Description

Image
Born inside a test tube in space during a war. Next was recruited and trained by an unknown human to explore deep space. Later in Next's life he discovered a marker that infected a ship and changed everything. After all of Next's squad's death, Next went mad and reactivated the ship to fly it into the sun. But before Next flew too close to the sun something strange Sucked him out of his ship and through space.

Another one of Next's capabilities is seeing things for what they truly are, even people.
Physical description: 6ft. 4in. And that's all you need to know unless he reveals otherwise.
Next also wears a special armor that makes him quite a nuisance to kill

Next also has a rechargeable Stasis module: slows down the object that it hits and cannot be used on living objects... Well that's what he was told anyways... I'm sure it could do some damage to people... Or could it have some strange unknown benifite?
As a paranoid space explorer Next carries two weapons:

SWS Motorized Pulse Rifle

The SWS Motorized Pulse Rifle is the first true firearm that is Designed for maximum stopping power, it uses electric coils to accelerate rounds to extremely fast speeds and is a favorite of military troops and security forces on ships around the universe. Primary fire is a rapid fire burst of ammunition, which can be used for long range targets. Secondary fire is a shotgun, allowing you to hit multiple enemies at once and providing excellent crowd control.

211-V Plasma Cutter

A tool designed to use ionized gas and plasma energy to chip pieces off boulders so they'll fit in smelting tubes, the Plasma Cutter is frequently found within the tool boxes of miners across the galaxy. Its primary function allows a short, accurate long range energy blast, while its secondary fire rotates the blade ninety degrees, allowing you to fire vertical or horizontal shots.

So begins...

Everett sat on a corner, a cigarette hanging from his mouth, a guitar sat on his lap and he strummed it a small melody coming together. He received a few dirty looks from the lowlifes that passed by, but he just smiled a half smile and continued to play. He wasn't for singing, but he loved music. Everett finally stood up, letting the weight of his guitar weigh on one side so that as he stood, it rested on his back. He made his way down the dirty street, removing the cigarette from his mouth to blow the smoke away.

He could see the gleaming buildings above, from where he stood, then he could see the dealers and Merchants, this area had all sorts of lowlifes trying to scrounge up little money to survive. No one made it far in this business. He knew it was illegal to be back here but he didn't seem to care so much, he would be heading back to his home soon.

Next stumbles out of an alyway and falls to his hands and knees, almost throwing up in his helmet... Almost. Now to figure out where he was... Was this heaven or hell? Nah he could feel too much. "Ugh." He grunted as he got to his feet and scanned the area for people or his enemy... Nothing here. Wait... There were some lowlifes giving a guitar player some dirty looks, maybe he could consult with him? First Next sits down on a crate and does a diagnostics check on his suit, then a weapons check. Everything besides his stasis module seemed to be in working order and if there weren't any Necromorphs here that shouldn't be a problem. He gets up and slowly aproaches the guitar player, quite enjoying the tune, this came as a surprise to him. "Hello?" He asked curriously in high hopes that he wasn't hostile.

Everett heard a voice from behind, standing up straight, he turned around. He put the cigarette back into the corner of his lips. What he saw before him was a large man in a metal suit, he furrowed his brows, sweeping a piece of his hair out of view of his red eyes. He repositioned himself before finally saying something. "Can I help you?" He asks softly, shuffling his platform boots.

Everett hadn't been spoken too in a while. This was certainly new. His look of confusion was replaced with a thin smile, he took the- well, what was left of a cigarette out of his mouth and he stepped on it, leaving it there, nothing more was expected in this side of town. The pale faced man continued to smile softly, his arms which matched the tone of skin, soon folded against his chest.

"You mind telling me where I am?" He asked nicely and grins under his helmet... Not like it mattered because no one could see the smile but he did it anyways, his posture was the kind you would see a broken man with however... The sad broken man without a home or a family. "I'm sorta new around these parts and I've recently seen some weird shit." Chuckles happily and looks around, stretching.

Next hasn't spoken to anything that can talk back in a while. It wasn't new but it was nice... He took in Everett's facial features and found them interesting... Pale smooth face with something that looked like a bandage going across his nose, earrings and an attached ear lobe, semi long hair for a guy... Then again... He hadn't shaved or had a haircut in a while either. And... Red eyes? The hell was with the eyes, it was kinda scary... He liked it.

"Well, if I didn't know any better I'd think you were looking to get killed out here," Everett kept the smile. "But with that suit I guess you're okay." He looked around at the dark damp back allies. "You're in the Blackout Zone," he finally says. "What are you drunk or something?" He asks.

"Anyways, it's illegal to be back here, if you're caught you'll be locked up, so try being discrete why don't you?" He speaks quickly keeping his pale arms crossed as he rocked on his heels.

"I'm not drunk... Just a lil messed up." He was talking about his mental state and he was most indefinitely not drunk. "Thanks for the advice." He chuckles and turns around to walk away, stopping before out of earshot. "So if its Illegal to be back here why are you here?" He asked with a terrible amount of curiosity.

