Sir Gallante rose to his feet in an instant, striding over to Nyx with concern apparent in his expression. "Do not worry, miss Leanne." he said, smiling kindly. "'tis nought but a scuffle, reaching its conclusion. As you can see the err, rather dead woman, has that device under control." he said, his tone warm and reassuring.

Offering a hand, the knight would lead Nyx to a seat. "How do you fair, miss Leanne?"

Sir Gallante shook his head, smiling. "I remained uninvolved, miss Leanne." he assured her, "I am unharmed, and well. I had a tad of trouble with a rather large robotic creature yesterday, but as you can see, I am all in one piece."

The knight shook his head "'tis all madness, I am certain." he murmured.

Sir Gallante frowned "Who is this?" he queried, peering over his shoulder at Cain. "I assure you, Miss Leanne, he will not harm you while I am here." he said soothingly, fingers flexing again as he itched to grasp his weapon. But again, he held back. Patience was necessary, to determine what this person's actions would be.

Sir Gallante rose to his feet, glaring at Cain angrily. "Please, lower your voice, sir. It is against all manners to raise your voice towards a lady, control yourself!" he instructed. "Now I would ask you to go along your way and leave Miss Leanne alone, it is clear she does not wish to partake of your company."

Sir Gallante shook his head. "I will not stand by and let this man insult you so!" he protested, drawing his axe from his back. Thenceforth, a change would come over the knight, his expression would darken into anger, and his eyes seem to light with a raging fire. Thus was the berserker effect of the Axe of Power, the artefacts energies filling the knight's body and increasing his strength tenfold beyond human capabilities.

"Just try me, sir!" he yelled, levelling the axe at Cain.

Sir Gallante took no further note of the man's words, and launched himself forwards, bringing the Axe around with power comparable to that of a speeding train. The blow would either tear clean through the man, were it to hit, or clean through the floor, were it to miss.

Gallante was steadily losing his self control as the berserking nature of the axe's power filled him, coming to more resemble a raging bull than a noble knight.

Sir Gallante , contrary to the man's expectations, left the axe in place, simply releasing it with one hand - the pressure and strength being put behind the axe not being reduced in the slightest despite this - and used this free hand to take hold of a nearby table. Picking up the entire piece of furniture with barely more than the strength in his wrist, the knight made to slam the metal object down on Cain's head.

The knight let out a low growl, words failing to come to his tongue, and barely registering Nyx's words. Gallante was no longer fighting for 'Miss Leanne', he was fighting because of the axe, the rage that its power put him into, and he would not stop till one of them lay felled.

Sir Gallante took the instant that the man jumped back as an opportunity, and darted forwards once more, this time bringing the axe upwards in a rather confusing arc. The confusing thing about it, was that it was carving straight through the floor, the wood posing no more resistance to its path than the air, making a path straight for the other man's abdomen.

Even as he did this, the remainder of Gallante's mind was furiously working, searching out something in the bar, something to give him an advantage. His eyes darted from being to being, bug to bug... there must be something...

Sir Gallante was indeed grasped in the grip of the claw, but the Axe's powers did not extend only to increasing his capacity to kill, but his capacity to withstand harm. At the loss of his mind, he became immensely tough, powerful, and deadly. Gripped in the claw, Gallante used the close proximity to jam the pole end of the axe towards the man's face with incredible force, capable of punching straight through a solid concrete wall.

Sir Gallante would simply grin grimly as the blades attempted to pierce his flesh, and failed, spectacularly to do anything par punch a series of holes in his armour. The man's flesh was akin to a fortress with the Axe's power, and there was near nothing that could do him serious harm by sheer force alone.

However, Gallante's eyes then locked on to an innocent black cat sitting in the doorway of the kitchen, and began to glow with an eerie green energy. The cat remained unmoved, but Gallante shifted slightly, his hands growing more claw-like, his ears making points, and a set of stubbly whiskers sprouting from his face. These were mere sideeffects of the characteristic of the animal he chose to absorb, however, and the cat's suppleness was now his own, as the knight twisted and squeezed his way free of the claw, before using the animal's agility to leap out of the way. -c-

Sir Gallante landed daintily upon his feet, and would then turn and bring the axe around once more in a sweep at the other's legs, aiming to use his position behind him and the surprise of his sudden escape to his advantage. -e-

Sir Gallante would have probably taken his legs out at this point, but for the purposes of continuing roleplay without further argument, assumes he didn't. Straightening, Gallante glared about the room angrily, still consumed with the axe's rage, seeking out a further foe.

