Somne

Psychedelic Automata!

0 · 69 views · located in The Infinite Void

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by BurgundyMStone

Description

[[it is completely admitted that the design hearkens openly to the works of Alessandro Barbucci, Barbara Canepa, and Marina Bychkova. Their art is awesome, I do encourage you to check out the following links:

Physical

The avatar stands at average female height, topped off by bold hair- Lilac with high and lowlights, and a sprinkling of holographic hairs. Sometimes it is in a giant afro puff and headband, others marbled dreads, and others yet just a huge mess of kinks and waves. Her face is wildly expressive, going from its normal indolent setting to broad smiles and intense, wide eyes. Those eyes are pretty, but unrealistic. Thick, long dollish lashes frame glittering gems for irises that look like faceted carnival glass and catch all available light.(like this but radially faceted. http://ny-image2.etsy.com/il_570xN.82895090.jpg ) The surrounding skin, upper and lower, is splashed with a soft cloud of color, either magenta or teal. Her mouth is gorgeous; full and cushy, and yet almost, almost to wide for her face, lending her a vivid smile and powerful pout.

Rounded, somewhat pointed and forward-facing ears peek from the sides of her head, the centers inset with some sort of audio device. Wears large earrings of fun shapes or discs- generally brightly colored or holographic.

Her body is perfectly proportioned to seem both standard and yet...remarkable. Her waist is long and slender, dropping into wide hips and shapely legs. Her limbs, delicate. Skin somewhere between 'freshly washed and baby soft' and velvet. Inorganic. Immaculately gapless ball-jointing with subtle seams here and there. Sports a few markings inlaid with titanium finish or gold fuming.

Clothing: A sleeveless mini tubedress of a dark grey, metallic material that has an iridescent oil slick look to it. Tight enough to have been painted on, it looks like.

Notable: There is a keyhole at the base of the spine. Her feet are metal openwork. Her body gives off a soft mechanical whirr and ticking in close quarters. She can, and often will, spout smoke comprised of whichever herb, color or oil extract is appropriate at the time.

Personality

Personality:

The matter-of-fact mannerisms and colloquial speech coming from this construct often throw one for a loop. Sometimes spouts off about Universial Connectivity, Energy, Matter, and general psychobabble, all delivered in her feathery little voice. (She sounds kind of dreamy and wishy-washy, sometimes a little mad. Maybe like a mix between Princess Daphne from Dragon's Lair with a little Luna Lovegood to tone it down?)

She's excitable, mercurial, and extremely entertaining.

Equipment

Internally stored phials.

History

Somne is the property and invention of an amazingly skilled robotic scientist and quantum physicist that dabbles in Astronomy. She is his companion in the late hours, but by day her job is to curate his fantastic Orrery.

~The Orrery is Somne's proper domain. The automaton upkeeps and curates the massive space. An impressive gold-accented model of our neighborhood galaxy rotates on a slow, gargantuan rotation. The pieces, all told, form a glorious machine that reaches higher than a house. Arcs of gold orbits, shimmering lacquered planets, bits of fumed glass on gossamer wires dance in a star's calculation. A diode-covered planetoid even crackles with a simulated electrical storm. There is a hum in the glass-domed housing that fills the space with an eternal chant. While fantastical, none of it is improbable. Nothing, of course, excepting the dissolving ceiling... it vanishes before your eyes, replaced by a view of space itself so tangible you can see the milky spill of constellations in the third dimension.

A circular catwalk rings the higher reaches of the room for proper observation, accessed by a gold spiral staircase of filigreed steps. At the landing, a small table of phials, a small dish of pills, a decanter and a smoke box. On the first floor one can stand and nearly touch the cogs and gears that give rotation to the machine, though there seems to be something glowing inside, and it is likely that this is truly what gives it power, much like the crystal drive that ultimately runs the friendly doll. Surrounding it, a sweeping, c-shaped couch that curls into a tete-a-tete at either end.

