Description

NAME: Prince Niku III

GENDER: Male

APPROXIMATE AGE: 24 years at present.

SPECIES: Feliyan (a species of alien werecat)

RACE: Mixed race.

ALIGNMENT: Lawful neutral.

A lawful neutral character is motivated by tradition and strongly believes in law and order. He puts a lot of faith in the process and he often follows orders without questioning them, as long as they do not force him to act immorally.

PERSONALITY:

Prideful, immodest, naive, friendly, curious, determined, ambitious, and respectful toward the elderly. Niku has a mocking sense of humor and does not hesitate to laugh at people who do foolish things in front of him. He also gets excited when he is around snarky women and seems to enjoy their spirited company. Depending on who he is with, he might act like a brat at times for the sake of entertaining himself.

APPEARANCE:

Niku is a brawny warrior from Planet Carne, standing about 5’10” high at 173 pounds. He has short, spiky, pearly-white hair that sticks out in every conceivable direction, pointed humanoid ears, heavyset brows, and blue eyes. While his hair appears to be spiky, it actually has the texture of bunny fur. Niku's eyes turn to cat-like slits in bright light and dilate considerably in low light. His skin is light tan and he has a prehensile tail that matches the color and texture of his hair. Niku also sports a set of sharp fangs and teeth capable of grinding small- and medium-sized bones.

As for clothes, Niku typically wears armor made of a light, flexible, and incredibly strong alien metal complete with white boots and gloves. Usually, he is seen wearing a royal red cape, but not when he is in battle or expecting to be in battle. Underneath his armor, he wears a navy-blue jumpsuit. The royal crest of his family marks the metal over his left breast. Under his clothes, he bears many scars all over his body from years of beatings by Emperor Pit and his brutal combat history.

Niku’s natural voice is very deep and smooth in nature. Typically, he is seen wearing his universal translator headset which allows him to communicate (albeit clumsily and in a higher pitch, more robotic voice) with intelligent alien lifeforms who do not speak his guttural native language.

WEAPONS/EQUIPMENT:

He possesses a space pod (which he calls his kilitholulgulth) designed for crash landings, which can transform into a number of other things, including a nearly indestructible hovercycle. He has wrist controls for the space pod to call it to him remotely. The wrist controls also conjure a forcefield spacesuit to supply him with oxygen and warmth in the vacuum of space or other hostile environments. His universal translator headset can perform a number of other functions, including using ultraviolet rays to kill bacteria and viruses. It is the method he uses for bathing when he does not have access to water.

STRENGTHS:

Niku is a strong warrior with access to and great familiarity with the advanced technology of his planet. He can leap great distances, make small energy attacks, and is a great martial artist in hand-to-hand combat. While he is not telepathic, he has mental defenses to block mind-readers and psychics from interfering with his thoughts and dreams. When needed, he transforms into a cat-like monster the size of a small bull elephant (10.5' tall at the shoulder and 4,760 pounds.) that is capable of doing massive damage to sturdy buildings. However, this transformation is very painful, so he only uses it as a last resort or if he has no choice. He also has nictitating membranes under his outer eyelids that allow him to keep his eyes moist and also protect them when he wants to go swimming, allowing him to see clearly in underwater environments. He can hold his breath for up to twenty minutes while doing so.

WEAKNESSES:

Niku has no magical abilities or defenses against magic, especially not against black magic. Alcohol, most plant matter in its raw form, and excessive amounts of sugar are toxic to him if ingested. Being 90% carnivore, he has a limited diet and must hunt to live if he cannot find a civilization from which to purchase fresh meat. He also has a sensitive tail and pain from an old injury in his right thigh that comes back to haunt him sometimes.

HISTORY:

Prince Niku III was born to King Niku II and Queen Shank in the capital palace of Planet Carne, where he is the crown prince and heir to the throne. Betrothed to Lady Bris (a girl of the nobility) from infancy, the two were inseparable childhood friends until he was no longer able to visit her after the invasion. He was only twelve years of age when a brutal alien overlord named Emperor Pit came to annex Carne into his evil empire. The prince was enslaved to Pit for twelve years, forced to do his bidding by invading planets and subjugating the residents therein to Emperor Pit's terrible rule. Over time, Pit’s demands for Niku became more and more brutal. At last, Niku was ordered to do something so unspeakable for the emperor’s sick entertainment that he fled to a distant planet. His intention currently is to engage in intensive training in the hope of returning at a later date to defeat Pit and restore the sovereignty of his own planet and kingdom.

