A man who works as a lumberjack and leader of his village's militia.
Ragnar usually keeps his mouth shut when he has nothing important to say. When attention is turned to him, he will reply to whatever is being asked of him. Once he opens up to a person, he is a loyal and trustworthy friend. Setbacks will rarely hinder Ragnar from merely trying harder until a situation is either resolved or deemed impossible. Ragnar takes pleasure at helping others who aren't capable of helping themselves, although his attitude towards their detractors can be harsh and hasty.
Ragnar's clothing offer minimal protection, being reinforced with leather patches underneath the exterior. His weapon of choice is a simple longsword which he keeps sheathed at his left side when carried. He also owns an arbalest made of an unknown metal which he can use with reasonable accuracy and excellent penetrating power, but requiring time for him to reload the archaic and clumsy weapon.
The Swaine family hailed from the Northern Lands. Ragnar's mother, a noble from a city near the village of Eriven, returned to the city with her son after Ragnar suffered a leg injury that crippled his chances of joining his father's band of hunters. His foot didn't properly heal, leaving him with a limp for most of his life. By the time he moved to Eriven to find a job, he had learned to compensate for his poor foot, allowing him to keep up with the finest of Eriven's militia. With the training he had, Ragnar joined the village militia in addition to becoming a lumberjack, two roles he would perform dutifully for many years.
