Serfictus Vilio

The PK47 Genomic Mutation, later known as the Serfictus Plague: the unique alteration of one man's genome into something new and increasingly painful. Now, he seeks to spread his new disease in the hopes of someone finding a cure that he can benefit from.

0 · 496 views · located in The Infinite Void

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by AugmentationAudit

Description

Hooded, cloaked and clearly very thin with red-rimmed bloodshot eyes just visible if one chooses to get close enough to look. His skin is paper thin and covered in what appears to be rampant psoriasis; large, crusty white patches cover almost all of his body, concealing just how dark his skin originally was. He tends to wear his sleeves long to hide his hands, one of which is always un-gloved; if the opportunity for skin-to-skin contact arises, he wants to be ready. Under the hood, his hair is lank and faded to grey; he is balding in places, though a shadow of his former vanity prevents him from shaving his head.

When contracted, the symptoms of PK47 are as follows:
Approximately ten to twenty minutes after infection:
- a burning sensation around the eyes. This is followed by redness and inflammation of the eyelids and overproduction of tears.
- inflammation of the soft pallet, discomfort when swallowing.
- a dry cough.
These symptoms commonly last no longer than an hour.

Approximately twelve hours after infection:
- elevated body temperature.
- dehydration.
- dry, itchy eyes and mouth.

It can take between 72 hours and a week for the characteristic white, horse-shoe shaped lesions to appear, and they can cover anything between 1% and 70% of the body. They are painful to touch, dry, and leak a translucent white fluid when cracked, as they are prone to do. The lesions last for several days before clearing up, though they scar badly. More lesions erupt even as the previous spate are healing. A bout tends to last for two weeks before there is an intermission period and then a relapse.

The plague can take several months to be eliminated from the body of a healthy individual; those weaker or more susceptible can suffer several years and have recurrent relapses.

The illness does not kill, though it weakens the immune system of the sufferer considerably.

Personality

Astoundingly bitter but otherwise rather fluid in character and mannerisms; it is possible that he has lost himself completely in illness and madness, or perhaps he is simply playing a part to achieve his own aims. It really is impossible to tell.

Equipment

What more does he need than his own bare flesh?

History

A man who once valued his looks above all else found himself withered and burned each day as he looked into the mirror. Able to discover the cause (a rare genetic mutation) but lacking the funds needed to have a cure researched and manufactured, he was essentially doomed to a life of ugliness, which in his eyes was no life at all. Too afraid to die and turned bitter by his plight, Serfictus spent what money he had on altering his condition just enough to make himself virulently infectious through touch. Unfortunately (in Servictus' near-blinded eyes) the contracted strain is far from fatal, but it serves his purpose well; it is as scarring and painful as it is infectious.

Serfictus Vilio He wasn't a particularity eye-catching man, given the colourful nature of the others in the bar. He kept himself covered, though his bleary, red-rimmed eyes peered out in search of a willingly tactile person. It would be unfortunate if he were spotted for what he truly was, but it would be worse if he were ignored.

Serfictus Vilio settled in a booth, tucked himself in and waited, still observing the room for the perfect victim. He wanted someone beautiful, preferably, because beauty always did make him feel- wrong when he looked upon it. Some people were so blessed, and it was his soul aim in life to turn that blessing against them and make their curse his salvation.

Serfictus Vilio It was hard to choose between the two woman whose eyes he felt upon him; both were beautiful and shallow... another set of eyes were on him, but he couldn't say where from. Sammie had been the first to look, so he chose to approach her first. He smiled in return, but only the gleam of very white teeth could be seen. "Um... hello." His voice was shy, possibly intimidated; she was a beautiful woman, after all.

Serfictus Vilio maintained his smile, though most of his face remained in shadow, only his perfect teeth on show. It was ironic, because his teeth alone were perfect now. "Hi there. You're, um, very pretty." He sounded young, possibly in his early twenties, maybe late teens.

Serfictus Vilio had poor sight, but her gaze still had a limited effect. He found himself compelled, though still in possession of his own mind, and saw no reason to fight her hold. "My name is Seth." Or so it had been, a long time ago and to somebody else. "And you really are very pretty."

Serfictus Vilio nodded his head slowly. "Yes, I would." He glanced around in search of her table. "Have you any specific place in mind, or do we just pick a table? I'm, uh, a little new here."

Serfictus Vilio nodded once again, this time obediently, and made his way over to a vacant booth. He settled against the comfortable seating, pleased that it was soft despite the contact with his raw (but covered) skin still causing him considerable pain. He waited for the woman to make her move, as he was sure she would.

Serfictus Vilio settled his hands in his lap and chose to shuffle just a little closer to Sammie. "I like talking about a lot of things. I'm interested in this place because I've never been here, I like fashion and art, though I have to say, it's very cold here. Have you noticed that; how cold it is?"