So begins...

“Great!” Niku declared as they entered the place. There were a few people casually working out. Niku immediately started running around and examining anything and everything. It was all so alien to him. After a few minutes, he returned his attention to Spyri and said, “Now, I have important question. Who is master here and does he or she know the art of chi? It is something I must master if I hope to defeat Emperor Pit. He is the invader who took over Carne,” he explained. “You know what chi is, right? I can show you. It is the energy of the spirit manifested in a controllable electric and/or explosive form. You know of this?” he inquired, pressing his hands together. He closed his eyes in concentration and a ball of glowing blue energy gradually appeared between his palms. He used his hands to mold it into the shape of a jagged sword, performing a few demonstrative thrusts before allowing the energy to dissipate.

Niku straightened up and cleared his throat, feeling somewhat self-conscious by the fact that she seemed so impressed with his dinky little trick. “Well… it may look neat, but I am actually very inexperience,” he explained. “However, if I find chi master, I might stand chance of saving Carne. I suppose I ask around.” He walked over to table and started removing his armor. “I’ve been in kilitholulgulth very long time, need to stretch,” he indicated as he took off his shoulder protectors. He used his tail to release the back of his chest armor before taking it off and putting it down out of the way of the patrons. By the time he removed his hip and shin protectors, he was left in nothing but his form-fitting navy blue jumpsuit. He found a bare spot of floor and dropped into a side split, wincing slightly at the strain. “Months in a space pod leave one very stiff,” he uttered. “So, Spyri, where you live? You want me to drop you home afterward?”

Having been passing through, Claire decided she was going to check out the Master's Dojo she had been hearing so much about. Having been on Terra for a few days now to attend a conference with Tech Con executives, Claire decided she wanted to blow off some steam.

So she stepped through the front doors to the Dojo, with two Aschen adjutants in full uniform behind her, one of them holding a clipboard; the other quietly checking for security threats.

Hanley was wearing her light blue Aschen Imperial Defense force Uniform, but had brought workout attire with her, attire that one of her staff members was carrying inside a duffel bag.

"I'll change and see about getting a workout." She instructed, getting a gruff nod from the Aschen soldier beside her, as he handed her the duffel bag.

"Very good, sir." The Soldier said, as Hanley took the duffel bag, and started towards one of the locker rooms.

As Niku was doing his stretches, he noticed the newcomer and her official-looking companions. His eyes slitted slightly at the sight of them before he nodded in the woman’s direction. “Who is?” he asked Spyri through the robotic-sounding translator on his head. “She look like she come here a lot,” he added as he reached for the toes of his right foot, positioning his torso parallel to the ground. The tip of his tail lightly coiled behind him in curiosity as he observed the new arrivals. He wondered if they were agents of some kind, though he could not even hope to guess for what manner of organization. He grunted and then breathed out a relaxed sigh as he switched over to lean toward the left leg.

"I've literally," Spyri re-positioned to get a better look and lowered her voice,"Never seen her before in my life, but what I can tell you is that she's important. See the uniforms?" She took a deep breath in, "Aschen. High ranking. Important."

Spyri plopped down and stretched her legs out, reaching forward and exhaling. After another breath she continued to explain a little bit about them, how they were one of the more powerful forces of foreign influence throughout Terra. They had occupations and territories all over Terra. She didn't tell him, but they were one of the ones she was supposed to keep an eye on for the Patronus.

"Good thing is, their xenophobia hasn't spread here on Terra," She gave a nod towards his tail, "Maybe it's gone both ways and they're cooler, you know, about people not like them. I dunno." Spyri gave a doubtful shrug and rolled to do some lower back stretches.

