The bar doors flung open.

In the doorway stood a skinny young woman. Her skin was dark, and her hair a dirty blonde. Around her shoulders was a white trench coat, and slung onto her back was a quiver. She did not seen to have a bow to go along with it, though one would not be surprised to know that she had it concealed.

She looked around with critical eyes, which narrowed as they landed upon the gasmasked individual. She planted her hands upon her hips, drawing her lips thin.

"So, what, this is a bar?"

The girl strut forward toward the counter, eyes looking critically over Krio, Flux, and Lira. The edge of her mouth twitched.

Hrnn.

"So, alien bar, mm? I guess that ain't too different from Misrana." she said to herself, landing herself next to Flux without any particular thought. She looked at the touch screen menu.

"Lets see...moderately advanced technology. I guess this is alright." she said, folding her legs.

The young girl turned to face Flux, a blonde eyebrow perking.

"So you do, eh?" she asked, plopping her pointed chin onto her palm. Her lips turned down into a frown. "Why is that? I haven't recognized you from the effort..." she said to him, voice low. She poked out her lip, scooting closer to him.

"Because, you know, if yo-"

Sauda folded her arms, glaring at the gasmasked one.

"Branching out? I suppose you could say as much." she said, scanning him. "Wait...no one here has ever been to Misrana before. If you've visited and you aren't from there...then you must be..."

Sauda frowned stubbornly. "Well, it's obvious! Who were you consorting with? The Supremacy or the rebels?" she spat, sliding off her chair. Thulile hurriedly fought to hide the symbol on his shirt. It was the Spirit's symbol, and not one from either the supremacy or the rebel flags, but they all knew who the spirits were favoring, due to the other spreading the magic waste.

She folded her legs, then wiped her mouth of spit with the back of her hand. "Hmph! Sure, but that makes you awfully suspicious!" she cried, pointing a finger to the middle of his mask accusingly. "I don't trust you at all. I don't even like you."

Thulile pulled her hood over her eyes yet again. He gave her a glare, then an apologetic glance to Flux. "Can you believe she's the older one? Crazy." he said to him, shoving Sauda to the side and taking her seat. The girl stumbled, but did not fall.

"So you were there to observe the war?" he asked Flux, placing an ankle atop one of his knees. "Interesting. I know the Supremacy is looking to be friendly with the Trigotian again, but the rebels have you all in a tight bind with them still, don't they?"

Sauda was on a roof.

She had her bow in her hand, pointing it down to the street. Her eyes narrowed, and her arm lifted the bow slowly. She drew an arrow, notching it and leveling it until the feathered end was right next to her eye. She stilled her hands, taking a step forward at the edge of the roof.

...except for the fact that she was already at the edge.

"Ah, crap!

Down the Misranan guard went, tumbling off of the roof.

Sauda had her eyes squeezed shut. She noticed, however, that the fell did not hurt nearly as much as she thought it would. Her head had lashed backwards during the landing, but one something soft. She turned around, rolling onto pavement. Her eyes flickered upward into someone's face. She was almost too dark to blush. Almost.

"I'm fine!" she blurted, getting to her feet. She rose her arm, noticing that the bow had retracted back into her sleeve and into the gauntlet on her right hand during the fall. Safety features were a savior. Literally.

She stretched down her hand toward him, "Spirits, that was a...I landed on you, did I not? I'm...forgive me. Are you hurt?"

Sauda looked up at him with coal black eyes. "You are? Oh, what a relief! I'd really get killed if you were hurt and decided to get a cop or a lawsuit on m-" She shut her mouth.

"-I mean...it'd be really bad if you were hurt. Because that's just terrible."

Nice recovery. Absolutely.

She combed a dark hand through pale blond hair, which was let loose and about. It was a rare day when she was not wearing a hat, but she did have on a thin red trench coat buttoned from the neck down to the waist, loose around her legs with two slits in it. The tight black pants and red boots that came up to her knee were all part of the outfit. Misranan guard wear.

"Electronics? Technology?" She bit her lip, unbuttoning the trench coat from the neck, "Well...yeah. Is this a procedure? Do you really need to see? Is that...the law, here?"

Her jaw hit the floor with the broken bone comment. She felt her hands flex for the bow. She had to kill him. Now. There could be no witnesses. Now, which arrow would work be-

"...Sauda." she replied, clopping her mouth shut. Close one. She attempted a horribly awkward smile as she unbuttoned the coat to her hip. The whole thing slid open.

Beneath the trench coat she wore a very thin, tight black turtleneck made of some stretchy material. It was sleeveless, and as she shrugged the coat off, one would discover why. All along her arms were silver gauntlets, the right with a screen on the side of her arm, displaying charts and numbers all along it; the left with the compressed and collapsible bow upon it.

"Misranan weapon only. It uses standard purified magic, I swear!" she told him, pursing her lips. She turned around, "Oh, and the implant."

On her neck, there was something metal embedded there too. It looked like a thin steel bar, an inch high, with a little port at the base, where it looked like some kind of wire or plug could insert itself. It melded with her skin.

"So you think it's gonna bother me?"

She slipped the coat back over her shoulders, flipping her hair over the collar before buttoning it back up. She narrowed her eyes at him.

"If you do have a mind to sue me you might not find yourself in the healthiest position." she commented as quickly as she could speak. Her words blurred together almost until the point that she could not be understood.