Sir Gallante stared at Nyx, raising his axe momentarily before some glimmer of recognition flickered across his expression. His face contorted, and the knight shook his head, one hand coming up to grip it as if suffering from a headache. "Auhhg." he groaned, clutching at his skull.

Sir Gallante shook his head, still disoriented and confused after the battle. "No... got to keep it... guarding..." he murmured, tightening his grip on the axe haft. The knight was dizzy and befuddled in all things, but in keeping hold of the axe, he was firm and solid. It was like a lifeline, even as the raging energies began to fade.

"What.. are you doing?" he managed, feeling something crawling its way up his legs.

Sir Gallante groaned, shaking his head back and forth. "No, I... she... the Sealed.." he muttered, his grip on the axe weakening, but not releasing as he fought the compulsion to drop it. The woman's lustful charms might have had greater effect on another, but Gallante was as blindly devoted to his wife dead as of over three hundred years ago as he had been when she was alive, and so he resisted.

"You... you are no innocent maiden." he managed, but by this point he was unable to do much beyond grip the axe, his legs firmly rooted in place, and his hand still stayed by Nyx's manipulations.

Sir Gallante shook his head vigorously "No..." he groaned, struggling even to pronounce the single syllable. Even as he said it, though, he could feel control slipping away. He wanted to drop the axe, he knew it was bad for him, should be taken, that Nyx could do that, for him.

His mind was a mess of clouded images, some real, some false - he knew two truths at the same time, neither of which could coincide. His grip loosened, then tightened, then loosened again. He was fighting a losing battle, but it was one he would not give up on...

Sir Gallante grimaced, shaking his head - caressing his cheek had been a poor choice of move on Nyx's part, for it crossed the border in his mind from affection into lust, and this only brought up a further wall in his mind, an avid determination never to betray his sweet wife. "No, no, stop it!" he protested weakly, "I'll never... you can't."

Disoriented and failing fast, Gallante was find it hard to speak, words coming out separate from one another, complete sentences falling far before they reached his lips. "Can't... let anyone... it's important." he groaned.

Sir Gallante 's eyes widened. "You cannot touch her, demon! She was a good soul, her spirit has passed to the Heavens, beyond your reach!" he hissed, anger taking over from confusion and pain, "You cannot touch her! She was a good woman!" he practically yelled, struggling against his bonds.

His anger was reaching a point now that it was dangerously close to reactivating the axe's magic. Here was a subject about which Gallante would not ever rest.

Sir Gallante stared helplessly at Nyx, every fibre of his being crying out in protest, the pain of the constricting tendrils barely noticeable as the turmoil within his mind raged. Surely, this creature could not reach his wife past the pearly gates, and drag her to the fires of hell, surely, that was impossible!

...but could he take that risk?

It was here that Gallante realised: No, he couldn't. Eyes dropping and head drooping, Gallante released his grip on the axe, his form going limp with resignation. He had failed. The axe fell to the floor with a thud, partially embedding its blade in the wood of the floor.

Gallante simply stood, "Go, take it. Begone!"

Sir Gallante 's decapitated head rolled to the floor, leaking blood and gore onto the floor, an expression of shock forever painted upon his face. His body slumped to the ground, falling first to his knees and then to the side, his armour clattering as it hit the wood.

However, moments after his corpse ceased moving, both parts of him began to glow, and dissolve into a shower of glowing white orbs, that flew out through the bar's ceiling. Tomorrow, the knight would awaken once again, and be forced to live with his failure.

It seemed like an age. Perhaps it had been longer.

The knight felt old. He was old, but he felt it more keenly than ever he had before. He knew that his physical form, as ever, remained unchanged, but the weight of years hung heavily on him. As he pushed open the door of the bar, it was even more so.

Gallante hated returning to the sites of his deaths. But it had seemed inevitable that he would return here, so many months later, to where Nyx had struck him down. Gambit's seemed to be the centre of the city.

It was with a heavy heart that Gallante stepped over to the bar, passing the spot he so vividly remembered, and hailed the bartender. "An ale, please." he requested simply.

Sir Gallante sighed, and sipped at his ale. The same patronage seemed to inhabit the bar -- motley, in summary. Dribs and drabs of all peoples, it seemed.

The knight remained silent at the counter, emitting a sense of brooding. He could not help but feel a keen sense of failure, now, returning to the site of his death. He wondered if the sorceress -- he could not even remember her name -- had ever found out about his fate, and the loss of the artefact entrusted with him.
