Description

Terran Space Navy

Image

With a steady flow of trade established with the Jackalite Trade Confederation, the United Coalition of Organized Nations, the Democration Coalition, the Erutian Empire and the Aschen Confederation of Planets, as well as having received generous funding from a myriad of wealthy Terran donors and philanthropists, the Terran National Government set out to create a navy for itself, seeking to better defend the planet and her inter-solar borders from the imminent threats beyond. Military leaders approached Doctor Cleo Eriaji and his NOVA team about designing Terran battleships with lethal technology as original and unique as the planet they would defend. Before long, the Terran military had released the first line of ships that would aspire to become the mighty fleet protecting Terran freedom everywhere.

With shipyards scattered all over Terra and in various other locations in the Sol System, the TNG feeds a constant supply of resources to its various manufacturers to build the Terran fleet as effectively as possible. Three defensive docking stations are currently in the works for building: one, to encompass a large portion of Terra's moon, another to orbit mars, the last to take residency in Saturn's various rings. For the time being, the Terran fleet docks itself in various stable location throughout the Sol System, always maintaining a watchful garrison over Terra as whole.

Total Trireme Battleship Count: 313

Total Seraphim Carrier Count:
Type 2C: 209
Type 1C: 4

Seraphim 3C and Paladin fighters are outfitted in each carrier and Trireme.

TRIREME GUNSHIP

Image
The staple battleship of the Terran Space Navy, the Trireme Gunship is the perfect blend of agile speed and obliterating firepower

Length: 800 M
Crew: 6,000 (Officers, Engineers, Crewmen and Marines)

Build: Titanium Frame, Tungsten-Steel Hull

Shields: FIM-54x Energy-Particle Shield, 5A Caliber Capacitor Shield, PSIlock Inhibitor Shields, ManaTech C191 Wards

Arsenal: 200 Gauss Turrets scattered about the ship's exterior
100 Intracluster Medium Plasma Cannons
4 Ion-Stabilizing Electromagnetic Railguns
3 Heavy-Artillery DECs (Directed Energy Cannons)
1 Energy-Mass Singularity Compressor

The Trireme's greatest weapon is no cannon or gun. Through the use of energy-magnetosphere shielding and ion-stabilization technology, the Trireme can effectively ram into enemy battleship, inflicting maximum damage. The tip of the Trireme (called the pike) is energized through a series of concentrated energy-particle Shields, keeping the Trireme and its crew protected from the force of the collision; whereas the ion stabilizers work to reduce enemy shields when close enough. Upon impact, massive shock waves of pummeling 'seismic' waves are continuously emitted from a force generator at the tip of the pike, continuously beating against the hull of the enemy ship, and, when broken, at its interior. The Trireme is capable of cutting clean-through enemy battleships, leaving gaping holes in whatever it smashes into.

SERAPHIM CARRIER

Image
Known for its speed and unique boarding technologies, the Seraphim Carrier is an important part of Terran Naval transportation.

Length: Class 3C - 50 M / Class 2C - 900 M / Class 3C - 1500 M

Crew: Class 3C - Carries up to 100 Troopers / Class 2C - Carries up to 50,000 Troopers / Class 3C Carries up to 200,000 Troopers

Build: Neo-Steel Frame, Steel-Carbon Hull

Shields: FIM-54x Energy-Particle Shield, 130xYW Deflector Shield

Arsenal: Class 3C - 15 Gauss Turrets, Aegis Wormhole Frame-Defender, Ion-Impervium Power Drill / Class 2C - 80 Gauss Turrets, 10 Defender-Type Plasma Cannons, Ion-Impervium Power Drill / Class 1C - 300 Gauss Turrets, 30 Defender-Type Plasma Cannons, 2 Heavy-Artillery DEC, Ion-Impervium Power Drill

The Seraphim Carrier utilized aerospace technologies and gravity-flux propellants to move at unreal speeds and maneuver with incredible agility. Aside from acting as a transport, the Seraphim can also magnetize itself to an enemy hull if close enough and drill into the ship using its ion shielded fractional-point impervium drill, allowing for vacuum-sealed troops to quickly launch an assault into the interior of the ship. Seraphim Classes 2C and 3C are equipped with extensive medical centers far more generous then those of its Trireme counterparts, and Class 3C maintains extensive dormitory quarters, many of them designed for the luxury and comfort of higher-ranking occupants.

PALADIN II FIGHTERS

Image
The nimble starfighters of the Terran Navy, Paladin II Fighters are loaded up by the hundreds and thousands into Triremes and Seraphim alike, ready to be deployed at any moment.

