Sangrei Friedn

"Hey. Ya need somethin?"

0 · 2,392 views · located in The Infinite Void

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by HitoriRaven

Description

Sangrei is about 25 years old, and has silver-white hair, cropped short. His eyes are dark turquoise and he stands at about 6 feet tall, but tends to slouch a bit when walking, making him look shorter than he actually is. His body has various scars, mostly nicks and scratches which still left a mark. His most prominent is a healed gash stretching from his left shoulderblade to the middle of his back.

Personality

He's a fun-loving, adventurous and in general nice guy. He's also a huge flirt and prefers crowded places. Sangrei would never describe himself as brave, and tries not to get involved in dangerous situations, but finds himself getting involved nevertheless.

In a fight, his demeanor is more serious. He becomes more analytical and cold, the mindset of a fighter with intent to kill. However, he also has self-restraint, aiming to injure only while intentionally overestimating all his opponents. He will usually try to stop fighting if the other person is about to get heavily wounded or killed.

No matter which way he is, Sangrei tries to uphold his own code of honour. He will never run from a fight that he has engaged in. He will never let a person die by his hands - one of the reason he gets involved in so much trouble; he applies the good samaritan rule. Finally, he'll never go back on his word. He realizes that it is a code that is cliché and a bit dated, but he follows it anyway.

Equipment

The only things that Sangrei carries at all times is his sword, Stahl Schmertz. Stahl Schmertz is a steel broadsword, standard issue from the army Sangrei used to be in. It has seen its share of wear and tear, and has been reforged a couple times. He refuses to abandon the sword out of sentimental value, and it hasn't given up -
yet. Stahl's scabbard carries the weight of his allies; whenever Sangrei loses a friend, he tears a strip of cloth from their clothing and adds it to the wrapping around the sheath.

The only special talent Sangrei has is his sword-fighting training. His is a bit unorthodox, his self-taught style making him unpredictable and wild. His training to overcome his lack of a mentor has made Sangrei slight faster than a normal person, and also stronger.

*added
It looks like she has a silver spiral in his left pupil, the sign he holds an Echo crystal within him. This power allows him to:
Slows the passing of time mentally for a brief period of time - the equivalent of an adrenaline rush.
Allows Carrier to draw on Echo Energy for enhancement, assault, or defense.
Allows Carrier the ability to read the memories of the past.

History

Sangrei rarely tells his full past to anyone. He will only tell a short version to anyone who is not a close friend. Sangrei was a young boy who was drafted into a war. It was there he picked up his battle skills. He survived the war - his side lost - but in the final battle, his sword broke and he was forced to watch his allies slaughtered. In anger and regret, he was forced to grab his best friend's sword and run. Since then, he has been a mercenary, but quit after he obtained enough money get by. Now, he travels around seeing and exploring the world.

So begins...

"Alright, shorty. If you say so." He tweaked her nose before following her back to the table. "I'm gonna split before they ask me to pay for everything..." With that, he tossed a few coins down to cover his drink, and walked up the stairs of the bar.

Just as Sangrei walked up the stairs, he noticed a bear sitting at the back of the bar counter. He eyed it suspiciously, and pointed. "You. I know you're real." He shook his head and continued walking up the stairs. "Maybe I was reaaaalllllly hungover, though."

Kiet scratched his head, tossing his strangely blue hair before turning back to Miku's general direction. "W-w-well, I-I've n-never actually s-seen something like this b-before. B-but, i-it was s-sparkly, a-and I f-f-figured you'd like i-it.." He placed it in her palm, folding her fingers over it. "B-b-b-besides, if i-it really i-is worth a-a lot, a s-s-stray-not-stray w-would have more use f-for it than a t-t-traveler, r-r-right?" He attempted a small grin before turning to the bartender and ordering a glass of vodka.

Sangrei Friedn stepped down the stairs, ruffling his white hair. He looked around for any familiar faces, and noticed Arianne Drulovic. However, she seemed to be already occupied, so he figured he'd leave her alone. Instead, he went for the next best thing, any women who weren't already doing something. He noticed Farin, and casually strolled over, plopping down next to her. "Hey there babe, can I get you a drink?" Sangrei gave his a grin, making eye contact so she'd know he was addressing her.

Sangrei snickered a bit before ordering himself a vodka. "Can never have too many drinks. You turning down my offer then?" He turned to the newcomer, giving a small two-fingered salute as he slouched back in his seat. "Feel free to, man. First drink's on me. Though it seems little missy there is too popular for me." He grinned again, to no one in specific.

Sangrei gave Farin a cheerful smirk. "Well, missy, for one thing, it means men like me will buy women like you free drinks, yeah?" His face turned a bit grimmer as he faced the broadsword at his waist. "Though you're right, missy. Being popular ain't always the best thing. Stahl Schmertz here and I sure know the drill." He looked back up, regaining his trademark grin. "So, you interested in those guns over there or something?"

Sangrei's eyes narrowed at the figure who had jumped from nearby them. "That shit's normal enough, but if I heard right, Aschen means bad news." He drew Joyeuese the rapier, his other sword, with his left hand and held it loosely as he watched the soldier woman unload a clip into the intruder's face. He tipped his head towards Jorvis. "And it seems like you're new, so just keep your head down."

