Description

Name: Tamika Blackburn
Nicknames: Tami
Age: Seventeen
Gender: Female

Appearance: Cambion are always angelically beautiful, a trait picked up from their accursed 'parents'. Tamika is no exception to this rule; her sharp, aqualine features give her youthful face a mature edge, and the prominent point of her chin and high cheekbones make her look years older than what she is. Although this does not look unnatural, it would be safe to say that she draws curious glances often. It does not help that her eyes are a startling vibrant shade of blue, so bright that she often covers them with glasses, or that her hair seems to shimmer between a pale auburn and snowy white. Lithe, young and pretty, it is easy to believe that she is the sire of an incubus.

Because Tamika is a Cambion, there are other differences to her that threaten to tell her apart, some obvious, some less so. If anyone were to look hard enough, they would realise that Tamika doesn't breath; there is no rise and fall of her chest, no breathlessness if she runs to catch a bus. If humans could hear such sounds, they would notice the absent of a racing heartbeat; of any heartbeat at all. Cambion are like walking corpses; and as they grow older the differences become ever more clear. Her eyes are becoming an ever more glowing shade of blue, and her hair grows ever more vibrant in its shades of red every year that passes. Such changes are only the beginning...

Personality

Abilities:
- Tamika has been blessed (or cursed) since birth with the ability to see through the facade that mythical creatures are able to assume when in the mortal realms. Not only this, but she can see those souls of the dead which are yet to leave this realm; this allows her to converse, and interfere, with them.
- Tamika has elemental control over Fire; not only can she manipulate and create heat or naked flames, but she can summon them via the flow of her own blood. Her powers rival many of the more powerful demons she encounters.
- Telepathy and Telekinesis; gifts (among others) that she endowed onto her 'half-sister', Morika. Her Telekinetic abilities do not rival her Elemental gifts, but she is able to lift, move and destroy objects far larger and heavier than herself. Vehicles and people are all vulnerable, though houses are a little too big.
- Tamika, though not fully a demon, does possess some of the fortitude that their race commands. While she is not particularly faster or stronger than the average human, she does wound less easily, and is able to cope with her wounds more readily.
- Given that, by all technicality Tamika is already dead, she can't technically die, not by conventional methods, anyway. In order to destroy Tamika, her head or soul must be removed from her body, or her entire body destroyed. A wound to her lungs, for instance, does little fatal damage due to the fact she does not utilize her respiratory system.
- Tamika can also move between the mortal realm and the realm of Hell at will; not that she would actually want to do that.

Ability Flaws:
- Being able to see the realm that lingers just beyond ours means there is one problem. They can see her too. While she looks human, other unnatural beings can simply tell, much like a sixth sense, that Tamika is not quite human. In the same fashion, the spirits of the dead know she see's them, and they know she might be able to help...
- Given that half her genetic code is spawned from a demon, Tamika is constantly aware of the fact that Hell is pulling her towards it, slowly working its will over her very being as she ages. Were she to ever enter hell, or give in to it... well, who knows what may become of her.

Skills:

- Tamika has begun learning to defend herself against her enemies; her current tuition covers the use of daggers and short blades, in combat techniques typical of Japan and China.
- Tamika is an accomplished member of her Diving School, and of her schools gymnastics department.

Weaknesses:
- Given that Tamika is a slight of a girl, her lacks the physical muscle to defeat most opponents face to face. She has no more strength than the average human female (albeit, a physically fit and trained one).

Personality:
To Tamika, being 'normal' is crucial to her, in a sense it is her lifeline to goodness and sanity which would otherwise be ripped away by her demon blood. But it is mostly because of her demon blood that she isn't in fact more messed up, the horrors she has witnessed have been bearable because of the dark part of her. It is that part of her where she locks away these traumatic experiences and often the desires and feelings that would otherwise convert her back to her demonic origins. She's most of the time bubbly, a little sarcastic but most importantly is unrealistically hopefully. That is her good side. When the her slightly darker side comes out to play, Tamika's words are often harsh and that sarcasm is laced with cruelty. She has a skill with words and a cunning that is able to convince the lesser minds of anything. This causes some major mood swings in her as well as a deep paranoia that any thing she does could snap the one thing inside her that is keeping her 'good'.

Equipment

Tanto(x2): Tamika carries two short-blade Tanto's. They have a heat-resistant grip, and a black steel metallic blade, with the entire weapon measure at 12". These daggers are mystically enchanted to hold a special propensity for slaying demons and other undead; wounds are accompanied by flashes of fire and cause serious infection, dealing more damage to undead or demonic enemies. Not to say that they aren't effective at killing people, though.

