Description

Spader Red
( The Man With the red scarf )

Image

Red has no idea who he was or what kind of life he once lived, nor he doesn't know why he's even alive. His oldest memory is a pair of ghoulish red eyes, and blood, more than any person will ever see in their life. 10 years ago he awoke completely naked and confused with an strange sword laying next to him, he had no idea id he ever held a weapon like it a day in his life before that day but when he first touched the blade it felt like in his hands is where it belonged. Every time he closed his eyes all he could see was those eyes and countless men and women being cut down all around him, where some men would crumble under the weight of such horrific visions he did not, instead he sought out answers. The only problem is: when a man goes looking for answers, he finds them, people are inclined to think they'd rather know the truth but some things are better left unknown.

What he learned after a full year of searching was that he was the only survivor of a viscous slaughter at the hands of demons, many died that day including his own parents. He sometimes is sickened by himself when he grateful that he'd lost all his memories of his life prior and because of this he did not truly feel his own loss because he no longer knew his parents or how close they were, still he felt that it was his responsibility as the only survivor to avenge their deaths. He was 15 then but that did not stop him, he used that sword he had awaken with to become a hunter and he's been cutting down all manner of beast ever since, especially demons because he hoped that one day he will find the demon from that day and bring it to it's knees. But recently he's felt something rising inside him, growing, like a darkness creeping out from deep within his very soul and several times he has blacked out in the middle of being locked in a fight for his life against a creature only to wake up hours later with that same creature in pieces all around him.

He's chosen to think it is a result of adrenalin rushes that cause him to fly off into fits of rage, on that he is only partly true. The horrible truth he has yet to uncover is that he is the one who killed his own parents and many others on that day 10 years ago, or rather the demon inside him. 10 years ago was the first time it had awakened within him and took total control of his body and it has been dormant inside him ever sense, until now. He chooses to credit his incredible prowess as hunter to his own fortitude and to all the teachers he has had thus far, but in reality it comes from that darkness within him, it gives him the instincts he needs to come out on top no matter what. Just two simple instincts: To survive, and to kill.

a faint sound would be heard coming from the darkness of an long ally between the abandoned buildings of the slums, about a minute passed and the sounds grew more audible and where clearly the sounds of footsteps, something else was coming and coming fast. The footsteps echoed from long ally, the footsteps were not as heavy as the bloody brown husk of a creature so whatever it was, it wasn't nearly as big. Suddenly and without warning a long blade came flying from the darkness and hit it's mark cutting right into the side of the creature's neck, it let out a horrible noise that was a cross between a howl and some gurgling mouthwash, the creature wailed as it chocked on it's own blood and in no time at all it fell to the ground.

From the shadows of the dark ally emerged a dark figure carrying a grey crystal slab, he held it up to the bloody husk of a creature and when there was no reaction from the crystal he pocketed it and proceeded to retrieve his blade with a grunt. " Whatever you are, you're no demon...what a waist of time " He said as he looked around from the cowards that fled from the weak beast but they were no where in sight so he began to walk in the direction he saw them go, all manners of creatures lurked in these long abandoned slums much more fearsome and he knew if they stayed they were still in danger. more creatures like the one he'd just taken down would be drawn to their humanity like moths to a flame.

when he finally came across the fleeing couple it appeared like they had already drawn more trouble, he had no idea what to make of the creature that stood before the two of them but this crystal did not glow so it was not a demon. "You should go downtown if you want demons... Place is full of them." the man said, Red returned the comment by spitting on the ground near his own feet. " It seems I have all I need to keep my self occupied right...here " he retorted as he pointed his blade at the green man " I'm afraid I can't let you go around feeding on humans, not while I'm around at least so I suggest you find somewhere else to feed you filthy blood sucker " his tone was dead serious and his eyes were like daggers, he didn't make a habit of playing the hero and he didn't care much for other people but he did still have a conscious that would not let him walk away from this without intervening. He began to approach the green man with the toothy smile with his sword still pointed at him " Go on, just walk away and make this easy for all of us "

