He nodded, lowering the bag of feed and resting it in his lap so he could place his hands together. "A clone? A copy?" His eyes sought the sky. "I wonder what I was cloned from."

"Yes," he answered, "I feel much stronger now." There was a hesitance. A definite pause. "Do you think I was meant to be a weapon?"

Like so.

In the middle of the forest amongst tumbled down stones and damaged structures sat a lone figure cross-legged and staring forward, or at least it appeared they were staring forward. Still in the armour they had worn when 'birthed' from the tube, the pale-purple fleshed creature looked near machine. For a start, their eyes were hidden by a black visor and strange helmet and what looked to be metal shoulder pads. Wires ran between the two, and the arm guards the creature wore, which were matched only be the shin guards and the almost stylised metal armour around the groin.

It looked very sci-fi and hardly practical. After all, it left their mid-driff bare, and the experiment clearly didn't have much in the way of physical strength. They were all gangly and slim. Of their physical features what most stood out was three things. The first was their head which was angled and almost catlike, but with the ears affixed to their skull instead of detached. The second was their fingers, three on each hand with bulbous ends like a gecko. The third was their lengthy tail which was nearly as high as their head.

Even while sitting it was obvious the thing was shorter than a human in size. And there they were. Staring or meditating. It was hard to tell.

He slowly spun on the spot, pushing on the rock with his feet to turn around and to stare into the forest. He could hear voices. Up rose 'Z' as he had been dubbed, staring for a moment with apprehension. Had his creators come to reclaim their possession? Or give him an answer to his existence? Instead of going with fear, he went with determination. He felt confident, like not a thing could harm him, as he marched towards the sound of the voice.

"Who goes there?" his voice penetrated the air. It was a vocal projection, not generated by speech, air and vocal chords, but from his mind to the surrounding atmosphere. Telepathy.

The figure made his way in the direction of her voice, but as for intimidating sights went he was not that high on the scale. Sure, he looked like some sort of pale-purple alien in a war suit, but he was probably shorter than her (unless she was very short) and his voice carried a calm tone. He tilted slightly to the side to look past a tree and see the woman.

"Sorry... Did I startle you? I did not mean to." He actually sounded very neutral, almost robotic if it wasn't for the underlying human tones.

He stared for several moments, then answered with a cautious, "I was designed that way. I only have my missing creators to be thankful for." He didn't think he was beautiful. How could he be? He was a clone. For a brief moment he contemplated whether being a clone made him better or worse than what he was based off. "I am Z."

He stared from behind his visor. "I don't wish to lie to you. It is not neccesarily nice to meet you," he answered slowly. "I was hoping for answers not... Strangers."

He stared for a moment, then nodded. "It is only answers I hope for. Why I was created. What my purpose is." There were other questions which muddled his mind, but he wished not to dwell on them.

"Yes, I will come brilliantly," he answered, a hint of humour in his voice, or maybe it was her imagination. (It wasn't). He followed along behind her with surprisingly soft steps considering how much metal must have been weighing him down, as if worried about where he was stepping. His head was always tilted down, either watching where he walked or in thought. It was hard to tell without seeing his eyes.

When she walked into a tree was the moment he realised she had been looking at him, suddenly watching her from behind his visor. What a curious... Individual. He decided that maybe conversation would be the best route. "I think I am a clone," he informed her, "I can remember flickers... Memories from when I was contained within a tube. I think I was the second. They kept referring to me as 'two'."

He turned his head forward, silent for a moment. "I have no idea. That's what I'm trying to find out." There was a hesitation. "I fear I was a weapon." Another pause. "No, I don't fear being a weapon... A fear a lack of purpose. Is it better to be a weapon than to be nothing?"

He stared at her, then nodded. "I have heard that. But it will not answer why I was created. Or what I was created from." Now that was a question of great curiosity to the experiment. They were number two, but to what?

He nodded. "If there is something to be found," he added with a hint of negativity, "But thank you."

The backwards and roundabout path concerned Z. He felt like he was lying. Sneaking around to ask questions he made no effort to hide. "I just want to know what I was created from, and what I was created for." Should this be the right company and Grenadine be particularly good at hacking, two things would be uncovered. The first would be his purpose, specifically that he was created, along with many others like him, to be biological weapons latent in psychic powers.

"Oh," he said, a downtrodden echo to his voice. "Anything else?" The only other piece of information that was confirmed was a name. 'Mewtwo'.

He had been motionless until that point, this creature dubbed 'Z'. His pale flesh made him almost blend in with the scenary, especially with all the metal covering his form, from helmet to chest to lower body. But as she approached his head turned to stare at her through the dark visor at the front. Not a human creature, they rose to their feet and looked down from their high-perching on top of a pillar.

It was obvious that despite his high ground, he was not tall, maybe four feet. His legs were massive compared to his upper half, and instead of fingers he had grippers. "Hello," came the calm voice from the creature, reverberating behind their helmet. The helmet gave off the impression of a more reptillian creature, though a lack of scales seemed to indicate otherwise.

And then they descended, dropping the short distance from pillar to floor. "Did you come looking for me?" he asked.

"Yes, I did," he responded calmly. "I did not mean to, though."

He tilted his head. "You seem worried. I hope my presence isn't a source of discomfort for you..." He turned his head sidewards, staring into the trees. "But I guess I have made for a poor first impression. May you give me a chance to make a new one?"

"I am Z," he answered, looking down to her hand and raising his gecko like counterpart to shake. When their hands touched she would likely be able to feel the grip behind those fingers, certainly enough to help him stick to walls and maybe even ceilings without that heavy armour on. "That is all I am known as, but I do not mind."

"It is nice to meet you Analisa. What brings you to these... parts?"

"You don't need to go. It is not that I am expecting someone specific at a specific time, but that I think someone will come for me eventually. It only matters when." He looked down to his hand in thought, then back to her. "So I wait here, near the ruins of my birthplace, hoping one will come." Of course, he was talking of a place more sinister than the ruined stone. An underground base.
