"The Emperor protects."

Description

Image
"We are the warriors of the Grey Knights, armoured in faith, shielded by devotion and armed with purity of purpose. But greater even than these, we carry the light of the divine Emperor of Man into the dark places to purge the Daemonic wherever it may be found."

The Grey Knights is a secret, mysterious Loyalist Chapter of Space Marines specifically tasked with combating the dangerous daemonic entities of the Warp and all those who wield the corrupt power of the Chaos Gods. They have the honour of being implanted with gene-seed engineered directly from the genome of the Emperor Himself. The Grey Knights act as the military arm or Chamber Militant of the Ordo Malleus, the Daemonhunters who form the oldest branch of the virtually omnipotent Inquisition. The Grey Knights' fortress-monastery is based on Titan, the largest of the moons of the gas giant Saturn in the Sol System, that is kept as a private preserve of the Inquisition. The existence of the Chapter is virtually unknown outside of the Inquisition and the highest echelons of the Imperial Adepta, and is a well-guarded secret enforced by mind-wipes and even assassination of Imperial citizens if necessary. Unlike other Astartes, every Grey Knight is a potent psyker. Yet, in the 10,000 standard years of Imperial history, no Grey Knight has ever been corrupted by the Ruinous Powers of Chaos.

Unlike almost all other Space Marine Chapters, the Grey Knights do not follow the tenets of the Codex Astartes in the matter of force organisation. Due to the unique manner in which the Grey Knights are recruited and trained, each warrior progresses through a series of pre-ordained ranks and will operate in a particular squad led by an individual of higher rank, rather than being assigned to a particular Battle Company. These squads may be called upon to act independently from the main body of the Grey Knight force, and have to operate at full efficiency even when light years away from the rest of their Chapter. As such, the Brother-Captain who is the leader of each Grey Knight squad is obeyed immediately and without question by those under his command.

Combat Doctrine:
Most engagements of the Chapter will involve a single squad of Grey Knights supporting an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor, or a local force of planetary law enforcement, military forces or Imperial Guard. For the most serious daemonic incursions, several squads of Grey Knights numbering usually about 20 Astartes are collected around the presence of a senior Captain, or even a Grand Master. In these circumstances, Tactical Squads will attempt to establish a beachhead in the Chaos-tainted area, before the Terminators and senior Astartes teleport down to the surface and engage the primary daemon, banishing it back to the Immaterium.

The very presence of Grey Knights upon the field of battle is painful to daemons and other Warp entities. The Grey Knights' gestalt psychic purity and powers are combined through a squad's Justicar into the Aegis, a psychic "choir" that is amplified by the presence of additional squads "singing" in tandem. These normally inaudible sonorous chants of detestation act as a weapon that repels the daemonic and makes it hard for these entities to maintain a presence in the physical universe. The presence of Telekines in Grey Knights squads enhances the potency of the Aegis: by raising psychic shields, the Telekines allow their Battle-Brothers to advance on targets with relative impunity. This means that Grey Knights gain immense advantages against Chaotic opposition, but the high expense to the Imperium of creating even a single Grey Knight leads to its own tactical problems -- for all their power, Grey Knights will always be badly outnumbered and must focus upon the fast and lethal application of force. A byproduct of the use of the Aegis is the absence of any warcry for the Chapter. Grey Knights attack in seeming silence, and take care of their objective with remarkable economy of both action and communication.

A Grey Knights force also contains a high proportion of troops who can teleport through the Warp into battle, a high-risk maneuver which can turn the tide of combat if deployed well. Teleportation may also require complicated battle-related arrangement and positioning and depending on the mission, can involve large number of squads teleporting in sync.

Squad Types:
Grey Knights Terminator Squad - Grey Knight Terminator Squads are the mainstay of the Chapter. Heavily-armoured warriors armed with Storm Bolters and a variety of Nemesis Force Weapons, these formidable warriors are always at the forefront of any Grey Knights attack. These are also the first weapons a Battle-Brother must master when he completes his initial training, learning to move in the bulk of Terminator Armour with speed and grace, while wielding his Nemesis Force Weapon like an extension of his arm. That the standard troops of the Grey Knights utilise the finest weapons and armour of the Imperium is a testament to their elite status and the perilous nature of the foes they face. In battle Terminators excel in shock assaults and cracking open enemy defences, their armour proof against most attacks while their complement of heavy weapons proves deadly at close range.

Grey Knights Strike Squad - Strike Squads often form the vanguard of a Grey Knights' strike force. Strike Squads are used to capture vital locations and key objectives, deployed via fixed teleporter to ensure a swift seizure of isolated or inaccessible locations. Once in place, a Strike Squad can lay down a punishing stream of Storm Bolter and Psycannon fire in support of the main assault.

