A breeze would come through the bowed trees as the light became dim, causing the landscape itself to seemingly rustle and whisper in anticipation. A distortion might be felt in one's gut, before in some spectacular perversion of space and time, an unclothed man was hurled from the air some dozen feet away in a flash of gold and blue light. His appearance was accompanied with the sound of twisting metal and the blaring of some garish horn, like that of a truck.

Christopher skidded and rolled a few times before coming to a halt in the cool grass. It took a moment as the world spun for him to regain his bearings, before he drearily lurched upwards into a sitting position. His eyes were bleary as he looked around in dazed confusion.

"Annie...what..." he murmured. With no small amount of surprise he then took in his surroundings. The alien sky overhead, piercingly beautiful with the eclipsed sun, the change in landscape and the two strangers standing not too far away...not to mention his lack of clothes...

He did his best not to panic. So for the moment he occupied himself with looking around, a worried look on his sharp features.

"Annieee?" he called into the wilderness, his voice barely echoing off of distant hills. He stood up, in spite of his nudity and whirled around rapidly.

"Annieeeeee?!" he shouted now, his voice becoming hoarse and shaken. Where was she? What was going on? They had been about to die...was he dead? Was this an afterlife? He glanced back at the people behind him as well as the sky overhead. It was possible.

He turned to them, and in the back of his mind he grew self-conscious of his exposed nature, but dismissed this concern for a more pressing one.

"Where am I? What's going on?" he said, his eyes wild and his voice quavering.

Kianna snorted. "Do you really think we can do all of that from some primitive backwater moon?" she asked. "I always took me for the ambitious one."

She glanced to him for a moment before shaking her head. "No, you lost heart for the war and the politics. I saw it in you back on the Aurora."

She seemed about to say more, but was suitably interrupted by the man appearing out of thin air. As he came to rest on a scraggly patch of grass managing to etch out its existence in the mountainous terrain she arched a brow.

"Do men typically run around naked in the mountains of Argos?" she asked Mollem.

The man's question into his location was completely disregarded in favor of her own.

Sire Mollem McGregor was caught by suprise by the entrance of the strange individual. Mollem didn't hesitate as he reached into his tunic and withdrew his disruptor pistol, disengaging the safety and pointing it to the naked man.

"Men running naked in the mountains of Argos don't typically speak basic." He said, squeezing the stock of the weapon as he pointed it to him.

"Identify yourself!" Mollem called out.

He glanced a moment back to Kianna. "I'm a soldier, not a politician, that's probably why it didn't work." He said, staring down the sights once more at the man.

"I don't like this, where's Raphael."

Well. This served to catch Christopher even more off guard. The guy was pointing some kind of spacey looking gun at him. He cast his eyes down at himself. Did he really look like a threat?

"Geez, Christ, Okay..." Chris said with an angry sneer on his face. This was bizarre. Maybe he'd been knocked unconscious in the crash and this was a dream or something. Or maybe he was in a coma. Whatever. His intuition told him, however, that he should take the man's weapon seriously.

"I-I'm Chris. Er, Christopher Adams...I was..." he trailed off, trying to think of how to explain this. It was a difficult task because not even he understood it.

"I was about to...die? In a car crash. With my...fiancé..." he said in a halting tone, speaking more to himself more than anyone else. "...and we were about to hit the water...and now I'm here. And naked. With a guy pointing a gun at me..."

So forgive me if I seem a little upset...he wanted to say. But didn't...because he had a gun pointed at him.

"Now that we're done with that...I'd appreciate if you answered my questions."

Kianna's raised brow didn't abate as the man explained himself.

"I'm starting to suspect we just drew the short straw on the universe shitting on us lately," she remarked dryly.

She shook her head and moved past Christopher as she continued on in the direction Raphael had disappeared off to. It would seem that the woman had little empathy, nor time to spare for naked men falling out of the air. Then again unlike Mollem, Kianna was Terran and such a spectacle was more or less just another Tuesday for her.

She left Mollem to decide whether to shoot the man, assist the man, or leave him to rejoin her and Raphael.

Sire Mollem McGregor stared at the man for a moment, then he looked to Kianna, and then he scoffed. "Gáma" He spat in Tauron, before he stared at the man, disengaging his weapon and flipping it back into his tunic. "One false move and I won't hesitate to kill you where you stand." He said flatly before he started after Kianna.

