Koren humphed at Ashara's sugestion of an alternative to his mask, she knew how he felt about the subject but would try humoring her in the future. Before he could leave, Ashara stopped him and spoke her mind. Koren listened but he wasn't buying what she was preaching, if she truly was as balanced as she claimed he wouldn't have felt the waves of the Dark Side rolling off of her at times. He nodded a conformation but more towards hearing what she said, rather than agreeing with her. Koren did let both sides flow freely through him but they harmonized within and created a balance within him. The fact Asrhara couldn't see that was a testament she had fallen quite far...too far.

Exiting with the others the conversation began to flow freely. “It’s funny how she hates masks, not that mask can hide who you are when someone knows you well…” Phora stared at Koren, face grim and eyes like glass. "We all wear masks Phora, in one form or another life requires us to. But in the company of friends such masks are not necessary." Koren said, subtly reminding her of the times when he didn't. As they left Koren returned to his lab and informed his handmaidens of the impending assignment. Several would be standing by some distance ready to provide tactical and after operations assistance while he and the others did their job. After insuring all experiments would survive without him he left to meet the others in the lobby. Again using the force to create a perception filter around the non order members and avoiding the camera's Koren made his way to the lobby where he managed to catch Jalee talking about him.

"If you would rather we return to the ruins of our headquarters I would be happy to oblige your request. Also please speak louder, I would love the public to know whom is under the mask.” Koren said, his deadpan tone masked by his mask's voice filter but non the less it was quite obvious what the tone was. Koren looked to Ashara, “Ashara, if you would be so kind I would prefer any apprentices we find taken alive for....'rehabilitation'.” Koren requested. It wouldn't be the first time he converted members from opposing forces. Over time Koren had refined his persuasion techniques and was the person for such tasks.

“Whatever you say, you’re in charge, Master Ashara” Cruze said with a half bow, backing up and leaning against the wall, waiting for the other. Jalee and Phora walked up complaining Koren being late. He glanced down at his holo for the time. “Well, he’s not exactly late yet. It has been 10 minutes, but as long as he gets here within the next minute.” Cruze said, “Plus he doesn’t seem like the alarm clock type…” He trailed of. To be honest, Koren didn’t seem like an anything type.

Cruze looked up when he heard Koren arrive and say some sarcastic comments to Jalee. “Wow, didn’t think you had that in you buddy. Glad to see you’re at least a little human in there.” Cruze said with a smirk as stood up from the wall. “Alive? If they turn and try to fight us, why should we show them mercy? Just saying, if one of them ends up on the other side of my blaster after trying to kill me, I won’t feel sorry.” Walking forward to rejoin the group. Cruze stretched his arms above his head. “Ah… Well, what are we waiting for? I’m ready to go and have some fun.

Cruze looked up when he heard Koren arrive and say some sarcastic comments to Jalee. “Wow, didn’t think you had that in you buddy. Glad to see you’re at least a little human in there.” Koren looked to Cruze, “Happy to have done so. I may wear play the role of a void but I am still human.” He said as Jalee replied, “My dear, unlike others among our group I do hold respect for your talents and a living being. But do remember I while many among our Order and some outsiders know of my duality the majority do not. If what you say were true, I would not be free to move about without the mask. You may call me as you wish but I ask, not demand, you not say me true name in public please.” He asked her politely.

Koren was not like the other hard nosed, stuck ups in the order and respected other beings regardless of race. He didn't know why Jalee didn't like him, but he would not respond aggressively with her unless necessary. She would either warm to him in time or she wouldn't. Koren would only get aggressive with her if she crossed a line with him. Ashara quickly brought them to order, explained her plan and moved them on to their destination. The lower levels were the unlawful side of the Corucant most people never say or even thought about. If crime was the most rampant anywhere it was here, right under the noses of the Jedi and Senate. Koren despised what went on down here but there was not much he could do about it for now. That said he had his own secret base of operations down here, built off the books with his own funds and located on level 47. Besides his residence at Republica 500, FOB 47 was just a place for Koren to practice his experiments away from the eyes of his peers.

He took great lengths to hide it from everyone but his inner circle. It was created as safe house in case things with Ashara went too far to be redeemed and Koren needed to go into hiding for any reason. Funny enough, Koren had established an operations outpost for their order just twenty levels above as a cover for his. Mostly it was used to test new droids in secrete was the cover reason for it's existence.

Upon their arrival it didn't take long to find The Cave and Master Obsidian, whom had been waiting for them. Koren had never had any trouble with master Obsidian, in fact the two worked quite nicely, when he wasn't drunk off his behind. Koren did have to admit for someone drunk his use of the force to sober himself up was impressive. Koren listened to Ashara give Obsidian a firm lecture on the state of his life and his apprentice.

