EGO's image performed another shallow bow and then spoke. "The information has been received. I am connecting you with Warden Vena Kenshi", said the AI. A minute passed.

The AI's image shrunk to the bottom corner of the screen and a live video feed of Warden Kenshi took up the largest portion. "Alloway Stryfe. I will make sure this information gets into Councilor Chevalle's hands. Your people have done a wonderful job and you have our thanks. We will arrange safe passage into Ayenee but we can not jump our assets into the SOL system without an intergalactic incident. We can meet you in the system you call Barnard. It is not more than six light years away from your sun. Is this satisfactory?", said Vena.

"No." Stryfe said to Vena, "Chevalle seems to be involved in what's going on. John Rosenthal's daughter is missing, Rosenthal left a coded message calling Chevalle a traitor and mentioning that someone has his daughter." Stryfe informed the woman. "If Chevalle is involved, we need to make sure he doesn't know that he's being suspected or that we have new information." She said.

"We can't give him any time to cover his tracks." The Invictus leader told Vena, "You came to me and my people to do a job. I want it to be a job well done." Stryfe said, "If Chevalle is trying to start a war, it's best that he thinks no one knows. At least until we get more evidence." The woman told Vena.

"My people will meet with your own in Barnard as soon as possible."

It was a rare sight to see the leader of the Invictus out in public enjoying a warm cup of tea like she was just anybody. But, there she was. Fatin Alfarsi, dressed in a black suit with her eyes on a laptop computer. Her eyes only left it to shake hands with some people who thought she could run in the next election, or who thought her job was like an action movie.

It was sometimes. Couldn't be helped in a place like Wing City on a planet like Terra in a universe that seemed to always be at war in some fashion.

Unlike most days, Fatin wasn't swarmed by bodyguards. Things had calmed down for the Invictus and Wing City, there wasn't much need. Just a few men and women over at the teahouse's bar ordering the drinks they knew instead of trying the more exotic flavors from Japan.

It was calm. It was quiet. Fatin enjoyed that. Maybe she needed more breaks.

A teahouse was always somewhere Kenji could find peace from the overwhelming oppression of society. The dull thrum of ongoing life, fading into the darkness, it sometimes was all too much. But there was a heartbeat in Kenji, the equal thrum back of resistance and spirit.

Clad in a travelers cloak, he probably looked closer to a hobo than the ronin he would insist he was. He wore short black hair along his jawline which lead to a ponytail tied up at the back, and there was a patch covering his left eye. Firmly attached to the belt beneath his cloak was a sheath, for a katana no doubt judging by the curve, shape and length.

He smoothly drifted across the room, ordering a tea in passing as he spied a table that sported a lone woman, occasionally harassed by passers-by. That alone was enough interest to him, and he couldn't help but let his curiosity get the better of himself as he strode towards her. He came to a halt at the side and tilted his head down, bowing it slightly as a form of hello.

"Ah, are these seats taken?" he asked, thick accent hanging on his words.

"What?" Fatin asked, looking up at Kenji. She looked him over, raising an eyebrow at his attire. Either he was poor, weird, or one of those people who just didn't give a damn how they looked. "I'm sorry, no. I mean, take a seat if you'd like." She told him, closing her laptop and pushing it to the side.

She smiled, showing no teeth as she looked at the man. She was curious about him. The eyepatch, his accent, and the fact that he approached her were enough to pique her curiosity.

"What can I help you with?" The Invictus leader asked, eyebrow raising slowly at her inquiry. Her own words coated with an accent that sounded clearly English, but couldn't be pinned to any specific region or dialect.

"Tea?" She asked.

Kenji gave a happy smile, no creases on his face giving away that he couldn't be all that far into his twenties. He moved to seat himself opposite her, behind her laptop. Once comfortable as he raised his head and tilted it, as if not understanding for a moment.

"Help?" he echoed, then shook his head, "I do not need help, but thank you. Unless you know the right direction to go." He broke into light laughter, as if telling a joke. But he continued as if it was nothing. "No I have a tea coming."

"I am Kenji Hiro," he offered, followed by a slightly stiff bow of his head again, this time as if introducing himself, "The only help I need is to find- ah, some-thing I lost."

Fatin's smile became more amused, she couldnlpt but enjoy his laugh at what she figured was supposed to be a joke. Or a pun. She couldn't actually what it was supposed to be. Maybe Kenji was just a little nuts.

"Right." She said, nodding her head respectually to the man. "I'm Fatin Alfarsi, leader of the Invictus Private Military Company." She said, introducing herself. "I lead with that information because it's nice to say you lead something." The woman told Kenji, taking a sip of her own tea.