Length: 10 M

Crew: 1 Terran Pilot

Build: Titanium-alloy hull

Shields: 20xYW Deflector Shields

Arsenal: Twin Rapid Fire Super-Heated Gauss Cannons
15 'Chaser' Targeting Plasma Missiles
5 Super-Charged Proton Bombs

Like the Seraphim Carrier, the Paladin II utilized aerospace technologies and gravity-flux propellants to accelerate through space at extremely high velocities. Its lower gravity resistance makes it extremely agile and allows it to maneuver with considerable dexterity in all environments. With a built-in hyperdrive generator, the Paladin II can enter slip-space on its own, negating the need to dock at a carrier for intergalactic travel. The Paladin II can function in atmospheric conditions as well as it can vacuum conditions.

"Long Night of Solace," the captain continued from on board the Trireme, a flare of irritation evident in his voice, "Blackjack's presence in Gambit's does not justify your sudden takeover of Terran soil. TNG officials recieved no documentation or notification of your actio-... wait, did we get documentation on this shit?" The captain turned to a nearby comm-specialist.

"No sir!"

"Right! No notification! No documentation! Scouter-readings show a plethora of Terran civilians inside that establishment. You'd better hope there's not a hair missing from ANY of their heads, Commander."

The Terran Trireme 'Diomedes' followed not far behind the Reverence, careful to stay out of the way of the force-blast from the Reverence's thrusters.

"Now wait-just-a-fuckin'-second!" the captain bellowed to the Aschen Commander, "you think you're just walking out of this? Slip-spacing back to Langara without a care in the world, huh?" The captain turned to a nearby tech-specialist. "Scouter-reports on post-battle life signatures?"

"Confirmed Terran casualties," the crew member reported with a gulp, "at least four."

"I want Seraphim down there NOW and a FULL report on the cause-of-death for ALL of them. If there's so much as an INKLING of disruptor-residue in their bodies I'll have that Reverence for scrap metal!" The captain turned his attention back to the hail, though his words to his crew-mates had been perfectly audible to the Aschen.

"You'd better sit tight, Commander," the captain growled, "you're under the Xenia, after all, and thereby subjugate to Parliamentary decision. You can't just blast off at your own free-will."

"You are in TERRAN space, Commander!" the captain growled again, "you are FORBIDDEN to leave unless given grant by Parliament. You will remain in Terran boundaries until you've had proper clearance for departure. I would like to remind YOU that breaking the Xenia Compromise is an act of war in itself."

"Theta!" the captain's eyes turned to the most recent hail, "thank God Council's on this. I know that ring is half-built, but if you've got a tractor-beam on that thing, it'd be fuckin' wonderful."

Meanwhile, two more Terran Triremes pulled into view ahead of the Reverence.

"'Nero's Fiddle' and 'Joy Ride' standing by," another captain radioed in from one of the triremes, "we've got FIMs primed and Capacitor shields at maximum."

"Start a blockade," the captain of 'Diomedes' demanded, "we can't let the Aschen waltz out of here." The situation indeed looked grim. Even if the Terrans managed to keep the Aschen Reverence at bay, it could be cause for war. War with a nation they most certainly didn't want to go to war with. And yet what were they to do? Law must be upheld. The Aschen couldn't just leave like they wanted to, something had to be done...

And then the Scatterans came in a pillar of light.

The faces of the crewmen on board 'Diomedes' became suddenly relieved. "Thank God for UCON!" the captain cheered. With another Multiverse power thrown into the lot, perhaps the Confederation would be more inclined to listen.

Captain Ashton Macduff was just pouring himself a particularly tall glass of scotch when Ranida radioed into the 'Diomedes'. Belkans...? That was impossible, wasn't it? The Belkans were a UCON problem... an enemy so distant and unmentioned in Terran life that they were as legendary as the boogey-man. Never in a million years did Captain Macduff anticipate seeing Belkan ships on his monitoring screen.

"It is my professional suggestion to disengage this blockade and prepare for combat."

Point taken.

"Battle stations, EVERYONE!" Macduff patched into the comm-link for every Terran Trireme and Seraphim in orbit, "unidentified warships, seven hundred million miles and closing fast off sector K6. I want every Trireme pulled into stand-by. I want our FIM's at full 54, our Capacitors operating at maximum. Have the Fiddle and Ride break blockade and prepare Railguns and DECs seperately. Bradley, how soon can 'Xerxes' Bane' pull into our sector?"

"ETA two minutes."

"Have that pike at full magnetosphere and ready for ramming. I want the full output of that fusion reactor put towards its ion stabilizers. Have the 'Redemption' start charging its EMS Compressor."

"Right away sir."

The admiral groped at his glass, taking several gulps of the mirky liquor before patching back into the Aschen hail. "Listen Commander, in case you didn't notice, the situation has just escalated far beyond a petty quarrel between our worlds. Whoever this new threat it, it gives indications of hostile intentions. The firepower of your Reverence could be of great help to us if things come to violence." Where the hell were those Council ships?

