

So what if we could now call up these shining balls of energy in our hands. Obviously, it was just pretend. People couldn't do that.

My inhabitant is right. We were little fools.

We didn't have our roles figured out yet when the attack came. A week was not nearly long enough to figure things like this out, not when you were seven. And I always was a protective, if precarious child. It was horrifying this blood covered face launching attack after attack at my friend and I. I defended her the best I could.

When we finally stood still, to make out stand, words began to tumble from our lips, and our hands formed these shapes I still don't understand. I think the words sounded like nonsense to both of us.

But whatever we did, it got rid of he scary face.

As we explored our new powers together, that was the last we thought of it.

Even though we had discovered a rift in our world located directly under my friend's home, and underneath the train bridge near my house, we blew that first attack off, thinking nothing of it as we learned to harness and attack with the strange holy magic.

It wasn't until I 'joined' some friends in trying to call a spirit to talk to them from the Otherworld, as the tender age of thirteen, that the reality of the attack set in. I fully intended on foiling this groups every move you see. After all, they didn't know, not really, what they dabbled in.

I lost an entire day of time that day as Karato too my body over for the first time. I was told later I grinned wickedly evilly, before dropping to the ground and convulsing. Immediately the girl's ran from the locker room we had commandeered for this ridiculous act and to the teacher who sent one of them to the nurse and sis what she could.

They couldn't do much of course. Demonic energy and holy energy were never meant to reside in the same body.

When I finally regains control of my body, my best friend was there, her hand on her wrist as she funneled divine energy into my body. My Guardian, a spirit I had engaged only a year prior to guard me in my nightmare plagued sleep, had successfully fought off the attack with my backing. And I had struck a deal with a demon.

I told my friend, whom I owed my life, of the deal I struck, trusting her to help me insure it was followed. I would have no choice but to keep my body in peak physical condition, something I did anyway. And I wold learn how to better use my holy powers, rather than simply brute forcing my way through battles. In return, my inhabitant would cease all attempts at holding my body.

Unfortunately, I would have to pay a steep price for this. My inhabitant was allowed to have complete control f my body for every week up to 48 hours total. If my inhabitant had any need of my body past this, as long as it didn't interrupt my education or training, she could certainly use my body as she saw fit.

Primarily however, the body would remain mine. My inhabitant would not be allowed to make any changes.

I only learned my inhabitant's name the summer before I went to college. Her 'brother,' apparently the youngest of a large amount of siblings, contact me. He would see to my combat training from now on, though I would continue to seek a tutor for my holy powers and learn how to use them.

My task in life is clear. I must rid our world of the demon menace.

But what happens when that menace starts become your friend?

I guess when you strike a deal with the devil, you learn the price far too late.

For awhile, Karato and I had separated bodies, thanks to a shady mage and the help of a friend. But we could never be too far apart, or it started to hurt. Physically.

It wouldn't matter. In time, we'd be taken in, taught to walk the planes. But after that, well. Planeswalking doesn't pay the bills, not really, and Karato and I, we got a job with MCU, as demon hunting contractors. And then disaster struck. Karato had always been rough and tumble, and a little violent. For her, if you weren't bleeding, the violence was in love. she wasn't human, we couldn't hold her to that standard. But MCU did. Karato went to jail. There, she was killed, supposedly by accident.

I was spirited away to the Fae Realms, my memories scrambled, and given the task of lady in waiting, of sorts, to a woman there. She returned, but I was left behind, though not on purpose. I spent fifteen years, in human time in the Fae realms before I was retrieved, unaging thanks to the magic there. It wouldn't be until months after I returned that a presence I had not felt in too long was there in the back of my head, stirring once more, though weak.

Karato. She was back, and it was the matter of minutes to form a plan. We would find out more about why she had been killed, and the only way to do that? Join MCU, the enemy, and do my best to work my way up the ranks. I don't know when I'll finally have access to the files to find out why, or who. But one day I will. Until then? At least my coworkers aren't bad people. Clueless about the dangers of the organization, but hey. It's a bit hard to believe anyone would just kill someone for no real reason.

So begins...

Molly Bronson shook his hand with a bright smile. He seemed nice enough, even though he appeared to have a few problems. "A pleasure to meet you Ranpu! I'm Molly!" He seemed nice! That was always a bonus.

"Come sit down." She invivted, motioning to the table she had claimed.

Molly Bronson took her seat, across from him, once more. "Not much to say! I'm a student, though not locally. I just visit Wing City now, though I grew up here." She grinned wickedly. "How I survived is a mystery!" Living in the good area of town helped.

"What do you do?"

Molly Bronson shrugged. "A portal then. They pop up all over the place. It's because of leylines under the city, in combination with the two magic schools nearby. A build up of magic, creates instabilities in the dimensions, making it incredibly easy for portals to appear. Accidentally, or on purpose."