he proceeded to spit at the ground just as before and turned back towards the couple and gave them a very intense look, it was clear he was not happy with either of them " get out of this place, now, there is a reason this place is abandoned and I won't wait around all day to protect you. If you don't want to die in this place, get out " on that note he turned and sprinted towards the closest building, he jumped up and placed the balls of his right foot firmly on the verticle surface and with that foot he pushed up to build his momentum. Within moments he had scaled the building and was off to continue his hunt, from here on out they were once again on their own

The main entrance of Gambit's Bar began to open slowly at first, but a strong gust of cold air the cut down to the bones forced it open so that the doorknob slammed against a rubbery stub on the wall placed to prevent the knob from being damaged or making unnecessarily loud noises when slammed open, flakes of snow flew in as well but melted in midair as soon as they came into contact with the artificial heat of the air conditioner but the other patrons would feel the icy chills of the winter wind as long as the door hung open. /me walked into the bar at an inconsiderate slow pace, took a nice long drag of the stubby remains of his last bud and tossed it outside only for it to be blown back inside but no one would be paying enough attention to notice, he could see the looks of frustration on the faces of the bar's patrons as they waited for him to close the door but he just took his time and looked around. His eyes stopped on one women who he could easily label the most attractive woman in the bar so far, but she was already getting frisky with another. Just as he was about to continue inspecting the place there was a loud thud accompanied by the sound of mugs rattling on a table " Shut the damn door! " a disgruntled, and probably a tad drunk man shouted. And so he did without hesitation.

Spader removed his hat, tucking it under his right arm while he tilted his chin down to his chest only to flip it back up in order to move the locks of brown hair from his face. He then loosed his signature red scarf a little as the last of the left over chills were expelled by the toasty air of the bar, he wondered for a second if he would get charged if anyone were to find out he was concealing a weapon but he decided that he would cross that bridge if and when he came to it and continued to take a seat at the bar quietly.

" well shit! " exclaimed spader as he began to desperately began pat himself where the pockets on his coat were, he quickly realized that it was all for not, he'd left his pack of cigarettes at home " hey, chick with the black hair. The hot one " he called out from his seat at the bar which was not too far from the flirtatious duo " Excuse me if I'm interrupting you're...mating rituals, but could you spare this poor sod a cigarette? It'd be forever in your debt " He was joking about that last part of course, but he had foolishly left his whole pack of at home and he figured it was safe to assume he left it right on the dresser in front of the door of his dumpy apartment. He often put things in places he knew he's have to look on his way out but still managed to forget them very often, he sometimes wondered how he survived so long as absent minded as he was.

Spader Red promptly slapped his palm across his face when she revealed what her " cigarette " actually were, he was visibly deflated now that he had to go without his smokes for quite a while until he got home. The feeling the nicotine have him was the only thing that kept those horrid vision out of his mind for a while. With a sigh he allowed the hand to slid down his face and that's when he noticed the other girl still patiently waiting for her hand to be shaken " You wouldn't happ- " He was about to ask her if she had a cigarette but he decided against it as it would most likely make him look rude, not that he wasn't but he didn't make a habit of showing his worse qualities to women. He reached out with a gloved hand to shake hers " Namine huh? Well you can just call me Red " he said with a sideways smile that looked a bit forced

He had already began to get the " itch " the moment he walked in the bar that told him he was in the right place to spill the blood of whatever demonic energy he had been feeling, or more accurately the energy his sword felt. The sword he always kept with him could pick up on sources of demonic energy and the stronger the energy the more the sword reacted, some were so good at masking it along with their true forms that he sometimes cannot pinpoint it's source so up until now he continued to act as naturally as possible, had he came in guns a blazin' so to speak then he could very well have been outnumbered by multiple enemies.

