Detective-Investigator Randin Kaye, Wing City Police Department

Age: 38
Height: 6' 2"
Build: Muscular
Nationality: Terran
Occupation Detective-Inspector, Wing City Police Department
Image
Randin has a stern, rugged face with watchful cobalt blue eyes. His shoulders are broad and squared; his posture upright and assiduously straight. His physique is brawny and powerful, sturdily built from a lifetime of diligent work and bitter trials. He walks with all the careful grace of a gunslinger, the hard-leather of his cracked boots tapping some lenitive cadence. He wears a dark dress shirt ornamented with a loose red tie, all tucked into rough-looking slacks. A leather duster often drapes over his frame flaccidly, the coat drooping down nearly to his boots. A languid cowboy’s hat will occasionally adorn his head, shadowing his vigilant, flickering gaze.

Tucked neatly into the holsters in his belt are twin .40 magnums. Though often hidden beneath the ragged folds of his duster, the gun handles are forthright and accessible. Rarely can he be seen with his AA-12 shotgun strapped to his back, a powerful weapon typically only brought in during pre-determined combat related situations.

A Lawman

A hardened WCPD Detective who's seen a lot in his day. Randin is toughened and brave, hardly shocked by even the most dangerous of situations. Absent of any special powers or abilities; he is a man and nothing more.
Image
Randin holds fast to a code of honor, morality and chivalry, un-possessed by many of his fellow officers. He is deeply compelled to fulfill his duties as a detective, and will quickly attempt an end to any misdeeds or criminal activity he witnesses. Unfortunately, he tends to have a bit of an ego that often clashes with his duties as an officer, particularly during life-threatening situations. He has been known to be sarcastic and dry in his humor, and demonstrates a disregard for most authority.

Gear

As an officer of the law, Randin keeps a wide assortment of tools neatly compacted into his belt or in his pockets.

Randin D. Kaye winced as the girls misinterpreted his greeting, fidgeting a bit where he stood. Perhaps the two sisters weren't so different after all.

"No, that's not what I meant..." Randin stammered, unsure how to play everything off, "...it's just a greeting, you see. I didn't mean it like that. Not that you're unattractive or anything-... you're both...- I just don't-... I mean I'm not trying to-..." With a growl, Randin gave up. This was pointless.

"Look, you want drink?" Randin at last offered, putting chivalry aside.

Randin D. Kaye shook his head, deciding it in his best interest not to get himself drunk. While certainly buzzed, a couple of shots was nothing to put Randin off his edge. Frankly, the detective just had a hard time dealing with awkward situations... especially with the half-clone of Marlene Angel.

Randin opted to keep quiet for the time being, listening carefully to the exchanges between the two sisters. He wondered if he had ever heard Marlene laugh before, and couldn't seem to recall a time. Frankly, the detective had trouble recalling a time where Marlene wasn't on the verge of shooting and/or arresting him...

Randin D. Kaye stretched quietly, rolling up the sleeves to his dress-shirt once more and loosening his tie so that it practically rested on his mid-chest. The detective nonchalantly walked to the other side of the bar, still listening as he approached a nearby sink, briefly splashing cold water across his face and neck. Somehow this little renuinion was absurdly amusing.

The detective began washing his calloused hands, doing his best to appear uninvolved with the argument at hand.

Randin D. Kaye perked up at the slow, metronomic cadence of leather boots on the floor. Quickly looking towards the new arrival, Randin was only mildly suprised to find Ari up-and-about at this time of day. In Gambit's of all places too.

"Somehow I could've forseen this..." Randin chuckled to himself, drying his hands with a mess of paper-towels, eyeing Ari's fresh shot of vodka with obvious suspicion.

Randin D. Kaye shot Marlene an irritated glance. The fuckin' rebar thing again... the NPA Agent must be drunk to bring that up.

