Born a Cambion, with no knowledge of her true origins, Tamika does her best to blend into normality while resisting the demonic impulses lurking within her genetic code.

Description

Name: Tamika Blackburn
Nicknames: Tami
Age: Seventeen
Gender: Female

Appearance: Cambion are always angelically beautiful, a trait picked up from their accursed 'parents'. Tamika is no exception to this rule; her sharp, aqualine features give her youthful face a mature edge, and the prominent point of her chin and high cheekbones make her look years older than what she is. Although this does not look unnatural, it would be safe to say that she draws curious glances often. It does not help that her eyes are a startling vibrant shade of blue, so bright that she often covers them with glasses, or that her hair seems to shimmer between a pale auburn and snowy white. Lithe, young and pretty, it is easy to believe that she is the sire of an incubus.

Because Tamika is a Cambion, there are other differences to her that threaten to tell her apart, some obvious, some less so. If anyone were to look hard enough, they would realise that Tamika doesn't breath; there is no rise and fall of her chest, no breathlessness if she runs to catch a bus. If humans could hear such sounds, they would notice the absent of a racing heartbeat; of any heartbeat at all. Cambion are like walking corpses; and as they grow older the differences become ever more clear. Her eyes are becoming an ever more glowing shade of blue, and her hair grows ever more vibrant in its shades of red every year that passes. Such changes are only the beginning...

Personality

Abilities:
- Tamika has been blessed (or cursed) since birth with the ability to see through the facade that mythical creatures are able to assume when in the mortal realms. Not only this, but she can see those souls of the dead which are yet to leave this realm; this allows her to converse, and interfere, with them.
- Tamika has elemental control over Fire; not only can she manipulate and create heat or naked flames, but she can summon them via the flow of her own blood. Her powers rival many of the more powerful demons she encounters.
- Telepathy and Telekinesis; gifts (among others) that she endowed onto her 'half-sister', Morika. Her Telekinetic abilities do not rival her Elemental gifts, but she is able to lift, move and destroy objects far larger and heavier than herself. Vehicles and people are all vulnerable, though houses are a little too big.
- Tamika, though not fully a demon, does possess some of the fortitude that their race commands. While she is not particularly faster or stronger than the average human, she does wound less easily, and is able to cope with her wounds more readily.
- Given that, by all technicality Tamika is already dead, she can't technically die, not by conventional methods, anyway. In order to destroy Tamika, her head or soul must be removed from her body, or her entire body destroyed. A wound to her lungs, for instance, does little fatal damage due to the fact she does not utilize her respiratory system.
- Tamika can also move between the mortal realm and the realm of Hell at will; not that she would actually want to do that.

Ability Flaws:
- Being able to see the realm that lingers just beyond ours means there is one problem. They can see her too. While she looks human, other unnatural beings can simply tell, much like a sixth sense, that Tamika is not quite human. In the same fashion, the spirits of the dead know she see's them, and they know she might be able to help...
- Given that half her genetic code is spawned from a demon, Tamika is constantly aware of the fact that Hell is pulling her towards it, slowly working its will over her very being as she ages. Were she to ever enter hell, or give in to it... well, who knows what may become of her.

Skills:

- Tamika has begun learning to defend herself against her enemies; her current tuition covers the use of daggers and short blades, in combat techniques typical of Japan and China.
- Tamika is an accomplished member of her Diving School, and of her schools gymnastics department.

Weaknesses:
- Given that Tamika is a slight of a girl, her lacks the physical muscle to defeat most opponents face to face. She has no more strength than the average human female (albeit, a physically fit and trained one).

Personality:
To Tamika, being 'normal' is crucial to her, in a sense it is her lifeline to goodness and sanity which would otherwise be ripped away by her demon blood. But it is mostly because of her demon blood that she isn't in fact more messed up, the horrors she has witnessed have been bearable because of the dark part of her. It is that part of her where she locks away these traumatic experiences and often the desires and feelings that would otherwise convert her back to her demonic origins. She's most of the time bubbly, a little sarcastic but most importantly is unrealistically hopefully. That is her good side. When the her slightly darker side comes out to play, Tamika's words are often harsh and that sarcasm is laced with cruelty. She has a skill with words and a cunning that is able to convince the lesser minds of anything. This causes some major mood swings in her as well as a deep paranoia that any thing she does could snap the one thing inside her that is keeping her 'good'.

Equipment

Tanto(x2): Tamika carries two short-blade Tanto's. They have a heat-resistant grip, and a black steel metallic blade, with the entire weapon measure at 12". These daggers are mystically enchanted to hold a special propensity for slaying demons and other undead; wounds are accompanied by flashes of fire and cause serious infection, dealing more damage to undead or demonic enemies. Not to say that they aren't effective at killing people, though.

