Description

ImageFather Raise formerly a priest of the Church of the Survivor is a tall man, nearly two meters tall, his face almost always in shadow because of the large wide brimmed hat he wears.

One of the most immediately noticeable features about the man is the gruesome series of scars along the right side of what had once been an attractive face, and when seen from just the right side the memory of that beautiful face can still be seen. His hair is long and black, draped loosely over his shoulders.

His clothes are black and of a rugged design that maintains similar lines to the priestly garments he used to wear. The fabric is heavier though, meant to last a long time under rough conditions. And after what felt like a lifetime out i the Roughs it looks like it. Warn, but still tough.

Personality

Father Raize had been a jovial man in his youth, a kind and compassionate teacher, patient and dedicated.

Since his injuries he has become more solemn, not dower, just focused. A lot of the light and life that had been in his eyes gone as he has witnessed again and again the horrible things that one man would do to another.

He tends to speak plainly, noting the truth of things rather than beating around the bush about false things. He is not cruel or mean, just honest. Where as his younger sel might have been kinder he no longer is now.

Equipment

A revolver with a custom quick load feature that accounts for his single arm, a small mechanical device can be flipped to present a reload whenever he needs. Robust enough to survive a tumble while maintaining smooth motion. The sawed off shotgun can be similarly reloaded and primed without terrible difficulty.

His power set comes from a series of abilities called Feruchemy and Allomancy. Feruchemy involves the temporary draining or displacement of an aspect of oneself into a specific metal. In Allomancy a person swallows and then Burns metals within themselves for access to various powers. In centuries past a Feruchemist or Allomancer would have access to each of the metal abilities, however the power has become diluted over time and now people only have access to either one from either class, or, in rare cases, one from each.

Raize is an Coinshot Brute. Meaning that he has one of each. He has the Allomantic ability to burn steel, kept in vials hidden along his person, and push metals away from him, either specifically or generally. Letting him fly into the air by pushing on bits of metal on the ground or shoot projectiles at incredible speed. His Feruchemy ability is that of pewter letting him store up physical strength in the long, thin, bars of pewter he keeps strapped to his back and thighs. He usually appears somewhat frail as he is constantly filling the bars to their maximum capacity. He can draw either at a steady low amount or pull as much strength as he needs at any moment, causing his body to swell with an impressive bulk of muscle, though he is loth to draw on too much as it may burst his clothing.

So begins...

Raize opened the door from the back room and looked around the bar with a stern gaze, the right half of his face horribly scarred while the left would be incredibly handsome. An imposing figure, tall but slim in black with silver buckles. His right sleeve hung empty while his left strayed near where he kept his guns. Several small steel beads were sewn along the inside of his sleeves along with other hidden areas of his clothes. A light burn of the steel power in his belly kept him aware of the movement of metals, blue lines reaching out from his core to the sources his power could detect.

Raize looked down at his companion. "Lysaria, you must be more aware of your surroundings. You are burning Iron. Could you not feel the nails above you? Pull on them and you would have stopped your fall. Remember not to just thing around you, but above and below." His voice had once been smooth but a harsh rasp accompanied it now. "You may be filling your metalminds, but that does not mean you cannot react to a bad turn of luck." He walked past her and made no move to help her up. He walked over to the bar and removed some coins from a pouch on his belt. "Bartender, some whiskey, my throat is dry." He sat down easily, though he kept an eye on the mirrored wall behind the bar so he could see what was going on without having to turn.

He turned his gaze towards the girl, a solemn look. "Your life may depend on not forgetting. Your being a Spinner Ferring allows for a certain amount of leeway when it comes to such things. But if your metalminds are empty or you are filling them, then your only alternative is to rely on your iron. You must be more alert." He turned back towards the reflective wall. "You may wish to stop filling your metalminds anyway. This is a new bar, and being unlucky at the wrong moment could have bad consequences."

"Is there someplace you'd rather be?" He looked at the bear of a man who had sat down next to him but made no move as their whiskey was delivered. He pushed one glass towards Lysaria then took his own. "Never mind, don't answer that. I know there are places you would rather be. But the point is to go places you have never been." He took a sip and let the burn settle down his throat slowly. "This seemed as good a candidate as any, and so here we are."

"I don't have much luck with women any more," his words were soft, he was used to the scars now, years of rough life had assured that. But occasionally he couldn't help but hurt as he remembered. He held up the whiskey and looked at the amber fluid. "The scars have seen to that. But I am a Survivor, just as He was," a small almost smile quirked at his lips. "And I shall push on in my life." He took a large sip of the whiskey and let it sit on his tongue for a moment before swallowing.

"The Path is too soft, it lacks structure. Whose good shall you do?" He took a vial of steel shavings suspended in oil and downed them quickly, washing them down with the rest of his whiskey. "Remember your control and to brace yourself, unless you wish to move. The powers of people here are unknown to use. These are not Allomancers, Feruchemists, or even Hemalurgists. Their powers are unknown to us. But similarly, we are unknown to them. Or should be." He stopped filling his own metalminds and as his strength stopped draining his muscles filled out a little, his shouldered broadened slightly as his strength returned.

