Selmaina Kamarro glanced up with a raised brow, "If you have some vodka, that would be lovely." Her soft lilting voice did not match the cold look on her features, nor did the friendly tone mesh with the subtle venom laced through her voice, but Selmaina could not afford to be careless here.

Selmaina Kamarro A small smile curled at the corner of her lips, "Russian would be preferable, I was never one to take that syrupy American nonsense." Her inky hair fell into her face as she leaned forward on the counter, watching Genishia's movements with mild interest.

Selmaina Kamarro tipped the contents of the shot down her throat and quickly reached for the bottle, hoping to quench the undying thirst with the fiery liquid. Half of the vodka was sloshing about in her belly before she set the bottle down and looked up at Genishia thoughtfully, "No, I think this will suffice for now." She gave a playful grin and took another swig of her drink, hopefully she wouldn't be expected to pay for this.

Selmaina Kamarro finished her drink with a sigh of satisfaction and tossed the bottle over her shoulder, grinning as it shattered against a nearby wall. But the half-smile soon disappeared as the familiar burning returned to her throat and her mouth was drained of all moisture. A low snarl escaped her lips, why couldn't anything make it go away?

Startled by another voice, she glanced up at the tall woman beside her. Even Selmaina, at five foot eleven, was somewhat dwarfed by her massive features. In surprise, she could only manage a quiet, "Hello," as she made her best attempts not to stare

Selmaina Kamarro nodded and slipped her long, somewhat bony hand into the proffered one, "Selmaina Kamarro, it is a pleasure to meet you Ayasha." The woman's amber eyes narrowed as the strange sound of formal words spilled from her lips. It had been so long since her encounters with other people had forced her to be civil. Most of the time she found herself fighting for her life or insulting them within a few moments. But, at any rate, there was no sense ruining a perfectly good opportunity at conversation, so she allowed a soft half-smile to slip onto her features.

Selmaina Kamarro forced herself to remain still, although she desperately wished to shift uncomfortably in her seat. "I was born in Siberia, however I've recently been traveling around the rest of Europe." She stopped herself before she revealed why and folded her hands into her lap. "And as for my name...well it doesn't sound too pretty in the tongue of my people I'm afraid, but I thank you for the compliment nonetheless." She looked up at her companion, almost smiling when she had to strain her neck to do so, and tilted her head, "You know...your name is rather familiar. I suppose this sounds silly, but I'm a touch nosy."

Selmaina Kamarro just barely kept the anger from her eyes and quickly replaced it with a look of interest. "I thought so, though I've never had an encounter with the DMA. Must be an interesting profession, what with all of the creatures we have wandering around these days." She smiled, her brain still working to figure out the small slip-up Ayasha had skillfully averted. Though a human wouldn't have caught the millisecond pause, it had seemed like an eternity to her. But she still couldn't remember exactly who Ayasha was, nor could she decipher what she'd meant by her tiny mistake.

Selmaina Kamarro glanced over at the agents who had burst into the tavern, guns blazing with a raised brow, "I can see how you could miss something so exciting, but I can't say that I would know from experience. I never found the time to settle down...or even get a job for that matter." She chuckled sheepishly , brushing a single strand of raven-black hair from her face as she continued to study the woman with her liquid-gold eyes. "My parents weren't happy with my decisions but..." Selmaina stopped, her mind going blank as she tried to find a lie to finish her sentence, but nothing came and her words were left hanging awkwardly in the air.

Selmaina Kamarro A small flash of surprise settled onto her face, "Catholic? I wouldn't have pictured you as being Catholic. Forgive me if that seems rude..." Her hands twisted nervously in the folds of her trench coat, she knew that Ayasha had caught that pause, how couldn't she? It had been beyond obvious, and now she would have to regain trust at the expense of more lies. She quickly place a light, although somewhat false, smile on her face, "I was never one for religion, although I can't say that I don't believe in a god of sorts...I'm just not sure what to believe anymore." The joking light in her face faded quickly as she fell into the recesses of her own thoughts.

Selmaina Kamarro almost sighed in relief as the subject change, but managed to simply glance up at Ayasha with a somewhat impassive look, "Did you? I always thought that Catholics were the most pious, devout of sorts...did something happen to make you turn away?" She knew it was a stupid question, of course something had happened, but it was certainly better than wilting pathetically under interrogation. What had happened to the Selmaina who could lie easily in the face of her captors, keep cool and calm as she tore them apart? It was humiliating to have become this nervous, painfully obvious....child.

