Phantom Racer

An evil and terrifying speedster

0 · 237 views · located in The Arena

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by AirwolfKITT

Description

The Phantom Racer wears a suit that is pitch black and boasts an inverted lightning-bolt shaped crest and lightning-bolt shaped earpieces. His mask is also a full mask that gives a demonic appearance.

The Phantom Racer is obsessed with speed to the point of being unstable. He has set a mission of eradicating anything else with super speed and at the same time, continually increase his own speed by stealing others'. Those under the enthrallment of the Phantom are bound to do things out of character, such as turning a thief into a killer. He instills a tremendous amount of terror in almost everyone he encounters. The Phantom has been shown to be extremely egotistical. His arrogance has however proven to be his one point of vulnerability. The Phantom is also horribly sadistic, enjoying the fear and terror in his helpless prey with obvious and somewhat animalistic satisfaction. He has also clearly been shown to be exceptionally psychotic, as he shows absolutely no remorse or regret in his use of other people, treating them as disposable pawns to further his goals. His manic personality is a reflection of his obsession with speed, and possibly an effect of his tremendous powers on his cognitive faculties. He is revealed to have cruel, sadistic, and utterly ruthless and merciless nature. Despite his psychotic nature, astronomical speed and obsessiveness, the Phantom is not without patience and forethought; his plans are intricate and carefully mapped out in the long term. He also makes sure to set up secure contingency plans to ensure his primary plan succeeds.

The only equipment that the Phantom Racer uses is his suit. His suit conceals his identity, is resistant to and protects the wearer from extreme physical forces, has the capability for wireless communication, has spike-tipped gloves, and is very intimidating. His abilities are superhuman speed, superhuman reflexes, superhuman durability, bodily vibration, electrokinesis, interdimensional travel, stealing speed from other speedsters, inflicting extreme physical force on opponents by packing speed into his punches, enhanced strength, rapid cellular regeneration, accelerated perception, is a master tactician/manipulator, is very intimidating, and is skilled in hand-to-hand combat.

Little is known of the Phantom Racer's history; it is supposed that the explosion of the particle-accelerator gave him his powers. No one knows what he looks like or his true identity before becoming the Phantom Racer.

So begins...

The Racer looked around. He vibrated himself, making an intimidating growling sound. He spotted a man in heavy armor and decided to check him out. Within an instant he was upon the man. He made another intimidating growl at the man.

The android ordered a whiskey on the rocks from one of the NPC bartenders. As he waited for the drink, he brought the guitar around, ready to play it. He was about to check the tune before the drink arrived.

Just when he was about to grab his drink, there was some sort of growl- like a hornet's wings beating. Jakob glanced nonchalantly at the other man who had sped over. With a metallic voice and a rather cheery grin, Jakob asked, "Yo what's up?" before grasping his drink with his armoured hands. His machine precision allowed him to grasp fragile objects without breaking them.

The Demon cocked his head sideways as if analyzing him. "Do you know anyone... fast?" He hissed. He was still vibrating, and blue lightning surged over his suit.

"Might wanna get that checked out there, man," Jakob quipped as he pointed out the lightning. "There was this dude I knew who wanted to use nitroglycerine as a fuel source for his ship..." He huffed in amusement as he shook his head. "Well, considering you don't slow down in a vacuum, I'd wager a guess he's still the fastest person I knew."

Jakob took a sip from his drink. His face made a flicker of a wince. He should've ordered scotch. "Beyond him, there's millions of computers with good processors- but I doubt that's that kinda speed you're looking for."

His form- though a lot slimmer on account of the lack of outer plating- was still quite bulky. It was doubtful the android was any fast besides processor power.

Swiftly, the Phantom grabbed him and lifted him up off of his seat. The Phantom glared into his eyes. "Are you testing me? If I wanted to I could kill you and everyone you cared for before you can even utter the word what. Don't test me," he hissed.

Lifting the android would prove to be a feat with difficulty. Between the guitar and the android's bulk, it was rather impressive that he could be lifted at all by a person.

The android didn't seem at all surprised. Instead, Jakob's smile faded as his face contorted to that of confusion. "No...? Not really. Testing you would mean I'm the one asking the questions. I was answering your question, which means you were testing me."