Well now the source was as clear as day, but he had to exorcise a great amount of restraint because he was still suspicious of those four sisters as well as the woman one of them flirted with. There were just too many unknowns for him to act recklessly, so he just continued his facade and smiled, even chuckled at the way she addressed her sisters. " Don't worry about it, I've dealt with much worse "

His expression quickly soured, he absolutely hated his mind being invaded in any way because it made him feel vulnerable, at that was a feeling he absolutely despised above all others. At that moment he quickly stood from his seat and was ready to draw his sword but decided against it in the end, he didn't plan on actually using it but he would draw just to get his point across, but there is no way they would know that and Lawless. He would no doubt react to the sword being drawn and Spader did not want a fight to break out in such a limiting space if it didn't have to " Not the enemy you say? I won't buy that crap, the only life I've ever known has been hunting and killing your kind so I know just how devious you can be " He placed his hat back on his head where it belonged and tightened his scarf around his neck, anger was written all over his face. His life has always been pretty black and whit, demons are evil point blank so naturally every cell in his body told him not to trust a word she or her sisters said, now that he knew for a fact who the enemies were he realized he was right about the situation. He was outnumbered and knew he could not take them all alone, he is after all only human, or so he thinks " mark my words, all of you. I will kill you, I'll kill each and every one of you one day " and at that he backed towards the door, careful not to expose his back to them. Reaching behind him he opened the door and made a quick exit, leaving it wide open with the cold winter winds blowing into the bar

Red looked back in the direction of the colorfully haired women with a smirk " Maybe I do, I've seen a lot of things but never have I seen so much color in one place, one one person." He retorted just as the bar itself was bombarded with plant life, his grin diminished into a frustrated frown as an Elf man accompanied with a wolf entered the bar ' Typical ' he thought, it was very much like their kind to unnecessarily weave their elven magics where it was not wanted or needed. He was somewhat impressed though by the fact that the man somehow changed the season from Winter to Spring on his own so instantaneously " I suppose this time of thing is normal " he continued as he turned his attention back to Tora

Spader Red stood up from the seat he had been in for less than fifteen minutes and joined the multicolored woman, crushing plants beneath his boots with each step " Yeah it's magic, Elf magic more precisely and let me tell you no magic in existence could be more obnoxious." he said as he was finally standing next to where she sat, with the added company of the saber wielding man the bar's attraction diminished. " How about you and me go somewhere less.." he looked around trying to find an apt word to describe it, but he could not "..less like THIS " he finished, it was clear he was not particularly fond of magic.

He noticed her hesitation but didn't take offense, it was actually a good sign because anyone willing to go off somewhere with a stranger without being just a little suspicious wasn't right in the head " Don't worry, I'm not a murdering psychopath, I promise " He said holding up his hands innocently, he then reached out with his right hand for a handshake and to help her up " I'm Spader, but most people call me Red " he said with a smirk as he tugged at his scarf lightly " whichever you prefer. I was thinking we could just go to the Plaza in wing City, unless you'd prefer a different location " He chose their because it was more public as to put her at ease about it, little did he know she had just taken her own precautions.

The doors or Gambits opened slowly and a man who's bright red scarf stood out among his otherwise neutral colored wardrobe step inside, there was a cigarette hanging from the corner of his mouth and a steady stream of smoke trailed it's way up to the ceiling from the tip of the bud. He removed it, cleared away the ash with a light tap from his finger and then placed it into his left coat pocket, it still had some life left in it so there was no point in throwing it out just yet. The moment he stepped in he could feel the familiar hum of his sword that remained strapped to his back, sheathed and hidden by his coat, the hum was extremely faint but many years with it as his companion taught him to pay close attention and heed it's subtle warning.

There would be no doubts about it, there were demons about within the bar but that is where the usefulness of the swords warning system came to an end. It was not capable of showing him exactly who the demon was, while they are disguised in human flesh he has to trust in his own discernment. He's found that the easiest way was to look them in the eyes, for demons could physically replicate human bodies and minds to perfection but what they could not replicate was the human soul, and he could see it in their empty eyes.