Grey Knights Interceptor Squad - Interceptor Squads carry personal teleporters -- backpack-sized devices that allow the squad to teleport site-to-site, without the massive arrays of machinery employed by conventional devices. Grey Knights equipped with personal teleporters can react to battlefield circumstances on the fly and cover huge straight-line distances by "shunting" themselves through Warp space. Of all the warriors in service to the Imperium, only Grey Knights could hope to utilise such technology.

Grey Knights Purgation Squad - Purgation Squads are the Grey Knights' foremost means of delivering punishing firepower. Each squad carries not one, but up to four of the Chapter's heavy weapons. In aspect, a Purgation Squad appears little different to the Devastator Squads employed by more conventional Space Marine Chapters. In doctrine, however, the two are markedly different. The weaponry wielded by a Purgation Squad is twice as deadly, a hundred times rarer and ten thousand times more valuable than the more commonplace armaments carried by Space Marine Devastators. Devastators will normally advance behind the main assault, seeking out suitable locations from which to unleash covering fire; Purgation Squads are ever required to keep pace with the main attack, all the while picking out suitable targets for their weaponry.

Grey Knights Purifier - The Purifiers are an order apart from other Grey Knights, distanced from their Battle-Brothers by their nature and tradition. The Purifiers epitomise the Chapter's sanctity of purpose. Purifiers recruit only from those amongst their Battle-Brothers whose souls are considered to be utterly incorruptible and resistant to the temptations of the Warp -- even by the exacting standards of the Grey Knights. So careful is the selection that there are seldom more than a few score Purifiers.

Grey Knights Paladin - Paladins are Grey Knights who are warriors without peer. If a Grey Knight wishes to prove himself worthy of a place amongst the Paladins, bravery and skill are not enough -- he must complete eight quests to establish his character and cause. Given the perilous nature of these quests, it is little wonder that only the boldest Knights become Paladins. From the moment of his elevation, each Paladin is bound in service not only to his Chapter, but also to one of the Grand Masters for whom he will act as bodyguard, champion and advisor. Henceforth, his place upon the battlefield will be wherever the fighting is thickest and the peril greatest.

Chapter Ranks:
Grey Knights Supreme Grand Master - This is the highest rank that it is possible for a Grey Knight to attain within the Chapter. This venerable rank is equivalent to a Chapter Master of other Space Marine Chapters. Also referred to as the Chapter Lord, the Supreme Grand Master has complete authority over the rest of the Chapter. However, a Grey Knight can only be appointed as the Supreme Grand Master with the unanimous consent of every other Grand Master on the Chapter Council, thus ensuring that an unsuitable candidate does not attain dominion over the Chapter.

Grey Knights Grand Master - The second highest rank attainable by a Grey Knight, a Grand Master is -- by virtue of his esteemed rank -- a member of the Inner Conclave of the Inquisition and the Chapter Council that governs the Grey Knights. By ancient tradition, there are eight Grand Masters of the Chapter. Each is the spiritual heir of one of the eight Founding Astartes of the Chapter during the Horus Heresy who are now recognised in Chapter tradition as the first Grand Masters. A master daemonslayer, a Grand Master always wears Terminator Armour and wields a force weapon in combat, and is also a powerful Psyker. Few, if any, Daemons have been able to stand against a Grand Master of the Grey Knights and survive. The death of such a powerful defender of the Emperor's will is always mourned by the Grey Knights and the Ordo Malleus -- though no common citizen of the Imperium will ever know of him. Due to the amount of experience, and enemy kills, needed to become such a warrior, Grand Masters are typically ancient, millennia old, Space Marines.

Grey Knights Captain - A Grey Knights Brother-Captain is a senior officer of the Grey Knights Chapter. They stand amongst the Chapter's foremost warriors, and are second only in rank and battle-prowess to the Chapter's Grand Masters. They have direct command and authority over one of the Chapter's Brotherhoods, making them equivalent to a standard Space Marine Captain of Codex Astartes-compliant Chapters. In matters of strategy and planning, these Brother-Captains answer to no-one, not even to the Grand Masters themselves. The heavy burden of command over a Grey Knights Brotherhood is one of control of nearly unmatched power. A Captain of the Grey Knights is above such things as corruption by the power that they command in battle, for their souls are hardened against the promises and blandishments proffered by the daemons of Chaos.

Grey Knights Terminator - A Grey Knight Terminator is a superlative warrior whose status as an elite amongst the elite form the heart of the Grey Knights' fighting forces. These warriors pursue the endless war against the daemons of Chaos, armoured in superior suits of Tactical Dreadnought Armour, facing the vile horrors of the Warp, always outnumbered by the baying foe. In addition to possessing more powerful armour, they also use their psychic powers actively as opposed to passively in combat. They wield the special weapons only found within the Armouries of the Grey Knights -- Incinerators and Psycannons (although they use wrist-mounted variants rather than the standard two-handed version) -- as their standard Power Armour-wearing Battle-Brothers. A Terminator's primary armament is a Nemesis Force Weapon of some kind, selected from the Chapter's Armoury according to the skills and preferences of its wielder. As there is no doctrinal restriction on the types and numbers of weapons carried, it is rare for two Terminator Squads to bear exactly the same weapons combination. Some prefer the crushing force of a Nemesis Daemon Hammer, others the flurry of attacks granted by a matched pair of Nemesis Falchions.

