All the man could do was nod. He'd been on just about any ship anywhere. Being a deckhand for a group of pirates, or being a hired merc for some of the more, wealthy, lords and nobles. His weapon expertise was rivaled by almost none. The almost being his little sister. As for firing a weapon... People have died from crossbows, bows, blackpowder guns, and cannons, all held by himself.

So once again he nodded, noting he was in fact, fit for this.

Thad himself came forward, put a dagger in the table, and bent down, to put his own name down on the paper. He knew things like this, and they meant more than just ONE outgoing venture, but multiple. It was good. Very good. His name signed, he took his dagger from the table and put it with his many others around his belt. He stood up to his full 7' 3" hight and backed off. This part was done.

Thad huffed out a breath. This Jess was... Odd. Small, scanty, and jumpy and a little too overexcited for her own good. It didn't bother him none. It would be her own death, not his. But, she was needed if this loot was to be found. Nodding to himself he noted in his head "Protect the little'un." His weapons and armor clinked lightly with each step, his arms now crossed in front of his barrel of a chest.

Nothing to do but walk and wait for the... Excitement, to begin.

Thad stretched his shoulders. Walking long distances in the stuff he was wearing was never really all that comfortable. But what's more important, comfort, or protection? He just kept on going, glancing at things here and there, but always alert, waiting for something, anything really. And then Jess took off. Overexcited for her own good was a good way to describe her. Thad nodded at Robbie, and jerked his head to where Jess had run off to, and picked up his own pace a little, having to make sure the little'un wouldn't go off and get herself killed.

Down along the beach, a hardy man stood. Not to say he was fat. Not at all. he was big, muscly, and a little over seven feet tall. But he stood there, out on the beach, staring out at the sea. Every so often, he stepped closer to the boat that Jess Thresher was in, but his eyes never leaving the sea.

He wasn't even there for any particular reason. After bouts of exploring or anything, well, stressful, He liked to be out by himself, taking in the scenery. Soft scenery for a hard man. So odd.

As the time went on, it got a little later, and he got closer to the boat he had not noticed yet, a smile splayed across his face. Not for too long, but it was there for a moment. A crack in his steeled person.

His thoughts were lost in the ocean breeze and smell, and another moment the smile was upon him. And then, sand shifting. He was not alone? He shook his head slightly, any and all smile, cracks in his steele, left immediately.

Thad drew himself up and huffed out a breath, rolling his shoulders to stretch them out. When Jess made her way up to him, he greeted the small, overexcited woman with a huff and a nod.

He was, well, unarmed. Not a weapon on him. Not in his steel plate, no armor at all either. He was just in casuals. Black pants, leather boots, and tight crimson tunic. From the sea, he turned to face Jess a moment and nodded. "I do."

As for part of the crew? He'd already done his fair share of the work. Just for being larger, Robbie had him doing at least enough to keep three people busy. "Muscle," he responded, and replaced his arms, folded across his chest.

Thad went down to a sitting position, his knees bent up a little, and his arms resting on his knees. Though his eyes never left the horizon of the sea. One probably would think he was staring. But it was... Much more.

He gave a slight shrug of his shoulder. "Et's alright." He liked the work, it kept his body busy and his mind distracted. "Rum? No, it's a shame..." He shook his head. A bit of heavy alcohol would hit the spot right about now. Something to warm him, on the inside, if not the outside.

He winced a little, as the smack on the back of his head was very unexpected. It didn't do a thing in the world to please him though. So as she spoke, he stood up, and turned his frame to face her, making sure there was nigh a foot between them.

Seconds after she finished, a giant finger was going to prod her in the middle of her collar bone. "Look 'ere youngin'. Somma us folks du'n need ta talk a lot ta get th'r point across. 'Nd somma us like ta keep our wor's ta ourselves." The look on his face none too pleased.

A few images from somewhere in the back of his mind. None pleasant. All hurt and stung his heart a little too much. He turned back to the sea, but his gaze dropped from the horizon to the water.

"Yeh know. I di'nt mean et. I juss du'n talk much cuz et gets me in heaps o' trouble. So I stay quie', do ma work, en' people stay happeh, y'know?" He shrugged, and lifted his head a little, though his shoulders still slouched.

"Yeh dun wanna be doin' tha' youngin'," he said, scooping up his own handful of dirt. But, because of his size, and his hands as well, the ball of wet sand was... Well... Much bigger than the one she had just thrown.

He tossed it into the air a couple of times, perfecting its roundness, and it's density. Just right, and it could knock someone out easy. "Dun go testin' yer luck."

There was hustle and bustle at the piers. Ships to be loaded and unloaded, things to be cleaned. Most of the men there were large; muscly from the long days of hard labor in the sun.

But one of them stood out from the rest. He was taller, broader, and thicker than most anyone else there, his skin the deep olive color of much time spent out at sea.

Thad came out the back of a boat, carrying two younger boat hands by the back of their shirts. Tossing them aside flat onto the docks, he yelled "Next time you two decide screwing around is more important than these shipments, I'll make sure you'll both see what the bottom of that lake looks like!"

And with that, he went into the boat, and came back out carrying two cargo containers, one under each arm, to be loaded somewhere else.

After a while, Thad came back to the ship, ready to haul out some more cargo. He went to the nearest crate, and shoved it underneath his left arm. Looking around, he decided one more thing to haul out.

Careful inspection showed there weren't any more crates that he alone could carry, so he went over to where the barrels were.

"One... or two?..." he asked himself. Then shrugging, her reached for the nearest one, getting ready to prop it on his shoulder.

Heaving the barrel over his shoulder, he set out to get off of the ship, unknowingly carrying off an extra passenger.

Stepping outside, he noticed the sun was setting. At least that was good, for it meant it was a little closer to drinking time, and he wouldn't have to put up with many more imbeciles.

Walking out from the back of the ship, he set out to put the cargo in the warehouse.

As he heaved up the barrel, he felt the weight was distributed oddly. It must be just what's in it, he thought. But when it got fully up, he felt the pressure on his shoulder.

"What the-..?"

There was a leg. He dropped the barrel, sending assorted items scattering across the bottom of the ship.

It was odd, seeing what was going on in front of him. This... tiny woman, waving that small dagger at him.

"Lass, please, put down th' toothpick, yer only goin' ta' hurt yerself with et'."

He crossed his arms across his chest and chuckled heartily. But after a while, he moved between the woman and the dock leading back to land. "Now, yer not leavin' til ya tell me what ya were doin on this 'ere boat."

His eyebrows raised in question, but he didn't move a single inch. "Who're ya tryin' ta fool? You say yer afraid, and yet here ya are, pointin' that... thing, at me."

He eyed her up and down. So small, but feisty. "So tell me, what're you doin' on tha' boat?"

What kind of games was she trying to play? Did she really think that he was supposed to fall for that?

He took a few steps forward, never taking his eyes off of her. "Come on now, This is your last chance; What were you doing on the boat?

A couple more steps, and she'd be within grabbing distance.