Wakizashi: Tamika also uses a 19" Wakizashi, also of black steel and with a heat-resistant grip, which she carries on her back using a shoulder-strap made of soft blackened leather. As with her Tanto, Tamika's Wakizashi is also enchanted in the same way, and can deliver the same damage to undead or demonic foes.

(Note: Enchantment effects: Demons, Zombies, Vampires, Possessed and other creatures of similar ilk. Both weapons are less effective against opposing creatures: Angels being an example.)

Pouches and Vials: Tamika carries pouches on her belt in which she carries two items: vials of her own extracted blood, and small explosives that generate flames.

Armour: Having a disdain for heavy armour, Tamika only wears a pair of blackened steel arm braces.

History

Biography: Currently living in a bustling city with her Father, Rubin Blackburn and her sister of the same age, Morika. They actually seem to live a normal life, but that is because of her Father being a dream Incubus rather than a blood Incubus like his kin. He has strived hard to make a normal life for his two daughters but it has been especially hard because not only must he help them cope with their demon blood, but he lost the one woman he loved and despite his demonicness wanted to raise a family with her. He is very protective of both Tamika and Morika, despite probably guarding Tamika a little more than necessary. The fact that they are not normal is widely ignored and they act as if nothing is different.

So begins...

Tamika Blackburn tried desperately hard to remain stoic throughout his little speech, but unfortunately, as soon as he poked her in the stomach her cool facade of indifference was shattered. Without a moments hesitation (unfortunately, she tends to be something of a hot-head) she stood up - albeit, using the stools foot-bar to reach a suitable height - and attempted to back-hand Jake.

Tamika Blackburn was pretty quick to chill most of the time, and luckily for Jake today wasn't an exception. Yet. She stood still for a second, before pulling her wrist loose of his grip and sitting back on the stool.

"Don't talk to me like you know me, Jake. Alright? And don't touch me, either."

She promptly finished her vodka. She was going to kill Riko.

Tamika Blackburn felt as though she might have just stepped into some sort of cliche drama. She resisted the urge to take a quick look around for cameras, and see if an over-zealous director was scowling at his cast.

"I think you've kept my company long enough, Jake." She stood up and turned towards him, keeping her face fairly blank. "I really should call and see where my sister has gotten too anyway."

With that, she turned around and made a bee-line for a quieter area of the bar...

Tamika Blackburn closed the lid on her phone and grunted. After a cautious glance over towards Jake, she sighed and headed for the door. She wasn't in the mood for it today; especially since Riko had gone to the wrong damned bar. It had been her idea, too! With a walk that could only be described as continuous stomping, Tamika made her war out of the bar.

Tamika Blackburn stumbled back a little as she bumped into the guy. She was caught somewhere between embarrassment and annoyance - two emotions she had felt a lot in this bar. She gave him a once-over, and then did a double-take. She was sure that...

"Do I know you?"

Tamika Blackburn thought that he did. It wasn't until he morphed - an event which unsettled her to no end - into his other.. form, that she realised why she recognised him. It was the telepath from earlier on. She looked at him suspiciously for a moment, but decided he probably hadn't been waiting outside for two hours just too set up a 'chance' encounter.

Unfortunatly, Tamika was still in a bad mood.

Tamika Blackburn sighed. She wished that she didn't get so much attention when she went out - she guessed that was the price to pay for what she was, though. What harm could telling the guy her name do, though?

"My name is Tamika." A little blunt, but she figured he should be grateful for the information. She was obviously in a pretty bad mood. "There's no need to walk me; Riko wouldn't take too kindly to it anyway. Thanks, though. What's your name, then?"

Tamika Blackburn felt that 'Ikiros' would have sufficed, but decided not to make a comment on it. It was no use getting into another argument over something pointless. Instead, she did her best to force a smile on her face.

"Yeah, you too." She ignored the fact he had spoken telepathically, momentarily forgetting that it would appear she had just started talking to herself. "I'm sure - It's not far."

Tamika Blackburn gave him a semi-genuine smile.

"Thanks."

With that, she exited the bar. Riko was going to kill her - she was already late!

Tamika Blackburn snapped the phone shut as she entered Gambits, and stuffed it into her pocket with a degree of agitation. She wasn't really sure why she had picked this bar, of all places, to pass the time in. It was too late now, and so she found herself sitting at the furthest edge of the bar she could manage, sipping on a glass of chilled water and wishing the hand on the mounted clock would get a move on.

Tamika Blackburn wasn't sure what had changed in the room, but she found herself scanning the bar with lines furrowing her brown regardless. It took her at least two minutes to realise that the music had stopped; she frowned. The little melody had been pretty soothing, and now all that remained as the constant buzz of indistinguishable chatter and the clinking of glasses. She was hellihsly bored already, and she hadn't been here for more than four minutes. It was going to be a long day.

