Members:

Yah'akov "Jacob" Kohen: Jacob plays as the lead drummer of the Enoch Echoes. He is blind, though that has virtually no bearing on his amazing skill. Yah'akov also likes to do vocals or saxephone on occasion. His drum set is a Yamaha brand acustic, and his sticks are Vic Virth.

Aharon "Aaron" Bergner: Aaron is the lead vocals for the band. He also plays electric guitar, drums, and trumpet.

Rebecca "Becca" Hirsh: Rebecca plays secondary vocals and keyboard for the band. Her voice is often described as angelic, soothing, yet powerful. She can also play the violin with great skill.

Nah'tan "Nathan" Kohen: Nathan plays secondary guitar and second trumpet. He is also Jacob's older brother.

Mordechai "Marty" Gold: Marty plays bass guitar and trombone for the band. He is also responsible for setting up all the sound equipment.

The door opened with a loud creak. Bracing the door was the hand of a bearded man in a button-downed shirt and blue jeans. White and blue tassels dangled from his belt loops. He stroked the tip of his beard as he scanned the room through a pair of dark shades.

"Oi, let's set up over there!" he pointed at the stage. "Pull the van around back so it'll be easier to get to."

He went back through the front door, only to emerge from the back a moment later. In his hands were a black plastic guitar case and trumpet case. Aaron looked around the bar. It was pretty empty, but the crowd would probably be coming in pretty soon.

From the same doorway came man carrying another guitar and trumpet case. He was tall lanky, and walked with a small limp. Nathan scanned the room and frowned. Were they entertaining ghosts or something?

Then came a stout black man that held a long fabric guitar bag swung over his shoulder. He kept one hand hooked beneath the strap while the other held a bulky trombone case. The man's stride bounced with the beat playing through his earbuds. Marty really didn't care that there wasn't anyone around. He just wanted to jam!

After Marty came a slender brunette that snickered at her larger friend's strut. She was dressed in a white blouse and skinny jeans that accented her slight curves. A small flute case dangled from her hand. Becca's other hand was wrapped around the crutch of an elbow.

Jacob was clad in a simple pair of blue-jeans, a red t-shirt, and a leather jacket. His white tennis-shoes squeaked lightly as he stepped into the room. Four sets of blue and white threaded tassels dangled from his belt loops. The man gripped a long white cane in his left hand and slowly passed it in front of his feet like a radar, while his right was guided by the other woman.

"Alright... We can put the drums right there, the microphone there, the keyboard there..." Aaron continued to stroke his beard. "Marty, what ya think? Marty? Marty!"

"Eh? Wha'?" Marty pulled out an earbud. "Oh, right. Yo jus' handle yer singin' stuff. Let me handle the equipment." he patted Aaron's shoulder before turning to Cryo. "Thanks mang. Will do!"

The group slid their cases up on the stage and started for the back door. Nathan glanced at Neb. "Yeah can ya give us a hand with the mic's and amp's? We also need to bring in the drums. Sooner we can do sound check the better."

Jacob, the one with the guiding cane, cautiously made his way up onto the stage. He sat on the ground with his legs crossed and waited for the others to get back.

Marty, Aaron, Nathan, and Becca emerged from the back door with a keyboard case, an amp, and drum parts in their hands.

"Woooweee!" shouted Marty, the only black member of the band. "I'm feelin' some bad vibes 'round this joint. It's time we get some soul flowin' through here!"

Nathan eyed Sirad cautiously and looked back at Jacob, his younger blind brother, who sat calmly on the stage. He didn't care who this chick was. If she tried to hurt him, then he would whoop her back into whatever hole she crawled out of.

Jacob, on the other hand, simply sat where he was. He heard the screams and smelled the sulfur. The man could feel the strong negative spiritual presence that entered the building. While another man would scream or flee in terror, he focused on something else. He silently prayed.

As Marty, Aaron, and Nathan started setting up the equipment, Becca turned and nodded at Neb. "Yeah I think we still have a few drum pieces." she said while taking inventory. "Let's see... We still need the bass, snare, and cymbals. I think we have all the toms."

Nathan glared at Jacob. "Shush! What do you think you're doing?!" he whispered harshly. Sometimes his younger brother's child-like faith really irritated Nathan.

Aaron gave Neb a nod. "Shalom. I'm Aaron, that's Marty, Becca, Nathan, and the one up on the stage is Jacob. We're the Enoch Echoes. So Neb, what kind of music do you like? We play a lot of different kinds."

