The Dead Set

Marionette-like people, or.. Perhaps people-like Marionettes.

0 · 1,726 views · located in Wing City Gardens (South)

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Rooster

Description

People made out of other things, false things. People go missing, then come back different, blank stares replace their once lively gazes, and their flesh, once warm and blushed, becomes pale and cold like porcelain. Though this is easily enough ignored.. Or hidden. Many prominent government and Military officials show signs of The set, if only a little bit.

The Rich, The Poor, The Law-Abiding, The Criminal.

All are welcome to complete the set.

Scarlet 'Bloody Dame' Jalleppa- The Crimson Clad Singer of The Tin-Pan McCoy, a party boat on Ol' Muddy. Scarlet is a Sultry jack of both trades, being a Soprano and Alto, as well as a charmer and.. A frequent user of 1920's Slang. Went missing April 5th 1925, reappeared October 16th, better than ever, but paler than ever, and cold.

Monty 'Big Six' Skelton- A zoot suited, pencil mustached, sharp sideburned, fedora wearing smuggler with a fancy for the M1911's. Thin, tall, but well known for being a dead-eye with his .45's, his name is 'Big Six' because of his strong-arming tactics in his bootlegging operations. You needed something smuggled anywhere you'd ask Skelton. Went missing June 17th 1925, reappeared November 29th, pale and cold.

Ilsa 'Le Loup' Krueger- The German, blonde haired, blue eyed 'Aryan' woman with a voluptuous frame wrapped in a trench coat of strong smelling black leather, leather gloves, a long black skirt, black boots and a black silk scarf. Nicknamed 'Le Loup' for various ramblings of countless mad, institutionalized French soldiers that had escaped her on the field during WW2, never ceasing to scream 'Le loup, le loup! Le femme de diable nous hante!'. Her canines are slightly sharper than normal women, and on full moons her eyes shift from blue to yellow. Went missing May 6th 1945, reappeared May 8th 1945, pale and cold.

Jack 'Jill' Nocta- What all crossdressers aspire to be, 'Jill' was born a feminine boy and he grew into a feminine man..-woman...thing, With a woman's delicate features on his face and narrow shoulders, with the right clothing he'd look like a flat-chested girl. But despite his fantasies Jill wears circular-apertured eye glasses, a white dress shirt tucked into his pants, a black waist-coat, a black leather belt with a golden buckle, black dress-pants, black socks and black leather dress shoes. Occasionally white gloves will cover his hands. Nocta's hair is black, wavy and long, reaching his shoulders before ending. His eyes are dark blue.

When he was growing, his adoptive parents believed that a feminine boy of his kind would face many "Sinful Temptations" and packed him up at Age 15, sending him to a Templar Monastery overlooking the Solinus Sea. Though raised by his parents and the Templars as a devout man of god, Jack was a logical boy and doubted the almighty's existence.. But after the events that transpired in the monastery it was hard no to believe in the darker beasts from the Templar's tales. Jack was practically a maid for the Monks and Templars, instructed to clean all unlocked chambers in the main building (Jack wondered why the almighty wouldn't just clean his 'own manuscripts'). The boy did as instructed, cleaning all the chambers, until one. The door was slightly cracked open and a feeling of dread came over him by even standing near it.. But if he didn't clean them all the Templars would beat him for his insolence..so.. He dared to enter. Inside only a few dark smudges remained, with the smell of burnt robes lingering. Before Jack could retreat he had stepped one foot inside of a sealing circle and quickly shielding his eye with his left arm and drawing back with the right half of his body, was half possessed. Jack's left arm, eye and leg are under demonic control, which, with quick acting from the merciful High-Chanter, were sealed with similar tattoo symbols than those on the ground within the chamber. One on his forearm, one on his shin and one under his left eye. Under huge amounts of stress, pain or under the effect of unholy magic, the binds are broken and the demonic ichor within him triggers a blood-lust and allows for the manipulation of unholy auras, vice versa, the seals placed by the Templars calms Jill and allows him to use Holy chants to dispel darkness.

After this event Jack was kept behind bars for years, under observation from Priests and Templars to evaluate the seal's dispelling power.

Jack Never went missing and.. He was always a rather cold and pale child.

So begins...

Queen Peered down at the screaming feline, annoyed quite easily. "So loud.. Why is that? Why couldn't they be nice and quiet like you?" Her gaze fell back on her 'plaything', then shifted to Claw "..What should I care..? Well, I suppose you did bring me this lovely young lady.. Maybe a tad more politeness is in order.. Hmm.. I like Kitty cats. They say they guard the paths to the afterlife, and that they will steal the life from young children if they are allowed to sleep in the same room at night. How charming."

