Neldeen Ayvazian

"There is no God. God is a delusion maintained by the ignorant, the weak, and the fearful so they or their children won't be afraid of the noise in the night. Religion has caused nearly all evil in this world, and ought to be stamped out."

History

Neldeen is a large, broad-shouldered woman, heavyset with wide thighs and a plump stomach, both of which she hides in loose-fitting pants and skirts. With a fair complexion, narrow eyes, and layered brown hair cut to fall in a neat circle around her rotund face, Neldeen's appearance is comfortable, motherly even. Though she has the stereotypical flabby arms and legs of the overweight, her hands and fingers are nimble, enabling her to perform minute movements necessary for laboratory work. She typically dresses in subtle, muted colors, and comfortable cardigans and wraps. She wears small, golden earrings, and long pendant necklaces. When working, Neldeen also wears a long white laboratory coat, gloves, laboratory goggles, and ties her hair back.

Neldeen Ayvazian was born in 1969 and raised in Burlington, Massachusetts, as an only child. The granddaughter of Armenian immigrants, Neldeen's father was a real estate broker and her mother an RNA. Throughout her childhood, Neldeen entertained dreams of becoming a famous singer. She attended a Montessori school from kindergarten through fifth grade, and then attended Lexington Christian Academy from sixth through eighth grade, returning to Burlington High for ninth through twelfth grade. Afterward, Neldeen graduated from the University of New Haven, earning a degree in biochemistry, by then having given up on her childhood singing dreams.

For four years, she had a steady relationship with one man, Kevin Surabian, but the relationship ended when Kevin was caught in the crossfire of a drug war and killed. Afterward, Neldeen retreated into a cynical single life, resolving never again to have a relationship with anyone else. She went on to work for the FBI's crime lab in Quantico, Virginia, where she worked mostly in DNA analysis and identification, occasionally consulting with the criminalists specializing in biology and chemistry, for instance toxicology. Out of the more notorious cases Neldeen has had the opportunity to work on, she was assigned numerous samples related to the Tahira Ali and Hataf cases.

Museveni's office was richly furnished with African wall hangings and sculptures adorning the walls and shelves, the furniture itself handcarved with intricate designs in a distinctly African style. He shut the door behind Vogel. "I think that's quite up to you, Mr. Vogel," he said in his deep bass, sinking into a seat directly across from the Tech Con CEO.

"What percentage of Tech Con's shares belong to the Caprican government?" asked Museveni, folding his hands. "Our laws prohibit the licensing of any commercial enterprise with over twenty-five percent of its shares belonging to government entities."

"And Miles Hagan?" asked Museveni, raising his eyebrow. "How has your company dealt with Hagan's fleeing to Hadante? How much of your company does he own or influence now?"

"Then I'll grant those licenses for operation, Mr. Vogel. We don't have many restrictions on trade here, only against child labor and having employees work in life-threatening conditions." Museveni opened an office drawer and fished around for some papers. "If you can just have your lawyers look this over, and fill in your company's name there, then get it back to me, that'd be great." It was two pages of normal-sized font, a surprising change from the usual bureaucracy.

The baby-face criminalist grimaced as her feet crunched over the snow, ignoring the long since dulled aches in her legs and shoulders from the nearly week-long trek across the Arctic. Wisps of dark brown hair peeped from under the fur-lined hood of her coat, framing the Armenian woman's angelic features carved over flesh that was white with numbness and cold. She could not feel her fingers, and her lips felt parched, stiff, unyielding. Neldeen Ayvazian trudged forward, keeping her eyes mostly on the bright, glaring snow ahead of them, when she suddenly heard a thunderous crack. "Shit," she hissed, her weight no longer supported as she found herself falling, scrambling wildly for a handhold, anything, as her eyes widened and she fell, slamming her collarbone into the ground as Neldeen attempted to break her fall with her hand, suddenly whimpering as she cradled her wrist. "Shit."