Tamika Blackburn remained largely unaware that Ikiros was sitting behind her. She had that vague, tingling sensation you get when you feel someones watching you, but she couldn't muster the enthusiasm to turn around and actually investigate if her hunch was right. Instead, he rested her chin in the crook of her palm and stared listlessly at the minute-hand of the clock. She really should have gone to another bar - at least there she might have bumped into someone she knew.

Tamika Blackburn didn't really register the music that had begun swimming in her head at first. Not, at least, until the girl with the guitar began strumming an upbeat tune again. It was then that she realised that, somehow, two different melodies were ringing out around her. She turned around, but was unable to make out a Juke Box. She wondered vaguely if she was starting to go crazy; it would be a fitting end to her day.

Tamika Blackburn walked in with her hair damp from the rain, loose strands plastered to her face where it had been swept in the wind. It would be an understatement to say she wasn't pleased. Too make things worse, she'd managed to loose her mobile somewhere between picking it up and getting off the bus. Already in a fairly foul mood, Tamika was sure that Gambit's would prove to be just as enjoyable an event to add to her list of perfect happenings that day. With a whispered grumble, she headed to the bar and sat down, waiting for the attention of the nearest bartender.

Tamika Blackburn was a little surprised at the speed with which the Daemon came over; it resembled a rocket propelling itself towards its intended target. An unnerving thought considering that Tamika's sole prospect in life was to avoid being noticed by demons. Something told her not to fear this one, though; the lack of disguise or aggression didn't really scream 'Minion on Hell' too her. Still - the bartender had the look, and Tamika remained diligent.

She offered a wry smile at the girls joke. "If you have a spare, it would be nice." She gave a forced laugh, though whether it was her earlier thoughts or the fact she was soaked through that drained her humour was unclear. "I'll have a Vodka and Lemondade, please."

Tamika Blackburn caught the towel without a problem, and spent the interlude between doing so and receiving her drink giving her head a furious, and much-needed rub down. She finished by running her hands through it, trying to prevent the inevitable frizz that would soon have her hair looking like a dogs behind. She folded the towel and rest it on the bar, at which point the daemon returned with her drink.

"Thanks."

It was more mumble than speech, but she figured that the daemon was too distracted to even realise she had spoken at all. Tamika put her money on the counter, and then spun around in the chair, back resting uncomfortably against the wood, to see who else was in the bar. As usual, there was not a single soul that she recognised. Forlorn, she lifted the glass to her mouth and took a sip gingerly. What on earth had compelled her to come here alone?

Tamika Blackburn shut the phones clasp and tossed it on the bar with a huff, not caring for the damage the thin device might obtain. She rested her chin on her palm and stared thoughtfully into her glass. She wasn't sure why she had ordered it, she sure didn't have any intention of drinking the stuff, and, quite frankly, she didn't even want to be here really.

As usual, though. Rika had managed to be even later than her, and showed no signs of attending her own outing any time soon. Not for the first time that week, Tamika cursed her sister. Shit, she would tear that girl a new hole when she got her hands on her.

For now, she sat and waited, all to aware of how she was one of the few loners lingering in Gambit's. Typical.

Tamika Blackburn stepped out of the toilet and noticed that the bar was now considerably busier. She'd been in there less than five minutes, and yet the place seemed to have suddenly exploded with activity. Somehow though, everyone had managed to miss her stool during the rush towards the bar, and Tamika hurried over and slid onto the stool before anyone could nab it from under her nose.

Her drink still sat on the side, but she'd decided almost as soon as she had ordered it that she didn't want the stuff. She slid it away from her, in the same process dumping the memory of the drink out of her mind. Instead, she focused in on the clock. Late. As Always.

Shit, it made her blood boil. She must look like such a looser.

Tamika Blackburn had turned towards analyzing, albeit cynically, the people in the bar in order to help pass the time. It amazed her how many people appeared to be at least slightly pissed off at whoever they were wive; perhaps it was something to do with the fact that Gambit's was always full of freaks and loners. Mentally, she excluded herself from that list without any substance as to why she was any different. Instead, she cast a disparaging glance up and down the prim woman to her side. She wondered if the look of quiet disgust on her face was visible. There was no logic behind it, but anyone with Prada shoes rated pretty damn lowly in her books. Pretentious tart.

Before her blood pressure could raise any higher, she turned away from the woman and back to the bar. Still, she noted, her phone lay silent on the bar. Where the hell was Rika? He gaze fell on the guy she'd seen in here last time. She couldn't remember his name, but the dude seriously freaked her out. Promptly, she turned away from anyones eye contact and tried to keep to herself.

Tamika Blackburn was watching the guy play guitar with a vague semblance of interest. It wasn't that she particularly liked the song, or his insistent eyebrow-raising for that matter, but music had always helped calm her down. She guessed that it filled her head with something than her own dramatically escalating thoughts. Whatever the reason, she sat at the bar unusually demurely, and watched him strum along to the song.