The Phantom was furious. Who did this guy think he was? He dropped him before taking off as fast as he could. He had now mastered how to target a specific place and time when he traveled through time by travelling fast enough. He went back in time five minutes, arriving at the bar. He used one of his tactics to inflict devastating physical force on someone by backing a punch with speed to punch the man in the gut, before taking off back into the future where he was and was standing right next to the man again. "How did you like that?" He asked, seeming to get a kick out of the suffering of his victims.

"How do I like what?" Jakob asked as he took another drink from his glass. It was then that he noticed that the force of... whatever this gentleman did... heavily cracked the glass. "Oh..." Jakob apologized politely to the bartender as he quickly set the cracked glass down on a napkin. The whiskey was slowly trickling through the crack. He tapped two armoured fingers on the counter.

Jakob's vest was ruined, but the plating of his exoskeleton where the vest was torn glowed slightly, but was otherwise undamaged. He noticed that next. "Huh... Ah well. Anyway, you got a request?" The android asked with that grin of his as he indicated the guitar.

The Phantom was filled with rage. Why was this man not intimidated by me? I strike fear into the Flash himself. He needed a minute to cool down before he ripped this guy's heart right out of his chest. In a streak of blue light, he zoomed to a nearby table and sat down.

Marlene happened to be sitting in silence as the events in the bar began to unfold, tinkering with her chrono belt for a moment, and then pulling herself up onto an adjacent barstool as she watched an android and someone else try to get into a fight.

She simply chuckled quietly to herself at the scene playing out before her, before bringing a cool refreshing glass of ambrosia to her lips.

"Speedster," muttered the Phantom. He could feel a disturbance. In fact it was somewhere in the room. The Phantom scanned the room, looking for anyone who seemed suspicious. And that's when he saw him. Towards the back, there was, in fact, the Magenta Speedster. The Phantom was hungry for speed. In a streak of blue light, he tackled the speedster against the wall, stabbing him with his spike-tipped gloves.

As Phantom made his way to punch Marlene in the face in a seemingly unprovoked attack. Reality itself began to bend and warp around him as she had long anticipated the attack that was coming towards her.

She made no outward move to stop him, no counterattack, she didn't even flinch in shock at the incoming attack.

No, it seemed that as Phantom launched his fist towards the woman's face, the air in front of it became thicker, creating friction, until the fist would stop short roughly six inches from the woman's face. An unseen force, exerted by the will of Marlene's powerful mind exerted itself against the incoming fist with enough power to stop it cold in front of Marlene's face.

The remainder of the Ambrosia slid down the woman's throat as ice rattled in her glass.

Her blue eyes shifted upwards towards Phantom, and she made a face akin to that of annoyance.

With a mental flick, a powerful psychokinetic shock-wave was sent outwards, applying an over-pressure wave into the hundreds of atmospheres. She aimed to send Phantom back, careening across the bar and into the adjacent wall, before she slowly rose to her feet.

"That was fruitless." She commented.

The Phantom zoomed in the other direction for about 5 miles before turning around and going full speed straight at her.

There must be a range to her abilities, thought the Phantom, that could in fact buy me some time.

Marlene quietly watched as The Phantom took off running in the other direction. It was at this point she stood up from her seat at the bar. Her mind reached out and she contemplated his path of attack.

As The Phantom started running back, gravity itself would seem to give way all around him. This resulted in a powerful current of air whirling about around him.

The lack of gravity also meant that his running would likely lose traction, bringing his five mile run to a sudden halt, or rather, the momentum would remain, but the control of his own body would not.

It was a one-two punch as Marlene stepped out of the bar.

A dome of what could be described as hard-light formed around The Phantom, tempered with the energies of reality itself, the shimmering blue dome aimed to lock The Phantom in a small area, roughly several feet across. His momentum from the lack of gravity would likely see him slamming into one end of the dome as it formed.

Marlene then held up her hand, and snapped her fingers. A rift opened up within the dome, pulling the air out and depressurizing the dome. Within minutes The Phantom would be in a total vacuum, complete with the deadly effects that being in a vacuum entails.

"A vacuum, clever," remarked the Phantom. The dome, he thought, probably will not let me past. But, it is made out of energy, and the law of conservation of energy would mean that by apply enough energy to that field, it could disband it. The Phantom started to run in a circle as fast as possible, building up speed that he could use as energy. Finally, he took the energy from his speed and virtually threw it at the dome, causing a huge explosion that engulfed the Phantom. But when the smoke cleared, the dome was gone.