Hanley re-emerged from the locker room with an olive colored form fitting sports bra worn under a dark olive colored tank top, and grey sleeveless shirt combination.

her auburn hair was pulled tight into a ponytail that came to the shoulders, hair pulled back tight as her hazel eyes took in her surroundings. She smoothed the creases down her gym shorts, which were an olive color to match the shirt, and the tank top combination. The two Aschen soldiers moved to the doorway, hands resting on sleek looking weapons holstered at their sides. Hanley moved first to the bench-press rack.

Two hundred pounds were fitted with a clink of iron, three hundred pounds, four hundred, four hundred and fifty pounds with a clink of irons at the bench.

One of the men moved to the top of the bench to spot her. She did a few stretches; faint scars could be made out along her arms, and upper back. There was a bar-code tattooed on the nape of her neck.

She continued to stretch, before she laid down on the bench, grabbed hold of the weights, and began to do a few repetitions. The slender woman that didn't look to be more than a hundred pounds soaking wet was bench pressing weights that professional bodybuilders seemed to have trouble with. She was breaking a sweat, and there was obvious signs of effort, but this woman seemed much stronger than the average human.

Niku shuddered, glancing at his own tail. “You… you mean I should steer clear? You make Aschen sound like Emperor Pit and his people, except maybe even more bad. I do not understand. Why hate people for what they cannot control?” he murmured, shaking his head in disapproval. He wrapped his tail around his waist in an effort to make himself look less conspicuous. Maybe if they thought it was a furry white belt, they would be less likely to pay him any mind. He watched with a side-glance as the relatively small woman started benching a lot of weight, though he had no idea how much weight it actually was. He was totally unfamiliar with the alien items in the dojo. “What is she doing? Strength training? I know nothing of the equipment in here. Do you know how to use?” he asked Spyri. A thoughtful look befell his face. “Hey, you seem worthy of trust. Are there others you recommend I avoid? Trouble is last thing I need. I must focus on training and then return to help my people.” As he spoke, he smoothly transitioned into a front split with his right leg facing forward. He bent over to touch his toes, pressing his belly flat against a thick thigh. The presence of these people of questionable moral values had him concerned and he certainly hoped not to cross paths with one in a bad way.

Spyri looked Niku dead in the eye and shrugged. There was no explanation for why anyone felt anyway for anything. Not so far as she'd found. The high ranking Aschen agent came out from the locker room and went over to a bench. There was a barcode on the back of her neck. Spyri made a note of that.

Everyone did things for different reasons, and she was done puzzling out the why's. All that mattered to her anymore was what would happen, and whether it was good or bad. So, really, she couldn't answer that question. Not honestly. Not as she watched a woman not much larger than herself bench press an elephant of weight.

"Strength training, yeah, and she's a badass," Her jaw hung open as she watched the woman, who wasn't having the easiest time, continue to literally muscle through her training.

"Yeah, I can show you some stuff, but nothing like she's doing. I'm not there,yet...how far away are your people?" Spyri started towards the free weights and benches, just one bench over from the Aschen officer training. It was hard for Spyri to not watch the woman. She pointed out the bench, the bar, but ultimately wound up pointing at the tiny woman benching the world. Her form was on point!

"You might wanna start smaller..."

"I'm conditioning my nanites, and my muscles." The woman replies, a strange but soft accent lilting her words ever slightly, like common was a second language to her.

She let the spotter place the weights on the rack, and she slowly sat up. She wiped some sweat from her brow, and the second aschen assistant approached with a bottle of water. The text of the label was written in a strange language; the aschen language of Anquietas.

Hanley took a swig and swallowed hard, handing the bottle back to the Aschen.

"Terribilis est locus iste, volo ire ad navem." She commented, looking to Spyri, and then the other person behind them, the being known as Niku.

"Can I help you?" Hanley asked flatly, annoyance and arrogance creeping into her voice.

“ “It take six months of travel to get here in my kilitholulgulth,” Niku replied to Spyri. “We live in distant star system on other side of galaxy. It is less well explored.” He blinked in confusion when Spyri recommended that he start smaller with the weights, as he was not sure what she meant. “Okay,” he replied, receiving a start when the newcomer suddenly spoke loud enough for them to hear. “Na-nites?” he repeated. The word had failed to translate properly. Maybe it was the local word for a group of muscles, but Niku could not be sure.