Now that he thought about it, Randin DID suppose that Marlene was the whole reason he had met Ari in the first place. He had been trying to take Marlene down... Ari had been tortured by her... everything seemed to work out from then on.

"Little late to be about, sai?" the detective looked back over at Ari.

Randin D. Kaye reclined, mulling over his options in his mind. So here it was at last. All cards on the table. Rubano decided in that instant that he very much liked Rick Pollman.

"...because... Mr. Pollman..." Rubano began, leaning forward, his tone also assuming a more serious and grave depth, "...because it's too much. Because this country isn't run by Parliament. It's not run by the people. It's run by the Terran Intelligence Bureau. By the pale faced thumb-twiddlers in grey suits who watch the world from the eyes of surveillance cameras and operation dossiers." Rubano nearly growled.

"The title 'TIB Director' throws more weight then 'Prime Minister'," Rubano continued, "I don't care what the 'reality' is... this is the Terran National Government. We are free. We are soveriegn. And if not, we should at least be making a damn-worthy effort trying to appear so."

Randin D. Kaye , among other WCPD Officers and NPA agents, lay scattered about the training center. Furnished with professional fitness-machines, full-sets of weights and cardio and aerobic exercises; there was certainly a lot to do. Perhaps the most interesting feature of the workout room lay directly in the center; a medium-sized octagonal MMA/boxing ring. A couple of officers lightly sparred eachother, clumsily throwing undisciplined blows at one another with no real success.

Randin Kaye sat quietly at the bench-press, two hundred and twenty pounds racked carefully on the bar. The detective wore a simple tank top with sweat-pants, numbly looking out into the distance as he prepared for his next set.

Randin D. Kaye watched Marlene with poorly-hidden contempt, a low rumble coming from somewhere in the back of his throat. That's right... she was NPA agent. Just his luck that she'd stop by today of all days. Randin hardly had time to work out three-times a week as it was. He didn't need this bitch ruining his fun...

"Well, you jus'have fun on your elliptical," the detective smirked, resting his head against the bench as his fingers reached up to grip the bar, "maybe if you're feeling brave you could try the treadmill when you're done..." After sufficiently returning-fire, Randin began his set. Powerful muscles pumped out rep after rep, fluently mastering the weight with perfect technique.

In many ways, Randin's physique was the opposite of Marlene's. He was brawny muscle. Pure mesomorphic power with little lean-force. With a grunt, Randin set the bar loudly back in its place, finishing his set.

Randin D. Kaye took a few breaths as he steadied himself, quirking a cautious eye toward the former LDA Agent. His eyes roamed only briefly over her scantily-clad figure, noting her fit-figure and sleek muscles. If she wasn't such a goddamn' bitch, maybe he'd be a little bit more attracted to her right now.

But god...how many times had he wanted to take a swing at Marlene Angel? And here she was, calling him out face-to-face on a fight. The chip was knocked over. Randin uncurled his fingers as if testing the tendons, briefly mulling over the prospect of how a spar with her might turn out.

Of course, Randin was a reasonable man. He knew how formidable Marlene was and he wasn't about to underestimate her. The WCPD Detective had trained nearly all his life; but who knew what kind of hand-to-hand instruction Marlene had with her kind of connections? She could very well be his better.

"...not sure how I feel about beating down on little-girls," Randin shook his head with grin, shrugging the insult off and bluffing his caution with ignorance, "how about you just stick to your cardio? You look a little out-of-shape." A lie, of course... Randin wondered if there was any other female-cop on the force with a core like that. But at least it would unsettle her. With a smirk, Randin attempted to brush Marlene, headed toward the water-fountain near the ellipticals.

Randin D. Kaye slammed down on the water-fountain, masking his anger with a mock laugh after he had had his drink. "Well now you're just borderlining sexual harrasement, babe..." Randin called after her as she turned toward the ring. Perfect. She was going to spar without him. He'd watch Marlene fight for a few minutes and see if he couldn't figure something out.

