Description

Image

Full Name: Melody Barker (Deceased)
Alias: Virgo
Legal Age: 24
Biological Age: 98
Gender: Female

Species: Grim Reaper. Reapers are supernatural creatures, a sort of undead being that cannot move on to the afterlife, and exist to take care of the business of death. They're created from people who died a violent death, having wasted their lives being self-centred and self-obsessed.

Height: 5' 5
Hair Colour: Bone White
Hair Appearance: Long, down to mid-back, slightly wavy in places.
Eyes: Entirely white, surrounded by black, diamond-shaped markings. The eyes give off a slight glow that's a little unnerving.
Other features: Virgo's mouth is an elongated 'glasgow smile' type grin, reaching up to under each ear. Her mouth is full of sharp, shark-like teeth.

Relationship Status: Single
Family and Friends: Had two parents in life, now out of contact with them.
Education: Ordinary pirimary and secondary education, suipplemented by stage schools, dance classes and the like.

Strengths: Virgo is quite intelligent and perceptive. She is mostly fearless, and almost always calm.

Flaws: Virgo is rather bitter about her status as a Reaper, and cannot stand how she looks, being rather vain deep down. She doesn't have a lot of patience for the problems of others. Virgo also has a terribly casual attitude towards death, something which can bother others at times.

Fears: The consequences of her inability to die.

Abilities: As a Grim Reaper, Virgo is effectively immortal. Upon taking fatal damage, she will die, and her body will appear to disintegrate...before reforming within the hour closeby. She also has abilities tied to the spirits. She can detect those who are in iminent danger of dying, sense a death nearby, and also see and interact with the spirits. She is also capable of 'moving on' souls to the afterlife, though she can only do so with the soul's permission. Theoretically, a Grim Reaper could bring back the dead, but they are forbidden to tell non-Reapers, and are only supposed to use it in the most extreme circumstances.

History: Virgo was born...and died Melody Barker, a vain and self-centred con-artist who had been in the wrong place at the wrong time. A senseless murder in an alleyway a few streets from her house, it took her several hours to bleed to death in the rain. She remembered a woman, a strange looking woman with white hair walking up to her, and telling her that 'It would all be over soon'. She didn't understand it at the time, not until the bleeding became to much, and her heart stopped. Suprisingly however, a little while later, she opened her eyes and got to her feet, finding herself stood staring at her own corpse. The woman explained that she had become one of the Reapers...somethign Virgo was not exactly overjoyed at the idea of.

As the years passed however, her hatred and anger at her situation turned into a grudging acceptance. She genuinely could do nothing about it. Any attmept at suicide killed her for an hour at most. She was stuck on earth, so she might as well take up reaping to amuse herself for the rest of eternity.

So begins...

Reaper Virgo slipped inside, pushing the door out and adjusting the large woolen scarf that obscured her toothy maw from the public. It left her with a dilemma. She could keep it up....but that would mean not being able to get a drink..and to be honest she needed one.

It had been a busy day...though she guessed Gambits was probably not the best place to go for a peaceful cocktail after work. She stepped her way over and mused over it for a while.

"Now.." The Reaper muttered, tugging down her scarf, leaving her shark-like mouth on show.
"Would it be considered insensitive or a little too ironic to order a zombie?"

"And there we were, starting to panic." Virgo muttered dryly in response to the man that had just wandered in with a rather large number of guns. Why would you need more than two anyway? One only had so many arms...or most patrons did anyway.

She eventually decided no-one was going to object too much, and ordered a zombie to drink. It was one interesting thing she'd discovered, that it seemed incredibly hard to get drunk since she'd become a Reaper..and was still wondering if this was a positive or negative thing.

Virgo cast her gaze sideways, sipping from her glass...something that was a bit of a challenge with the mouth shape. Her teeth kept getting caught on the rim. How very irritating. She set it down, glancing over at the other patrons....and whatever they were up to...a load of noise mostly.

"Ugh..vampires." she muttered.
"I hope none of you vamp types are planning to die...that's an absolute logistics nightmare y'know, undead."

"To be fair, it's not as if that many people actually set out to die...but my god they manage it.." she muttered.
"Falling down stairs, walking under buses...dealt with a guy today who stuck a for in a toaster trying to get a bagel out. Zap. Dead."

Virgo frowned, realizing she probably shouldn't be talking shop so readily. She was just really bored of only talking to the spirits of the dead. They tended to have only on subject on thier minds, and that was the being dead thing. It was always such a huge deal to them, it would be, but Virgo had gotten rather desensitized to the whole thing.