Grey Knights Justicar - Justicars are the officers who lead the latest recruits to the Grey Knights -- although it should be noted that such recruits may already have been fighting the Emperor's foes for up to a century. Holding this command is the first step on the path for a Grey Knight to become a Grand Master of the Chapter. Justicars also lead Grey Knight Terminator Squads, although such officers are usually referred to as a "Brother-Captain" rather than Justicar. Justicars are the equivalent of a standard Sergeant of Codex Astartes-compliant Chapters.

Grey Knights Battle-Brother - The standard Grey Knight. Equipped with the famed suit of Aegis Armour, the standard armament of a Grey Knight also includes a wrist-mounted Storm Bolter of perfect craftsmanship and a Nemesis Force Weapon. Each weapon is unique to its owner, having been attuned to his particular psychic signal. They can take the form of a Halberd, Sword, Axe, Hammer, Mace, Maul, Scythe or even a Morning Star. Newly accepted Battle-Brothers will be inducted into fresh squads led by a Justicar, eventually developing their abilities in leadership, weaponry, psychic ability and armed/unarmed combat. Upon demonstration of above average ability in one of these areas they take their place in either the Assault Teleport, Heavy Purgation squads or become Justicars themselves to lead new batches of recruits.
Specialist Ranks
Grey Knights Apothecary - Few Battle-Brothers are as important to the Chapter's future as an Apothecary. It is his task to tend to fallen Battle-Brothers, healing them with his Narthecium, or reclaiming the Progenoid organs -- and the precious gene-seed within -- with his reductor should the wounds be too severe. Without Apothecaries, the Grey Knights' genetic heritage would be lost amid the ruin of battle, and the Chapter would cease to exist within a matter of decades. Thus do the Apothecaries receive the foremost guardians the Chapter can provide. On those occasions in which one of the Grey Knights' Apothecaries takes to the battlefield, his protection will be given over to a squad of Paladins.

Grey Knights Brotherhood Champion - A specialist rank, a Brotherhood Champion holds foremost responsibility for the martial training of new recruits, but on the battlefield, his chief duty is to act as bodyguard to his Brother-Captain. This deadly warrior has forsaken all other forms of combat to become a master of the blade. They will willingly sacrifice themselves if necessary, but this ultimate sacrifice is rare, however, as few foes are skilled enough to defeat a Champion in combat.

Grey Knights Chaplain - Grey Knights Chaplains fulfill the same function as Chaplains in other Space Marine Chapters, albeit on a much higher level, administering to the spiritual needs of the Chapter's Battle-Brothers whom must face and fight the horrors of the Warp. These individuals are rare indeed as the Chapter has precious few of them. Yet, thanks to their vigilance in their duties, not one Grey Knight has fallen to Chaos.

Grey Knights Librarian - Chapter Librarians are Grey Knights who have proven to possess a strength of mind far greater than that of their fellows and are able to wield their psychic abilities freely. These formidable Librarians possess a will of iron. They must, for the sorceries they wield are far more powerful than those of their Battle-Brothers. They are privy to secrets that even the rest of the Chapter is unaware of -- secrets that they are never to divulge.

Grey Knights Prognosticator - A Prognosticar is a powerful, highly specialised Astartes psyker who serves within the Grey Knights Chapter and who is particularly sensitive to fluctuations in the Immaterium. The Prognosticars read psychic tremors to predict the location and severity of forthcoming daemonic incursions. Based on the information they are able to gather from tremors within the Warp, they can predict a daemonic incursion before it happens.

Grey Knights Techmarine - Techmarines are warrior-smiths of the highest calibre, responsible for the creation and repair of all the equipment employed by the Grey Knights. Techmarines are forever apart from their Battle-Brothers, for long years of training on Mars inculcate an entirely new set of traditions and rituals upon them. Many of these traditions and rituals stand in direct contradiction to the aims and goals of the Chapter. So it is that a Techmarine is called upon to balance these two opposed sides of his nature on a daily basis: to serve the goals and ideals of his Chapter, but according to the traditions of the Adeptus Mechanicus.