This, of all places, is the perfect surrounding for mind-opening activities and discussions.~

So begins...

Somne's Story

Somne clacked into the bar with an unnaturally wide, well-meaning smile (compared to the regular gloomy inhabitants). It wasn't her body which made the noise, but her heelless shoes that angled her unusual feet straight down. Her balance wasn't disrupted in the least, and the doll wiggled and shimmied her way through the tables, grinning all the while. With each step, her 'hair' bounced lightly. Today her 'do was made of ostrich feathers, dyed light purple and cut in a high, poofy, curly bob. No matter how dim, any light that met her dress reflected off of the iridescent fabric. It was certainly eye-catching. Irises of glittering vitrail glass peered around the room, and she honed in on an order panel as if she'd already known it was there. "Hmmmm." It was a needless exclamation, really.

Somne sat in a booth, looking delightfully out of place. This place was dim and slightly grimy, worn and well-favored, filled with films of lust and hate and pain that clung like tobacco smoke to the rafters. But the automaton was bright, wearing a blissful smile on her sleepy face. Her body was flawless, her dress fluid and tight, sucking in the light from her surroundings and regurgitating liquid rainbow reflections. A diaphanous mess of feathery lilac waves spilled from her head and into the seat behind her as she sat, taking in the bar's inhabitants with glimmering vitrail eyes and flawless audio receptors.

Somne scanned through the conversations, smiling dreamily. Plush lips parted, and issued a cloud of faintly teal-colored vapors that rose up above the android's head and spread in a thin cloud that fanned in the air above her.

Somne had been sitting in the bar for quite some time, blissfully watching the inhabitants as if they were anything other than generally brooding, antisocial and self-important. They were people, and that's what made them so darned interesting! It wasn't until a crowded table of five or so left that the automaton was bared to the room and bar, almost comically bright and cheery when compared to the dingy booth in which she sat, with its splitting wood and cracked leather. Her body was flawless, her tight dress resplendent, her eyes glimmered in full-spectrum reflections when they caught the light. A mess of lilac waves tumbled back from her headband and past her pointed ears, tucking behind her shoulders. Somne sat with her hands on her chin, long purple lashes batting as she took in the absolutely stunning array of people here, tonight.

Somne stood up from her seat suddenly and tapped her way to the bar. A thought! An inspiration! Well, Somne was no longer so new as for that to be an unusual occurrence. With her unnaturally well-kept hair bouncing on her shoulders, the doll shimmied up to an order screen and frowned at it, deep in thought. Water or Gin? While the two were so terribly different that a human would never have needed to make a choice between the two, Somne could process both hydrogen and esters, and honestly didn't know which one she wanted. Like a simple-minded caricature of an easily confused woman, Somne pouted, tapping a jointless finger on her neat little chin.

"Hmm..."

Somne made her decision with a bit more pride than it seemed to warrant, and touched the screen. Gin AND tonic! With a wide grin the android leaned forward on the bar, her feathery hair settling between subtly paneled shoulderblades, her oily-colored dress hugging wide hips. Fidgeting like a human, she tapped the toe of her shoe on the ground, before piping a little 'oh!' and moving to take a seat on a stool. She smiled contently down at the thing as she crossed her legs, and- ah, her drink popped up. She regarded the fluid with sleepy contentment before letting it pass her cushy lips.

Somne primped at the bar, decisively ignorant of the more serious goings on and choosing to appear rather... simple, all things concerned. She took a long swallow of her drink and twirled her hair around a finger capped with a pretty, glittery nail. Since things were just so hum-drum and grey, the automaton cheered up her immediate surroundings with some faint, upbeat electronica that slipped from the faintly 'hidden' speakers in her ears. Her eyes closed and her foot bobbed to the rhythm, her long, shapely torso rocking and bending in an unnaturally fluid and controlled motion.

She was so immersed that she was rather surprised by the.. uh... man that approached her, though even that would be a lie.