Selmaina Kamarro could not keep herself from becoming skeptical, at least some of her subtle abilities hadn't faded. "I don't believe you...but I understand perfectly why you wouldn't want to say anything. We all have our secrets, don't we?" A strange look crept into Selmaina's eyes, one that hadn't been there in years. A look of knowing, but one that almost suggested ignorance. It was a strange combination, but she pulled it off nonetheless. As the silence between them grew, she followed Ayasha's eyes to the wanted posters, recognizing a few and unfamiliar with others. But the only one that held her attention was a crumpled little piece of parchment in the far upper-left corner. It looked to be older than the bar itself, yellowed and nearly crumbling with age. Selmaina's eyes widened slightly and she quickly turned away, intently studying the patterns on the bar counter.

Selmaina Kamarro could nearly taste the tension in the air and quickly changed the subject, "Well enough of unpleasant memories. I never asked where you were from, and it's hardly fair for me to have told you that I hail from the Land of the Eternally Frozen without getting some sort of response." She grinned playfully and leaned against the counter, hoping to lighten the mood and break Ayasha of her stony silence.

Selmaina Kamarro managed a sympathetic nod. Hm, how long had it been since she'd done anything sympathetic? "I've heard that work can be irritating, especially once you work your way up the payroll ladder." She tapped her chin thoughtfully, "But most people that go that far enjoy their job, and you don't seem to be enjoying it at all. If you're a high enough rank, couldn't you suggest some fieldwork?"

Selmaina Kamarro stiffened, suddenly she realized where she'd seen this woman before. Snapshots of her were all over a certain wall...and her face had been on several newscasts that she'd watched over the years. How could she have not seen it before? This was Ayasha Ziedins, the one woman she had once been hunting. Her jaw locked in place and her eyes took on a mask of icy apathy as she tried to snag a hold on her emotions. That life was behind her now...and she couldn't just slide back into it without being caught and hunted by her family, and possibly the Director herself. A low curse came from her lips before she managed to force a reply out of her throat, "Director hm? Well I didn't know you were that high on the food chain. Just who do you...'deal with?'

Selmaina Kamarro could feel her blood stirring at the thought of the so-called 'prosecutes' that had been dealt with. What torment they'd endured and possibly the death they'd faced. Her lips curled into a terribly attempt at a smile, her white teeth flashing in the low lamplight, "Really? Well from what I've heard the DMA hasn't caught many prosecutes lately. At least not any major ones. Perhaps your department is losing its touch?" Her yellow eyes were hard and completely emotionless. It seemed that the old Selmaina had returned much more easily that she'd thought, and every inch of her was dying to tear this she-devil apart.

Selmaina Kamarro smirked, she had gotten to Ayasha, and the reaction was oh so sweet. It was quite pleasing to watch her squirm with embarrassment, and she already wanted more of it. Selmaina nodded and rested her chin on her palm, "Oh I see, so you're completely everything and making it less effective. I'm sure that will make things work beautifully, because when you come across someone dangerous that you need to take in and get rid of, they'll just happily come along with you in chains." The woman couldn't hold back a snort of disgust. The magical world would soon be in turmoil as soon as they discovered that the DMA was throwing away their 'violent history'. Attacks would come, and everything would be all the more simple for those wishing to do harm.

Selmaina Kamarro threw back her head and laughed, the melodic, wind chime-like sound ringing over the chatter of the tavern. She returned her mirth lightened face to Ayasha and leaned against the counter. "So, the almighty director does have emotions...it appears that my grandfather was correct when he said that you could be broken. I just didn't know how easy it would be." She studied her hands, completely ignoring the venomous gaze boring into the side of her face.

Selmaina Kamarro turned to face her, every pore secreting disgust, "No, you're at least right about that, but I've learned a lot from him, and you'd be surprised what I do know about you. Like that little slip-up in the field fifteen years ago hmmmm?" She grinned wickedly and toyed with the hem of her coat, oh this was one of the best time's she'd had in a while.