Chapter Wargear:

As the Grey Knights are an elite Space Marine Chapter engaged in fighting Daemonic infestation, they have access to specialised equipment not available to other Chapters. Ancient pacts with the Adeptus Mechanicus guarantee the most technologically advanced weaponry will be available to the Chapter. Highly unorthodox pacts with Xenos races have resulted in the availability and use of alien technology by the Chapter's warriors. Among these powerful and arcane items is the Psycannon, a powerful heavy weapon, armed with ritually inscribed silver and blessed "bolts" which are capable of damaging Daemonkin far more than the standard Bolter. Another heavy weapon used by this Chapter is a sanctified Incinerator which utilises Promethium which is mixed with sacred oils and then ritually blessed to give it an even greater effect on the daemons that it is used upon. Grey Knights may also utilise standard Space Marine weapons or equipment, although this is much rarer. In addition, Ordo Malleus Inquisitors and Grey Knight Hero units obtain powerful equipment designed to weaken the resolve and skill of Warp-spawned foes. This equipment can range from simple Storm Bolters to the powerful Psycannon or relics such as the Grimoire of True Names, and even a legendary Daemonhammer. Finally, all Grey Knights use Trecenti code, an encrypted language known only to themselves, which is often applied in battle cant.

Nemesis Force Weapons

The most distinctive weapon of the Grey Knights is the Nemesis Force Weapon, most commonly the Nemesis Force Sword and its variants. Finely tuned to the wielder's mind, it is a perfect weapon to use against daemons and other denizens of the Warp. Nemesis Force Weapons are sanctified Force Weapons, usually taking the form of a sword, halberd or spear. Sometimes a rare Nemesis Hammer or Nemesis Mace will appear, though Nemesis Weapons can take the form of any close combat melee weapon. Each Nemesis Weapon is consecrated and anointed with sacred oils, psychically-charged, and inscribed with religious scripts that are anathema to daemons. The first Nemesis Force Weapons had Storm Bolters built into the shaft of the weapon, but newer models separated the ranged weaponry from the melee blade. It is said that the secret lore required to create Nemesis Force Weapons was first developed by the Emperor Himself before the Unification Wars began, and that this knowledge was one of the gifts He gave to the Grey Knights when the Chapter was founded.

Like all Force Weapons available to the psychic warriors of the Imperium, the power of the weapon itself directly corresponds to the psychic talent of the wielder. As the Grey Knights are some of the greatest psykers in the galaxy, Nemesis Force Weapons prove to be truly devastating in their hands. Because of this quality, the entire Chapter is able to wield these weapons, and every member is a hero in his own right. However, due to the inexperience of younger recruits, the Nemesis Force Weapons delegated to lower ranks will be weaker in terms of strength than their higher-ranked counterparts. This makes a weapon effectively "evolve" as the bearer progresses through the ranks, his psychic powers intensify and he slowly masters the weapon. In the hands of a Grand Master, these Force Weapons are some of the strongest in the galaxy, as a Grey Knight Grand Master is more than capable of beating a Daemon Prince or a Carnifex with a single cut.

Known variants of Nemesis Force Weapons used by the Grey Knights Chapter are:

Nemesis Force Halberds - As ancient in design and purpose as the Grey Knights themselves, Nemesis Force Halberds are finely-crafted polearms with long, curved blades and sturdy hafts. A Grey Knight can easily use such a weapon one-handed in short deadly chops. However, the weapon becomes even more dangerous should he wield it two-handed.

Nemesis Daemon Hammers - The most common Nemesis Force Weapon to be used by non-Grey Knights, the Nemesis Daemon Hammer is often used by high-ranking Inquisitors of the Ordo Malleus. It combines the crushing power of the Daemon Hammer with the arcane construction of the Nemesis Force Weapon to craft a deadly bane of all things daemonic.

Nemesis Doomfist - A variant of the massive Power Fists found on Dreadnoughts, the Nemesis Doomfist is a massive weapon easily able to crush a man in its grip.
Nemesis Doomfists are only found as part of the Dreadknight battle suit.

Nemesis Falchions - Always used in a pair, Nemesis Falchions can be carried by a Grey Knight with a Storm Bolter thanks to the Storm Bolter's wrist mounting. The falchions contain monofilament circuitry that greatly enhance the speed at which they can be brought to bear.

Nemesis Force Swords - A lighter version of the Force Halberd, a Force Sword can take many forms. Force Swords are crafted using arcane magicks and complex scientific formulae and incorporate a power field that is enhanced by the psychic strength of its wielder like all Nemesis Force Weapons. Its balanced grips and nearly indestructible construction makes it the perfect weapon for parrying the attacks of even the most powerful daemonic foe.

Nemesis Greatsword - Found only on the Dreadknight battle suit, the Nemesis Greatsword is a massive blade of silver and iron so large that not even an Adeptus Astartes in Power Armour can lift it. Despite its immense size, it is perfectly balanced in the hands of a Dreadknight, and is a powerful tool against even a Greater Daemon.

Nemesis Warding Staves - Of the many weapons forged in the Grey Knights' fortress-monastery's subterranean foundries, few require the same complexity and care in their crafting as a Nemesis Warding Stave. Like any Nemesis-breed weapon, its inbuilt power matrix is a shielded, inert core awaiting psychic activation, and just like the more traditional blades, its functions can only be activated by the thoughts of the warrior it has been built for. And there the similarities end. Every stave bears a headpiece of punishingly rare purity -- a small handful topped by the armoured skulls of Imperial saints, or Imperial Sanctioned Psykers of great majesty. Some are topped with something that is rarer still -- the skull of a Grey Knights Justicar or some other Chapter hero, haloed by consecrated gold. Veined by mercury-threaded circuitry, ceramite plating will preserve the relic for centuries to come.

