Woah, chill dude,
He took out the phone,
I can delete it if you're that uppity. I've never seen most of this shit before,

He waved a hand to the rest of the bar. It was true, oddities such as all of these simply didn't exist as commonly where he was from, if at all. Though internally diverse, Granpaix wasn't exactly a nexus of the wild and strange.

Not exactly from around here.

I guess I never thought of that,
Shaunie shrugged, truly a bit bewildered. People could have their souls taken with pictures?

He pressed the delete button, saddened. Maybe if he found another one, they would let him take a picture. People back home used phones and took images all the time. Apparently not here.

Another text came in. He read it, and frowned.

nodded and pocketed the phone. Alright, weird things were really arriving.

That text disturbed him, he had best leave.

Shaunie had to keep his jaw from dropping as another text came through. It lit up his phone, and wasn't good news. Slamming it shut he looked around.

Time to dip, he thought, overhearing someone else get carded. Taking a stand Shaunie made for the exit.

Aschen were still here? Taiyou too? Shaunie kept moving, leaving the conversation that was going on behind. He had places to be. Specifically, not here.

Steve was staring intently at a various set of hoses and fountains. The blue haired perfectly normal man had a conundrum. He needed a hose that was a suitable length and thickness for perfectly normal Terran activities. Such as hosing. And fountaining. That was a thing right?

Shaunie sighed. Here he was in the gardening section, looking for the appropriate chemical for perfectly normal Terran things. There was a guy with blue hair, which was...Odd. Casually, Shanie withdrew his cell phone from his pocket. He investigated labels on a lower shelf, balancing his phone on his knee. With a tap, it made a snapping noise. Shaunie thumbed across the screen to save the image and close the phone, cheeks flushing.

He had forgotten to disable the sound.

Steve raised his head to stare at Shaunie. Grabbing one hose and slipping it in his belt he shuffled over to the man with a subtle exhalation as he leant in to whisper gently in a most threatening voice, "Your soul-theft device has no power over me mortal."

Shaunie blinked at the blue haired man, and fell on his bottom, all at once.

What? It fell from his mouth, but not audibly, for his voice had run away with logic. What the fuck was this man going on about? Soul theft device?

"Y-You uh, y'mean cell phone?" He held up the pain and twisted it left and right, looking into the blue hair, fearing for his life. He had just come for some basic Chemical E.

Steve suddenly cleared his throat, leaning back. "Yes, Terran friend, I was communicating that your cell-phone device has almost no power left. A helpful piece of information for one Terran to share with another."

He blinked again. Was this guy for real? Shaunie had charged the thing right before he left the hote-

Frowning, Shaunie put away his phone. The battery light was blinking. Why was that? Anyway, at least the guy hadn't mentioned the picture.

"Thanks," He said, pulling himself to a stand. On the way up he grabbed a chemical, and looked at the hose. Specifically, it's placement. People in Wing City were weird.

Steve's head tilted down to his hose then back up to Shaunie. "Are you looking to purchase hosing for similarly related tasks as other Terrans such as gardening and horticulture?" he inquired.

Ahah, what. This guy talked super strange, Shaunie couldn't help but smile.

"Nah, I'm," Mixing chemicals to create a highly addictive substance? "...Kind of doing horticulture, but more like..." Think, think, "..Soil treatment."

Yep. Lamest excuse ever, but maybe this weirdo wouldn't notice. He seemed off, and unfamiliar with...Well, gardening.

"What's the hose for?"

"Gardening and horticulture, tasks other Terrans do," he informed Shaunie, staring unblinking. "And refrigeration of things! Many many things that I need to be kept cold!"

"I am Steve."

"Uh, huh..." Alright, alright, so he wasn't up to any good either? Shaunie smiled a bit. He could live with that.

"Shaunie," He pulled out the cell phone again. "You got a number?"

The fuck?

His phone never made that sound, ever. Shaunie stared at it, wondering if he should even answer the damned thing.

Any contact details his phone would usually respond with were a broken series of characters and underscores. It continued to ring.

His phone never rang for that long.

Skeptically, he pushed the purple owl and watched it fly away, the pane falling clear as he brought it to his ear.

"Uh..'lo? Who's this?"

The phone made a clicking sound and a young voice came on, backed with static.

"Good evening! This is 'Blake' speaking: We have a job for you. There's a power outage... Over on 24th Main St. We want you to take care of it. We already sent someone over a while ago... But it seems he didn't do a very good job. Head over there right away! They're expecting you. Keep it quick and clean! There will be a package under your seat."

"...Should I bring the e-wire or the hydroduller?"

The phone had already hung up. Under his seat would be a medium sized brown paperbag: Inside would be a 10MM pistol, a suppressor, three magazines, a white mask. A note was pinned on the gun. "The target is a briefcase. Discretion is of essence.Leave target at side alley. Inside the dumpster. Failure is not an option. I'm watching."

Shaunie glared at his phone. Gambit's was fuckin' weird. He had it with this place. It was time to return to the Luxlands.

As he scooted his chair, it caught on the brown paper bag. His heart skipped a beat. No. No.

Yes. Clutching the bag, he felt it's weight. Reaching a hand inside, his blood ran as cold as the gun metal. What the fuck have I just signed up for. He left the bar, appetite ruined.