The band members worked busily to set up the microphones, keyboard, and guitar stands. Marty heaved and shoved the amps to their proper place and quickly strung out the cables. Aaron and Nathan set up the acoustic drum set around Jacob, who now sat on a circular wheeled stool. Becca busily clicked away at the buttons of her large double-keyboard.

Once the drums were set up, Jacob glided his hands over the individual pieces. "Let's see... That's the snare. Oh, here's the high hat. Nate, can you move over this crash a tad. Thanks. Where's the kick - Ah here it is! Where my sticks at?"

"Right here Jake!" Marty shouted as he pulled the pair of Vic Virth wooden drumsticks from his back pocket. He set them in Jacob's waiting hand.

"I think we might have something that'll suit your likes..." Aaron said to Neb. "It has a bit of an Italian feel, but it is about sailing." he chuckled.

"Alright, tuning and sound check everybody!" Aaron called out to the rest of the band. Becca assembled her flute and blew across the instrument. Marty, Aaron, and Nathan each took turns giving their guitars a few strums as the messed with the strings. Jacob worked with a trumpet and saxophone.

"You're a little sharp, Becca. Marty, pull out a bit. Nate, I think you need a little more valve lubricant." Jacob called out to the individual members. His blindness had a few advantages - like that his other senses had become more acute.

"Check... Check... One two check." Aaron chanted into the microphone.

As the rest of the band did their pre-show routine, Jacob decided to do some warm ups. His stick bounced on the snare like a trampoline. Despite being blind, he knew exactly where ever piece was. The drummer broke into a pulsating drum roll that filled the stage with the distinct buzz of the snares rattling against the bottom of the drum. He tapped the bass at his feet with a precise rhythmic beat.

Da-dun... Da-dun... Da da da-duh-thump.

His hands bounced to a large tom that rumbled like thunder with the bass. Jacob's wrists rose and fell like waves with the accented beats. The blind drummer's sticks ricocheted into the crash and rye cymbals, forming a complex and hair raising rhythm.

The sticks moved in a blur across the drum set. They flipped and bounced over each other as he made his way up the toms. Jacob's tongue poked out from his mouth slightly as he concentrated on the opening cadence. A steady series of triplets resonated from the bass guitar as Marty joined in.

"Good evening ladies an' gentlemen." Aaron's voice bellowed from the amp. "We are the Enoch Echoes. I'm Aaron, that's Jacob and Marty. Next to me is Nathan and on the keyboard we have the lovely Rebecca. Tonight we have a good set planned, so I hope you enjoy the show..."

"Let's start with Tiger?" Aaron looked at Nathan.

"Good enough for me!" he grinned while weaving his guitar pick between his fingers.

Jacob nodded and broke into a roll. His fingers and wrists blurred as the roll picked up speed and force. Suddenly, his sticks launched into the two crash cymbals.

Nathan bounced his guitar in sync with the crash, and went into a steady pulsating rhythm. As Nathan plucked the cords, Marty slid his finger down one of the bass strings, creating an unbroken wave of resonance. Finally, Jacob joined back in with a roll on the high hat.

Dun...... Dun dun dun...... Dun dun dun.... Dun dun duuuuunnnnnn....

Aaron's guitar barked the well-known notes along with Jacob's cymbal. The rhythm repeated a few times until Aaron erupted in an early solo. Jacob's drums joined in with a smooth rock beat using his bass, snare, high-hat, and a tambourine.

"Risin' up... Back on the streeet... Took my time - took my chances. Went the distance an' now I'm back on mah feet. Just a man and his will to surviiiiive!"

"So many times, it happens too fast... You change your passion for glory! Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past. You must fight jus' to keep them alliiiiive!"

"It's the eye of the tiger; it's the thrill of the fight - risin' up to the challenge of our riiiivaaal! As the last known survivor stalks the prey in the night... and he's watching... us all... in the... EEEEYYYYYEEEE..."

"... of the tiiigeerrrr...."

"Face t' face... out in the heeeat..." Aaron continued the lyrics. Becca joined in with her double-keyboard, and the other members kept up the well memorized chords. "Hangin' tough... stayin' hungry... They stack the odds 'til we take to the street - for we kill with the skill to surviiiive!"