A particularly pumped young corporal pranced around the octagon, relishing over his recent victory against a meek-looking officer. "Was'that girl?" the corporal pointed to Marlene as she approached, "you wan'sum too, legs? I don'wanna mess up that pretty lil'face o'yers..." The corporal laughed, still breathing hard. With the med-packs and healing systems readily available throughout the building, not much protection was needed in the octagon. Fist wraps and mouth pieces was all they had. Some didn't even have that.

"Th'fuck girl..." the corporal laughed, "you wanna' dance fer' me we can do it'n th'shower rooms afterwards." With a smug grunt, the coporal stepped forward, throwing a wobbly and easily-forseen left straight for Marlene's cheekbone.

Randin stood on the sidelines, his arms crossed over his broad chest as he watched the brawl intently. Marlene's fighting style was completely unlike anything he had ever seen before. The detective analyzed scrupulously, noting her footwork, movement and position of her hands.

The coporal recieved all of the hits, not managing to block or dodge so much as a single blow. He gaped in wide-eyed horror as Marlene practically ripped him apart, sending his battered body sprawling across the octagon, blood dripping from his mouth.

With a painful whimper, the humbled fighter attempted to drag himself out of the octagon, quickly assisted by a few of his friends who had seen the whole thing go down. None of them made eye contact with Marlene. Many of the agents and officers who had previously been working-out were now struggling to collect their jaws from the floors. No one had expected that. No one was that fast.

"Turn around, Angel..." a rugged voice suddenly commanded from behind the bellowing agent. Slowly, almost wearily, Randin Kaye entered the octagon, wrapping his fists tightly in rough linen, "...turn around and have a real fight." His blue eyes flickered attentively as he stared Marlene down, a small grin finding its way across his face.

Randin D. Kaye listened to Marlene with seemingly little interest, masking his attention by focusing on his fist-wrappings. When he was finished, he quietly rolled his head about his neck, cracking his shoulders and flexing his chest before assuming a variation of a boxer's stance. Both hands were an equal distance from his face, his left foot forward, his right foot back and on the toes.

"It's called Krav Maga," Randin returned, giving her a little debriefing of his own fighting style, "once was used by the Israeli special forces. It's a strong technique. Sturdy and instinctual." The detective grinned slyly. She was baiting him, taunting him to commit the first move.

"Don't be so sure, darlin'..." the detective quipped, though much of his former mock-tone was gone, "...but come on then, I won't be standing around here all day. 'Ladies first', as they say."

"I could say somethin' similar..." Randin grunted as Marlene advanced, completely mixing up her technique as she charged. Barely noticing the extension of her leg as she rolled, Randin managed to counter the kick before it connected fully with his knees, shooting his muscled quad out to meet the kick in mid-swing, stopping the attack before it could build its momentum. Krav Defense in its raw. Simple, effective movement.

Unfortunately, Marlene was still much faster then he was. By the time he had stopped her first kick, she had already sprung up from her hands and was delivering another to his face. In a last ditch desperate dodge, Randin ducked quickly. Still, he remained unable to avoid the strike completely. Her kick connected with the top of his head, briefly disorienting the detective. Eager to get away before she could capitalize on his weakness, Randin shoulder-rolled quickly in the opposite direction, landing in a crouched position on the balls of his feet as he awaited Marlene's next move. He needed to come up with an offensive strategy. Fast.

Being in a crouched position having just rolled, it wasn't very hard for Randin to simply shoulder-roll again to avoid her jumping kick. Her elaborate front flip gave him the briefest moment of opportunity... all the detective needed. Having dodged the flip, Randin would wait for Marlene to land from her jump before beginning his own offensive: lashing out with a rapid left-jab, followed closely by a step inside her perimeter guarded with a right elbow across the jaw, finishing with a side-step from his left foot to angle a powerful knee directly into her sleek core. The flurry of combinations, pre-planned by the detective, were designed to work independently of one another. If Marlene dodged one, unless she offered an offensive counter or created distance, would still have to deal with the next.