"What's lost? I may not be able to help, but you never know." Fatin said, "I might be the person you're destined to meet. I don't believe in destiny, but still. You get it, right?" She asked.

A quirk of the eyebrow hinted that maybe she had just struck onto the right word. The perfect word, even. "Destiny?" he echoed, eyes wandering up to the ceiling in thought as his tea arrived. His palms wrapped around the cup and head lowered to sip. When the cup was lowered once more he finally spoke four words; "I believe in destiny."

He set the cup onto the table and smiled. "The thing I've lost is, ah, you may think I am silly. I have lost my destiny." He gave a low, embarrassed chuckle, but it was too late to stop now. "It is my destiny to find my destiny. And if I cannot, I shall make a new one myself."

Under the embarrassment there was a slight puff of his chest, a pride that rolled like thunder beneath his skin and wanted to burst free, but was kept restrained.

"You've lost your destiny?" Fatin asked, falling silent for a moment. She leaned back, bring a finger up to the scars on her lips and those near the left corner of her mouth and left cheek. She always touched them when she was thinking.

She nodded, her smile disappearing for only a moment before it returned. "I guess that makes sense. You're lost. Not literally, but you've lost yourself. Who you are." She said to Kenji, "I was the same way for awhile, it's why I know the words for it." The woman explained.

"Solutions this kind of problem are not universal, but for I decided to end my old life and start a new one. You never completely cut those old ties to your old self, but starting something new always helps in the long run." Fatin told the man.

She had left out the part about hard it was, but Kenji seemed like the kind of man who could handle himself and his own demons. He was still alive, after all.

"My old life?" he echoed with a finger rising up to scratch the tip of his nose, once again pondering on her words. "My old life was a scholar and a pacifist. But I think I put that to rest a while ago. But I guess you could say, I have been lost since then." His mouth slowly sunk from a smile to a frown as he tilted his head down to address his tea and take another sip.

"I gained a reason to fight, but that is also lost. What does a man who gave up one life for another do when his life leaves him?" He laughed lightly, as if trying to shrug it off, and for the most part it seemed like it worked, his smile and easy going attitude returning. Not a worry in the world. Just the prime worry of never knowing what tomorrow would be.

Fatin was still thinking, her hand had never left her face. The other grabbed her tea, fingers drumming against it as she listened to and watched Kenji. "A scholar and a pacifist who became a fighter?" She asked Kenji. She plopped her elbows on he table and leaned in towards the ronin.

"Why did you fight?" Fatin asked simply, "Why did you fight? Who did you fight for? What did you fight for? Why can't you fight anymore?" She asked.

He raised one hand up and over behind his head, brushing through his hair as the other raised and waved back and forth. It seemed just to be in his nature to laugh when things were too much. "Slow down!" he insisted lightly, letting his hands fall to rest on the edge of the table. "I fought because I met a woman and I had to protect her from someone bad, even though I think she was more powerful than me!" More chuckles slipped free.

"We went our separate ways, and I ran out of bad people to fight." He soft exhalation left his nostrils as he settled, lower lip sticking out as he thought some more before he continued. "There are many bad people in the world, and I could fight them, but would I be doing right? Can one man even fight all the bad people?" He sighed again, leaning his jaw on a fist and elbow on the table.

"No."

It was as simple as that for Fatin. Can one man fight all the bad people? To her you set yourself up to fail if you even tried, or you became just as bad as the bad people you fight.

"He who fights monsters must take care that does not become himself. For when you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes back." Fatin said to Kenji. "I'm paraphrasing, but it's those words that helped me out when I found out that in doing what I was doing I was helping the bad people." She continued.

"No one man can fight all the bad people. But, he can fight enough battles and inspire enough people to do the same that good wins the war. But, to win a war you need army. An army of benevolence." She said, "Maybe you should become a bounty hunter, or a lawman. A bodyguard, maybe?"

Fatin shrugged, "They may not be occupations that you're looking for, but they may very well be stepping stones to finding yourself again. And your destiny."

"The Serpent Son would never become a monster," Kenji said with sudden boldness and a puffed out chest, "And if he was a monster he would become king of monsters, and bring them under his rule." He broke into laughter broad laughter, but this time he had an explanation.

"I said to my brother the same quote, and that was how he answered me." He slowly leaned backwards and let his head stare up at the ceiling. "Ehhh..." escaped his mouth, "Sweep up evil and draw in goodness in one blow like a whirlwind of justice? I do like to imagine it."