Raize followed after Lysaria and tugged a few beads into his hand. He popped the beads into his mouth and drew his own revolver, custom made for him levers inside could be manipulated by his ability so he didn't need another hand to use it. He didn't have long to wait before Lys was getting in trouble though. "Lys! Hold on!" He pushed behind himself against the nails in the wall of Gambits to brace himself as he Pushed on her hip flask intent to shove her out of the way. He hoped that she was drawing on her luck though, but it was too late to worry about that.

He nodded at her thanks and spit the beads into the air as he took aim with his own gun. He pushed hard on the beads suddenly accelerating them to near bullet speeds towards King and took his time lining up a shot at the man's head. If he was going to put him down it would be best to aim for being down permanently. A harsher interpretation of the Savior's mantra, but in cases like this, acceptable.

Raize fired his shot directly at King's head, pushing on the bullet even as it exited the chamber, taking an already fast bullet and continuing to accelerate it the entire way towards the man's head. "To the Lord Ruler with you." He cursed and flared his steel to push the second bullet even faster than the first so they would strike almost simultaneously.

Raize pushed away from the man's armor as the street seemed to erupt with shadows. He seemed to fly backwards away from the stuff, not wanting to risk it. "We're not following something like that." He landed and took a moment to open his gun and put in two fresh bullets. It was easier for him to replace the entire barrel, but it was alright so long as he could take his time. He walked over to Lysaria and looked at Wu. "I'll need your help. It doesn't look lie threatening, but it will need medical attention in any case." He knelt down and pulled a small pack from inside his jacket. "Take the needle and thread, I can stitch the wound, but you need to help keep it taught. I don't have the tools to do this quickly with one hand."

"Go inside, see if there's a doctor who can help with his legs," He took one of the beads and pushed the needle through it , the bead would let him anchor it with his allomancy and let him sew the wound tightly closed with only one arm. "This'll be tricky. Luckily, he's still out cold." He gave a grim smile and wet to work to sew the wound closed. Some medical training was required when he he became a priest, and he had learned more after his wound out of necessity, but it still didn't make it easy to do it one handed.

"Tie the stitching once I'm done, that does require two hands," he showed her where to tie and how a couple times to make as neat a job of it as possible under these conditions. "Was there anyone to take care of his legs?" He got the needle and bead back when it was done. "I've never been good with fixin broken' bones, just making 'em." His eyes casting slowly over the man's injuries. "Wake him. Maybe he knows a healer. And the Survivor knows your face is a better one to wake up to than mine."

"Or that I was Iron Eyes himself and try to kill me on the spot." He did not smile as he moved back to let Zekil work. "You comfort him. I'll make sure he doesn't do anything stupid." He pulled another bead from his sleeve and rolled it slowly between his fingers. "It's going to be a pain to get these out here," he murmured to himself.

"Nothing at all," he said in a louder voice. It was nice of her to try and cheer him up, but there was no cheer to be had from his perspective. His good life had been ruined. And while he could have lived o the charity of others, the look of horror that he had seen all too often after the bandages came off, were more truthful than any heartfelt words. Besides, a priest in the Church of the Savior taking handouts was shameful.

Raize didn't say anything but watched instead. He may do good, have strong actions. But the face was what people saw and remembered most of all. He thought about a mask, but discarded that. The Survivor wore his scars proudly so he would too, and let is actions speak for him, even if the face was what people remembered most. He toyed with the bead between his fingers, burning steel lightly so the blue lines appeared in his view, leading to sources of metal he could affect with his Allomancy.

"If I didn't know any better I'm swear you were trying to pull on my emotions. But a Rioter you are not." He shook his head and allowed for a little smile. "Exciting enough. We should secure some rooms if there are any to be had. That was one thing I did not do that I should have." He shook his head a little and looked back at the bar briefly.

Raize watched Immund go past into the bar and tried not to sigh before following after him into the bar. He walked over to one of the figures behind the bar and started to make inquiries about getting a pair of rooms for himself and his companion. It was interesting to him that the man behind the counter gave no reaction to his scars but answered in a calm even tone. There was something almost artificial about the man, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was. It was his first night here and already things were taking a turn for the weird.

Raize got the rooms on the 3rd floor at a decent price as he saw it, and put down the money for them. It took a chunk out of his remaining savings, but he'd have enough for a while and he was sure that Lys had some money hidden on her as well at least. He'd have to start looking for work soon though, and assure people that he could do good work with only one arm. He got the keys for the rooms and stepped outside again briefly. "Lys. Our rooms are next to each other," he tossed her the key to her room and gave it a little Push to fly to her. "Each ring has both keys. I'm heading up." He turned away and didn't wait for a reply as he went up to his room to lay down and rest before he went looking for work in the morning.

Raize walked along the beach. It was different from the ones back home. He flipped a coin in his left hand, catching it now and again. Hie empty right sleeve lapped lightly in the wind. It was cut back and folded, clearly empty. His broad hat kept down against the wind. He flipped the coin up and then burned steel, Pushing on the coin hard to it suddenly shot out, skipping across the water at high speeds until it caught a wave and sank out of sight. He almost wished that Lys was there with him to pull the coin back, but it was a small loss. He turned up and watched the sky.

Raize heard the sound of the water change a little and cast his gaze down to see as the girl rose out of the water some. He looked over her and then away to the right, to keep his scars out of sight. "Pardon me, I did not mean to intrude," he began walking down the beach. The girl was unlike any he had seen before, yet again something new. He had seen many marvels since yesterday when he first arrived in Wing City. He wondered briefly when one of those strange things would result in his death.