“Ashara does have a point master Obsidian. As a fellow college and a friend I am concerned with your mental and physical health. As you know I help train the apprentices of other masters, yours is among them and he has expressed concern for you. I would be remiss as his teacher and your friend if I didn't come to help you.” Koren said. “I would be willing to aid you in your recovery if you would be willing to try. Sometimes the journey to recovery is best walked with a companion by your side.” he added. But before he could recover men in black robes came marching in demanding his head for not paying them back credits he owed. It didn't take long for them to be outed as old sith, one whom Ashara knew very well. Right as he took out his communication device intending to radio in her whereabouts, he couldn't move his fingers. Fear stuck his as he couldn't move. "I had expected you to have gotten stronger." Ashara said. "My friends will take care of your subordinates and I don't think they need lightsabers to accomplish that."

As Cruze, Phora and Jalee went to work Koren stayed by Ashara as two of them moved to attack Ashara, "Only two, how disappointing." Koren said as he used the force to grasp the two men, lifted them up into the air and tossed them out of a door into the back alley of the building where no one would see them, "Even more so. Though perhaps I can get at least a little bit of a challenge out of them." Koren said as he walked calmly after them, taking his two lightsabers and attaching them together. Outside the two sith met him in kind with their sabers drawn and more than eager to run him through. Koren activated his double bladed lightsaber and the battle commenced. Much to his discontentment his opponents were well trained, but hardly at the level Koren desired. So was the case he was holding back and giving them a handicap just to prolong the duel. Koren could have handled them blinded and with his bare fists and still wouldn't have even a quarter of the challenge he was looking for. After an even six minutes of playing with his new friends Koren became board and swiftly disarmed them and used force lightning to render them unconscious.

Looking at them Koren snarled as he deactivated his saber, “Hardly a challenge, not even worth the effort.” He said as he detached the two sabers and replaced them on his belt. A sound behind him caught his attention and Koren turned around to look for it. He felt another force presence, another sith perhaps? Swiftly he closed in on the target whom had trapped themselves at the far end and found not a sith but a girl. She was young, no more than fifteen and covered in dirty rags Koren hesitated to call clothes. It was apparent she was one of the downtrodden whom lived on this level, “Well well, what do we have here?” He asked. “Please, please, don't hurt me! ” She cried as she pressed herself into the wall, as if trying to phase through it. “No, I won't do that. However, since you just saw what happened I can't just let you go can I?” Koren said as he reached out for her, “No!” Suddenly Koren felt himself being thrown back as a blast of raw force knocked him down.

Koren was in shock, he had felt the force in her but he didn't think such a powerful attack would come from one untrained in the force. The blast had only thrown him because he had his guard down but Koren knew from experiencing it she had great potential, “M'Lord!” A female voice called out as several of his Handmaidens, whom had remained hidden, revealed themselves, weapons drawn and pointed at the girl, “I..I..I'd sorry! Please, it was an accident!” The girl stuttered in an attempt to avoid further punishment. But Koren only held interest in the girl, it was the first time in a long while since he had take such an interest in a force sensitive. “Oh that was no accident little one, not at all.” Said as he stood and walked slowly towards her. The girl shivered in terror, putting her hands up as if to shield herself from a beating. But Koren just stopped in front of her and used one finger to gentle turn her face towards him, “You just so happened to be in the right place, at the right time.” He said before waving her hand across her face.

Her eyes fluttered closed as he used the force to put her to sleep and she collapsed into his arms, “Take her back to the 'residence', accommodate her, but do not let her leave. Perhaps the force has given both of us a second chance.” He said, “And gather up the sith, take them to the lab. They'll prove useful for the 'experiment'.” Koren said. “As you command M'lord.” The handmaidens said as they took the girl and the sith as he went back inside, his mood much lighter than before.

It was a deception, all around them it was deception. All was peaceful and calm, tranquil and harmonious, but to those like him who knew better it was all a facade. Beset on all sides by unseen threats, predators on the prowl for prey for the taking. The forest was beautiful but it was home to dangerous creatures and deadly experiments. Years of hunting had honed Cayden's skills and his instincts and he knew better than to let his guard down for even a second. Especially considering he was hunting in experiment central of all place. Yet Cayden did not fear any experiment in the typical manner. Even as he prowled through the undergrowth with his Dire Wolf companion his fear only served to make him aware of the dangers around him. The hairs on his neck standing up, the paranoia of being watched, sudden movement out of the corner of his eye, they all kept him alive by making him cautious.

Enervis was the most dangerous place on the planet for and was a prim hunting ground for apex predators such as experiments. But unfortunately for them Cayden was an equally deadly predator in his own right and right now he was on the hunt. Even now he was honed in on a set of tracks heading towards the coast, a pair of somethings by the looks of it. Whatever they were they were bipedal judging by the tracks, but that didn't mean they were human oh no. You don't hunt experiments as long as Cayden did without knowing they came in many different types and verities, that included humanoid. First step, verify, then go from there was what the situation called for. However as he and Iris, his Dire Wolf companion, moved forward a low rumble shook the ground, causing bot hunter and companion to crouch low, eyes darting about looking for the source. Soon it stopped, only to restart a few moments later before fading away.