Selmaina Kamarro Her voice came forth in a low growl, "Of course I'm going to mention it, because one of the things I learned from Grandfather is the pleasure of watching someone wallowing in the misery of their own mistakes." She leaned forward, her unnaturally honey-sweet breath floating towards the Director, "How did you manage to make it look like it wasn't your fault hmm? How did you convince them that my grandfather was overly aggressive? You and I both know that he told you what would happen if you didn't stop hunting us, but you still threatened him, and now the blood of that poor little girl is still shimmering on your hands." Her nostrils flared as she took a deep breath, her eyes shining with excitement. "I can almost smell it on you...Murderer." She knew she should stop to avoid confrontation, but she didn't, and continued in a low hiss, "And of course, it didn't help that she was your little sister...now did it?"

Selmaina Kamarro almost wanted to stop...but this was much too good. An evil smile crept across her lips as she glared right into Ayasha's eyes, "You know...when we left with her she was still alive. I'd never heard a more beautiful heart, nor had I smelled anything so sweet as her young blood. In the end, he gave her to me as a birthday present, and let me tell you," Selmaina stretched upwards until her mouth was just beside the Director's ear, "She was delicious."

Selmaina Kamarro [color=navy]The smile vanished as Ayasha's lunged forward, her hands curved into angular claws and her eyes blazing with a tempest of emotions. Selmaina stepped out of the side, her reflexes impossibly fast, and her coat swirling behind her. She watched as Ayasha flew past, not unbalanced but missing her target. The woman spread her hands and dropped the smile, suddenly calm, and watched carefully to see if Ayasha would attack again, "I know that. We all knew that. But it was self-preservation, something you would understand if you'd been hunted for centuries." Her eyes never leaving her opponent, Selmaina walked to the bounty wall and tore off the decrepit poster she had been looking at earlier. With little ceremony, she tossed it so that it landed face-up at the Director's feet. On it, there was a slightly younger, less cruel-looking version of Selmaina, her eyes warm and soft, and her face peaceful. A quick glance would show that the date in the corner read 1742. Selmaina met the Director's eyes, waiting for a reactio

Selmaina Kamarro Her eyes narrowed as she watched the bit of parchment fly into the rubbish bin, "No...I never had to be like him, but it's what I became. Before I knew who I was, I never would have killed your sister in cold blood, and I never would have involved myself with you." She crossed her arms over her chest, fighting at the cold tears that threatened to spill down her cheeks and spatter onto the floor. "Self-preservation may not be the only way to live my life, but it's all I know." There were so many things that had changed her from the calm girl in the poster, the death of the only person she ever loved, and the blood that was now stained on her hands. She knew now that it was impossible to start again, and it was impossible to change. She had been aptly named all those years ago, for Selmaina, in the tongue of her people, meant Ruthless. Her face tilted to the floor, and a single crystalline tear trailed down her cheek, the cool liquid unhappy to be melding with her unnaturally heated skin.

Selmaina Kamarro shrugged away the arm and wiped at her face, quickly replacing the emotions with a familiar, impenetrable mask. "That may be Ayasha, but I...I can't." With a flourish of her trench coat, she disappeared out the door, and anyone who bothered to look outside after her would have seen a massive black wolf bounding into the night, snarling its frustration.

Selmaina Kamarro The doors creaked open, pushed lightly by Selmaina as she slipped inconspicuously into the bar. Though her posture was calm, and her face seemingly impassive, her brilliant yellow eyes burned with a vengeful hellfire. It was not one of her good days. And yet she surprised herself by coming here, the one place that played host to the largest supply of idiots she'd ever come across.

With uncommon, and possibly inhuman grace, she made her way to an empty seat and sat, her hands folding automatically in her lap. The knuckles flared white as she gripped the fingers together in anxiety and utter irritation. It was a bad combination, and anyone who had the gall to disturb her was, at the very least, in for a severe tongue lashing.

Selmaina Kamarro busied herself with arranging the dark folds of her trench coat so that they laid in a small pool around her feet. It kept her eyes on the ground and away from the tempting call of the bounty wall. The urge to look at it was strong, even though she knew that nothing had changed and her face was still clinging stubbornly to the newly erected wood.

A small sigh managed to push its way through her lips as she discreetly tuned her ears to listen in on other conversation. Though eavesdropping was generally frowned upon, it was the most useful way to study potential enemies, and it wasn't as though she could do much else for the time being anyway. So, she settled back and listened to the fruitless conversation around her.