"Oh! Hello..." Why, she looked a bit tipsy. But that was just her neutral expression. Vitrail eyes gave him a very thorough once-over, and her smile widened. "Well I am! I was made only three years ago. What's your name?" Wow...she sounded positively stupid. It was the feathery innocence and enthusiasm in her voice. Perfect design.

Somne looked to the altercation only because this be-tentacled man did, and her brows rose high on her adorably shaped forehead as if she was interested, but too stupid to see what he was so worked up about. When he looked back she offered up a happy, dopey grin, as if she was just so happy to be the object of his focus again. Object indeed.

She had already turned down her music, and so the pleasant tapping and electronic thrumming was a faint backdrop to their conversation. Like a coquette, the doll tipped her head and shifted in her seat, crossed knees facing the suited criminal. "Abraham.." She repeated like a good little parrot, letting his name roll off of her- yes, fleshy-looking tongue- with as much appeal as it could garner. She giggled and leaned back on the stool, eying him over another sip. "I'm Somne." She purred. "If you're curious, I'm the curator and guide at Franco Hisakawa's Interpersonal Orrery." The words rolled from intelligent lips, well articulated and smooth, despite how airheaded she sounded. But.. surely that was just one of a handful of pre-prepared responses, right?

Somne was very close to human! Or so she felt. Felt.. haha.. well, she did. She slipped her free hand up the side of her long neck as he spoke, her foot bobbing somewhere near his pant leg. She huffed a quiet nasal laugh and sighed. From her faintly parted, velvety lips issued a thin cloud of vapor. It smelled absolutely addictive, but there was but little of it.

"It was and is. I assist Dr. Hisakawa in his studies, guide guests through their transcendental journeys and conduct speeches on his behalf on robotics and quantum sciences." Oh, she mused about it like a vapid socialite describing the many shoes in her closet. She ended the explanation with an appealing but unnecessary giggle, and leaned in. "What about you?"

Somne could have been a damned assassin, for all he knew. After all, doesn't a man like him have enemies? But no, this little toy was for pleasantries, not death. While she was all but chomping at the bit do delve into planetary alignments and cerebral sciences, this man deftly maneuvered away from even beginning to care about that topic.

She just smiled blithely. What a flirt. Planetary bodies? While plausible, she knew it wasn't wholly correct, and he was falsely catering to her interests. As if aware (and who wouldn't be?) of the path of his little eyes, the doll tilted her hip, her body dipping in at a fetching curve, the iridescent colors of the fabric of her dress shifting like colored puddles on the wet-looking fabric. She had a wasp waist and a considerable chest. Her breasts seemed to compress slightly beneath the tight-hugging dress; he could be assured they were soft. Why, all of her responded properly; every bit of her that touched something solid showed itself to be malleable. Her hips were wider than one would expect of an android, but she had been build with very specific tastes in mind, obviously. Her laugh had her tilting her head aside, and her pale purple hair swayed behind her back.

"Ah-hah.... You want to know if I'm available, don't you?"

Somne picked up her glass and finished off the drink, her eyes all but hooded by long, thick lashes. "Your hotel room?" My, but she said it so innocently! Why, she never! Her eyes fluttered wide, brilliant and multicolored, and her pretty nails splayed at the top of her chest. "Abraham, who said I'm willing to come?" She turned away, looking at the orderscreen nearby, and cut a wide grin at him, her lashes lowering once again.

"An empty hotel room is the perfect place to meditate, or read a nice book. Perhaps you can call room service for a massage."

Somne inhaled slowly, as if taking a deep breath to help her assess the offer. But as she began to speak again, a thin blue-white cloud escaped her lips. A vaporized tincture of a mildly psychoactive flower, thinned in the air. The act was so similar to a smoker exhaling that it may have taken him a second to realize that she didn't have a cigarette on her at all.

"Well, just because I'm artificial doesn't mean I don't like to be buttered up. But a man like you seems to be used to getting his way." She cooed, letting her eyes wander down his suited torso.