Red quietly took a seat in a booth near the entrance of the bar, from there he had a clear view of every person in the bar and it limited his ability to be taken by a surprise attack. He'd almost fell victim to them more than once, back before he was fully aware pf the powers the blade had as well as the drawbacks. Yes it told him when demons were near, but it was also a beacon for other demons that he was a hunter, it's almost as if they could sense death on his blade, or smell the blood of the many demons slain with it. Because of this, more aggresive demons have attempted to strike first and kill him before he could do the same, but him sitting in Gambit

Spader Red continued to watch and as time continued to pass it was clear that waiting for the demon, who ever they were disguised as, to look his way so he could make the eye contact he needed in order to pick them out of the crowd of humans..and other, that gathered in the bar. With a sigh he pushed his way out of the booth and began to make his way around the bar, he would have to take more of a personal approach to this if he was to be successful. He began to think and put his knowledge to the test, of all his years of hunting he's learned that women are the best candidates to be demons in disguise as humans. Men are prideful creatures and even if they take on human form or occupy a human's body, they tend to flaunt their power or have an air of superiority about them, having no fear of any hunter that could potentially come after them because A. They have never encountered any out of pure luck, or B. They've already had run ins with a few and has killed enough to have no fear of hunters. From what he could see no one fit the bill, so he would begin with the women.

His first suspect was Zara, he could clearly see she was inhuman but there were many other things she could be other than a demon but just as he was about to make his approach she up and left the bar leaving her companion stunned at first, and then frustrated. He could still feel the faint hum so that meant she was crossed off the list. Which meant his suspects were narrowed down to a blonde and a white haired young women that she conversed with

Before he began to make his move something else caught his attention, nothing nearly as important but too odd to ignore, a girl wearing dark sunglasses INDOORS, a yellow sun dress? And a backpack? All in the middle of a frigid winter? What could she be thinking, it was painfully obvious she was up to something dressed so... conspicuously inconspicuous for lack of a better word. Even stranger still was her backpack, there was clearly something large and bulky stuffed inside, he would merely watch and wait to see what shnanagins unfolded.

He only had to follow her line of sight to see what she was up to, she was scoping out the few vampires in the room and then she foolishly spilled a bottle of pills all over the floor and caught her " targets " attention, it took only moments for him to put the pieces together it seems, and he was not happy. Red had to step in " Armatures " he mumbled as he walked over to whe

Spader Red stopped his approach for now, hoping who ever the man that decided to lend a helping hand would be able to successfully diffuse the situation, if not then Red was ready to step in where it was necessary. For all he know the whole klutz thing could be apart of her act to seem helpless in front of her target, regardless it seemed the vampire had come to the same conclusion but had no intention of attacking unless forced to retaliate " He's right, if you're looking to get killed then you're on the right track with a get up like that " He chimed in, he was glad thing didn't go south.

Spader Red could do nothing but sit back and laugh and their little exchange " look like we have a little spit fire " he said aloud but more to himself than to anyone specific and he took a seat near her and the naive gentlemen who came to her rescue so to speak. " How about we save all the name calling and damnation " he chimed in once again, the whole thing was quickly turning from a possibly deadly encounter to simple banter. " instead, why don't you cut the crap and tell me what you were planning? Whatever it was you've clearly failed, horribly "

" Oh come on " he urged her " There's no way you think playing dumb is fooling anyone here, there is a reason you wore those shades, that dress and there's a reason you have...whatever is in that backpack. " he said gesturing towards the bulky bag " I'm no fool, and I'm guessing neither are you. You came here to kill, and I want to know why, do you hunt alone or are you here with someone else? " His tone had begun to change, where he was more playful before now he was more serious, as if he was expecting his questions to be answered soon.