She grinned slightly. "Why else would so many wars be held in this city? Magically, we're a grand place. Technologically, you can get stuff here you can't elsewhere, because of the week dimensional walls."

Molly Bronson blushed. "Ah! Sorry, I forget. I'm a bit of a bookworm, and tend to forget not everyone is." She seemed genuinely apologetic. "Chakra huh? That's cool!" Chakra. She'd have to look into it.

"You must have been on a steep learning curve though. And I bet no one even thought to help." People, in Molly's experience, could be mean.

Molly Bronson blushed and nodded happily. "I know! I quite agree too." She did too. The more she went through, the more she learned, and wasn't learning the best thing in life? The woman though it over. "I'm glad you've figured a lot of it out."

"Hey! I'll be here if you need help now, so you're not so much an outsider anymore."

Molly Bronson grinned slightly. "When I'm in town of course! Like I said, most of the time I'm at university elsewhere." She waved a handed, not interested in explaining where when she wasn't certain herself, just yet.

She'd figure it out though! Then no one would stop her. "What do you do here, Ranpu?" She asked, curious now. He had been a Shinobi, but what was he now. She didn't see it translating well to everyday life in Wing City.

Molly Bronson grinned at him. "At least you have a job. Even if it is to travel. Besides, you probably meet all sorts of interesting people when you do travel, and do all sorts of interesting things." She grinned at him, happily.

"I'd love to travel more, but I really shouldn't be here on my own as it is. I'm afraid my...hm. My den mother of sorts has rather angered some people, and I was dragged into it."

Molly Bronson grinned. "Not really a den mother. I have no clue else what to call him...a sponsor into the college perhaps? It's the type you need a sponsor." What would she call him? Hm. It was a hard choice.

Ooo, muscles. Nice. Those were nice ones and everything. She grinned and touched his bicep. "You must work out a lot."

Molly Bronson cooed over Ranpu's clear strength, before going perfectly still. Vex? It couldn't be, could it? Of course not, but it never hurt to double check. She already knew Vexar was a competent fighter, from the sheer number of times that she had fought him herself, in training.

"That wouldn't be Vexar, would it?" How embarassing, talking to a training buddy of her sponsor. She'd never hear the end of it from her Inhabitant.

Molly Bronson grinned and shook her head. "Vexar doesn't go by an alias, trust me. I live with him." When she wasn't too angry with him. Lately, she had been upset.

"I'm glad then. Much less embarassing." She was too. The woman went very still suddenly, and stood abruptly. "I have to go! I'm terribly sorry, but, I do." Her heart was hurting, and she could feel something wrong with Karato on the other end. "Forgive me Ranpu. We'll meet again!"

She ran out the door, running for all she was worth, her concern clear.

Molly Bronson tucked a strand of lavender hair behind her ear and sipped at her tea, looking out to the street. It was so quiet! Then again, she reflected with a smile, that might just be her, in her mind. After all, she still wasn't used to being seperate from her former Inhabitant. Though they had gotten to the point where the two of them weren't quite so attached at the hip.

Eight hours a day in each other's arms and they were good. And those eight hours were spent firmly asleep, exhausted from both classes and training to be something she had no natural talent for. The things she did for knowledge. Ah well. Blue eyes glanced across the street once more and she smiled softly. No one she recognized, not even from her classes at Wing City U, where she no longer went.

The student glanced to the door as two people entered, and her eyes alighted on Lan's ears. Those were...fox ears? Was he a kitsune? She studied hima few momnets, rather intensely. Well, he lacked the tail, and didn't seem to have the other features of a kitsune. His eyes and nose were entirely the wrong shap, and his skin color was very wrong as well.

But he could be half kitsune! As she understood it, the hybrids in animal spirit lore only had ears, not the other identifying feature. And if his mother or father had been human, than that mean it was entirely possible. Mind working over time, Molly took her cup and moved to sit next to him, so she could study him more intently.

It honestly didn't occur to her to ask at all. She wanted to come to her own conclusions first. Perhaps he was a quarter kitsune? That would explain the distinct lack of even warped genetic traits. Though the ears still got to her. How very odd. Hm, her mind raced to figure out what combination could give an otherwise human seeming male fox ears, but kitsune was the only one that occured to her off the bat.

She needed her reference books.

Molly blushed brightly and stuttered incoherantly for a second before she forced herself to calm down. "I. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to stare." The blush suffused her face and ran down her neck as she glanced back and realized that Ethan was staring also. Oh great. How much more embarassing could it get.

Well, she might as well get conformtion on her suspicions. He certainly had the legendary charm of a kitsune. Though she wasn't positive that was a good thing, not by a long shot. "I hate to seem even more rude, but are you part kitsune?" She asked quietly, the words tumbling forth.

