Runefaldo was born in Cardavien, the City of Thieves. Cardavien was divided into four districts each run by a Thieves Guild. The Guilds vied for power and control over the trade and commerce of the city. Rune grew up in shadows of the city???s most dangerous guild the Bellringers. His father was a top notch thief and made a good living working for them, but Rune hated the way the guild operated. If they couldn???t get what they wanted from a family they would bully them or even kill them. Though Rune eventually joined the guild, he left after an event that caused the death of his father and mother and his life being saved by the guild master of a rival guild. Her name was Numbers. She was a half demon woman, with a slight crimson tinge to her already caramel skin. Numbers had rescued him from a death squad sent to kill him and his family by the Bellringers. Numbers took Rune into her guild, the Calculators, and from that day on Rune told himself he would do whatever it would take to please Numbers and one day find a way to get rid of the guilds and set the city for the better. Rune eventually rose through the ranks of the Calculators to the point of becoming Numbers second in command. Though Numbers had told him on many occasions that he could be number one, but he refused it by saying, ???You???re a better thinker than I am. I think on my feet. And you think ahead of what I think.??? He told her. Then he decided one day to explore the rest of the world. Numbers gave him free range to explore the world, she only asked that he keep his promise to himself and find a way to do away with the guilds and bring a true freedom to Cardavien. It was upon leaving Cardavien that Rune???s life changed even more. As he began to cross the desert that surrounded his home, he was lost in a sand storm. He found his way to the center of the storm, to which he encountered a beautiful woman. Rune approached the woman only to realize to late what she really way. The woman who had entranced him was actually a desert spirit that began to bury him in the sand. Rune in a last ditch effort made a deal with the spirit, if he could defeat her in combat, she would let him live. The spirit agreed and Rune eventually won the fight, and for winning the fight the spirit granted Rune powers over the very sand she once controlled herself. Rune now travels the world looking for riches or power great enough to bring true freedom to his home.
