The Archiver Fleet

The combined land, air, and space forces of The Archivers

0 · 515 views · located in The Aschen Rim

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by TheNoremac42

Description

Land

Nanites:
Nanites can be very dangerous in large numbers. They replicate and swarm their targets after being deployed by canisters, and begin to eat away at their armor or flesh by breaking molecular bonds. The resulting reaction often carries an explosive result.

Assault Droid:
Assault droids are the stock soldier of The Archivers' land forces. They can operate in semi-autonomous strike teams or as an unstoppable horde of metal warriors armed with high-intensity radiation beams and nanite canisters.

Exterminator:
Exterminator mechs are the most powerful and feared of The Archivers' droids. Their sole purpose is to destroy everything and everyone in their path. These titanic droids are walking tanks with nukes strapped to their arms. When defeated, their nuclear power cores self destruct - taking everything else with them.

Harvester Drone:
Harvester drones are the worker bees of The Archivers. After wiping out the indigenous population, the harvester drones will sweep over the landscape and strip it bare of all usable materials - natural or artificial.

Air

Scout Drone
The Archivers' scout drones are the eyes and ears of their intelligence gathering. They provide reconnaissance where their satellites cannot.

Hornet Drone
The Hornets are the standard air support for The Archivers. They operate as fighters, bombers, and gunships as they supplement the ground forces with devastating missiles and warheads.

Deployment Carrier
These massive aircraft act as transports for the ground and air forces. Though they have very little weaponry besides defensive turrets, the carriers are equipped with thick armor and robust shields that will adequately protect them while they deploy their cargo.

Repair Drone
A low-class drone designed to repair and maintain other drones that have been broken or damaged.

Space

Command Station:

These titanic planetoid-sized vessels carry the main body of the Archivist forces. They roam the cosmos in search of other worlds and civilizations to observe and research, depopulate and strip mine, or trade for resources. When invading a world, the command station will release numerous Deployment Carriers across the globe while raining hellish destruction upon populated cities.

Class: Colossus
Plating: Crystal-Forged Plating, modified alloys harvested from crystalline cosmic titans that improve hull integrity.
:Armor: Neutronium Armor (Strength: * * * * *), hyperdense armor forged out of material mined from neutron stars.
Shields Dark Matter Reflectors (Strength: *), these deflectors utilize dark matter to deflect incoming projectiles in a way that seems to utterly defy the laws of nature.
Auxiliary Systems: None
Core Components:
Reactor: Dark Matter; these generators appear to somehow draw energy directly from dark matter, providing more power than should be possible according to the laws of physics.
FTL: Jump Drive; these drives shred the local space-time continuum and rearranges it on the quantum level to be identical to that of the target destination - and thus the ship appears to near-instantly ā€œjumpā€ from system to system.

No living civilizations have observed the use of these weapons, however.

Lancer:
Lancers are massive dreadnaught-sized vessels designed to obliterate capital ships and space stations with their powerful spinal-mounted weapons, plasma cannons, and kinetic artillery. A massive vessel emerged from dark space as the Milky Way Galaxy and all its inhabitants fell through the cosmos. At first glance many would believe it to be an orphaned planetoid or large asteroid, but the spike of energy signatures revealed otherwise. Small asteroids and clouds of space debris fell into the orbit of the vessel as it drifted towards the distant stars.

<< Suitable planets detected. Initiate diagnostic procedures. >>

The fabric of space surrounding the Archiver Command Station warped and shifted as the ship propelled itself further into the Outer Arm, leaving its temporary satellites behind. Advanced sensors rippled throughout the galaxy as it took readings of the various planets and scanned for indigenous lifeforms.

Information.

This was the greatest wealth of The Archivers. If one removed all emotion, ingrained ethical stigmas, and redundant philosophies from the cosmos, all that would remain would be raw and uncorrupted data. Everything in the universe was data - from the spin of an atom to the rotation of a galaxy. Even the temporal cultures and lives of organic species, from their conception to their inevitable decay, could be factored, dissected, reduced, and simplified into rudimentary mathematics and logic.

The Archiver Command Station continued to delve further into the Milky Way galaxy - propelled by spacial distortion that clung to the monstrous vessel like a shell. An Awareness stirred from within its titanic walls - beyond the rhythmic tectonic quakes of its inner mechanisms. Countless sensors watched the surrounding stars like a hundred thousand unblinking eyes and ears until a few stray radio signals captured its attention.

The Awareness narrowed its perception on the source - a distant planet just beyond its immediate gaze. It was inhabited, at least by the time the signals were broadcasted. Was it still populated, or was the Awareness too late to record and archive whatever data could be scavenged?

Amongst the endless backdrop of the velvety blackness of space, the Oberon would arrive to find nothing, as far as sensors could sweep there was a deep nothingness. It was sheer luck that they managed to pierce the cordon that the exogarden had set up, and it was at this moment the fleet would find themselves deep within the lion's den.

There would be no warning, and the intention made clear to the Watchtower that had picked them up on scan.

Something would likely briefly flit onto scanners, but only for a moment and most likely disregarded as an anomaly, a single LISBM Type 33-Nike "Thunderbolt" Insterstellar AI guided ballistic missile moved silently through the blackness of space. Utilizing an array of wide spectral jamming, with it's suite of electronic warfare countermeasures, and it's autistic-mode AI guidance, the missile moved silently, and virtually invisibly through the blackness of space towards the formation of warships in the distance.

A single message was broadcast as a response, a coded bitstream signal broadcast from an unknown source that read in a basic mathematical language.

"Attention unidentified vessels, you have approximately thirty seconds from the receipt of this message to disperse from this territory."

Precisely thirty seconds lapsed, and should the missile reach it's destination, envelope the formation of ships in a powerful detonation that erupted first with a powerful surge of beta particles and gamma rays. It was the only warning before everything collapsed, and the very essence of space and time itself was rend asunder into a tear that stretched several million kilometers across, threatening to envelope the entire fleet into the maw of some kind of warp chasm that persisted, drawing them in with intense gravitic eddies that tore at entire starships.

In an instant, the chasm began to evaporate, and with the shockwave of a dying star, dissipated entirely, likely taking several dozen ships with it.

It took a couple seconds for the missile to be spotted by one of the smaller ships on the outside, the Dependable, and when it did it attempted to contact High Command, only to quickly realize that it couldnā€™t establish a link.
The smaller engagement ship does a quick twirl, alerting the nearby fighters through visual stimuli, and propels itself rapidly towards the missile, attempting to engage it, getting close enough to throw it off slightly before the detonation.

The resulting blast takes out the majority of outer ships, the fleet being spaced out as a precaution to prevent warp accidents, including destroying the Courteousness, and its section of the fleet, roughly thirty ships.
The remaining ships at first respond with panic, which quickly settles as they space out even further in response, in small clusters of three or four ships. They begin advancement deeper into Aschen space.