"Quare hoc unde fieret?" He said in Anquietas as he turned back to the other male.

"Keep pace, the nearest town is four days walk from here." He said, the bobbing blonde and red silhouette could be made out ahead of them.

"You were about to die in a car crash? Fun times. Unfortunately for you, there are people worse off." He commented.

"I'm not trying to have a pissing contest here..." Christopher said looking back and forth for something, anything that could be used to preserve his dignity.

There was nothing.

"...but I could certainly say the same about you." he scoffed, his eyes squinted. This was due in part to the light growing dim very rapidly, and in part to his foul mood. He kept looking about rapidly, hoping that Anne would come hurtling out of the ether any moment. She did not.

So he followed these strange people in this strange place, whether they liked it or not. Christopher furrowed his brows and wrapped his arms around himself tightly as the air began to cool thinking inwardly...about possibilities...and about grim truths...

"It's like we spoke of," Kianna shouted back over her shoulder, responding to Mollem's Anquietas with the basic tongue. "Play God long enough, and eventually our sins will come back to find us."

Would the day come that they would be made to answer for their sins she had asked. Well it would seem that day was now. Though were they answering for them, or simply running from them? Perhaps it was a bit of both she thought with a shake of her head.

Mollem kept walking alongside the other woman, turning back to watch the other male for a moment, but he sighed. "Perhaps.. I just hope my son knows what he's doing."

Suddenly Mollem came to a stop, and it seemed Raphael quickly followed suit.

Raphael's voice cracked through the ominous silence. "Something's coming." He called out, grabbing his weapon and moving quickly through cover as two bright blue-white lights pierced the darkness, the churning engine of a vehicle echoing through the mountains.

Mollem grabbed Kianna and pulled her to the ground, gesturing for Christopher to get down as well. The Jeep ahead of them came to a stop on a small dirt road.

"Sore wa doko ka ni kotchida." A Voice echoed through the area. A second male voice following suit. "Eria o kensaku shi, yachin wa anata ga nanika o mitsuketara oshietekudasai!"

Raphael growled, while crouching low against some bushes, eyes narrowed.

Mollem looked to Kianna and he squeezed his weapon. "This can't end well." He said, watching flashlights pierce the foliage.

Christopher shook his head and remained in silent consternation as his erstwhile travel companions exchanged what he interpreted to be underhanded insults about him and his presence there. Whatever. Right now they were the best chance for him to figure out what was going on and how to...fix it? Fix it.

When everybody else went all bushy tailed, he gritted his teeth and followed suit. Why they were running from a bunch of guys in a jeep was beyond him, but he didn't consider himself in a position to question anything at the moment. As such, he grit his teeth and dove back into the bush along with Kianna, Mollem and Raphael, supressing the urge to cry out in pain with a branch or some such ground clutter cut his left big toe.

He waited and tried to maintain steady breathing, watching the movements of his comrades carefully.

"You have got to be fucking kidding me," Kianna growled under her breath from the dirt.

She cast a scathingly accusing glance Raphael's way. "You said there wouldn't be any Taiyou here, and that jeep sure as fuck isn't primitive."

She kept her voice to a hushed hiss in the dark.

A naked man, a sword, and one disruptor pistol between the lot of them.

"So, about finding your ship?" whispered lowly to Mollem.

There was a distinct snap, when the foliage cut into their guest. The snap echoed through the valley and immediately got the attention of the Taiyou soldiers off in the distance. Mollem growled as the two men snapped to attention.

"Frakking Raphael." He growled, then he readied his weapon as the Soldiers called out.

"Soko ni! Asoko! Utsu hiraku!"

They ran up to the group, and Mollem peered up and leveled his weapon on the approaching men. He opened fire.

There was a sudden and deafening pop and a blue flash of light as the weapon discharged, sending a streak of light towards the soldier and impacting him square in the chest. There was an audible 'twang' and the bolt of energy seared off in a random direction, but it knocked the Taiyou soldier flat on his rear.

"Karera to tatakau! TENNOHEIKA BANZAI!" He screamed as the second opened fire, muzzle flashes and gunfire barking their report through the valley, bullets screaming downrange and impacting the ground around them, the two soldiers quickly taking cover.