"And it's not that complicated! You see, capsules go in here..." She pointed to the top of the gauntlet on her hand, where there were three blue glowing lights, "And just by squeezing my fingers hard enough I can release the bow-" She did just that, and the bow slid out of the sleeve neatly and assembled itself in front of her, almost the same height, thin, and certainly expensive.

"See? The capsules hold magic, and the magic is used to power the gauntlet. There's a half capsule in each arrow to power their effects. Is this...strange to you?"

Sauda's head tilted to the side. "So you do not need assistance in using it. That is very interesting." She lifted her other hand to detach the bow from the magnet that held it to the gauntlet, then handed it to him.

"I heard rumors of people who are able to do that. On our planet, however, magic is too...heavy? It can only be harvested using technology, and technology can only be powered using magic. We need them both." she told him, then slipping off the gauntlet to show him that. From wrist to just below the elbow, it was stiff. He would find that it was much heavier than it looked, as well.

"I would show you the magic in my arrows but...I am not allowed to attract any attention."

She was glad someone understood. Of course magic was the energy of life.

"It all seems find in your hands." she pointed out, blinking up at him. "And...well..." She bit her lip, eyes moving to the ground, chin meeting her chest, "...I might cause trouble, and trouble is the last thing the Misranan government needs. We're just trying to make peace with the Terrans and the Trigotians, is all. There's going to be a cruise to Misrana soon, for Terrans to visit and get to know our planet." It was really to make money for tourism, as cheap as the tickets were.

She took the bow in her naked hand, frowning. "But it looks like your procedures for magic are the same. What are those bracelets?" she asked.

"Oh...so really not very different from my gauntlets, correct?" she asked, slipping the gauntlet back on, along with the bow. It folded and hid up her sleeve again. "How dangerous are we talking?"

She turned suddenly, something catching the corner of her eye. She narrowed her lids, suspicious. Slowly, she centered her attention back to Vyn. "Sorry. Thought I saw something."

"I did not think so." she answered him. "Perhaps a cat in an alley. I don't believe I've made any enemies here...yet." Her hand tightened into a soft fist.

"So, tell me, how able are you? Are you a soldier or something? A fighter, perhaps?" She was trying to look very intently into his eyes, sending him a message through them. He would almost hear her say "Act normally."

"Also in training." she said curtly, trying to catch his gaze again. She knew nothing of a soul-gaze. She knew of things similar, but it had never happened to her before. "As a guard, of sorts. I work for an important family. Political figures need a lot of protection where I come from." she informed him.

A trash can fell over in an alley behind her. She whipped around, backing up beside Vyn. The bow whipped out like it did a moment ago, and before one could scarcely blink an arrow was whipped out, the shaft glowing with energy.

A scrawny cat leaped out, shaking its head. It mewed. "Spirits of the underworld! Was that it?"

Sauda lowered her bow, "Yeah, our...cats...look a little different though." she said, walking up to the animal. "Well, you're just a real small thing, aren't you?" she said, crouching next to it. She reached out a hand to pet it on the head. The cat seemed unafraid.

Especially when it grew four times it size, became covered in shadows, and mutated into some kind of monster, lurching and attacking Sauda.

"Hmmn."

Sauda had her hands on the back of her head, watching the list of departures and arrivals. Her lips were in a deep frown, and her eyebrows were drawn together in impatience.

"No Misranan ships comin' in? Really? Or departing?" She kicked at a metal beam holding up the digital board. "So I'm stranded here for another who knows how long? Ugh!"

She adjusted the large bow slung onto her back, right next to the quiver, and sighed to the ceiling.

"I don't even like Terra!"

The girl's eyes darted toward Vance. She had heard something. On Misrana. She was sure of it. The girl strut over to him.

"Wait, you, guy. You know anything on Misrana? Are you from my planet too? You don't...ah..." She looked him up and down, "Look like you're from the Guard, or the rebels...or the Triumvirate armies. Not like anything I've seen at all." She furrowed her brow.

"Well, we've only just been revealed, and we're not known. We used to be an isolationist planet. Kind of still are. Conflicting governments are debating whether its a good thing or not. We're having a civil war and everything. Its kind of stupid, but really not as stupid as here. Where everyone seems to be repulsively moronic." She crossed her arms.

"Ganymede. Not sure I know that one. Not that I know any other planet at all that much other than Earth and Terra and Misrana."

"Oh, spirits, I know just what you're talking about!" Sauda said, leaning one hand onto her bow, "Lots of people have tried to take my ATW just riding it around town! Good thing it knows its owner, or else some dumb hacker would have been able to take him by now. Hmph." She sat on the seat next to him.

"How are you planning to get back?"

"Heh. Looks like your UP system is just about as popular as Misrana right now. All I keep hearing about is the Scatterans, Azricans, the Aschen...some other weirdo names." The girl could only sigh, however, as the UPS Oslo came up onto the hologram, her eyes grew wide.

"Whoa!" she cried, mouth widening into a smile, "That's awesome! It might even be bigger than the Battleship Betelgeuse!"

"Oh, ah..." Sauda rubbed the back of her head awkwardly, "Well...that's pretty unfortunate." She pursed her lips. "So that's how you got here? Was that recent? I mean..." She did not quite know what words to use.

"Bad...luck...but hey, you're alive, right?"

"Oh. So you're waiting to hear, huh? How long ago was this? Despite this, it seems like you'll have to spend a little while on Terra...that...well, we're in the same boat, there."

Or, like he said before, the same rock. Sauda let out a low groan. "This place is so full of freeaaaks, though."