Marlene's hold on his arm worked, her fingers gripping his muscled limb and hitting all the right pressure-points to incite a grimacing medley of pain in the wincing detective. Shit... how could he have let her have that one?

"...give me a little more credit," Randin rolled his eyes. He wasn't about to cry off after one bad move. The pain was bad, but not unbearable. It was a pressure-hold, not a leg-lock or an arm-bar. Not even a choke-grip. Randin had had worse, that was certain. Still, he needed to get the advantage away from Marlene and fast. He could pit the strength of his one arm against both of her two... yet opted against it. He had already underestimated her strength once. Not again.

Which left just one more option. It was a tricky maneuver, but it could work. With Marlene holding him away from her body at his side, he was incapable of using his arms to counter-strike. Incapable of turning to face her, even. Turning his head ever-so-slightly, Randin got a good look at where the agent was... before preforming a perfect back-step side kick, driving out with his heel in the precise direction of Marlene, attempting to catch her in the chest with enough force to push her away from him.

The pain was seering now, and Randin growled sharply as he made his move.

"Well you're not half-bad yourself...UHHNN!" Randin grunted as Marlene succesfully caught his foot, gripping into his leg and bringing him down into the mat. It was a grappling fight now. Once again, Marlene had assumed a pressure hold, shooting shockwaves of mind-blowing pain up from his calf into the rest of his body. It wasn't easy to formulate a plan in such a condition, and it took most of Randin's remaining willpower to offer another counter against the girl.

Although she still had the upper hand, she only had him from one point. His leg. The rest of his body... his primary muscles and most of his limbs... were still more-or-less in control. He wasn't being dominated. Not yet. He just needed to assume command on the ground and submit her once and for all into the mat. Drawing a deep breath, Randin waited for a brief second... and exploded. Every muscle, every tendon on his body powered in an instant, attempting to rip himself free of Marlene's grip not be moving away from her, but by leaping towards her, literally pushing himself deeper into her perimeters. If succesful, Randin would attempt to grapple her, wrapping his enveloping arms around her waist, slamming her against the mats with considerable force.

If still successful, Randin would assume a guard position from the ground, keeping in between Marlene's legs as he bore down on her with a flurry of strikes and elbows.

Randin D. Kaye was caught off guard by Marlene's sudden lash out, her movements somehow even faster and quicker then before. By the time he had realized Marlene had her fingers around his throat, a good two seconds had already gone by. Randin's own hands went to his defense, quickly swatting at Marlene's choke with force, attempting to break the choke where it was weakest: the point between her thumb and fingers.

With the immediate danger hopefully put-off, Randin still found himself extremely disoriented. Swaying a bit from where he knelt, trapped between Marlene's powerful legs, he threw a powerful straight-punch towards what he -thought- was Marlene's face. His knuckles ended up cracking on the mat just beside her ear.

Randin D. Kaye grinned widely, collapsing on the arena as he shook violently, at last allowing the still-evident pain from Marlene's grips to seize him in their entirety. After a few moments of writhing, still breathing-hard and sweat-sheaned, he looked over at Marlene and laughed weakly.

"...not a bad fight..." he managed, looking down at his blood-stained wraps.

Randin D. Kaye entered Gambit's bar quietly, his leather duster fluttering only slightly in the faint, chilling breeze of the crisp autumn night. He stopped for a moment, his cobalt blue eyes flickering about the establishment warily. Quiet today. Maybe he'd actually get some peace and quiet this time around. Gambit's was a hellhole that was for sure, but it was also one of Randin's favorite places in the Wing. It seemed as if the WCPD detective couldn't stay away from the bar anymore then a junkie could keep away from his fix.

Heading towards the bar counter, Randin retrieved a strange cell-phone looking device, his fingers flitting across the touch screen.