"I can't believe I broke my fucking wrist," Neldeen hissed, the pain from the break slowly ebbing as the nanites did their work. She clambered awkwardly to her feet again, pushing the hood a few centimeters away from her face. The long trek had taken a toll on the criminalist, who'd been sent from New America. Formerly of the FBI, Ayvazian had always done her best work alone, and thus she was here unaccompanied though without much in the way of instruction. She brought her wrist to eye level, analyzing where she'd broken it as her collarbone throbbed. Neldeen lowered her hand a minute later, watching the Aschen soldiers melting the ice.

"Great time to figure out I'm probably not fucking needed," Neldeen shouted up to the folks above, shaking her head as she moved closer toward Mollem and his soldiers. What use was a genetic criminalist in what looked more like an archaeological dig? There was a sudden growl, and Neldeen realized she hadn't eaten all day. She swore under her breath again.

"It's not Terra," Neldeen said, shaking her head. "Trust me; I've seen just about every model of ship ever produced on Terra at one point or another, and it's--no. Just, no." She noted with pleasure that the nanites had successfully eliminated the pain in her wrist. It was one of the benefits she'd found that came with Aschen citizenship. All the medical happiness one could ever want. Most of it, anyway, if not all of it. The criminalist dutifully moved forward, shoving her hands now into the pockets of her double-lined coat. She'd long since ignored the fact that her breath was visible. It was cute for the first ten seconds. After that, not so much. Ayvazian's lips twitched. "And would you stop fucking shouting? It echoes in here." She leaned over the opened hatch, looking down after Mollem. "Not sure I want to get down there. Not even sure why the hell I'm here." She glanced at the folks behind them, Reichkopf and his men, eyeing them with a healthy bit of wariness.

The others had passed her and dropped through the hatch, so Neldeen heaved a sigh and slipped over the edge of the hatch and down into the bowels of the ancient ship. She followed the lights and sounds from the others, folding her arms tightly across her chest as she trudged forward, her large frame nearly filling the narrower hallways. "The hell is something with Anquietas writing doing in the Artic?" she asked, her voice echoing through the corridors as she spoke. Ayvazian narrowed her eyes. She hadn't been back to Terra in several years, and the current state of affairs was jarring, to say the least. Still, it felt strangely comforting to once again stand on her homeworld.

Neldeen followed the voices into the larger room, possibly a bridge or command center of some sort, finding herself staring at a glowing green screen. "And of course there's a computer," she muttered. Where was it generating its power from? Had the ship's power sources simply continued to produce power over the course of, what, centuries? Millennia? "Not to burst everyone's collective bubbles of optimism or delusion, but I highly doubt we're going to suddenly produce a password." She stood in the doorway, a bit behind David, leaning against the frame.

"You FLEW this ship?" Neldeen arched her eyebrows at Mollem. "Fuck me. This IS ancient." She folded her arms tighter, watching the Sire as he entered the password, her amazement growing by the second along with a healthy dose of cynicism. "Really, I've got to know; what's on this ship that we don't already have in the imperial fleet?" The criminalist found herself genuinely curious, if unwilling to explicitly admit it. She very nearly forgot the cold. Ayvazian made a mental note of the layout of the bridge in case she were ever to find herself in a similar situation or location again. Maybe it wasn't so horrible, being sent along with this crazy ass reconnaissance mission.

She would be on Terra for the time being. It was odd to be back after almost a decade gone. The plump, broad-shouldered woman had been here for two months already, and she expected to remain on-world for at least another few. She'd never been to Wing City's famed bar, but now was good a time as any to ignore rocket fire and explosions outside the city limits and meander into a place of drunken revelry to have herself a good, strong beer. She pushed the door to the bar open and stepped inside, eyeing the others with distaste. What kind of scum populated a place like this? Neldeen Ayvazian waded past the people sitting near the door to approach the bar, leaning over the counter as she shouted, "Hey. Can a woman get a fucking beer?"