Ranged weapons:
Like other Space Marine Chapters, the Grey Knights favour Bolter weapons. Their brutal damage and potent armour penetration make them ideal assault weapons -- not to mention the demoralising effect on the enemy that seeing a comrade torn apart by a .75 calibre bolt round may have. Grey Knights also employ a number of special ranged weapons such as Incinerators and Psycannons, all of which are designed for maximum effectiveness against daemons, Warp-entities and psykers:

Astartes Storm Bolters - Grey Knight Bolter weapons function in much the same way as standard Astartes Bolter weapons, albeit they are of a larger design and more robust manufacture. The advantages they gain from their size and superior ammunition quality is included in their profile. These weapons are common to the Grey Knights and always mounted on the wrist so that each Astartes might have a free hand to wield their Nemesis Force Weapon two-handed. Essentially incorporating two Bolters side-by-side, these weapons are often issued with Psybolt Ammunition.

Astartes Incinerator - Incinerators are actually Heavy Flamers that use a psychically impregnated form of Promethium that burns hotter and more fiercely and is particularly damaging to daemons.

Astartes Psilencer - The Psilencer does not fire traditional ammunition. Rather, it focuses and amplifies the psychic might of its wielder into an amplified energy pulse that is released as a beam of unstoppable force. These arcane weapons harness the psychic potential of the user, who must unleash a bolt of psychic force into the containment core of the device. This burst of energy is then amplified and directed by the crystals in the weapon. It is unknown how the Psilencer came to become part of the Grey Knights' arsenal. The technology is surly of xenos origin, for it is unlike almost anything else that can be found in the armouries of the Imperium. It is not known whether the Psilencer was constructed from stolen technology or technology given freely. The Grey Knights remain silent on this matter.

Astartes Psycannon - An ancient weapon whose manufacturing process has long been lost to the Imperium, the Psycannon was specially designed for the Grey Knights. Psycannons always use Psybolt ammunition and incorporate special anti-gravitic suspensors which reduce their weight and make them easier to fire on the move.

Aegis Armour-The iconic symbol of the Space Marine, Power Armour is among the finest protections a warrior of the Imperium can ever hope to wear. The unique suits of Aegis Armour and Aegis Terminator Armour worn by the Grey Knights are incredibly well-crafted; anointed and inscribed with prayers and wards, ritually consecrated and psychically-charged. Working in tandem with the Grey Knights' formidable psychic powers, the Aegis warding within the armour protects the wearer from psychic attack unleashed by the effects of the Immaterium and the daemons it spawns, using the wearer's own psychic power. The armour's ritual blessings and psychic resonance also serve to confound the psychic perception of any enemy, resulting in an effect called the Shrouding. As well as its psychic properties, the armour itself incorporates a Storm Bolter weapon that is similar in function in much the same way as a regular Storm Bolter, albeit with a larger design and more robust manufacture. These weapons are common to the Grey Knights and often mounted on the wrist so that they might have a free hand to wield their nemesis Force Weapons two-handed. Essentially incorporating two Bolters side-by-side, these weapons are often issued with psychic force-touched ammunition known as Psybolt Ammunition. When combined with the skill of the Grey Knights' themselves, this lethal weapon can be used with equal effectiveness in both ranged and melee combat.

Common Wargear
The following is a list of the panoply of wargear commonly worn by members of the Grey Knights:

Crusader Helm - Grey Knights use older patterns of helms -- known as Crusader Helms -- for both their Aegis Power and Terminator Armour, giving their squads a distinctive appearance when placed alongside other Adeptus Astartes.

Nemesis Force Weapons - Every Grey Knights Terminator carries a force blade attuned to his psychic will. The ritual to dedicate these weapons is long and arduous and so it falls to the Battle-Brother to preserve and honour his weapon in combat. After years of battle a Grey Knight's force weapon will retain a piece of his psyche imprinted upon its blade that will live on long after its wielder has fallen.

Armour Etchings - A Grey Knight's armour is often an ancient relic drawn from the Chapter's armouries and has been worn by many warriors before him. Sometimes their names or deeds will be etched upon the plates and edges of the armour, a preserved memory of their lost glory.

Purity Seals - When a Grey Knights Battle-Brother dons his armour its seals are blessed in complex and ancient rituals to preserve their integrity and keep the warrior safe from attacks both mundane and mystical. When a Battle-Brother returns to Titan it is a measure of his skill in battle and strength of will should these seals remain unbroken.

Oath Shield - Battle-Brothers display their personal heraldry upon their shields, the simple designs displaying their deeds and glories. As a Grey Knight advances in rank he might add to his shield to reflect his elevated standing within the Chapter.