Sangrei figured now was as good a time as any to figure out what was going on. He yelled out towards the group near the assassin. "Hey there, business people. Is everything over? My, erm.. soldier's sense tells me not everything's done happening?" He lowered his sword a bit, before hearing the familiar call for honey. He glanced towards Pooh. "Shit. That thing. Uh..." He turned towards his companions. "Everyone else sees the giant yellow bear, right?"

Sangrei almost laughed his guts out before regaining his composure. He pulled out a small jar of honey from his pocket, waiting for the Aschen to appear. "Well, I guess it doesn't matter if I'm crazy, it can't hurt to have the imaginary bear on my side, right?" He wasn't surprised at Farin's sudden offer, he had seen her duck out, and saw a flash as she came back in. "Naw, missy. Can't fight with anything 'sides Joyeuese and Stahl Schmertz here." Sangrei gave a hearty shout to anyone else in the bar. "Well, you all heard the businees man, SHIT'S ABOUT TO GET REAL, DRAW YOUR WEAPONS OR GET OUT!"

Sangrei dove over the bar counter to avoid Pooh's charge. He found Farin's bag and quickly unzipped it, pulling out the first handgun he could find, a Glock 21. He shrugged, smiling a bit. So he had lied about not being able to use guns. "Watch the door, you business guys!" He tossed the jar of honey towards the main door, and aimed at it down the sights. With a carefully place shot, he nailed the jar, spilling honey over the area near the door and he yelled, "Hey, ya big dumb bear, honey's over there now! Go get it!" He then drew Stahl in reverse, taking his fighting stance.

Sangrei nodded to Farin, giving her a small salute. "Thanks a bunch, missy-..soldier. Good luck to you too." He sheathed both his swords; he'd run faster without them. Sangrei kept low as he ran behind the counter, grabbing a bottle of alcohol that hadn't broken. He popped the top, took a swig and tossed the smoke, waiting for it to go off before dropping the bottle and hopping the counter. He made a dash for the nearby stairs and ran up, ducking into the first unlocked room he could see. Worst case, they come up, he was innocent. After all, they hadn't seen his face. Best case, they didn't even go upstairs. Sangrei jumped into the bed, trying to ignore the commotion.

Sangrei Friedn was obscenely thankful he had avoided the commotion a while back. He walked down the stairs, fancying a nice glass of iced tea. Actually, iced tea seemed to be bad luck..maybe he'd grab a gin and tonic. As Sangrei shuffled towards the bar, he noticed a familiar red profile. "Is that...Layla?" He grinned a bit, and changed course for the seat next to her. "Hey there, Layla. You look even worse than you did the last time we drank ourselves to shit. So, can I buy ya a drink? And what happened?"

Sangrei Friedn chose that moment to cheerfully walk down the steps from the hotel. As he did so, he noticed Milena sitting at a stool, with a glass of ginger ale. He walked over and sat down in the seat next to her. "Hey there baby. 'Member me? I'd offer to buy you a drink, but it seems you have on already." Sangrei then turned to Fedelia. "Hey there, bartender. Gin and tonic please."

Sangrei tossed a few coins onto the counter, making sure to tip the bartender. He gave her an approving up and down look before turning back to Milena, snickering a bit. "Yup, Jim, that's me. No, Milena, I'm just fine. Except for the earlier commotion, that is." He was referring to a attack that had happened earlier, and took a sip from his drink.

Sangrei was a bit surprised that she hadn't heard, but it was absolutely possible. He scratched his head a bit. "There was an Aschen attack a few days back. I'm sad to say I had to bail quickly, and made it out with only a few cuts and scrapes. But enough of serious business, how have you been?" He gave her his trademark grin before taking a sip. He noticed two things out of the corner of his eye, a strangely familiar cat, and a medic that seemed to be wearing a sign. However, he ignored them both for the most part, focusing on Milena.

Sangrei watched Milena as she got a bit miffed about the attack. He quickly tried to lighten the mood, hoping that she would drop the serious-er topic. "You might get another shot, but rethink if you wanna, eh? I hear those guys are bad news. Experienced it first-hand, too. But anyway, care for an actual drink?" He raised his glass of gin and tonic to her before downing it all.

Sangrei caught himself staring a bit as she stood, before breaking his stupor. He laughed, "I guess you caught me, that might have been part of the motive. Why back atcha, Milena. Ya don't like me or somethin?" He wasn't sure whether to stand, but in the end, followed her lead and got up, smirking. Just for the hell of it, he stepped closer on his last statement, for emphasis.

Sangrei gave the biggest smirk he was capable as he replied. "Oh, you do, eh?" He grabbed Milena's waist and gave her a light kiss before releasing her and walking towards the door. He glanced back, still grinning hugely. "Then ya won't mind if I take one of those, eh? Anyway, I gotta go for now, catch ya later, Miss Milena. Hope to see you again soon! Stay outta trouble." With that, he strolled past the rest of the patrons, taking his time while heading for the exit of Gambit's.