Why would someone be back here if its illegal, was the government just that bad enough out of this Blackout Zone to make people hide here or was this place much worse than he thought?

"Because I live here, and I know what times the guards pass through. The city is no place for me, I would not be socially acceptable in Illumene, so I stay here," he says to Next. "I don't want to be under the heel of the government. Even if the laws are strict down here, it's worse in the city. Well, at least that's my opinion."

Everett watches as a rat scurries down the edge of the curb, a sigh leaving his mouth, then his red eyes trailed back to the suited man. "What's under the suit?" He asks bluntly, standing up a bit taller and squinting to see if he could see through it, which he came to the conclusion was almost impossible. "Are you human?" Everett asks again. Humans weren't uncommon around these parts, certainly not, but with all the gear the man wore, he was definitely from another planet.

The red eyed and black haired man took the off the flannel jacket that hung around his waist and put it on. It was obviously too big on him, but helped because of the quickly dropping temperature. Eventually, Ever could just barely see his breath.

Next smiles brightly and stares back. "Nah I'm just a big machine with a personality chip... Yeah I'm human. what are you?" He finds the information on the laws of the city he was just given acceptable... Perhapse this place would be safer than it would be out there for his type. Next could learn and memorize the patrols and knew how to fight rather well, this place should be a piece of cake compared to the last ship he was on. "And what are some of the laws?" He began pacing, finding this topic rather intriguing and hopefully worth his time.

Everett thought. "Well firstly, I'm half elf, but this is generally a human planet, populated by a race called Isirians, though it has its fair share of illegals. You're standing on the capital of the Aurora." Ever stomps his boot in a gesturing way. "It has fairly standard laws, weapons are not be had in public, their illegal, same goes for magic, though the humans here are quite ignorant to the subject. Actually the humans are quite ignorant to a lot of things, I tend to believe the government likes to keep that way."

Everett looks over at what seems to be an old broken street light with a clock hanging from it; the clock had rusted but it still seemed to have working parts. "Other than that, if you plan on going to the city avoid any big buildings that might have surveillance- Scratch that - Don't go to the city at all. This planet does not take kindly to immigrants, you need to be a registered citizen to get anywhere." Everett sighed. "You also need a Isirian ID, but you can buy those around this area."

Everett looked back at the clock, his look slightly nervous.

Next notices the glancing at the clock and wonders if this guy had anywhere to be and why, but deciding to focus on more basic things that preferably won't get him killed."heh... Yeah no I'm keeping my weapons. So uh... what kind of currency does this planet take then?" He shuffles nervously and wants to take another weapons check but decided that could be considered hostile or rude to this strange red eyed half... He said elf right? Yeah... Half elf. "And what's your name, if you don't mind my asking?"

He opens up something that looked like a contacts list on his HUD and found that most of his contacts from his list were listed off as dead missing or out of range. "Hm..." He deletes all of the dead or missing and looks back up at the half elf, expecting some information and honestly wanting his name because having someone that has data on an area that you can just find is always rather nice.

Everett smiled. "Well the currency is a coin system called Drachmali.. Or some god awful name like that. But anyways, I'm Everett! Everett Avenell. And you are?" He extends a pale hand in welcoming, giving the clock another glance. They would have to get out of here soon.

The allies were already clearing out and people were heading back to their hideouts. It was about this time the patrol unit guards would come round and check for trespassers anyone they could catch back her would be thrown in jail for days, and if you were illegal, you'd be shipped out to Cyro.

"I'm..." New place new name sounds good so... Something simple perhaps? "Next... Name's Next." He happily and firmly shakes Everett's hand "so... Why you keep glancing at the clock?" Curiosity gets the best of him and he has to ask now. Slowly releasing his grip and glancing down the street to see some of the police force, marching towards them silently. "Never mind... Run?" He wastes no time waiting for a response and begins to quickly walk away.

"Be quiet!" Everett whispers walking ahead of Next and around the corner. "Follow me." Ever leads Next around and through the labyrinth of alley ways and streets, which he knew like the back of his hand, but you could always here the footsteps of guards. Everett was never this late for the patrol clearing, the new guy had kept him to long.

The rounded a few more corners until they saw a door that seemed to be barred up. He smiles softly and takes out a key, glancing behind himself as he does so. The bars were merely attached to the door to make it look locked up. Everett entered the apartment space which was actually very nice and clean looking.

He let Next in and quickly locked the door behind him. Everett then took off his guitar and rested on the stand. "Just keep your voice down, they'll be passing by in a few minutes." Everett turned out the light and made sure the shades were concealing the windows. He then sighed and took a seat on the bright red couch in the dim of the room.

Next just stands in the corner, silent and impressed with Everett's quick reaction to the patrols... "Heh" he chuckled quietly, now having a map of this area pulled up on his HUD and having Everett's apartment marked down. "So... You know this place really well I take it?" He wondered if Everett had any quick ways to earn money and shrugged the thought off, deciding it would be much easier to map the place out first.

He leaves the corner and walks around the room, looking at the items there but not touching anything. Also keeping Everett in his line of site at all times, just in case.