“Can I help you?” the woman inquired, sounding both irritated and proud at the same time. She was looking at both him and his fourteen-year-old female companion. Perhaps she had noticed the looks they had given her, though Niku had certainly tried to be discreet.

Niku was surprised by the question. Did she honestly want to help or was she just looking to start trouble? It was hard to trust her after what Spyri had told him, but he shrugged. “Maybe. Do you know chi master? I seek one for special training. They seem hard to come by.” ”

Spyri took a slight step closer to Niku when the badass spoke to them. It wasn't that the Aschen woman was confrontational, she just didn't seem to enjoy their company. At all. Spyri didn't mean to address, much less insult, the Aschen woman-but as she said something to her inferior that clearly wasn't nice about her and her new friend, her brow lowered a touch. Now Spyri didn't care if she offended her, but knowing who the Aschen were Spyri tried to brush it off and stand a little taller. It was interesting to hear about nanites, though. She wanted to learn more. They seemed performance enhancing for sure, if they were able to make her lift that.

She winced as Niku actually responded to the Aschen woman's clearly rhetorical question. This was the time to look down and move along if she'd ever sensed one. It was all Spyri could do not to kick him, and now it was too late! She forced a half smile at the Aschen woman and took a courteous-but curt-bow at the waist. Now, to brace for the response.

Muscles bulged with each repetition of the exercise that Hanley was attempting. She grunted slightly before letting the weights clink on their resting spot on the bench, then she slowly sat up on the bench, and cracked her knuckles, before stretching out her muscles, faint scars dotted her bare arms, barely noticeable but they were there.

Sweat beaded on her brow, but she diligently wiped it with a towel that was given to her by one of her men.

She surveyed the alien creature before her for a moment; the brief look of disgust crossed her face. Or was that perhaps annoyance? The downturned lip-corners denoted a slight frown, and was that wrinkling on the bridge of her nose? Certainly disgust was evident on her face.

"Hoc est discere velit pugnare." Hanley commented, and the Adjutant behind her tried to cover his smile. "Et conteram et non potui ut lignum." She finished, taking another swig of her water bottle.

She let the water bottle hang from her hand between her legs, resting her elbow on her thigh, hunching forward slightly, she gestured to the translator while speaking to her adjutant. "Vox arca vexo mihi." She added.

"I haven't seen the likes of you around here before, Xeno. What species are you?"

Niku detected Spyri’s discomfort and then heard the nasty comments. Realizing he might have made an error in answering the question, he simpered with discomfort and placed a hand behind his head. “Eh, not important. I was kidding,” he blurted. He very quickly rose to his feet, trying not to sweat out of anxiety as he started putting his armor back on. Then he gently snatched Spyri by the wrist and pulled her off toward one of the back rooms. After adjusting the volume of his translator to a very low setting, he barely whispered to her, “Maybe we must leave? I am sorry. I did not mean to start trouble. What to do now?” Had he not had gloves on, he would have been biting his fingernails. Having detected clear signs of disgust from the Aschen woman, he was not about to proceed and dig himself further into a hole of sorrow. From what Spyri had told him, the Aschen had a lot of power. The last thing he wanted to do was piss Claire off and cause her to call in reinforcements.

Spyri glowered for a moment at the Aschen woman, gritting her teeth. She wasn't fluent, but got the gist of what was said. They can't help it, they can't help it, she chanted in the back of her mind. Diplomacy, diplomacy, diplomacy.... Her face blanked in shock when she actually called Niku a Xeno. Rude!

"You have every right to be here," She said quietly and put a hand on Niku's forearm in solidarity. Then, the girl turned to address the Aschen woman.

"It's polite to at least ask someone's name before asking a question like that," Spyri remarked flatly, moving both hands to her hips and cocking her head slightly to the side. The ghost of a smirk played on her face. She tilted her chin up a hair so she was officially looking down her nose at the Aschen. Two could play at this game.

"You Aschen, right? What's your rank?"

