a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by SleepyShadow

Description

Saitia is a very slender young elven woman with dark blue eyes, very pale skin, and long ice-blue hair, sometimes adorned with white ribbons or a bow. She wears a tight-fitting white tube top underneath a thin blue jacket, the sleeves of which hang down to her palms. She wears a short blue skirt with a white cloth belt around her waist, and knee-high soft brown leather boots.

Personality

Saitia is a very quiet spoken person. She does not say much because she's afraid that no one will listen to what she has to say. Saitia is very intelligent, but often does not share her thoughts with others, even when her knowledge would be of great help. She also is unconsciously afraid of people larger than her.

As an arctic elf, she finds very low temperatures pleasant, rather than uncomfortable.

At one time, she was easily intimidated, and rarely stood up for herself in any sort of confrontation. However, after the death of her closest friend, Ohtoha the Elven Knight, she has become hardened and cold.

Equipment

Silver dagger.
Short bow.
40 arrows.
Lock picks.
Small backpack.
Spell book.
Diary.

History

Saitia was born in the far north in the Dragon Fang Mountain Range, raised by her doting parents. Much of her early childhood was peaceful until an accident occurred during a family hike, when her parents slipped over the edge of a rocky mountain trail and fell to their deaths. Saitia was then taken in by her uncle, who blamed the elven child for the death of his younger brother. Saitia's uncle physically and psychologically abused her for many years, which she suffered through in silent resignation. One night, the young elf overheard her uncle's plan to kill her, and so she snuck out of the cottage and fled down the mountain. She was found the next morning in a state of half-delirium by a merchant caravan who happened to be passing by. The kindly gnome merchant took her in and raised her as his own child, teaching her everything he could.

Saitia is now a young woman, and is trying her best to make her own way in the world.

So begins...

Saitia gave the cello player a small smile as she took her backpack off, setting it gently on the floor.

Saitia shifted uncomfortably in her chair when no foul creature seemed to appear. Still, the arctic elf could not help but feel as if some tragedy was about to occur. She quickly rose from her seat, one hand on the hilt of her dagger. Saitia glanced over her shoulder at Sarah concernedly.
"I'm worried something bad is going to happen," she said to the cello player.

Saitia entered the tavern nervously, her hands clasped together before her around a scroll of parchment. She eyed the bar patrons cautiously.

Saitia sat in the corner of the bar, and hoped to see a friendly face somewhere in the room.

Saitia looked up from the table as she heard Edana shouting at a small child. Maybe she should step in ... then again, it was none of her business ...
It was then that Saitia noticed Calder glance over at her. She tilted her head slightly in curiosity as she looked him over.

Saitia began to feel that her curiosity was starting to outweigh her trepidations, and hesitantly made her way toward the creature she had caught looking at her. She was not sure what its motives were, but it did not seem outwardly hostile toward her.
"Um, excuse me ..." she said nervously to Calder.

Saitia took a step away from Calder as he flailed about, her arms instinctively raising up to protect herself from an incoming blow. Once she realized that she was not about to be struck by this creature, she looked at him warily.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," she apologized, bowing her head slightly.

Saitia glanced down at her feet momentarily. She was not very good at talking to people. Even when with her friends, she would often be talked over, or she would be too timid to voice her opinion. She just knew she was going to ruin it with a total stranger. She was not good at anything, in her own opinion.
"Oh, um, my name is Saitia," she replied, feeling her heart begin to beat faster. "I was, um, just wondering why you ... I mean why something like ... well, I, er ..."

Saitia swallowed back her shyness as she sat down beside Calder, her trembling hands still clenched tightly around the scroll she was carrying.
"So, um ..." the elf girl took a shuddering breath before continuing, "what are you doing here?"

Saitia nodded appreciatively at the offer of tea, then gingerly extended her arms out toward Calder, holding out the rolled up scroll for him to take.

Saitia first pointed at the rolled up piece of parchment, which was a hand-drawn sketch of a tall man with long dark hair, billowing black robes, and a massive sword across his back. Saitia then pointed at the small black-and-white photograph that was tucked inside the parchment. The picture was of a small group sitting around a campfire. A young human woman, an elf of indeterminate gender, Saitia herself, and a dark-haired elf man with dark clothing and a long cloak. She pointed at the dark-haired elf in particular.
"Have you seen either of these two men?" she asked earnestly.

Saitia sighed sadly as she took the pictures back from him, rolling them back up and stuffing them into her belt.
"The people in the photograph are my friends," she stated, "and that elf, Ja'Aku, has been missing for some time now. The man in the sketch is named Niho, and my friend Sarissa is looking for him."
The blue-haired elf looked up nervously at Rowei, surprised that someone else was talking to her.
"The ... the sketch?" she asked.

Saitia did not understand that Rowei wanted to see the group photo, so she handed him the hand-drawn sketch of Niho, a tall man in black robes with long hair and a massive sword across his back.
"This one?" she asked.

Saitia recoiled from Rowei instinctively at his harsh outburst.
"His ... his name is Ja'Aku," she answered. "Why? Do you know where he is?"
Saitia shot a glance at Calder, looking for some help from the creature.

Saitia looked worried upon receiving this news.
"He's been missing for over a week now as well," the arctic elf replied. "Do you think he was kidnapped too?!"

Saitia let out a shuddering breath. Finally, a lead. Someone who may know where her dear friend was!
"No, he didn't," she answered, "but if I know Ja'Aku at all, if he was there when your friend was abducted, and she was his friend too, then he would have fought to save her."
A sudden realization hit her like a brick to the chest.
"Oh my god!" she gasped, starting to panic. "He could've been killed fighting to save your friend!"

Saitia still did not calm down much after hearing this. She looked over at Calder, hoping for some sort of consolation.
"Ja'Aku could be dead, or hurt, or ..." she let her sentence trail off, but started up again a few moments later. "Oh no ... what am I going to tell Sarissa and Ohtoha?!"

Saitia began to wring her hands nervously together as she spoke to Calder once more.
"But Ja'Aku would never leave us without saying something! I know he wouldn't!" she replied, beginning to hyperventilate. "Oh, the others are going to be devastated if I tell them! Oh, what do I do? What do I do?"

Saitia began to untangle the jacket from around his head, her nimble fingers quickly undoing the knots. Once she had removed the last knot, she pulled the jacket away from his head and smiled at him shyly.