Storm Bolter - Grey Knight Terminator armour incorporates a wrist-mounted Storm Bolter, an ancient pattern of that weapon that allows them to wield their halberd unimpeded.

The Codicium Aeternum
This dread tome contains the Grey Knights and Ordo Malleus' knowledge on many of the daemons the organisations have faced and defeated in the long millennia of their existence. In the tome's madness-stained pages reside knowledge and calculations on where and when various daemons will manifest again and the means by which they can be defeated.

The Liber Daemonica
A copy of this arcane book, the Liber Daemonica, its contents drawn from material taken from the Librarium Daemonica on Titan along with the ancient battle rites of the Grey Knights Chapter, is carried into battle by every single Grey Knight, in a compartment in his armour's chest plate. The Liber Daemonica is an enduring symbol of a Grey Knight's devotion to his mission, and contains the cardinal tenets of anti-daemonic lore culled from the dark knowledge caged within the Sanctum Sanctorum's walls. The books themselves are also potent psychic talismans in their own right, with pages illuminated in silver and bound to a spine carved from the thigh bone of a martyred saint of the Imperial Cult. The book is also represented in the Grey Knights' iconography, on the chest plate and pauldron of both their Power Armour and Tactical Dreadnought Armour. It is a symbol of the greatest weapon of Mankind against the Forces of Chaos -- an unshakable faith in the Emperor of Mankind.

Psychic Abilities of the Grey Knights

The Grey Knights have many abilities that standard Space Marines lack. These powers are psychic in nature and work on a gestalt principle much like that of the Orks in which the more Grey Knights that are present in one location, the more powerful their psychic abilities manifest. Beside these powers, the Grey Knights are highly-skilled close combat fighters. Most Grey Knights who are masters of melee combat are able to win against even the most seemingly impossible of odds. Unlike Space Marine Librarians or other psykers, their power is deemed free of the taint of the Warp and they are the only psykers allowed, for instance, in a Black Templars Chapter Crusade army.

All Grey Knights possess a degree of psychic ability and are highly-accomplished psykers, their abilities further developed and enhanced by their years of training on Titan. While only a handful of Grey Knights Battle-Brothers ever achieve the levels of power commanded by the Chapter's Librarians, they are all capable of manifesting certain powers and abilities, especially in the company of other Grey Knights where they can combine their gifts to create great effects and more devastating psychic attacks. However, those who prove to have a strength of mind far greater than that of their fellows will go on to join the ranks of the Chapter's Librarians.

Each Grey Knight is trained to channel his mental energies into protective wards and an array of battle-sorceries. The mightiest Grey Knights of all can banish daemons with but a touch, conjure psychic defences to protect their allies and unleash the destructive power of the Warp itself upon their foes. The Grey Knights' selection of psychic powers has been formed over a millennia of combat against the worst monsters the galaxy has to offer. While these powers are most commonly used by Grey Knights Librarians, it is not unheard of for an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor to learn these abilities or an Astra Militarum Primaris Psyker to train in one of these rare Disciplines. The psychic powers of the Daemonhunter are not subtle -- they are weapons of war against the most terrible foes of the Emperor of Mankind:

The Canticle of Absolution - This ancient rite is used by the Grey Knights to banish Daemons and purify locations where they have laired; it is also known as the Six-Hundred-and-Sixty-Six Secret Words.

Dark Excommunication - The Grey Knight weaves an enchantment that severs a Daemon's connection to its dark master, one of the Chaos Gods, causing it to dissolve into the Empyrean.

Holocaust - Units of Grey Knights Terminators are able to make use of the Holocaust psychic power as a whole. A group of Grey Knights can harness their collective psychic powers to manifest this ability as long as the entire group remains focused on the manifestation. If successful, a Grey Knights Terminator can incinerate opponents at close range using this power. It is a manifestation of the hate the Grey Knights feel for the daemonic, and is completely capable of burning a Daemon's physical body to ash. This power is especially terrifying because whatever is destroyed by the Holocaust power dies in the Warp as well, its spirit extinguished like a candle. It can burn the souls of mortals to nothing and can banish Daemons as if they were but a bad dream. This power is a lesser version of the extraordinary final burst of psychic power used by the Emperor of Mankind Himself to snuff out the soul of Horus in the Warp at the end of the Horus Heresy during the final battle on Horus' Battle Barge, the Vengeful Spirit.

Might of Titan - Summoning up the power of the Chapter's ancestors and calling on the sacred genetic heritage which all Battle-Brothers possess, the Grey Knight Librarian is able to harden muscles and boost the strength of those allies in close proximity to him.

Mind Blades - The Grey Knight imbues the blades and other melee weapons of his allies with unerring accuracy and the ability to seek out even the smallest of chinks in their foes' armour, helping his friends land devastating blows to quickly despatch their enemies.

Nemesis Hammerhand - When summoning this ability, a Grey Knight Librarian is able to put the strength of his mind behind the blows of his fists or weapons, striking fiercely enough to wound even the toughest foes.