Captain Ashton Macduff walked uncertainly through the the halls of FOB Darkhammer, straightening the blue tie hung flaccidly around his neck and checking his semi-wrinkled suit for a brief moment. God, how he hated these monkey-suits. And what the hell was the point of a goddamn tie, anyway? Just another way for some jackass to strangle you when your back was turned-...

The captain of the Trireme 'Diomedes' quickly collected his thoughts as he approached the Command Hub and entered quietly, looking about himself at the busy control-room. Was this the correct place? Perhaps he had made a wrong turn...

"Thank you, General Counselor," the captain nodded, extending his hand towards Medeen, "I'm Captain Ashton Macduff of the 'Diomedes'. I'm sorry for requesting a debriefing on such short notice. Command Center doesn't seem to inform its officers about anything these days." The captain smiled apologetically. "...I needed to get some answers."

"To be frank, General Counselor," Macduff exhaled heavily, his eyes fixated wearily on the glowing holo-screen before him, "...we need the Scatterans to stay where they are. Here. On Terra." Scratching at his close-cut beard, Macduff briefly glanced down at his polished shoes in poorly-hidden disgust before returning back up to Medeen.

"I don't know much about the Belkans, General Counselor," Macduff continued, "...but I know you've been at war with them for a while. A war that you yourself consider UCON to be losing. I'm afraid to think what sort of enemy we're up against if YOUR nation has difficulty combating them. Terra is one planet, General Counselor. We've only just begun building our navy." He chuckled to himself.

"...we have twenty-five ships..."

Terran Space Navy turned to face Yukiyama with a nod, a quiet smile flitting across his bearded jaw. "...I'm sure the Terran National Government appreciates the support of the Taiyou Empire," Macduff consented, "and I'm certain they'll grant special-priviledges over the Xenia to allow such a mass of ships into our system." Perhaps not the full ten-thousand, but certainly a good portion. He turned back to Medeen, listening intently to the Major Counselor's grim prediction of the outcome of events.

"...you ought to know then, General Counselor," Macduff began quietly, "...that the Belkans won't find a single citizen on this planet who won't fight them tooth-and-nail for the sake of their soveriengty. If it's slavery or annihilation... we'll play the Melian card every time. Count on it."

Terran Space Navy made a face at the brutal images before him, not necessarily disgusted at the combat, but simply unimpressed. The captain turned back to Yukiyama briefly. "...ma'am, Terra will take just about any help it can get right about now. If his Imperial Majesty hates Terra's guts, I just hope he hates the Belkans more. We need his ships."

"And for that matter, General Counselor," Macduff turned over to Medeen, "...can we even be sure the Belkans WILL attack? I mean, Terra never outright fired on their ships or anything of the sort. We've spilled no Belkan blood. Is diplomacy not an option? Or these people beyond reasoning with?"

Captain Ashton Macduff rolled his eyes at Austin's absurd entrance. "...glad to see you're keeping up Scatteran-Terran relations, agent..." the captain growled sarcastically, "now if the Bureau is done sticking its nose into other people's business, we have some REAL business to attend to." The captain turned back to Medeen quickly.

"General Counselor, whatever negotiations transcend between the Terrans and the Belkans, we will NOT surrender our UCON garrison to their hand," Macduff stated firmly, "...we have the Taiyou half-backing us now, no? The Aschen are a possibility. Surely there's an inkling of a chance the Belkans will just turn-tail and forget about this little sector of the galaxy, no?"

Macduff turned to face Shinzo as Had-Medeen talked with another Scatteran, offering a slight bow at the waist to the Taiyou noble. "Honorable Shogun, the Terran Navy is honored to fight by your side," he nodded, "whatever help you can lend to us is greatly appreciated."

Captain Macduff turned quickly as Savage talked with Had-Medeen, offering the Admiral a quick salute. "Admiral Savage, I'm afraid I'm not familiar with you. I am Captain Ashton Macduff with the Terran Navy.

"Director," Captain Macduff nodded to Drulovic before turning back to Savage, raising a fist in the air at the Admiral's sudden enthusiasm. "THAT'S what I like to hear, Scatterans," Macduff grinned widely, "...I mean look at us! Taiyou... UCON... Aschen... not to mention DC forces and the Erutians! Terra has allies! At the very least we can make them stop for a few seconds and consider just how much of a fight we'll put up against them!"

Unfortunately for the Brood below, the Terran Space Navy had just arrived on scene, answering to the distress signal of the police force. Looming overhead, a Trireme Gunship entered Wing City space, the crew aboard the massive ship quickly assessing the information.