She couldn't help but glance back to Ethan, and smile weakly. This place. Well. Her former Inhabitant would love it. It seems to be a gathering place of attractive males.

She knew she should have just had tea at home.d brightly and stuttered incoherantly for a second before she forced herself to calm down. "I. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to stare." The blush suffused her face and ran down her neck as she glanced back and realized that Ethan was staring also.

This wasn't her night, Molly decided as she realized she now knew both of their names, but neither knew hers. She had just been so excited! But to find out that the ears were merely the result of a magical experiment gone awry --no doubt by one of the students at either of the magical academies, both of whom Molly blamed pretty much everything wrong in Wign City on-- was a bit of a disappointment.

"I'm sorry. My name is Molly." She answered with a smile. "I'd attempt to turn it back myself, but I'd rather not take the chance without adequately measuring the possible route in which to do so." She was doing it again. She really had to stop that. "Plus, my control of what I do isn't the best, so it's probably a bad decision."

Holy energy plus little to no training in it equalled unparalleled disasters when Molly actually managed to do anything but use it as a weapon. And she was no longer able to draw from the demonic energy that she actually knew how to use. This was the downside to her and her Inhabitant separating.

"It's a pleasure to meet you both, Lan. Ethan."

She grinned at Ethan's question and shrugged. "I had to get away from my sponsor, and Wing City is my home town. I'm just visiting for a few hours before I head back home." She admitted cheerfully. "Picking up a bit more of my things. It's a bit difficult to take them all, but I'm trying to get all my books to my new home as fast as possible."

It took time. Molly had an entire library, and there was only so much extra weight her transporter stone could carry. There was only so much extra weight Molly could carry! Plus, it gave her an excuse to visit a place where thigns made sense.

Sadly, as a native of Wing City, it did make sense to her.

Oo, he missed the bus? That sucked. Molly well understood routes like that. She hated them passionately. "Sorry you missed it. At least there's decent coffee nearby." Innocently, she suspected absolutely nothing about his spending the night with a friend.

Molly winced at the idea. "Urgh. No, no no. A holy fighter. Demon hunter really. Wing City is neck deep in demons of all power levels with bounties on their heads." Demons she had a distinct edge on. Considering her very touch could burn them, she simply infused her fists with more holy energy and whaled on them until they died.

Surprisingly, this was an effective tactic. Demons really never expected her to punch them. Launch the attack at them yes, but punch? It was a bit of a suprise. "I daylight as a preternatural biology student. You'd be amazed at how much the degree helps in demon fighting." She admitted cheerfully.

"But I don't neccessarily use magic. I think." She didn't know enough about it to even come close.

"So, psychology, medicine, and preternatural biology? I take it you two attend Wing City U?"

Molly Bronson grinned. "A freshhie! You must be good though, to already have any sort of work at the hospital. Though as I understand it they're a little short handed still." The massacre had been in the news. She had been horrified, but there was little she culd do. This was Wing City. She didn't kid herself. It was probably some psychopath that she couldn't do much against.

"Good luck in your med degree. You'll need. I hear rumors about how tough some of the professors are, and wouldn't want to have them at all." She watch Lan seem to shrink in on himself, and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"The point is to get rid of those thigns that could harm others. And the price tag helps. A bare minimum of ten thousand for a single weak demon." She admitted quietly. "I don't have to worry about bills for the rest of my life, if I choose. But...demons can hurt people. And I can do something about that."

Unlike with other things, and when normal people, humans, hurt each other. those she couldn't just kill and be done with it.

"I focus on my studies." She admitted sheepishly. "And my sponsor enjoys working me until I fall asleep, so I tend to have very little free time." she grinned. After a few seconds she glanced between them sheepishly. "I feel out of palce here. I need a nice safe part tiem job to fit in."

It was a joke. Not a good one, but she tried. She looked more than a little bit sheepish.

Molly lacked any of her usual weapons. She she went wiht her preferred weapons, and what she knew. Drawing slightly from the resevoirs of her partner, one of her fists gained a dark demonic glow. They weren't about to shoot in a bar. Too much danger of ricochet and both knew it. Instead, Karato covered Molly's back as the woman stood quickly.

"Sir, please help out!" Molly shouted the the priest, hoping he'd have any sort of weapon that could hit the demon. Damned thing!

"Fuck this shit. Molly. Do it." Molly hated doing 'it.' but if she had too. She obeyed her inhabitant instantly and pulled all her holy power out at once, and aimed it at the other demon. With a bite of her bottom lip she released it, sending it flying. The woman leaned against her demonic twin for balance.

Karato yelped as her 'twin' did so, and glared after the energy. HEr other half didn't understand refinement yet, so hadn't been able to released smalled than that.