Quicksilver - Quickened by the Grey Knights Librarian's uncanny mind, his fellow Grey Knights' reflexes are increased to an uncanny speed and swiftness.
The Shrouding - Through prayer and the combined gestalt psychic power of the Grey Knights, they are able to blind their enemies to their location through their sheer faith in the Emperor and the power from the Warp this faith can draw. This protects them from ranged attacks and enhances their stealth. The Shrouding extends out around the Grey Knight in a 20 meter radius and makes those within it hazy and indistinct when viewed from without whilst not restricting the vision of those within it.
Smite - Lethal bolts of lightning leap from the Grey Knight Librarian's fingertips, tearing his enemies apart in a barrage of psychic energy.

The Summoning - The Grey Knight Librarian is able to reach out through the Immaterium and call upon his allies, drawing them across the intervening distance in the blink of an eye. The Grey Knight can use this power on a number of allies, though he must have met each one personally and must know them by name so that he can recognise their presence in the Warp across space and time. When he invokes this power he "calls" to these chosen allies and they are instantly aware that he is summoning them. If they choose to answer the call they are instantly transported through the Warp to his side.

Warp Quake - The Grey Knight causes the Warp to tremor, causing denizens of the Empyrean to lose their hold on reality and any device or technology that uses its power for guidance to fail.

Daemonology (Sanctic) Discipline

Banishment (Primaris Power) - The psyker bends his will to dissolving the bonds that tether the daemonic to the mortal plane, casting them back into the Warp.
Gate of Infinity - The psyker punches a corridor through the roiling Immaterium, allowing him to cross great distances in the blink of an eye.

Hammerhand - Focusing the raging power of their minds, Grey Knights and other psykers trained in this skill can augment the already prodigious might of themselves and their Battle-Brothers. Even unarmed, such warriors can crush flesh and bone -- given blade or hammer there is little limit to what they can slay.

Sanctuary - Chanting words of warding, the psyker creates a zone of light and psychic turbulence around him that can both protect him from physical harm as well as repel daemonic creatures and other threats of the Warp. This barrier extends out around the Librarian or psyker in a 10-metre-radius and impedes all those who attempt to cross. The barrier does not impede a Grey Knight's movement in any way.

Purge Soul - The psyker draws upon every ounce of willpower he possesses to purge the evil of his foes' souls, scouring every trace of corruption even if it destroys them in the process.

Cleansing Flame - The psyker harnesses the very fire in his soul, creating a wall of white-hot psychic flame that blasts forth and purges his foes from the battlefield.

Vortex of Doom - The psyker rends the material realm asunder, tearing a rift between realspace and the howling madness of the Warp, condemning his foes to total oblivion.

Deamonhunters

The Grey Knights are anathema to Daemons, their very presence raw and painful to the creatures of the Warp. No other warriors of the Emperor are so adept at fighting Daemons, and each Battle-Brother is expertly trained in the many methods of banishing and destroying these deadly yet ephemeral foes. There are many ways to banish a Daemon, almost as many as there are Daemons themselves. So it is that the Grey Knights possess a myriad means for vanquishing the denizens of the Warp, though not every method works on every Daemon, or even twice on the same creature. The Chapter is therefore always adapting to combat the ever-changing face of their foe. It is a constant war of escalation that has been waged since the inception of the Chapter and before, when the Emperor first began unravelling the secrets of the Warp. For every weapon and tactic the Grey Knights develop and employ, the Daemons counter with Warp-sorcery and trickery.

True Names
Chief amongst the Grey Knights' strategies concerning the vanquishing of a Daemon is obtaining knowledge of the beast's true name. Knowledge of a Daemon's true name grants great power, which is why many Daemons adopt misleading pseudonyms or titles and seldom use their true names save in their most secretive of dealings. In the hands of a psyker or sorcerer, a true name can be invoked to bind or even banish a Daemon, regardless of its power. Ordinarily, these complex incantations take long solar hours, or even days. Each word must be carefully enunciated and each gesture precise, lest the sorcerer become corrupted by the magicks of the Warp. Invoking a true name is a daemonic pact of sorts -- albeit one in which the Daemon is at a severe disadvantage.

For a Grey Knight, however, a true name is a weapon as reliable and immediate as the Storm Bolter borne upon his left gauntlet. Even the lowliest Grey Knight can invoke a true name with practice, disorienting and weakening his foe, and leaving the beast open for a killing strike from a Nemesis Force Blade or a well-placed bolt round. In the hands of an accomplished veteran of the Chapter, a true name becomes even more deadly, able to destroy the Daemon's physical form and cast it back into the Warp, leaving only a lingering sulphurous stench and ectoplasmic residue. To banish a Daemon in this manner is the closest that the Grey Knights can come to a lasting victory -- a Daemon bodily slain will return to the mortal realm far sooner than one banished body and soul.