"Oh no, it's kicking off.."Virgo muttered, as she saw Tabitha edging over towards Sil.

She tipped her head back and drained the last of her drink, wiping her mouth with the back of her sleeve. She then addressed Sil with a sigh.

"Not wanting to disturb you evening ma'am, but I don't think that girl going over towards you has your best wishes in mind, if you didn't realize already. It's not really my business of course."

"I'd agree with the lady with the sword on this one..." Virgo muttered, indicating Kimura with a toss of her pallid head.

"It's not exactly an excuse saying 'I'm hungry therefore I must bite the nearest person. I mena humans get hungry, you don't see them tackling random passers by to steal their pizza..." she remarked.
"..but that's vampires for you. Nature's whiny junkies."

Virgo sat back in her seat, watching the fight taking place.
"Er...can I have another drink?" she asked the bartender, before looking back at the fight, folding her arms and watching.

This was one reason she did enjoy drinking at Gambits. There was invariably some sort of entertainment.

"If you tear someone's jugular open, they tend to die as well." Virgo replied to Tabitha, leaning forwards in her seat and clasping her hands together.
"Killing someone else to help yourself still doesn't exactly make it justified, not sure why you vamps always seem to think it does."

"You're pretty much a mindless killer now as it stands, randomly jumping people in bars like some kinda of animal..." Virgo replied.
"Why don't you try asking people rather than just attacking them? Having someone trying to randomly bite your neck doesn't put you in a very charitable mood."

Virgo sighed deeply.
"If you want something done right...et cetera..."

She got to her feet and walked over to Tabitha.
"If you need blood that badly, and make no mistake, I am only gonne do with once. You can take this body of mine, but in the name of all that is holy, make sure you kill it first. I don't want to be in it while you're drinking my blood."

Virgo nodded a little.

"I'll levle with you. I'm a Grim Reaper, my body is more of a tool, a means of interracting with the environment...and drinking cocktails. Basically, if you kill this body, within an hour it'll have turned to dust, and I'll have a new one. It's not a lot more than an annoyance, but if it'll stop you randomly attacking people for a while, then go for it...but kill first, clear?"

"I know, I just really don't want to experience what it feels like to be bitten. I am not a fan of unwanted physical contact at the best of times, and that would be taking it to all new, disturbing heights. Plus these bodies have very poor recuperative abilities, and minor injuries tend to kill them off anyway." she replied.
"So I'd very much prefer it if you went ahead and killed me properly."

Virgo shrugged.
"I don't care, so long as it's fast and not too degrading." she replied.

She generlaly didn't put a lot of thought into the method of it.

"Ugh..that's g-" was more of less all Virgo managed to get out before the internal parts of her throat became very much external. The body went rigid for a few moments, before falling limp, the rampant blood flow beginning to slow down.

Virgo's spirit pulled itself free of her now rather useless body, leaving it to the vampire. That wasn't an experience she wanted to repeat too often.

Reaper Virgo made her way into the bar, skirting her way around the blood puddle.
"Ugh...I clocked off an hour ago...I really don't need this." the Reaper muttered, trying to avoid ruining her new shoes.

"Didn't come here to have to dead with another dead one...might as well let one of the freaks like Carys get hold of it if it dies." she muttered, making her way in.

"Oh, hey Rose." she added.
"Go easy on the drinks, don't want to end up having to deal with your soul post-death from alcohol poisoning."

Reaper Virgo nodded a little.

"I suppose so Rose, though that's not an excuse to get drunk as a skunk and make a fool of yourself. I'd also warn you..."

She turned to address [b]Templewick[/b}.

"....that when she gets drunk she will try and hit on anything that moves. So do be careful."

"Rose. YOu like everyone, generallly regardless of gender or species." Virgo replied, making her way over to the bar.
"Hi, I'd like a Snowball, easy on the lime juice." she stated, before looking back to Rose and Templewick.
"Last I heard you were hitting on a female synthetic life-form that had been trying to murder you a few minutes before."

Reaper Virgo nodded a little, hunching its shoulders and placing a hand over where its mouth should have been. Why couldn't they have given it a proper mouth?

It was a little comforting to hear that there was some way of fixing its problem, though it seemed all rather complicated...still it guessed this thing Pinch was talking about was a better alternative to slowly dying from dehydration.

Reaper Virgo made her way into the bar, trying to work out what exactly she was going to drink that day...though her thoughts were rather interrupted at the sight of Justine there. It was never great seeing your boss when you were off work, but when you were effectively stuck with your boss for centuries at a time...you rather wanted to get away from them when work was finished.

"Ugh...dammit..." Virgo muttered.