Cayden and Iris held their ground, cautiously waiting for something to attack them. But nothing came.....save for a thundering roar several minutes later which split the air, shaking the trees and spending birds and animals scattering. Cayden held his rifle at the ready, Iris growling in warning at the unseen threat. In the distance trees falling could be heard and it was no doubt what ever made that roar was on the move. But the sounds of falling trees grew distant and it was apparent it was not coming for them, “Moving inland, away from us. Don't know what that is but as long as it stays away we'll leave it alone....for now.” Cayden said aloud. Looked to Iris who had stopped growling but had her fur standing on edge, “Come on, lets find where these tracks are heading. Maybe we'll fill our quota early.” Cayden said as they resumed the hunt.

Ten minutes or so later the pair followed the tracks to the open coast which was a far cry from the enclosed forest. Keeping to the tree lines the two moved along the beach searching for their prey. This was made more difficult as the tracks went out onto the beach but to remain concealed the two had to stay within the tree lines to take advantage of the cover it provided. But soon, Cayden spied two figures down the beach, no doubt the targets they were looking for. Using the scope on his rifle he peered down the beach and could make out two humanoids walking. He couldn't see any distinguishing details to tell if it they were human or experiment which was a problem. Cayden would have to get closer to be able to tell and each step closer not only took him out of his primary zone of combat but also increased the chance of being discovered. But Cayden wasn't about to risk shooting at possible hunters or even civilians for that matter. It was either get closer and verify or leave a potentially deadly set of experiments on the lose.

In the end there was no debate over the course of action. Backing a bit further into the trees, Cayden and Iris continued to stalk their target in an attempt to get closer and discover if they were friend, or prey.

"Fifteen minutes tops." Tahra said in response to Aaron's question. She looked determined as she ran the leprechauns directions over and over again through her head. Her sense of direction had always been accurate, but her memory was not. Still, she felt confident she could get them there.

Fifteen minutes passed and after walking down several less than appealing streets, the iconic dome of The Palace sparkled into view. Tahra smirked proudly. Her mother did have excellent taste. The doorman eyed them somewhat warily as they strolled up to the entrance, but Tahra flashed him a winning smile. He was an older gentleman, and seemed suddenly flustered by the younger woman's charisma. He fumbled momentarily with the door before opening it for them.

"Welcome, Miss." He said through a well-trimmed moustache. "Sir." He greeted Aaron behind her, tipping his hat. Tahra felt like they had stepped back in time when they stepped through the door.

Beautifully and intricately carved wood adorned the walls, railings and furniture. It was like a classical painting in here. The floor gleamed in deep green marble glory. The lobby was high-ceilinged and honey tinted im the setting light. Their sneakers sqealched on the polished floors as they made their way to the front desk. A young man, dressed sharply with slicked back hair and a suit jacket smiled at them as they approached.

"Checking in." Tahra chirrped, putting her id on the counter. It wasn't long before they jad the roomkey and were heading upstairs in the gilded elevators. Out of habit, Tahra checked her now useless phone. Still no bars, even with the free WiFi in the hotel. She pocketed the cell phone, sulking, as the elevator doors pinged open. 3rd floor.

The inside of the halls had less of the majesty of the main lobby and seemed to have been upgraded according to modernish comforts.

"313, 313..."Tahra chanted looking for their door as they ambled down the hall."aha!" The door was just toward the end, and the electronic key beeped pleasantly as she pulled it through the lock. The door pushed open easily and the automatic light triggered on, revealing a small, modern room with one large window on the far wall. The furnishings were modern and clean in stark contrast to the roaring, twenties gradeur of the lobby. Muted colors, tufted headboard...one king sized bed. Tahra took this in without flinching. True, he was a man she didn't know well...but she had also slain a monster with a sword that day..a little light spooning with a stranger was nothing to fear.

Tahra felt herself relax and with a contented sigj, she flopped into the bed om her back, her feet dangling off the end of the bed.

"Ohhh...yeeess...this is heaven..." she groaned contentedly. "Should I shower first or do you want to?"

Mycah was taken aback by her response. It was a knee-jerk reaction, He was sure of it, but still, it was nice regardless. He quickly shifted form as Hotaru did. She did it with such ease. He was proud. He rolled his shoulders as Eida spoke, freezing him in place. He fought the urge to glare. He was the flight risk? Says the woman that essentially raped him that was hardly fair. He opened his mouth to speak but stopped when she called Hotaru over trotted over happily and Eida smiled. He kept his comments to himself, that conversation was not best for Hotaru. It may not end well and she shouldn't be present. Eida spoke again and Mycah's ire abated quickly at her question . She might have been being catty but that was fae nature. He shouldn't have taken it so personally. "I would be honored." He said softly, with a nod, gesturing for her to lead the way to camp. He'd always known where the camp was and had been working with Sunday and Simon for a while with refugees. He avoided Eida like the plague, He wondered why Sunday had always insisted he speak to her and now he knew why. Sunday was probably sworn to secrecy and being fae she could not go back on her word but tried to tell him anyway. Clever girl, he thought. Had he not been so stubborn, he would have come ages ago.