Wakizashi: Tamika also uses a 19" Wakizashi, also of black steel and with a heat-resistant grip, which she carries on her back using a shoulder-strap made of soft blackened leather. As with her Tanto, Tamika's Wakizashi is also enchanted in the same way, and can deliver the same damage to undead or demonic foes.

(Note: Enchantment effects: Demons, Zombies, Vampires, Possessed and other creatures of similar ilk. Both weapons are less effective against opposing creatures: Angels being an example.)

Pouches and Vials: Tamika carries pouches on her belt in which she carries two items: vials of her own extracted blood, and small explosives that generate flames.

Armour: Having a disdain for heavy armour, Tamika only wears a pair of blackened steel arm braces.

History

Biography: Currently living in a bustling city with her Father, Rubin Blackburn and her sister of the same age, Morika. They actually seem to live a normal life, but that is because of her Father being a dream Incubus rather than a blood Incubus like his kin. He has strived hard to make a normal life for his two daughters but it has been especially hard because not only must he help them cope with their demon blood, but he lost the one woman he loved and despite his demonicness wanted to raise a family with her. He is very protective of both Tamika and Morika, despite probably guarding Tamika a little more than necessary. The fact that they are not normal is widely ignored and they act as if nothing is different.

So begins...

Tamika Blackburn pondered outside the bar for a few seconds, staring at the door tentatively. Riko had said to meet her here - but then, Riko was hardly ever good for her word. She took a few seconds to collect herself, and then entered the bar. She had expected to be identified as "underage" immediately, but no-one seemed to bat an eyelid.

She also noticed that Riko wasn't around. She let out a less-than-surprised smile, and sat down at the bar. She didn't even have the money for a drink. Typical.

Tamika Blackburn took a couple of seconds to snap out of her daze and realise that the guy was talking to her. For a second, she considered just swearing at him in her usual manner, and then escaping into the toilets. It might have been her irritation at Riko, or the fact the poor guy looked like he was about to crap his pants that changed her mind.

Tamika sighed. "Hi, Jake. I'm Tami. Nice to meet ya, I guess." Enthusiasm was something hard come by when your sister was half an hour late - Tami remained cooly uncaring to the fact that meant she had been late, too.

Tamika Blackburn Tamika thought for a second that Riko had snuck up behind her with her damned telepathy. At which point she recognised that this voice was.. male? The thought panicked her a little. It wasn't Danael; that she knew instinctively. But it could be something worse... Tamika turned around in her chair, ignoring Jake for the moment - she'd apologise later. Instead, she tried to look for whoever had pervaded her thoughts.

Tamika Blackburn she turned to Jake, who had prodded her. Damn she hated to be poked. Riko had been chastised enough times for it. Instead, feeling a tiny bit guilty, she smiled briefly. "Your not going to pull me, Jake, was it? But I'll let you buy me the drink to be friendly."

She turned her attention back towards that voice. She'd located it around the same time he'd told her were to look. A tall, skinny guy was literally perched in the rafters. Of all the bars she could have come too, she had to come to one with a psychic nut-job in. He wasn't a Demon at least - she would've been able to see that. Telepathically, she replied:

"I don't know who you are, but get the hell out of my head. Alright? Freak."

Tamika Blackburn grunted, unsure if he was being deliberately irritating or whether he was just unfortunate. She flashed him barely a glance - though he hadn't seemed to notice she was distracted - "I'll have a vodka-"

Whatever mixer she might have wanted evaporated from her mind. She fixed her gaze squarely on the Telepath. She felt a pang of anxiety at his feat of.. floating? She'd seen worse though. For a second she thought she saw smoke billowing from the ground, but she pushed it away.

anyone
, I swear to God I will do something nasty.> She noted that 'something nasty' was hardly threatening at all, but she hoped the guy saw the seriousness in her eyes. Smoke had begun billowing from the ground again, coiling around the bars patrons, unbeknown to them. Damn, this was bad.

Tamika Blackburn was barely aware that this guy could see the smoke that tugged at her legs, claw-like tendrils trying to gain purchase on her soul. Instead she turned back around to face the bar, though she could see his reflection in the mirror.

At the end of this, she caught Jake grinning at her holding an... entire bottle of Vodka? Jesus Christ! She tried to look pleased for his sake, but the thought of drinking all of that made her stomach do back-flips.

"Why don't you pour two glasses..." she hoped her voice didn't betray her feelings.

Tamika Blackburn didn't even get an opportunity to ask the guys name as he strolled out of the door. To say she was interested would muffle the fact that she had also considered frying the guy on the spot. Instead, she just watched his reflection flutter from the bar as though the entire exchange had been nothing out of the ordinary.