Mollem growled. "Shit, Magnetic Nanosteel." He growled, aiming and firing again and again, trying to hit somewhere to wound them. But with the volume of gunfire, both Mollem and Kianna were pinned down.

Raphael had taken off in a run away from the soldiers, but a second voice pierced the air.

"Muskets paratae! Tolle finis! Sagíttent!" The voice called out, and a line of several men in roman style armor armed with muskets lined up and opened fire, the ping of magically infused musket balls seared through the air. Impacting the men in a volley and freezing them solid in an instant. Mollem turned and raised his weapon at the newcomers, but Raphael held his hands up.

"Stop! They're friends!"

"Fuckin'-" Chris hissed under his breath as a bunch of...space soldiers or something started shooting blue shit into the trees. He wasn't sure how well the trees would do holding up under lasers or plasma or whatever that stuff was, but it was better than nothing. He compressed his frame and hunkered against the rough bark of a larger tree nearby and waited until he heard the gunfire stop.

After the echoes had cleared the air, he peaked out from his cover at the men dressed in bronze, crested armor. This was getting more and more surreal by the minute. He looked down at himself, exposed to the elements, and now covered in scratches and some mud. If these guys were legitimate about the whole roman thing, then Chris wouldn't put it past them to think he was possibly Mollem and Kianna's slave.

He had mixed feelings about that. For the moment, however, he remained silent and stared longingly at the frozen men in super-armor. Maybe there might be a way he could score some of that. At least the pants. Maybe?

Unarmed, Kianna opted for staying low as shots were exchanged. The foliage provided little in the way of suitable cover and she relied largely on the poor visibility and a bit of luck as she waited out the gunfight. Several shots struck the dirt near her and she edged closer to a small rocky protrusion. Another near miss kept her pressed low to the ground and she cast a glance in either direction for better cover. Caught out in the open though, they were pinned down.

What she wouldn't give for her combat suit back she thought wryly.

It wasn't until Raphael's voice rang out and there was a brief lull in the gunfire that Kianna spared a glance towards the road where the Taiyou soldiers were immobilized. She didn't forsake her cover just yet though as she called back.

"If they're friends, what the fuck are they doing with the Taiyou?" she demanded.

Though admittedly the timely arrival of the locals had been to their benefit for the moment.

Meanwhile, Christopher's awkward plight continued to largely go unacknowledged by Kianna and she didn't spare him so much as a glance to see if he had made it through the brief shootout unscathed.

The armor clad man set the butt of his musket on the ground, and he looked to the three Aschen and what they presumed was a slave. "More are on their way." He said, gesturing to the road. "There's not much I can do, the Taiyou tracked your starship to this world." He said, and Raphael rose from his cover.

"We need to find suitable cover." He said, and the man nodded. "Amphipolis is a days walk down the road. Head there, Coranth is too dangerous." He said, gesturing to a craggy carriage path.

"Go, I'll cover you." Alaekos said, and Raphael quickly started to move, Mollem on the other hand moved back to Christopher, and he yanked him to his feet, throwing the man his toga. "Make yourself decent." He said, then he turned to Kianna. "Amphipolis then." He said, looking to Raphael. "You think Marlene's house is still standing?" He said, as they started to walk, Mollem making sure the other man was in tow.

"I should probably fill you in. You're on a planet called Argos, well, it's not really a planet, it's a moon. We've been on the run from the International Court because of some crimes that were alleged. Some mistakes made." Mollem said, moving through the grass while the Locals moved in the other direction.

"Stick close to me if you want to live. If you try to run, my wife here will shoot you in the back." He said, before he moved to introductions.

"I'm Mollem, this is Kianna, and that's my son, Raphael." He said, helping Kianna up so they could keep going.

"Welcome to the lion's den, the Andromeda Galaxy."

Christopher didn't appreciate being patronized by anyone really, but he wasn't in a position to throw any kind of benevolence on these people's part back in their face. This didn't stop him from catching the toga with a begrudging sneer, and he rapidly shrouded himself with the light fabric. He was actually pretty good at wearing a toga in the proper style...college and so forth.

"I get that it's a moon. I did notice the other planet in the sky. I'm not a simpleton." Chris muttered as Mollem went about explaining the situation. That didn't stop him from having a moderate interior freak out at the prospect on being on a distant world in a distant galaxy populated by homicidal assholes and magical romans. His thoughts drifted back to Anne for a moment, wondering what had happened to her. Was she in a similar situation? Cold and exposed and basically alone? The thought was too cruel for him to dwell on: she didn't deserve that.