Benji yawned and rubbed at his eyes, still thick with sleep. "God, it's so bright in my room. What the hell? He thought. As he rolled over, reaching for the covers he must have kicked off in his sleep. When he didn't find them, he opened his eyes to search and froze. The was not in his room. Not at the university or at his childhood home. Where am I? He thought as the last haze of sleep started to lift from his mind as he looked around him. Several familiar faces lay sleeping nearby and the events of the previous night began to come back to him. They had left Sarah's memorial party to do a private celebration somewhere else. If he remembered correctly, Heather's house. Which was way bigger than he had expected it to be. Beside him were multiple cups, bottles, and cans of various alcohols and judging by the taste in his mouth, he had been drinking. Thankfully, it hadn't been too much. He had been in control and he could remember the night before. Best of all, he wasn't hungover.

Which is more than could be said for the person vomiting in the nearby bathroom. He could hear the retching from his place on the couch. He thought about going to investigate, but thought better of it. The last thing he wanted when waking up in a strange place was to have someone walk in while he was loosing his last meal. Instead, he laid back down against the back of the couch and enjoyed the (mostly) quiet morning. Or at least, what he figured was morning. The sun was a little too bright to be sure. For all he knew it was noon. He thought about last night, spending time with Willow again. How... almost natural it felt to be around her even after all these years. To hear the sound of her laugh again... it brought him all the way back.

But for all he knew, there was nothing left there for her like there was for him. He didn't even bother to search the small crowd of sleeping bodies for her peaceful face. Instead, he rose from the couch and went to investigate the noise that has started in the kitchen. He found a thin girl rummaging through the refrigerator. "I don't know what the standard protocol for burglars is, but I don't think rummaging for food is on the list..." He began to say and trailed off as he realized who was standing before him. His mouth went dry and something twisted in his gut. "Rebecca."

Valoria City was a place that looked as beautiful as the name made it sound. It was a city that quickly built itself up to rival some of the larger capitals in the nation. Unfortunately, soon after its rise Valoria City seemed to fall at a much quickened speed. Many gangs and organized crime syndicates sought to claim the new city as territory. Then the fights for territory began. The city saw a drastic rise in crime in a short amount of time that even police had trouble with containment.

This, of course, sparked the rise of meta-human superheroes to also give their try at Valoria City. But their powers coupled with the plethora of weapons the criminals they faced had only resulted in catastrophic collateral damage. It wasn't long before the people of Valoria City had enough of the so called "superheroes" and laws immediately went into effect to put a leash on any and all meta-humans.

Any meta-human that entered the city received a bracelet that kept track of their location and use of powers. Any excess use resulted in violation of the law and they would be treated as a criminal. If a meta-human was discovered without a bracelet would immediately be escorted to be issued one if they haven't received the item yet. If it was found out they were already issued a bracelet but didn't have it on their person they would be escorted back to their home to retrieve it.

As time progressed so did Valoria City. The surge in violence was drastically reduced and contained, primarily, to the slums of the city. Technological advances were being made due to different organizations moving to the city as well. It wasn't long until the bracelets were produced for everyone and was used as a form of ID, credit card, money transactions, gps, watch, etc. If it could be done electronically to interact with society then the bracelet could do it. The mayor also thought it would make it seem like the meta-humans weren't just being singled out as well. That way they would be a bit more comfortable in Valoria City.

Now, Valoria City is one of the largest cities in the nation made up of several districts. And as the city grows so does potential criminal investments. And this time containment is barely holding them up. A lot of the common thugs graduated to organized crime. Working for more money and with bigger risk. Sometimes things went well. But when they didn't, the whole district would feel the consequences. And lately the citizens have been concerned with rumors of meta-humans being a part of these crime syndicates as well...

In less than a moment, the rusted old blade was in Berenice's hand, and she hunched down as if to pounce right up there to violently greet whatever unseen creature spoke to them. The words, or rather, the fact that they were words - not just guttural growls and moans, prevented her from doing anything rash however.
Her eyes sought his form amongst the branches. There, a vague shape, wreathed in cloth. He hid well, her trained eyes and ears, distracted though they were, had not detected his approach. Or had he been there all along, waiting?

"And who be ye, who offers us this boon from hidin'? Mind y'that I'm not impartial to numbers that'll bolster our chances, but I'll want a name from y'before I offer spit'n palms."
Remembering her female companion though, her gaze went to Adet, eyes narrowing. "An' speakin' of, I don't think I got yer name either. Berenice, y'can call me by."
The dull knife slid back into its resting place, but her hand kept near its worn handle.

The winter solstice celebration created a sense of urgency in the House of Alarian. Servants rushed to cook, clean and serve their young master, whom still hadn’t risen from his bedroom chambers. At the hint of a celebration, Luca knew better than to be seen by any of his servants, or guardsmen. They’d inform his mentor, Raul, who would seek his attendance and force his cooperation. It was still late in the afternoon, when Raul sent the guards to search for their missing master. Luca slipped past a group of guards and a handful of servants, his eyes planted on the exit. The wide double oak doors would move with a brief swiftness, but not enough to cause a disturbance. Perhaps the wind had sent the door ajar, but it wasn’t enough movement to startle the servants into action. They continued to gossip about his disappearance in the entryway and the servants made their way to the kitchen. Raul rose a brow at the sight of the doors movement, but knew that the master wouldn’t be foolish enough to risk such a maneuver. Guards lined the exits and entryways, so it would be almost impossible to escape. With that thought in mind, Raul listened and heard a loud crash at the southern exit. He cursed and moved with a hastened pace. Guardsmen abandoned their post and investigated the scene.