Neldeen Ayvazian took the beer from Zekil and tilted it backward, swallowing a large swig of the cold liquid before returning the glass to the counter and looking about the bar, her eyes momentarily catching sight of Raphael approaching the counter. "Fucking hobos, ruin a good night for everyone. You get a lot of that here?" she asked the bartender, settling uneasily onto one of the bar stools, glancing at the printed menu mounted on the wall behind the counter and ignoring the electronic ordering machines. Neldeen caught sight of the TVs playing some weather channel, and a number of newsstands bearing a smattering of reputable newspapers and soft-porn magazines in adjacent racks, on the other side of the Gambit's infamous bounty board, which had a bizarre collective of newer notices and crumbling, decaying paper with the names of some poor souls etched upon the pages. "You ever have to kick anyone out the door?"

"Well you certainly look the part," said Neldeen, turning her nose up at Raphael. "And you smell it, too. Gods." She took another long swig of beer, inching farther away from Raphael as she spoke, her eyes sliding up and down the man's face. A few moments later, a spark of recognition flickered in her eyes. "Hold on a moment... You -- there's -- have we met somewhere before?" Neldeen squinted at the man.

Neldeen Ayvazian stared at Raphael, tilting her head to the side. Though he did look familiar, she couldn't quite place him in memory. She was sure they had met at some time, though she couldn't quite recall. Blonde hair, blue eyes... Neldeen shook her head and drank more of her beer, downing about enough that there was half of the liquid left. "We must have, I think," she shook her head again, "but hey, I'm getting drunk now, so maybe now's not the best time to rehash old memories."

Neldeen stared at Raphael, but did not move or flinch as he spoke, only eyeing him with a cool distaste for his sudden violence. "Never trust a stranger in a bar, dipshit," she said, before swallowing most of the last of her beer. She eyed him with intent inspection, the feeling that she knew him growing the longer she stared at the man's unkempt face. What was it about this man -- perhaps it was what the Invictus man was saying that made it click for her. But when she was at the bottom of her glass, Neldeen finally realized who this was. "Raphael fucking McGregor," she breathed.

Well. Wouldn't this prove to be interesting. What the everloving fuck was the self-proclaimed God-Emperor of the Aschen doing faking amnesia in Gambit's Bar in the middle of the night? Neldeen watched Preston and the Invictus soldiers who'd approached the seemingly panicked McGregor for a few more seconds before shaking her head and reaching for a new, dark green wallet, leaving a few Cubits on the counter for the bartender to take for her beer. "Hey, thanks for the beer," she shouted over the counter, and then turned for the door, edging away from Raphael even as she couldn't help but continue to stare at the man, beginning to wonder if what seemed a ruse of amnesia might have some chance, however small, of being real.

The expanse of the void was endless, and he just wanted a beer, anything good and strong, and it didnt just matrialise out of nothing. So how to get out of the endless expanse of a rather beautiful endless flower meadow was actually rather nice. It was not often he got to really just wander a flower meadow, and as beautiful as it was, there had to be a door or a window or something.

Finally finding what looked like a door frame, with no visible door per sei, he tried going through it, like it was a opening in a fence, and promptly smacked into a door panel with a hard thud. The dragon saw he couldnt fit through the door but it was infact a door. Dust was on the ground among the beautiful flowers but he felt he should not disturb the dust, it was after all possible that someone had distributed family ashes there. And just being there made the dragon shift form to his human asize and get to his knees, bowing three times towards a nearby small pile of void dust before getting to his feet.

Turning back to the door frame he found the4 handle. But something made him halt. Where there others looking for the door that he had just found ?

Fesna looked at Kragum as thescent of flowers drifted from the source of the sound. She broke away from Kragum and not one step later was suddenly surrounded in an endless meadow of flowers. Her breath caught in her throat as she realized the beauty of the place, but also the infinity of it. Then, it hit her.