Queen Blinks, her true odd nature reaching it's pinnacle when presented with the cat, holding a corpse. "What was that, Dear? Allergic to cats? Oh, that's horrible. Take it away! I can't have my girlfri-.. Oh, forgive me, honey.. I didn't mean to call you my girlfriend.. It's just.. I thought we had something special.. Don't we?" The Queen had turned the corpse around, it's head limply leaned back. "Outraged? But it.. Isn't my fault! .. I didn't say I wasn't sorry! Please forgive me!" Her own little world..

Queen bites her bottom lip hard, a blue liquid spilling out of the wound, not because of the screech, she had barely noticed it, or the person leaving. She could care less, they weren't her people, this corpse was. Dead like her. It was nice being with her own people.. And that annoying, unchivalrous, peasant had stopped talking.. It was a good day.

Bishop Sat at the bar wearily, one hand up to his face, the thumb and index finger around a toothpick. The other hand's fingers were jammed in the gap between his neck-guard and his necrotic flesh. His long white hair was slightly disheveled today, as always, and parts of it hung over the synthetic enhanced eye in place of his former. "Hm.. Bounty hunting. I'm more of a splatter their graymatter and run sort.. But maybe The King.." The Piece thought aloud, commenting about Koinu. It was a habit.

With a sigh he gazed over at Tristan, giving a slight applause to the man's music as a sign of appreciation. After all, anything to drown out the riptides of stupidity in this lair of the wicked.

Bishop Cursed as the toothpick burned his tongue. He also had a habit of picking up packs of Cinnamon-Stix, pretty much just toothpicks coated in what seemed to be cinnamon flavored lava. Or at least Bishop would have people think, as whenever the stick would touch his tongue for over a few seconds he would cringe in pain, curse and rip the pick out of his mouth, before trying to find a different location that might burn less. "Fuck." The Necrotic's accent twisted the word, making it sound like 'Fack'.

With a shuffle in his seat, the Set Piece's large personal Rail-gun adjusted itself on his back and locked into place. A deeper voice was audible near him as a Knight from his set commented. "I do not see why you maintain your effort to use those whn they pain you so."

The tired French sniper Necrotic stared over at the armored Piece with a look as if someone had forcibly pried his mouth into a half scowl half smile, the toothpick sticking straight out of his teeth and his one emotable eye weary.

Bishop Cringed as Chad shouted and bit down on his toothpick. "You're not hearing things, people try to blow this rock off the face of the material universe every other Wednesday" Bishop replied, rubbing his right temple in annoyance as the bar's conglomerative populace started to foam over about the comment of shooting big rocks at the rock they were currently occupying.

Bishop raises his hand and points to Tabitha S, agreeing. "I.. can have some off days, but in the whole scheme of things I'd rather not be completely obliterated. Already died once.. Or twice, no more would be great, thanks." an irritated thumb and index finger pinched the bridge of his nose.

The Knight next to Bishop moves his hand back to his Vibro-sword, in case a confrontation occurred.

Bishop's white eyebrow twitched in annoyance, waving a dismissive hand at Chad McGilligan "Don't be an enabler, I might be around then."

Bishop slaps his palm to his forehead, shaking his head disappointedly. "I mean, don't tell him to postpone it, just tell him don't or kick his ass! He only has one follower and himself, how hard could it be?" His forehead was wrinkled slightly in annoyance and his toothpick was snapped in half on the counter. "But if you let him go he's just gunna keep picking up little freaks like that one he did today, and eventually he'll have an army. Hell, he might even hire mercenaries. If he hires a set like mine it'd.. Actually, He should, so I don't die. Just in case." Bishop smiles coyly. He was the most cowardly of the Set.

Bishop turned in his bar-stool, placing a new toothpick between his teeth. Knight still stood beside him, hand on the hilt of his sword, steadfast already. "Maybe we'll get to see some entertainment tonight."

Bishop Tilted his head, waving at Chad slightly. "Hey, Brusier. The guy he commissioned into making his big orbital gun is still here. Why don't you strong-arm him or.. kill him? Maybe? I mean, without pillars a roof falls, eh? That Villain only has two. The Piece smiled snarkily, The Knight next to him still holding the hilt of the Bastard sword he wielded.

Knight scoffed and turned to Bishop as he waited for a fight to begin. The Knight was a dauntingly tall man, at a good Seven feet and more, but he didn't seem to talk much. It was like his armor kept him bottled up within himself. "That one may get himself killed before he gets the chance to build the weapon." The brute hinted silently.