Feminine, petite in stature, Luca had the appearance of a young fragile noblewoman. He created the momentary distraction and watched as the house went into an uproar over the noise. His mentor Raul, would be on the constant hunt for him that afternoon and evening, only to find him in his office later that night. He’d be furious with him, but this was not the first time he attempted a disappearing trick. His mentor knew that he despised public events, even if he had gained custody after his parents death, that didn’t mean they would always see eye-to-eye. More like an uncle, Luca failed to come to terms with his parents death and the strain of his newfound responsibilities. The House of Alarin was known for producing mages, or sorcerers. Since he was the last of his father’s legacy, it was up to him to uphold the family reputation. The winter solstice wouldn’t be performed without his presence, but he wanted to relax and feel a zest for life before he took on his responsibilities.

After he escaped the prying eyes of the guards and servants, he moved with a fierceness through the Caleria woods. As a frost elf, he could blend in with his scenery and dispel an aura of protection about himself. The forest animals reacted to his presence, which was a curse, rather than a blessing.

At the sound of the chopping wood, he knew he had come to Drift’s quaint hideaway. It amused him to see the man work, especially when he used that strength of his. His eyes drifted over the stature of the man and he realized he was no longer using his glamour to be hidden. Drift was familiar with Luca and his antics, but it wouldn’t be long before the guardsmen came looking for him.

The scent of fresh baked cookies drew him closer to the entrance and he peered inside with a look of innocence.

“You baked for me! How sweet of you…” He commented and laced his words with honey. Luca had a habit of making himself at home, regardless of Drift’s indifferent attitude toward him. His feminine charm usually won people over, but Drift had been harder to reach. “Since I’m here, you might as well entertain me..” Luca said with an arrogant tone and removed his cape with an articulated motion of his hand. It fell whimsically on the back of his chair and he swiped the dust, or debris off the seat before he sat down.

“Do I need to bring one of my best servants down here? I thought you were going to clean this place up….” Luca’s ice-blue eyes narrowed with a critical gesture. Drift attempted to live well, but he didn’t understand his desire for the woods. Nature always made everything seem so filthy. “Oh, btw. You might want to put a glamour on this quaint home of yours. The guards are trying to drag me to that disgustingly boring celebration.” Luca explained and began to unbutton his dress shirt. The shirt felt like it was confining him, but he knew that Drift wouldn’t mind.

Jamarreon was picking at the rubies of his pomegranate as the King invited them to eat. He watched silently as the king was acting as if they were all children. He chided, then offered a solution. Even Dante Aquarius seemed sick of it, or he was just sick of everything. He was not surprised by his angry outburst.

Jamarreon would be personally annoyed if the king didn't acknowledge he was the ruler regardless of gem acceptance or not- after all he was a ruler of something otherwise he would not be seated. Anger seemed primarily directed at Pisces even though she looked completely innocent. With pink hair and accused of whoring.

The twins spoke up in defense of Pisces, which surprised Jamar a bit, as Virgo looked ready to say something especially nasty. He understood their premise, yet he also understood Dante. He couldn't imagine if his counterpart was Aries, because he knew then it would be a disaster. He imagined Dragan would let the world burn before working with Jamar, but he might be wrong.

I could be wrong about quite a lot of things, he mused. All the other rulers in spite of Dante were perfectly willing to work together as Faust put it, with tied hands.

Jamarreon swallowed a gulp of wine and looked around the table as he finally spoke, "I understand that I must work together with the Ruler of Virgo, and that I am willing to do despite her being an enemy. I do not wish to see my kingdom in ruins and I would hope neither does she," he briefly indicated the lady sitting across from him, he turned to the king "but you of all people must know after all of us strengthen our gems, we will all return to warring. I have unfinished business warring with Dragan. This ritual will never take away my will to fight for justice for my people. Even if both sides stop, I will not."

He popped more pomegranate rubies into his mouth, and reached for the poultry that could be chicken. Eating cow was against his people's religion, and he may as well have forgotten the taste. His appetite had returned and he was damned if he wasn't going to take advantage of the tremendous amounts of expensive food in front of him.

Clover didn't know why Erika was here. She had specifically told Sera not to reveal her location to anyone specifically for this reason. Clover's heart clenched painfully as she hid her face behind her hands, hoping, praying, that she had just banged her head on the fall and the person before her was not Erika, but simply a figment of her imagination. No matter how many times she blinked, the visual did not waver. The kitten swallowed hard, knowing it would have come to this sooner or later. Bravely she sat up from her feeble position on the floor and took the seat across from Erika, heading her warning.Yes, it seemed Clover was going to need to be much more careful with who she trusted. The kitten shook her head, it was clear that Erika had already figured out her identity. "No pretending." Clover said quietly, unable to muster the courage to lift her shaking hands from her lap. "You already know who Ghost really is, don't you... M-er-Erika," this girl was not her Master anymore, after all.

