Selmaina Kamarro laughed and walked towards the door, her coat fluttering gently about her ankles. She gestured at her dark clothing as she pushed open the doors and stepped into the cool night air, "I'll give you one guess."

[i]The doors of the tavern creaked open, the only sound to herald the coming of a tall, feminine figure. She stood on the threshold for a moment as the door clicked shut behind her, for all the world seeming like a shadow pressed against the wall. Without a word, she strode towards an empty booth, avoiding eye contact with anyone in her direct vicinity and seating herself with a graceful flourish of her ankle-length coat.
As Selmaina settled herself upon the seat, the light that swung gently above her head suddenly flickered and died, just as a smirk crept onto the woman's face. She had always hated the revealing nature of light...

Twin golden orbs flicked towards the new arrival, delicate nostrils flaring as the woodsy scent of Elf flooded her senses. From the choking blackness, the corner of Selmaina's lips curled upwards in a smile. It had been a long time since she'd dealt with an elf, and never had she come across a fela...this could prove to be an interesting evening after all.

She placed her slim hands on the table, the silvery scars that crisscrossed over her fingers and the tops of her wrists flashing in the lamplight from other tables. Every ounce of attention Selmaina possessed was trained on Sadb, and that wasn't likely to change any time soon.

[i] A laugh pealed from her mouth, the sound unnaturally pleasant and musical. Though the words had been uttered too low for any human to hear, they had floated to her ears as easily as if they had been shouted. Her eyes narrowed as she spoke back to the Elf, her lips twitching as she suppressed another smile, "Why indeed? You would think that they don't have any hearing abilities."
Selmaina wasn't sure that the Elf would hear this, but she said it nonetheless. It certainly wouldn't be the first time she'd spoken to herself amidst a host of irritating strangers.

Selmaina Kamarro let loose another chuckle and leaned forward on her table, interest suddenly flaring through all other emotions. She could see that the elfwoman was having troubles locating her, perhaps due to some kind of ailment. Whatever the case, Selmaina decided to help her along. A silver tendril of light snaked its way towards Sadb, providing an easy path to her darkened corner. Selmaina spoke again, lacing her words with honey-sweet persuasion, "I completely agree...you may join me at my table where it is quieter, if not silent. I can see that this noise is bothering you nearly as much as it is me."

Selmaina Kamarro could smell the wariness on Sadb the moment she started to follow the set path and realized what she'd been doing. A sigh passed from her lips as she watched the elf's progress to the booth, her head gently tilting upwards to glance at the face of her new found companion. "Don't worry...it takes quite a bit to irritate me."
At first glance, Sadb may find herself even more wary of the strange girl. Selmaina looked as though she had been birthed from the shadows themselves, every inch of her, from hair to boots a deep black. Her golden eyes were cold and calculating, with only the slightest glimmer of curiosity within their depths. Long, silver scars snaked over her hands and wrists, some disappearing under the shelter of her sleeves to continue up her arms. Essentially, Selmaina did not look the trustworthy traveler.

Selmaina Kamarro waved a hand at the seat opposite her, the seat that wasn't completely shrouded in darkness and provided an opportunity for Selmaina to observe the Elf in better light. "Of course, it would be useless if I asked you to sit here only to send you away to be blasted by the conversation of idiots." Her naturally blood red lips curled upward in what was meant to be a friendly, disarming smile, but came across as somewhat secretive and sinister.
"So what brings you here to such a loud place? Surely you weren't expecting silence from a human-riddled tavern?"

Selmaina Kamarro gave a shrug and twiddled absently with the hem of her coat sleeve, "A reasonable excuse...I've come across many human males who think of nothing else but spreading their seed as far across the spectrum of beings that they possibly can." She gave a snort of irritation as a fleeting thought passed through her head, one that involved members of her own kind and their desire to mate with anything that moved.
"And as for the noise well...there isn't much you can do about it, but those of us with sensitive ears can learn to tune it out over time. Unfortunately, it does take quite a bit of practice and several fruitless return visits."

Selmaina Kamarro suppressed a slight shudder, recalling several of her own run-ins with hormone driven males. "I suppose if one tuned out everything then one may find oneself in a spot of trouble...but tuning out just the noise as opposed to what's important is a lost art."
She drummed her fingernails on the table, not a sign of boredom, merely a showing of her inability to keep still, the exact opposite of the elf who sat rigidly across from her. Her head tilted as she studied Sadb, strands of raven colored hair falling haphazardly into her face. "Forgive me if this is rude, but...you ARE an Elf, correct? Your scent is obviously Elfin, but some Drows can mimic it quite well."

Selmaina Kamarro gave a chuckle "Humans think that almost everything is odd, but I suppose that comes from them having a rather limited viewpoint." She gestured to herself, scars flashing as they caught the light, "They certainly don't find me normal. Most of them simply run away screaming that I'm a witch." She snorted and brushed a tiny piece of hair from her face, 'witch' was one of the least insulting names she'd been called, but she found it ridiculous. Another unladylike snort came from her nostrils, "Honestly...a witch. They wouldn't know one if it came up and threw a spell right at them."