Serfictus Vilio didn't appear to be a threat at all. He was small, quiet and shy, so his movement seemed daring, but not a prelude to any form of attack. "I'm really sorry, but I don't understand what that means." He knew, or at least, he thought he knew, but it was better if he feigned ignorance for the moment.

Serfictus Vilio "Well, I don't understand the way you talk about eating, and how not eating can make you cold. Um, do you have a disorder?" He sounded genuinely worried for her, and maybe he was; disorders were his forte after all, but in the same breath he was not a sympathetic man at heart. Nothing of this could be heard or seen from the outside, of course; only his worry shone through.

Serfictus Vilio bit his lip, under his hood, though the gesture was just about visible from the outside. "Oh, I'm really sorry about that... does it hurt? I mean, uh, are you hungry or anything? And, um, I guess I was just sort of curious, I mean, it's interesting and that."

Serfictus Vilio shook his head, then nodded, he looked rather awkward, but unafraid. "No, no, of course not. I'd love to meet your brother. What's his name, and does he, um, y'know, have the same... problem as you do? And I guess it's good that it doesn't hurt and all, it wouldn't be very nice if it hurt you."

Serfictus Vilio would never decline a handshake, not when one so willingly offered it. He reached out, long sleeves still hiding his hand, to clasp Alex's hand firmly with his own. His bare hand was rather pale, and he seemed to have some form of psoriasis, though not much was visible in the scant second that his hand was uncovered to shake. His skin was warm. "It's nice to meet you, Alex, my name's Seth." (is Alex wearing gloves at all?)

Serfictus Vilio was naturally curious of the strange phenomenon, but doubted it really mattered; he had not yet met a creature that was immune to all of the effects of his virus. Sealed by a handshake; he found it oddly fitting. Once his hand was hidden again, he spoke. "There's not really much to tell. I'm not all that old, and I'm currently between jobs. I'm taking a gap-year to travel, see new parts."

Serfictus Vilio kept his hands in his lap, knowing that his task was now complete; he had almost certainly transferred his virus to Alex, and if the other truly was his sister, then he would no doubt pass the contagion on to her given time. "I failed high-school, if that counts, and I worked in a supermarket?" There was a trace of laughter in his tone, aimed at himself, of course.

Serfictus Vilio seemed a little embarrassed then, though he was telling the truth when he next spoke. "It's called 'Wall-mart', have you heard of it?"

Serfictus Vilio was beginning to feel a little strange, though he couldn't say why. He had no psychic ability and so could not realistically tell that there was a conversation going on that he was not privy to, though he did find the brother and sister pair a little unnerving in general. He wondered if there was a way to escape from them. "Oh. Well. I, uh, don't think that was my store," he trailed off lamely.

Serfictus Vilio began to look around for any means of escape possible, attempting to be covert as he did so as the last thing he wanted was to draw the attention of the pair he was sitting with. They unnerved him with their strange questions and apparent disregard when faced with his less than average appearance.

Serfictus Vilio looked towards his would-be saviour at once, because anyone would do when faced with a pair of eerily silent siblings who appeared to have been deceased for some time. "Please, excuse me, I think I see an old friend." He stood at once, crossing towards the woman with a grateful sigh. "I'm sorry, I don't know you, but thanks for that."

Serfictus Vilio rubbed his head with an overly long sleeve, keeping his hand hidden. "Well, I guess not," he strove to keep up the shy, unassuming persona that he had employed before. "Thanks, you know? I didn't really want to be, uh, eaten or whatever is is they do."

"A glass of water would be nice. I'm thirsty. And, uh, don't worry, or whatever about whatever it is, you know?" He was tempted to try and shake her hand but then thought better of it, because she did in fact sound dangerous to him and he refused to die before he found a cure.

Serfictus Vilio took the glass with concealed hands, knowing better than to show his flesh in such a public place. There was still the possibility of catching someone out after all. "Oh, it is? Well, thanks anyway." He looked at his feet. "My name's Seth."

Serfictus Vilio had clearly zoned out at some point, and shook his head a little to clear it. "Oh, uh, sorry." He thought back to what the woman had said because he knew she had been speaking at some point. "Oh, uh, yes, I'm new around here. It's my first time."

Serfictus Vilio was a little embarrassed if the way he dropped his head self-consciously was any indication. "Oh. Sorry. I get a bit distracted sometimes." He was in one of his more defenceless personas and it had to be said that the put upon emotions did bleed into his rather fragile being. He found himself affected by his own mask from time to time.

Serfictus Vilio chose a seat for himself and motioned for his companion to join him. Standing for long periods caused no small amount of discomfort, and it had been quite some time since he had last taken any medication. Not that he was about to do so in public. "I won't ask. It sounds private."