"Clover did not send letter," the kitten took in a shaky breath, regaining her sense of calm. She was Ghost, if she couldn't face her old Master, how could she ever protect the citizens of Min-City? The kitten propped her elbows up on the table, appearing more at ease. A maid scurried forward, pouring Clover a glass of specially made catnip wine. Erika received regular alcohol of course, alongside the glass of water. "Clover is not a mage... but is an alchemist now." If only Erika could see her alchemy room, the beautiful garden that grew outside, the wonderful bedroom with its secret switch that would reveal the compartment with her hero outfit.

"Clover is not on anyone's side," the kitten replied, swirling the wine in her cup before taking a delicate sip. She picked up her fork, cutting into the delicate meat pie that sat upon her plate. "Clover does not believe in sides anymore. Ghost fights to protect, does not matter if human is mage or not." The kitten smiled wistfully. "Ghosts fights for justice, to protect the human's smiles." The same thing that Erika used to believe in, or had at least told Clover when the kitten had first taken up the mantle as Tiger Lily. She was no longer a little kitten with a bell around her neck that was afraid of navigating the human world. "Clover is not a stray anymore." It was Erika's fault she had been a stray in the first place, that she knew what pains and suffering meant, the endless hunger that had gripped her stomach as she slept naked and cold in a box to keep warm.

"Clover knows what it is to suffer, Clover does not want anyone to feel the way Clover did when kicked out by Master." Her hands curled into fists around her utensils. Their plates were cleared, dessert was brought out. A spoon cake with a side of vanilla ice cream and a little cup of whipped cream. "That day... Clover has thought about it a lot." She confessed, looking down at her plate. "Clover did not want that... what Aries did... Aries tricked Clover, promised he would teach her to be human." Her shoulders sagged, it wasn't Aries who had taught her though. In the end, it had been her own Master. "Clover has learned a lot now." The kitten finished her food and pushed back, seat scraping against the tiled floor. She stretched, her ears picking up the sound of Julian and Cookie conspiring outside the door. The kitten shook her head, she should have known those two were up to no good. "Clover will show old Master around," the kitten said casually. "Then, must go... Ghost has job to do."

It was all her fault, if Yui had given Luna a better body, if she hadn't made a mistake when fixing her soul, none of this would have happened. Visiting hour was over, her family left, a nurse sitting with Yui to make sure she didn't fall asleep. The few times she nearly dozed off, the child was given a dose of adrenaline to quickly wake her up. She sat shaking and crying afterwards, wanting to be with Luna and Ren, able to feel their distress in her heart. She couldn't go to them now, not all disoriented and confused. It was most definitely a concussion, which meant that for the next two weeks, she wouldn't be able to take part in the more physical aspect of idol training. She was to take it easy, to be on bed rest for the most part while her head healed.

Ren, luckily, had escaped with a few stitches and a sprained ankle. He too, would need to take it easy for the next two weeks. Their poor compatriot had not fared quite so well, considering she was stuck inside of an egg. When morning came and Yui was no longer on brains bleed watch, the child was at last allowed to doze off, curling up into a ball with Nemi, who the paramedics had recovered at the sight of the crash. Ren rolled in on a wheelchair, bringing his breakfast tray with him so they could at least eat together. "I knew you were called the baby star, but I didn't think it was cause you were an actual baby." Ren rolled his eyes, setting his tray down.

Yui eventually stirred, sitting up in bed. Ren had changed her while she slept, knowing Yui probably hadn't been allowed out of bed all night. "Ren, what are you doing in here?" Yui asked, speech slightly slurred. In the other room, they were poking rods into Luna's egg to see if they could figure something out. "I came to eat breakfast with you stupid," he said, uncovering the tray, the smell of French toast and bacon filling the room. "You okay?" Ren asked with a frown, "you don't look so good."

"-" Yui opened her mouth, her eyes rolling up into her head and her body seizing. "Yui? Hey, this isn't funny. Stop it, stop!" Ren wheeled himself out, speeding down the hall to the nurse's station. "Help, there's something wrong with Yui!" Two nurses dropped everything and ran, a code purple being called over the loud speaker. Ren wheeled himself back to the door, his view blocked by several nurses who worked around Yui to stabilize her. At last it stopped, the rods being taken out of Luna's shell. Ren was shaking in the door, his gaze locked on Yui's limp from. Her ena was crackling, her hair was askew as though she had been struck by lightning.

She almost seemed dead, the way her breathing was so shallow. "Paging Dr. Leo and Dr. Medicus," a nurse rang using the phone in the room. Nervously, Ren wheeled inside. Was it a brain bleed? Had it been too early to allow Yui to fall asleep? Was it some unknown head trauma caused by the accident? No one suspected that it could have been linked to Luna turning into an egg. "Yui, please wake up. Hey, Yui," Ren begged, scared. "Ren, go back to your own room," Leo ordered as soon as he arrived, setting his kit down and getting to work. Ren rolled out, the door shutting behind him. "Please don't break again."