Selmaina Kamarro gave a small laugh, but quickly reigned it in when she realized that Sadb may not have had the vast experiences with other races that she did. She cleared her throat and explained, "A witch is someone who performs magic in the form of spells and mixing of potions. They usually call me that because I make no noise when I walk, and with this clothing I blend into the shadows. I oft times sneak up behind them and unintentionally frighten them, to which they shriek and run away." Selmaina shrugged and looked down at her hands, the slightest flush creeping into her olive-toned skin as she realized the compliment that had been slipped in so casually. It was strange that she would blush at something so casual, especially when the Elf's eyes were obviously on her marred hands, but she rarely heard such flattery.
"And thank you for that...most find them disturbing and animalistic. I'm afraid that they tend to look quite cruel on most occasions."

Selmaina Kamarro looked up, a grin on her face at an elven mouth spouting such language. Her eyes danced as she spoke again, realizing that she was beginning to like Sadb more and more, "Thank you again...it's nice to hear something like that from a stranger..." She paused thoughtfully, chewing on her bottom lip, "But I suppose I can understand the human's aversion to supernatural. They are afraid that we will eventually overthrow them, since our capabilities are far superior to theirs, when in reality we simply wish to be left in peace. Of course, if they stick their pert little noses into our affairs then can expect to be burned." Selmaina's eyes flashed, a dangerous light flickering in their golden depths. There was once a time when she might have sympathized with the humans, possibly even defended them, but no longer.

[i]The slightest brush of wind tickled the cheek of Selmaina Kamarro, and her eyes narrowed at the scents carried on it. It had been ages since she'd seen a large amount of people at once, months perhaps, but she supposed that it was high time she arrange herself into society. It was a dangerous game she was deciding to play, but a necessary one. How could she blend with the creatures she hated so much when she hadn't the slightest idea how they behaved?

Hair like night rain spilling to her shoulders stirred as the woman turned to face the bodies that gave off the odours she now inhaled through flared nostrils. A flicker of disgust passed through her liquid amber eyes before she moved forward, letting her calf-length duster flutter uneasily about her ankles.
How was she supposed to do this? Was there any way she could pass herself off as normal? Involve herself in the inevitable small-talk? Selmaina couldn't keep a snort from spewing forth as she stood, statue-like, feeling the grass tickle at her jeans. As she pondered what approach she would take to diving into conversation, her hand went reflexively to a pendant at her throat. It glimmered in the moonlight and only the tiniest bit of sadness passed over her features as she let it drop easily into the hollow of her throat.

Selmaina Kamarro stood uneasily by the door, her scarred hand hovering by the knob. It had been much too long since she'd done this, going out in public. It was high time she did, as she'd grown completely inadequate at this sort of thing.
Heaving a long "woe is me" sigh, she shoved open the door and stepped in. Her hair spilled down her shoulders like sheets of black rain, fluttering ever so gently as she slipped in behind Princess Helle. Hopefully she'd remain unnoticed and would avoid the conversation she'd come to put herself into.

Selmaina Kamarro flinched visibly, her liquid amber eyes immediately narrowing as she tried to disguise her discomfort. One hand reached up and wiped at the smear of lipstick on her face, "I-I'm just fine. Or...I was a moment ago." The muscles in her long, graceful neck quivered as she tried to keep from straining away from contact.

Selmaina Kamarro watched Rival enter, shying away from his contact and quickly shuffling to a seat. Her cheeks burned with utter humiliation at the feeling of being such a complete idiot once again. Where had that charm gone that was once infamous for its effectiveness?
With a sigh she sat, and arranged the tails of her duster in a small pool about her feet. What an idiot she was...

Selmaina Kamarro glared at the table she sat at, her golden eyes burning into the curved woodwork. Her hands shook, the scars flashing in the lamplight as she tried to keep herself from screaming in utter revulsion. All of these people...so close to her. Breathing...hearts pumping...A shudder passed through her broad, well-muscled shoulders.

[i]One ear twitched at the sound of the clunking footsteps, and the girl flinched. Loud noises were not helping her current situation, and they certainly weren't improving her mood. She turned to face Lear her eyes flashing, and her hair spilling like waves of black rain in front of her face. The tips of her nostrils blanched to alabaster as she flared them, "What does he want?" she muttered to herself, fingers beginning to tap erratically onto the wood.

[i]Her lip curled upward in a rough approximation of a smile, but came out more like a smirk. "Hello.." she murmured, her molasses-smooth voice floating easily on the air. Selmaina knew he didn't want to be there, but that only succeeded in making her more uncomfortable. She was suddenly acutely aware of the odd color of her eyes and the scar that slashed from her collarbone to her ear. All signs of someone who didn't exactly fall into the 'normal' category.