He snapped upright, forefinger and thumb cupping his chin and eyes suddenly alight. "The destiny of one man to become the catalyst that changes the world... Even if it is not mine it is something to strive for." But the light soon dimmed as his brows dipped and a smile crept onto his face, one of acceptance. "But there is no grand evil to face. Only misdeeds and petty crimelords." He sighed. "So tiresome. Not at all like the stories of my youth."

"The mistakes those stories made, I've heard many in my youth too, is that they hold up evil as grand. That the only fights worth fighting are against evil." Fatin began, "It's never that simple, and evil is never that grand. Some of the worst people I've fought have had some of the best intentions." She continued.

"You and I," she said, pointing to Kenji and then to herself, "We may not agree with how they bring change, or order, or peace, but we can appreciate that they fought monsters and they gazed into the abyss. We can understand how easy it is to use force to make change." The woman said.

"Sometimes you just need a symbol, not guns, bombs, or blades. A beacon. And some bad people with good intentions. They're the most grand you'll ever get. Unlike mobsters, rapists, and bank robbers, men and women who want to change the world think big."

"We've, you've, got to get big."

Kenji's head tilted down, staring into his mug at the remains of his tea before he raised it to drink down to the dregs. When the cup was settled down again he shook his head. "Social change," he said, "Isn't an evil you can fight against." He smiled and for a moment it looked like he might laugh, but instead he just let his head rock side to side again, as if dismissing the notion.

"Not with force. Ah~" he sighed, "But my tea is done and I think it is time for me to go seek destiny again. Maybe if I cannot find the evil I seek here, I will find it there. And if I cannot find it there, then maybe I will grow old and wise. It is not so bad a life." He slowly rose to his feet, and tipped his upper half forward in a bow. "It was good to meet you."

"You don't fight the change, you fight the heinous actions that spark it. And, when you do you help that change become something good. Or, hopefully better than a dictatorship." The woman said, rising to her feet soon after he had done the same.

"Come find me. I may have some leads on an evil, maybe grand, for you to fight." Fatin told Kenji, mimicing his bow with one of her own. "It was my pleasure. Shalom, my friend. Be well." She said, flashing the ronin a bright smile.

He smiled back, happy to see someone mirroring his good spirit. "Yes, also be well," he answered a little awkwardly, "And good bye." He turned about and headed for the exit, careful not to let the sheath of his blade hit anything as he passed.

"You'll have to deal with it eventually." Sonia said as she carried her luggage into the spaceport. The Englishwoman donned a black suit jacket and skirt, seemingly on her way to something business related or that called for formal wear. In a black pantsuit, Stryfe followed behind her with bags of her own. "One day." Stryfe responded, "You keep saying that." Sonia said, turning to face the other woman.

"You say 'Tomorrow', you say 'Soon'. Eventually you'll have to deal with the fact that your father is almost literally on your doorstep. Drug-addled, homeless, and quite possibly the only blood relative you have left." Sonia informed Stryfe, "Get him in rehab, when we get back, talk to him."

"But, I-..." Stryfe began, "I don't want to hear it, Fatin. You don't have to suddenly forgive him, but you need to start the process. Since I've known you you've been allowing that wound to fester. It's about to you put a bandage on and let it heal." Sonia said, interrupting the Invictus leader.

Several other suited men and women approached, all of them carrying luggage to bring on the trip. "Ready?" One of them asked, "Yes, let's get going before we miss the ship." Stryfe said, stepping further into the spaceport with the group following behind her.

"Finally!" Cyrus called out as he stepped off the Invictus ship to the warm embrace of the spaceport. "Being cramped on that thing for so long wasn't fun." He continued, "Even with us?"Sonia asked as she followed behind him. Unlike the man she was actually carrying luggage. "So... are you going to help?" She asked, "Oh! Yeah!" Cyrus cried, heading back to the ship.

Sonia continued ahead, several Misranan soldiers and a man clad in a black uniform standing in her path. Stryfe was next to get out after a few of her Invictus cohorts disembarked, all of them heading towards Sonia.

From a distance it seemed like security forces were just speaking to Sonia, making sure she wasn't up to no good. "Boone!" Stryfe called out, placing her own luggage down as she waited. She turned to the ship, brown eyes waiting until they saw Evelyn.

"I need to run some things by you. Marching orders, if you will." The Invictus leader said.

"Get your bloody hands off of me!" Sonia shouted, the black cled man holding her arm. The soldiers near him had their weapons raised at the Invictus agents, the two sides screaming at each other. The Invictus were about ready to draw their own weapons as Sonia struggled with the man.

"Those marching orders may have to wait..."