At this point she caught sight of Jake's antics. Deliberately irritating, it had to be that. She watched him slam his third shot down before sliding a delicate hand over his drink.

"Maybe you should calm down a little? If you're going to keep my company 'till my sister gets here, you should at least be presentable..." She took a gulp of her own drink, and, delightfully, managed to look like she had genuinely enjoyed it.

Tamika Blackburn resisted the urge to groan aloud. She was beginning to wonder if Danael had sent this guy deliberately to bug the shit out of her; it wouldn't be his first stunt like that. She slid her hand away from his drink, making sure to avoid any form of skin-to-skin contact - at this rate, he'd probably think that meant she was up for it.

"Yeah. Right - hoorah and all that," she replied, voice a little bit more caustic than it needed to be. "What are you doing here on your own, then?" God, was she really making conversation with this guy?

Tamika Blackburn stayed silent for a few very long moments. In the space of a few sentences the guy had confessed that his family killed people, along with the fact that he did. Or had. In her mind, the difference was minimal. When she replied, she tried to act like she hadn't noticed.

"Right.. well, okay." She couldn't have sounded more cautious. "So, this family... they aren't going to, you know, come looking for you in here, are they?"

Tamika Blackburn felt a little guilty for asking; she had known that the question might drag up the guys demons, and she had successfully managed to upset him. Go figure, girl - you are a twisted little orphan, after all. Her tirade against her own mind was short-lived however, when Jake moved the topic on to her sisters appearance. She scowled ever so slightly.

"What does it matter what she looks like?"

Tamika Blackburn remained suspicious, but decided she should give the guy a break. He hadn't actually one any harm this far, after all. She gave a short sigh, finished the remainder of her glass and then turned a little towards Jake.

Tamika Blackburn tried to ignore the fact he wad flirting with her. Again. Instead she gave him a polite smile, and muttered a quiet 'Thanks' to him. She turned around and did a quick scan of the bar: Riko was still as elusive as ever. She turned back to Jake.

"I've no idea what that means, but if you keep trying to flirt with me, I [i]will[/u] kick your ass." That said, she lightened her tone. "How old is your brother, then?"

Tamika Blackburn was aware that the urge to pop the guy in his mouth had surfaced, and not for the first time since she had strolled into the bar. She hadn't thought the idea possible, but she might get more irritated by his brother - anyone young teenager with a pennant for hanging onto girls was apt to piss her off eternally. She didn't smile this time.

"Right - I guess I can live with that, then. How old are you, Jake?" As of yet, she hadn't managed to place his age. It was starting to bug her.

Tamika Blackburn was actually a little surprised. She hadn't thought he would be that much older than her; had even mentally placed him as her own age. He had a youthfulness in his actions that made her think that he could easily have been the younger brother in the family. As usual, she had assumed wrong.

"Nineteen, huh?" At his guess at her age, she scoffed. After a as-subtle-as-possible check to make sure none of the staff were lingering near them, she lowered her voice and replied. "I'm seventeen. It's nice to know I look old, though." Clearly, she hadn't thought it a compliment.

Tamika Blackburn let out a short snort of laughter. While laughing at other peoples expense was usually something she didn't condone, Jake was proving to be the exception that proved the rule. That was her excuse, anyway. Hastily, she closed her mouth to stop her laughing, all to aware that a few stray tears glistened in the corner of her eyes.

"I'm sorry - really. I shouldn't laugh at you," which promptly set her off again. "It's rude. Don't worry - I'm not really offended." She shook her head, squashing her laughter in the process. "You come here much then?" She sure hoped he didn't think that meant she was planning a second encounter, however amused she was.

Tamika Blackburn thought for a split-second that the guy might now she was a telepath. Before panic could dig its icy maws into her, she swatted the idea away. He was just an average guy (forgetting his confessions of murderous violence, of course) sitting in a bar. She gave a tiny smile, careful not to get his hopes up.

"I promise not too, alright?" She flashed that smile again. "Keeping that air of mystery, huh? Good tactic."

Tamika Blackburn nodded in agreement. As a precautionary measure, she slid the bottle of vodka away from Jake - she had no intention of drinking it herself, let alone letting him drink any more of it. The guy clearly didn't drink a lot, despite hanging out in bars.

"Maybe you should get a cab ho- well, to a friends, at least?"

Tamika Blackburn thought that that explained a hell of a lot. She was glad she'd removed the bottle from where Jake might get at it. She slid her own glass along to sit next to it, the remainder of vodka glinting maliciously in the bars low-lights. How people drank that without a mixer, she'd never understand.

"That's alright. Happens to the best of us, I guess." Not exactly true, but hopefully comforting regardless of validity. "How long you planning to hold out here, then?"