Hanley made a face at being ignored by this thing that was in front of her. The Aschen adjutant closest to her swallowed visibly, and stiffened his stance. Something was about to go down, and the two adjutants in the Dojo were picking up on the proverbial raised hackles.

The alien male seemed to try and get away, this only served to agitate the woman even more. She pursed her lips slightly, before she rose from the bench she was originally seated on, standing at her full five foot four inch height. She threw her auburn locks over her shoulder.

"You Aschen, right? What's your rank?"

The two Aschen adjutants visibly bristled.

"Exemplum liberis facerent." Hanley retorted, and the Adjutant swallowed again.

"Fleet Admiral, and supreme commander of the Imperial Defense Force." The words were stated flatly, and very coldly. Hanley's muscles tensed, she was primed and ready to smack the smirk from Spyri's face, but she turned her attention to the simpering alien that was trying to flee the situation.

"I wasn't finished; I asked you a question. I demand an answer!"

Hanley begun to raise her voice.

"The impudence of these xenos." She muttered.

Niku’s tail constricted around his waist as the tension in the room rose. Other patrons were starting to notice and stop their workouts just to see what was going on. He turned and glanced all around, partly in self-consciousness and partly in hope of finding possible escape routes should things turn ugly. He knew that Spyri was a fighter, but he did not want to be responsible for her getting injured on his behalf. If this had been the royal court back on Planet Carne, he would know exactly what to do, but this situation was, to him, alien in every way. He snorted and patted Spyri on the shoulder. “I am feliyan. There, I answer,” he said, heading toward the exit. “Now we leave. You coming, Spyri? I take you home if you want.”

"Nice to meet you, Admiral," Spyri maintained eye contact with the Aschen Admiral as Niku pat her on the shoulder and signaled their leave. Her eye twitched when he actually answered her with the technical name of his species, but then she noticed the eyes. People were looking at them. The Aschen goons seemed agitated, and this wasn't going anywhere good.

Her temper almost got the better of her. Spyri's ears turned hot.

"Thank you, yes, I'd love a ride home in your-" She wasn't even going to try to pronounce it, not in front of them. She adjusted the belt at her waist and gave an even shorter bow to the Aschen Admiral than before, gaze locked on her the entire time. Cha'tlag summoned present on her hip by the time she straightened.

"I welcome you to Terra, Admiral, on behalf of The Patronus. Do enjoy your stay." On that note, Spyri shut her mouth in a tight smile and indicated to Niku that she was ready to follow.

Hanley kept her eyes fixed to Niku, before she turned her attention to her adjutant.

"Intelligence can follow up with this new species." She commented off handedly, before she turned to Spyri.

"In the empire, I'd be well within my rights to have you shot, for your impudence." She replied.

"I merely wished to get to know your Xenos friend a little better, maybe find out where they're from. I'm sure my people will be watching your exploits very closely."

The people could watch, and her brows furrowed at the mention of the Patronus. The aschen regarded them as an illigitimate militia and a terrorist organization, but the empire made no outright hostile moves against them.

"I wish to know about your people, about your home world, what is your name? Mine is Claire."

The disgust seemed to fade, replaced by curiousity. Or so it seemed.

Niku blinked his nictitating membranes out of sheer anxiety, his eyes turning to slits as Claire’s gaze bore into him. He froze and then peered over at Spyri for any sign or hint of how he should respond. After poking his fingers together for a moment, he cleared his throat and addressed the woman. “Ah, well, please forgive if I struggle to believe. Not but one minute ago, you seem very hostile and you say nasty things to your fellows. What interest have you in my people? They are peaceful, is all you need know. My kind represent no threat and I am only one of us you will ever see. I do not plan to stay. Once I am strong enough, I will go home, never to return.” He chuckled. “You like sound of that, I am sure.” Then he took Spyri by the hand and walked out the door, waving goodbye.

“That was weird,” Niku stated plainly as he walked to the back of the dojo to retrieve his kilitholulgulth. “But not your fault, Spyri. As long as there not too many of them, I stick around.” He paused, listening to her proposition. “Okay, we go there then to the gardens. Wait… you want to go there tonight or tomorrow? It is getting late and you know where I stay,” he replied. “You will come to ho-tel tomorrow to find me?”