He took passing note of Mollem's threat and rolled his eyes in spite of it. Ten minutes ago the man could have cared less whether or not he tagged along, now he was laying claim to Chris. Whatever. This Mollem guy was a clown, but there was no point in saying so.

"...just call me Sisyphus." Chris said. It seemed thematically appropriate. He still looked longingly back at the frozen space warriors diminishing behind them, but drew his lips into a thin grimace. The roman...Argosians, whatever...were likely to want to help themselves to the gear. As such, he merely focused on the path ahead and trying not to dread the upcoming pain for his bare feet.

Kianna snorted lightly as Chris reintroduced himself as Sisyphus. She relieved Mollem of his disruptor pistol and tucked it into the back of her pants beneath her tunic. If she was on babysitting duty, she might as well have the gun. Besides, Mollem's threat didn't hold much weight if she was unarmed.

She shook her head again.

"It is going to be a long night," she remarked in rough Anquietas.

Her studies into the Aschen tongue had been progressing well, but her wording remained heavily formalized.

It was a long night indeed, a long night of trudging through rough mountain roads towards the town below.

Morning came with the sun moving past the gas giant and lighting up the horizon once more. They continued to trudge through the path until a town was seen up ahead, while Mollem pulled his cloak close to him. Just adjacent to the city was a small Taiyou base, characterized by a series of Quonset huts, chain link fence, and guards posted at the perimeter. Parked inside the base itself were a few Tsunami tanks scattered about.

Their gleaming white and red hulls seemed to contrast with the rest of the primitive culture inside the walls of the city. Mollem turned to Kianna and then Raphael, and took a breath. "Act natural." He said, sliding his hands into his tunic as he started to walk, all while being scrutinized by a pair of Imperial Warriors. Their futuristic samurai-like armor glinting in the sunlight. Despite being scrutinized, the four were seen as little more than Argosian peasants going to market.

Mollem didn't pay the men a second glance while they passed, of course he had quietly turned to Kianna, as they passed through the gates of the city. "I don't know how safe Raphael thinks this place is, It's crawling with Taiyou." He commented in Anquietas. Of course once they were inside the city, they were surrounded by a crowd of people dressed just like them, with a handful of Legionaries scattered to maintain peace.

Raphael spoke up;

"The house is this way." He said, turning a corner, casually sidestepping a horse and cart.

Christopher noted Mollem's tension as he moved past the space samurai outside of the city gates, and a wry smirk bloomed onto his features which had, up until this point, been solidly dour. Clearly the man and his friends felt less safe around these space warriors, but their presence actually comforted Chris somewhat. Not that he put it past these...Taiyou...people to be any less foul than his current companions, but he was guessing that it would make Kianna far more reticent to pull out her laser pistol in sight of any of them, lest she draw attention to them.

Which was good for him. Because despite his scuffed, aching, bruised feet, he was actually rather excited to be walking around a real ancient city. Logically he understood that it wasn't technically ancient, but he had always been intrigued by ancient ruins and so forth, and he couldn't help but wonder in what ways they were similar and how they were different from their Earthly counterparts.

At least Chris didn't feel like the odd one out any more; he passed for any one of these locals far better than any of his comrades. And given the fact that there were so many of these Taiyou about, Chris considered the tenability of selling out these McGregor people. It might get him a ticket to somewhere where he could more easily search for Anne...or answers in general.

Kianna shook her head in response. "We should never have come here," she replied quietly in Anquietas.

She pressed through the crowd of locals as Raphael led them along, noting with no shortage of distaste the smell. You always knew primitive cultures by their odor. The matter of physical hygiene was what set the pretenders apart from the locals, though the trek through the mountains, and the shoot-out in the dirt had them blending in relatively well among the unwashed masses.

As she was briefly cut off from Raphael by the horse drawn cart that rolled past she cast Christopher a glance, her eyes watchful. Kianna was a distrustful individual by nature, and Christopher had yet to escape her suspicious scrutiny.

As the route cleared a moment later she too crossed the street to catch back up with Raphael.

"What are you planning to do with the dead weight?" she asked Mollem, still speaking Anquietas.