"Attention police units, this is Captain Aaron Vrail with the Trireme 'Nero's Fiddle'," the strong voice of the captain rang through the police radios as he examined the skirmish from massive glowing screens in the command bridge. "Stand away from the intended targets."

After a few moments preparation, and after ensuring there were no allies that would get caugt up in the cross-fire, the Trireme's unloaded on the Brood and its host, beams of glowing white plasma slamming into the monsters and vaporizing them where they stood.

"Copy that Commander," Captain Kaitlyn Emments radioed to the 8332 from the bridge of the Redemption. "We've made multiple attempts at contacting the CRF, but we've received no responses." She perked a brow as Raphael suddenly made his dramatic entrance. "Glad to have you with us, Admiral. I trust your Reverence is well equipped for a medical emergency?" That HAD, after all, been the main reason the TNG had requested Aschen presence for the mission. The Confederacy had been spear-heading medicine for as long as the Terrans had known them. "As I was telling Commander Nikoloz, we're largely in the dark about what's going on. I'm sure you've all seen the distress signal they sent us by now. I'll go ahead and transmit it to each of you anyway." The woman sighed, reaching for a nearby holo-pad as she reviewed the message for the nth time.

"10-15 10-23 10-30

MEDICAL EMERGENCY

REQUESTING IMMEDIATE ASSETMENT AND EVACUATION

HURRY."

Emments scowled as she went over it again. What the hell was this supposed to be? The coding hardly made any sense as it was. 10-15: come to... 10-23, disturbance... 10-30, requesting assistance... it was all so vague. No details. No explanation. No rhyme or reason to any of it. But of the TNG's second largest research facility was making a call for help, then the Terran Navy was NOT going to ignore it.

"Tell me, gentlemen," Emments addressed the two once more, "how do you think we should move once we're on Charon? I'd say we should mobilize most of our crews. The CRF is a massive complex, and we'll need every working hand we can get." The woman tapped into one of the bridge screens, reviewing a map of the Charon Research Facility. "We'll need medical and engineering teams for the project, and some logistics personel for evacuations. Over all, I'd say we'll be spending an awful lot of time away from our ships."

"Agent McNamara, do you copy?"

Ellie's comm systems would squawk into life, relaying the familiar voice of Iyoshi Huang. "Agent McNamara, you're being assigned with a security task force once we arrive on Charon. You'll be working with Scatteran and Aschen military personnel to assess any threats that may or may not exist in the CRF. Try and keep the boys out of trouble."

"Understood, gentlemen," Emments nodded as routine pre-landing scans were conducted. "Commander, let me know what your drones pick up on that surface swipe. Also, Admiral McGregor, I'm not sure how effective a bioscan would be. The CRF is surrounded by a sea of plasmic energy and a host of chaotic substances. It dwarfs other energy signature, as well as most EM waves and radio transmissions. In fact, off-world communication is nearly impossible on Charon. There are a few designated comms stations deep within the facility, but that's it. When we land, we'll have only each other to talk to until we reach a comm station."

Emments reached for a glass of water on a nearby table. "Charon is, in a nutshell, our dumpster planet. All of the waste our fusion reactors create end up here. Scientists saw an opportunity to use the natural energy released by the deteriorated plasma for research purposes." Emments' hand swiped over the screen, sending a photograph of a thin, spectacled man to each of the ship masters. "It was doctor Dmitriv Arokov who pleaded for the construction of the CRF, and it is Arakov who leads the research and development there now. When we arrive, he's the man we need to speak to."

Upon entering Charon, the Scatteran drone would easily be able to find the CFR. The complex was visible from space. A brief surface-scan would show nothing visibly wrong with the facility on the outside, though no Charon personnel were there either. Below the facility, a swirling sea of plasma bubbled.

Of course, the drone would need to exit the atmosphere before it relayed any of the information back to the Scatterans. Any communications between the home ship and it's drone would be severed the moment it crossed into the planetary boundaries.

"Fifty minutes until arrival," Huang spoke to Ellie, "...and whatever business the TIB has with this facility, it's none of mine. Remember agent, you're not technically under my command. "Captain, we're expecting arrival within the next half hour." An attendant nodded to Kaitlyn.

"Have our teams mobilized," she nodded, "I want fiveĀ transports available for quick on-world off-world evacs." She radioed back into the comms relay. "The CRF has extensive environmental regulators, gentlemen... but it wouldn't hurt to take a few extra precautions." Her fingers flitted across her holo-pad. "Commander, Admiral... would you two mind leading the entrance squad? I was just going over the personnel list, and we've got quite a few rookies on this opening team. Some skill and experience wouldn't hurt. Besides, you'll be the first ones to reach Arakov. Figure out what this mess is about in the first place..."