Xanthe immediately regretted her earlier comment as a pack of Grimm burst through the tree line and began charging toward them. She quickly pulled Daybreaker out of its holster and took aim as Onyx powered up his semblance, issuing orders to her and the others. “I got your back, oh fearless leader!” As Nyx and Yari took their positions, Xanthe zeroed in on the nearest hostiles and started firing. Her shotgun’s range wasn’t nearly as good as Nyx’s rifle, but it still packed a hell of a punch.

The first shot grazed a Beowulf’s shoulder, sending it tumbling to the ground but not killing it outright. The second was cleaner, a headshot that hit squarely between the eyes. For the most part, though, she settled for aiming anything black and white, keeping the growing red figure in the middle of the swarm out of the crossfire. Team ONYX had been in enough scrapes like this that she’d gotten pretty good at avoiding friendly fire whenever Onyx rushed in to draw enemy attention - which was constantly. Normally she wouldn’t worry, but with his gauntlets still on the fritz, he didn’t have his usual defense advantage.

Xanthe managed to take down three of the creatures and injure several others, but it didn’t even seem to make a dent in the pack numbers. Scowling, she lowered her weapon and shifted it into sword mode, pulling dust bomb from her pack. “Onyx, get clear!!” Tossing the bomb into the air, Xanthe lifted her sword and swung hard, slamming the broad side of the blade against the device and sending it flying into the fray. The moment it made contact, it burst into an explosion of sparks, sending bolts of lightning to any creature unlucky enough to get caught in the blast radius. It wasn’t nearly enough to kill them all, but it would at least stun them and give both Onyx and Nyx an opening to attack.

Clover's legs shook with anxiety, she didn't want this, she didn't want to be this man's pet. "Erika, help," Clover managed to squeak, trying to get the message across that this wasn't her own doing. She hadn't left Erika willingly, the drugs in her system had made her wander, she hadn't wanted to become Fearsome's pet, all Clover had wanted was a peaceful existence as a cat, but instead, everyone else's will was imposed upon her. She whimpered when Erika was forced to touch one of her mounds, wondering if this was what the rest of her life was going to be like. Assaulted again and again until when became a shell of the cat she used to be. Or perhaps her heart would give out first from the stress.

A crowd gathered to watch the fight, Clover pulled to the side as she screamed, trying to get them to stop. She didn't want to die down here, she wanted to see the sky again, she wanted to roll around in the grass. "Stop, stop fighting, Ragdoll does not want Nightbloom to hurt!" Her eyes widened as Erika slit her own throat, both her and Fearsome collapsing. "No, no, please, Erika, don't leave Clover." She crawled forward, her only salvation now with a black cage around her. The management came over to break things up, taking Fearsome to be treated. They couldn't touch Erika yet, not with the cage of darkness wrapped around her.

"Erika," Clover whispered, hoping she could hear her. "Please don't go. Clover.... Clover loves you." She whispered, heart constricting in her chest. Without Erika, Khyria too, would disappear. The kitten was pulled away, the area cordoned. Clover did not get to see whether or not the cage disappeared. She didn't know if Erika lived or died, but her world quickly fell back to hell.

No one teamed up with her for the three against three. On her own, Clover lost within seconds and was sent to the loser's circle. She spent most nights in an anxious bundle, trying to hide, trying to relocate Erika's cave. She was shedding from the stress, her chest pain growing worse every day. It was never safe for the kitten anymore. The winners preyed on her one after the other, Clover unable to defend herself.

It was during a match against Supernova, the new number three, that it happened. Clover used her shield to defend herself from a blow that would have crushed her to bits. Her chest pain grew, her right arm beginning to hurt. The kitten keeled over, unable to breathe. "What's this? Ragdoll is down!" A ref ran forward to see what was wrong, the kitten twitching strangely. "Medics! We need the medics!" He called, her heart, at last, giving out.

The ceiling suddenly burst, spectators screaming. Boots crunched across gravel, the Underdark falling into chaos. "Look at this, some sort of subhuman, the first I've ever seen. What'd they do to you pretty?" A hand came down, stroking her head. Something hit her chest over and over, forcefully restarting her heart. "Gather the mages, round up the survivors. The Underdark is being shut down. These fights are illegal, the conditions these mages are forced to live in her inhuman and the way the treat the subhuman is irresponsible." Clover was lifted onto a stretcher, oxygen forced under her nose. She was alive, but just barely, her heart spaspming erratically in her chest with no coherent rhythm.

"Treat the mages for their injuries, transfer all those in the infirmary to the lab. Round up the ones called the management and execute them." The boss of this strange organization said, kneeling down once more to lift Clover up. She couldn't breathe, it felt like she was choking on her own spit.

Through the haze, Clover could at last see the sky. She felt a breeze on her face, the smell of salty ocean air hitting her hard. The Underdark had once been a glorious wandering island where those from all over sailed to witness the matches. Now, it was little more than a pockmarked building on a sinking ship.

Drift held tightly onto Luca as he was embraced. He understood Luca on an emotional level that most could never hope to know. He could always see past Luca's pride to his raw, true emotions. Drift was scared too, but he had something now that he never realized he had before, something that had been there for so long. Now he had Luca's love and there was nothing that could ever break that bond.

"Everything is going to be alright." Drift said softly. It was like there wasn't a doubt in his mind and the words came out of his mouth as though they were facts, there was no question to them.