Everett looked over at the robot guy standing in the corner. It almost only seemed like a metal statue stood there in the corner doing whatever it was he was doing. His gaze then traveled across the dark red room which matched the couch almost perfectly.

"Yeah, I have lived here for a while now," Everett replies. "the first year was the hardest though." He crosses his legs lazily and his eyes get drawn back to the metal suit. "So what do you look like?" Ever asks, finally standing up and heading towards the small working kitchen towards the end of the room.

He pulled out an electric to which he plugged in and began to prepare tea.

"I don't remember..." He answers simply and goes back to his corner, watching Everette but not once turning his head. It's been so long since he's removed his helmet and gotten a good look at his face that he doesn't even know anymore. "Uh... Brown hair and eyes?" Yeah... That's all... "So what's up with your eyes?" He asks curiously, Next has been stumped by the red eyes from the very beginning. They sorta reminded him of the monsters of his past but these eyes seem more tame.

Everett seemed a bit confused that Next had no idea what he looked like, it made Everett want to remove his suit on princepal.... Of course, not in a creepy way.. Good thing he had been facing towards a wall, because the thought had made him blush and dismiss the idea. It was one of those things where you hoped no one could read your mind.

Everett flipped on the ketal and one he was sure the bush was gone he turned around and faced Next's direction. "I mentioned I was half-elf to you, right?" He squinted to remember. "Yeah, I got the screwed up eyes side," he motioned towards his sparkly red eyes.

"So elfs have red eyes?" Shrugs and chuckles. "Okay." Next just stays in the corner, watching like he wasn't even alive. For some strange reason he found Everett's house rather calming and this was strange for Next, he couldn't remember the last time he was calm. Always running from something in the dark and always fighting something more terrifying than a steel statue of a man. His mind rushes out of that dark place and back to topic. "So tell me a little bit about you." He turns his head and looks at the couch, wondering if it was stolen. This place is the slums after all.

Everett looked over at him, using his arms and momentum to lift himself onto the counter to sit, his legs kicking back and forth. "So what? You wanna here about my lovely and glamorous street rat life?" He asks, the corners of his lips rising into a stupid smile. "Honestly nothing to exciting has happened, my parents died," he puffs his cheeks and gives a small shrug, his smile fading into more of an 'I'll get over it' look, "and I moved, illegally, so I'm living in the only place that doesn't have surveillance." Everett folded his hands in his lap. "I have probably lived here longer than any other street rat."

"Your life top mine? You look like you've had some adventures," Everett urges Next to tell of his own stories.

A firm fake smile spreads across his face even though no one will see that or the sadness in his eyes. "... Nope." He lies through his teeth. "So... What's the easiest way to earn myself some currency around here? I would love to earn some quick cash." He really wants to get out of the slums with a fake citizenship as soon as possible and hopefully earn himself a weapons permit when he does.

He steps out of the corner and goes for the couch, gently setting himself down and relaxing in the soft cushiness of it.

"Well, technically you're illegal, since you didn't come in through the entrance, so to speak. The have ship docks and the works, so don't even bother going to the city. Well, I make small change from street preforming, and occasionally I like to make little gadgets the dealers around here like, but I'm not very skilled at that. I can't get a job or anything, I would if I could get away with retina scanners around the businesses," he huffs and rests his head on his hand the kettle promptly going off.

He gets off the counter and turns around to pull out a mug and make himself some tea. "So what are you good at then? You look like an engineer or something, err, technician? Either way, you could build things in the scrap yard, they have some pretty awesome metal scraps. So uh.. You want some tea or are you gonna keep that mask on?"

"Eh.... I'll keep the helmet on..." Chuckles nervously and nods. "So you think the patrols have passed by then?" Next was getting terribly nervous about this conversation and even though talking to Everette in the safety of this apartment was comforting he had the urge to be on the move again. He hops onto his feet and walks to the window, waiting for an answer and fully aware the blinds were closed... Kinda nice just to stare at the black. It reminded him of home.

Everett's gaze followed the metal suit after he had turned around. "They should be, but you might want to give its few more minutes," he replies, " make sure that they have made it all the way down the block."

Everett frowns more to himself, he could tell Next want to get on his way, and he knew it was probably best that he did, no need drawing anymore attention to himself. So he sucked up the from and gave in to a few minutes of silence, merely not having anything good to say, and also not wanting to start any new conversations and keeping the traveler. After a few more moments of nothing to say or do but sip at his new tea, Everett finally told Next it was probably safe to go now, the guards had probably locked up the exit of the Blackout zone and had left.

Next nods a brief thank you to Everett and takes off for wherever and leaves what his people called credits on the by the doorstep on the floor, hoping that they either would transfer into good money out here for his host or make nice fancy decorations... Doesn't matter what they do Next was gone and around the corner, heading for the scrapyards to build something of use and make a good living down here... Possibly repair his stasis module and arm the street rats with line guns just in case they were caught by the patrols? Maybe even make a local militia and set up these "Dead Zones" as their own territories where the people could be free and without government. Well it looks like Next's story was just beginning anew and it would be a wild ride all the way to the end.