"It's the eye of the tiger; it's the thrill of the fight - risin' up[/o] to the challenge of our riiiivaaal!... And the [i]last known survivor stalks the prey in the night... and he's watching... us all... in the... EEEYYYYEEE...."

There was a pause in the lyrics as Nathan continued with his steady guitar rhythm. Marty slid his finger along the frets again as Jacob built up a second high-hat roll.

"Risin' up... straight to the tooopp. Had the guts, got the glory!... Went the distance now I'm not gonna stop. Jus' a man and his will to surviiiive!"

"It's the eye of the tiger; it's the cream of the fight - risin' up to the challenge of our riiiivaaal!... And the last known survivor stalks the prey in the night... and he's watching... us all... in the... EEEYYYYEEEeeeeeeee...."

"... of the tiiigerrrrrr!..."

Aaron broke into a solo, resonating the familiar rhythm of the song. Becca continued with the long notes from her electric keyboard - accenting the deep chords.

"... The eye of the tigerrr........ The eye of the tigeerrrrurrurr....... The eye of the tigerrrruh!..."

The song ended with a single chord woven by all three guitars and the keyboard. With a quick rattitat from the snare, the chord ceased.

"Wooooo!" Marty hooted. "Now we're gettin' the blood pumpin'! How 'bout we do somethin' to mellow everyone out a bit?"

"How's One Day sound?" Becca chirped from behind her keyboard.

Aaron nodded. "Sounds good..." he said before turning to the audience. "Hey everybody! For those who just came in, we're tonight's entertainment - The Enoch Echoes. Our next song is one of our personal favorites... It's about peace a cry for peace - for when one day our children can roam freely through the streets and nations will forget war..."

"One... Two... One two three four!"

A calm soothing string of chords emerged between the two guitarists, accented by a background resonance from the bass guitar. They strummed slowly and precisely across the strings.

"Ooooooahhyaaahhaaaa... Hamahalllaaaahaaa... One daayy... One dayy... Amalalaaa... One daayyyy" Aaron and Jacob sang and hummed into the microphones. Behind them, Becca readied her violin and formed the rhythm with a steady plucking from her bow.

"Sometimes I lay... under t'e moon... An' thank Goood I'm breathin'!... Then I pray - don' take me soooon... 'Cause I'm here for reason!"

In a deft movement, Marty picked up his trombone and took over Becca's rhythm. Her free fingers danced across her keyboard with fluid-like movement.

Silence. Jacob's sticks hovered above the drum. Marty's finger lightly tapped the strings in a steady beat.

Rebecca placed her hands on the keyboard. A low electronic hum resonated from the amp.

The silence was broken by the distortion of two electric guitars and bass. Combined with the rattle and buzz from the snare and the thump of the bass drum, they formed a dark chanting march.

"You shine darker than night. You are older than light." Aaron rumbled, his voice several octaves lower.

"You are invisible! You have no face..."

"And you have been hiding gauntly since the beginning of time,"

"Black Sun..."

"You penetrate and numb the mind... You illuminate my mind. You tempt and you steal. You are cold and your glow died long ago... And you have warmed me mentally since the beginning of time..."

"Black Sun..."

Crash crash CRASH!

Rebecca joined the music with the sharp twang of her violin, matching the dark tune.

"Ever desirous to follow..." Aaron chanted. "... the smell of blood... wildly... in the course of Hell! Ever desirous to follow.... the smell of blood... Is Cerberus!"

"You appear in my dream, you caress my black heart!" Aaron continued on the microphone as the chorus died down. "You contribute to the light of the life tree, you free me from pain... And you have actually been frightening me for all of time..."

"Black Sun..."

"You fly faster than light,"

"The Carnivore," Rebecca's angelic voice echoed in the background.

"You are over everything at the same time..."

"The Cerberus..."

"YOU are not MOTHER or FATHER and not the Kingdom of Heaven!"

"are kept here... in the underworld."

"But without you I am NOTHING for all of time..."

"They burn..."

The music ascended into the chorus as Aaron and Rebecca's voices intertwined. One of the guitarist danced his fingers up the neck of the guitar.

"Ever desirous to [i]follow... the smell of blood..."

"... Is Cerberus!"

A silent beat.

The slow whisper of the violin.

"I buuuurn without eeennd..." Aaron's electronic voice whispered. Rebecca continued her violin solo in junction with the lyrics. "Demons spare meee... Racing... I fear the eye..."