Bishop nodded and adjusted his voice, the enhanced eye in his face zooming on Agito's weapon to scope it out. "That would be convenient. We can't make a move against them or with them until it is our turn, sentenced by the King. An added instinct that I loathe with great passion." A sneer replaced his half-smile and the Knight laughed mechanically.

Bishop and Knight both laugh at Chad's reaction to the gunfire. One bullet and he was freaking out? Oh dear. With the Multiverse one could only assume. And Bishop had assumed too much of the boy, it seemed. Just a delinquent? Only time would tell. And Bishop had nothing but it. "This looks like it'll get interesting. Could you kill him you think, Knight? Or is he too fast for you?" The Sniper pondered. Knight answered "Perhaps I could, if not I would die and a Rook or Queen would take the field to claim him."

Scarlet Jalleppa looked like she had just stepped straight out of the 1920's in the attire she wore, a long red, sparkling dress with matching boa, red dress gloves, polished red heels and her pale face expertly coated in make-up. Scarlet's lips coated in a crimson lipstick that mimicked her waving hair that hung down out of the black fedora she wore.

When she stepped into the bar, a few men stopped drinking and laughing and just stared. One or two of them as pale as her. "Ah.. What A charming night, a bit chilly outside, boys.. I think I might have caught a chill!" She swooned, a silk covered hand placed backwards on her forehead, chest pushed out. Some of the men cheered or wolf-whistled, and Scarlet winked, waving them away as she moved to the bar.

Scarlet peered over to the man and smiled, waving a bit as she batted her eyelashes playfully. "It's my first time here, a friend suggested it, Darling. Could you.. Uhm.." Her eyes traced along his ludicrous straw's design, she laughs silently. "Could you tell me how this sort of machine works, Sugar?" The woman's accent, flowing from her luscious lips was that of a slight southern Twang, but not so much that it seemed slow, it was more of a noble way of talking.

Miss Jalleppa Placed her silk-covered hand over her mouth and lets out another giggle, this one a little bit more audible. With a nod she leaned closer to the man and the device, her red feathered boa covering any view Zach would receive as bent over with her low-cut dress. "Like.. This?" One of her long, dainty fingers presses into the non-alcoholic panel on the touch screen, and it fades away, more panels appearing with the drink names. "Oh! I think I did it right.." Her lips curved upwards into a content smile as she located 'Shirley Temple (non-alcoholic)' and clicked it. Now..What?"

Scarlet raised her eyebrows in shock as the floating thing set down her drink, biting her lower lip and eventually clapping in amusement, smiling once more. "Oh! A floating metal automaton, how.. alien! And amazing, as well, Is hould say.." The woman had heard the stories about this place.. But seeing is believing. When the droid was done, Scarlet attempted to answer Zach, before spotting a reflection of herself in a particularly shiny portion of the bar's polished wood. She snatches a tube of lipstick from her purse and beings to re-apply it in a professional manner as she spoke. "Ah.. You could say... He doesn't trust me much."

Scarlet placed both hands over her mouth and tilted her head when she was scolded by the metal thing. ".. Intelligence.. Construct..?" The woman mumbled. "You'll have to forgive me, Sir..? I'm just a simple party-goer at home on the Mississippi. I don't know anything about any constructs." She smiled and lifted the drink, sipping at it daintily before smiling at Zach once more. "You sure like lemonade, Sug. Has god given you lemons in your life?" Fleshbag.. Very Far from the truth. "He sure has given me many of them."

Miss Jalleppa smiles sweetly and placed a surprisingly cold hand over Zach's shoulder, in an attempt to be comforting, though she would seek to convince the man that her life was worse, through just rumors. "People are wary of me now-a-days on the big river.. Ah.. The Mississippi River, I mean. Lotsa good folks go missin' on the river. It's not that unheard of for them to have too many drinks and fall in. Most of them fat cats are too loaded with money to swim, huh?" Scarlet nudged him playfully, hoping he'd get the lingo. "But folks like to say they go missin' around little old me, could you believe that? Like little Scarlet could hurt a soul."

Scarlet tilted her head the little flotation device and straightened her head as it was tucked back into the pack. "I'm not sure what that little thing could do, but I doubt it would matter with some of the Bootleggin' birds of Ol' Muddy. Some of them beat their gums so hard all night on the snake that I wouldn't be surprised if they mistook the water for more soldier." The Slang was strong with this one. "But.. Not friends, darling. Most of those cats are regular..jims." She waved as he went, blinking.