Drift thought back to when his mother had showed him his own family tome and the way she explained the power within it's pages. Her words came drifting back into his mind as he listened to Luca's heartbeat.

"There are some who think that some magic is good and some is evil, but this is not the case. Magic comes from the heart and the only difference between a spell and a curse is the heart of the person using the magic. Every spell in this book has the potential for being a mystical thing of beauty or a vile source of suffering, it's all in how you use it. You have a good heart, Drift, I know you'll make good choices should you ever need to use this." That was the warning his mother had given him when she gave him the family tome. He was going to be doing this for love, not selfish reasons, so he had faith that things would be alright.

It was quiet in Luca's room, they had to be quiet, but that didn't stop various thoughts from running through Drift's mind. When he wasn't focusing on his task that was approaching soon, he admired the room and admired Luca as well. Drift was sure he could stare at Luca for days and never get bored. He imagined all the things they might do in this room, all the things he had always wanted to do with Luca that he was too scared to bring up in the past. He was kicking himself mentally for not saying something to him sooner. Even now the only way he had the nerve was when Luca had confessed first. Luca was much stronger than him in a lot of ways and Drift was grateful for that.

"After I get the book and get close to the castle, I'll use a cloaking spell like I did at my house. It should give me plenty of time to get to your room through the back entry before it wears off. Make sure to keep your door unlocked so I can slip in unnoticed." Drift explained his part of the plan. It was more like thinking out loud so that he knew what he was going to do, but it was also to help reassure Luca that he had a good idea for getting back to the castle. Drift's biggest concern right now was making sure they had everything they needed for the ritual. He remembered seeing the Conception for a Love Misunderstood spell in the tome when he was younger, but never thought he would ever be able to use it, so he didn't think to check what was needed for the ritual.

At that moment, a servant walked in without so much as a warning. While Luca was accustomed to this action, he knew that she'd report the incident to Raul and he didn't need that. He made eye contact with the confused maid and looked toward Drift. She knew something wasn't quite right, but she couldn't put her finger on it. The young master never had friends over and from what she could see, they were more than being friendly.

She began to excuse herself and stepped closer toward the exit. Luca knew the young maid, who wasn't even in her early twenties. Her family depended on her job for their finances, since her father was a known drunk in the community. From what he had learned from Raul, this particular servant was neck deep in debt.

Luca smiled at the next thought he had, but he wondered why he hadn't thought of it before. Young masters always had extra women in their beds, so why would this idea be any different?

The tension in the room grew thicker by the moment, the fear in the maids eyes apparent. She reminded him of a spooked doe, just before the bullet, or arrow went straight to the heart.

It was endearing, but her weakness repulsed him. She'd be an easy target to exploit and manipulate. He motioned for her to come closer to him and Drift. He raised a hand toward Drift, to prevent him from speaking too soon. Drift might attempt to protect the young woman, so he needed to nip that action in the bud, or his plan would go to ruin.

"Cassandra, sit with us. I'm sure you can take your afternoon break now. Raul won't miss you and you look exhausted." Luca got up and poured her a cup of tea, his movement calculated, his presence exuded a false warmth in her direction. After they exchanged pleasantries, he finished his cup of tea and explained the real reason why he wanted her to stay.

"I'm sure you know that this man is more than just a friend of mine. Truth is, I'll be announcing our engagement tomorrow at the festivals." He set his scalloped teacup down on a nearby table and made eye-contact with Drift and Cassandra. "I understand your family is in debt, Cassandra." Luca said and watched her reaction to his words. She was adorable when cornered and frightened, which showed promise for a good mother. Her hands made wild gestures when Cassandra attempted to defend herself against the rumors, but he put up his palm again to silence her words.

Luca got up and went to admire her features. She was of the elven sort, but a mixed blood race. If they put some work into her, she could have been mistaken for nobility. Her hair was a deep chestnut brown and her skin a sun-kissed glow. Her figure was thinner than he'd of liked, but he knew she was a hard worker. There was muscle, although not defined like a wood elf.

"We need an heir, Cassandra. I think you would be the perfect candidate to be our surrogate." He said, his voice emotionless and his body posture unmoved. Luca raised her tearful face by her chin and admired her beauty. It was a bit like looking at potential stock. She was flawless, save for her emotional hindrance. Perhaps Drift wouldn't mind that part of her.

Luca sat and crossed his legs in a delicate mannerism. He wondered what Drift thought of his proposal to the young woman. The contract hadn't yet been explained, but he was sure that Drift understood where this was going. The man was smart, unlike many of his servants.

"If you have our Heir, I will erase all of your families debt. You can choose who will lay with you." He gestured toward himself, or Drift and smirked. The act would be as passionless as anything, so he didn't fear any sort of attachment from her. The child would get her out of her families debt and they would have acquired an heir.

"What do you say, Cassandra? I know of your families turmoil. This child could save you all." He stood up and went to admire a song bird by the window, its melody enchanted him. Cassandra reminded him of a caged songbird, not quite as free as the one outside his window. Luca turned with a graciousness and waited for her response. He gazed at Drift and watched for his reaction as well.