Alas, if true names are a Grey Knight's surest weapon against the Daemon, they are also the hardest of all to acquire. As with all things daemonic, a true name is born of the Warp, and its reflection in the minds and tongues of mortal men is as shifting and mutable as the beast to whom it relates. So it is that in the candlelit chambers of the Grey Knights' Augurium, a veritable army of ebon-cowled scribes toil in shadow, endlessly sifting through the visions reported by the Chapter's Prognosticars, searching for clues to the ever-changing true names. It is a long and dangerous process, for no scribe can ever be trusted with more than a fragment of a true name, lest he become corrupted by the raw power it contains and threaten the very Chapter he seeks to serve. Thus, each scintilla of lore is inscribed onto a blessed scroll in sigils of the scribe's own blood -- mere ink cannot cage such knowledge. Each is then presented for collation and interpretation by one of the Chapter's senior Librarians and, in turn, bound into one of the blessed grimoires within the Citadel of Titan's Sanctum Sanctorum.

Words of Banishment
Daemons are beings of the Immaterium, and are made up of the very stuff of Chaos. This makes them creatures of nightmare, rage and fear, crafted from the base emotions and thoughts of Mankind. When fighting such a foe, strength of will and faith are as deadly as blades and bolt rounds, flesh tearing and ichor spillings with but a word of power. A Grey Knight will learn these words by heart and use them in battle to weaken or destroy daemonic foes, chanting them as he fires hammering shots from his storm bolter or cleaves apart his enemies with his Nemesis Force Halberd. The words are key to the most complex rituals of the Grey Knights, woven into their prayers and their rites of exorcism to increase their potency. There are 666 known words of banishment, each one a closely guarded secret by the Chapter and learned at great cost. Most men that look upon a word of banishment will lose their minds, its eye-searing symmetry and terrible definition breaking all but the strongest of wills. Even a Grey Knight Battle-Brother must temper his spirit before he learns even the most basic of these words. To date, only a single Grey Knight, the first Supreme Grand Master Janus, has ever learnt all 666 words of banishment, the weight of this knowledge almost too much for even the most accomplished Battle-Brothers to bear.

Just like the Warp, the words of banishment are always in flux, each one changing and mutating. The Grey Knights Librarians and Prognosticars must be ever vigilant for subtle variations within the words of banishment while they search for the true names of Daemons. The creatures of the Warp and even the Dark Gods themselves are constantly altering, as is the nature of the Immaterium, so that a word that once held power inevitably changes or loses its meaning entirely. An invocation against daemonic enemies that could once enslave or bind is therefore robbed of its power. However, such is the fickle nature of Chaos that for every Daemon that unravels a word of banishment, another is creating more for its own amusement; and so the endless war continues.

Tesseract Labyrinths
Not all weapons the Grey Knights use to defeat Daemons are human in origin. Over millennia of war and strife, the Chapter has scoured the galaxy for secrets to use against the Dark Gods, some of them deriving from alien technology and ancient xenos empires. Humanity is not the only race to have suffered at the hands of Daemonkind; countless races and worlds were wiped from history by daemonic incursions long before Mankind even stepped out into the void. In the dead remains of alien cities or the dust-swept plains of remote planets, the Ordo Malleus has recovered many artefacts that now rest in the vaults on Titan. Equally, elements of the Inquisition have even made deals with living xenos races, trading technology and aid in return for their knowledge of the Warp and its inhabitants. One such temporary alliance with the Necrons has yielded the Tesseract Labyrinths: strange objects crafted with heretical science by cunning alien hands. Each one is a cube, roughly the size of a Space Marine's fist, covered in a precise geometric web of circuitry. The Tesseract Labyrinths possess the ability not only to trap Warp creatures but also to contain them within the esoteric energy field of its zero-point reactor. The power of the Daemon is then contained by its own essence; the more it fights against the Tesseract, the stronger the bonds of its prison become. However, luring a Daemon into a Tesseract Labyrinth is no easy task, as most Warp creatures will choose to abandon their mortal forms and return to the Immaterium before they can be bound to the alien devices. To date only a handful of "inhabited" Tesseracts are held in the vaults of Titan, each one the culmination of a great battle or epic campaign in which the Grey Knights were triumphant.

So begins...

Once again the planet of Terra was in danger. The forces of the Shadow Legion has once again made itself known, invading another hapless city on the planet that one nation has sworn to defend. One of the Shadow Legions main enemies that they know all too well...

The Imperium of Man, more specifically one of the many organizations had already come to engage the Shadow Legion. The secret Order of the Imperium, known by few. The Grey Knights, the elites of the Space Marines. Their purpose to eliminate the spawns of Chaos, and now with the Shadow Legion entering the picture, they were considered daemonkind and corrupt. Their mission now extended to them.

Like bolts of lighting they struck down, 20 armored figures appeared cladded in their Aegis Armor, incredibly well-crafted; anointed and inscribed with prayers and wards, ritually consecrated and psychically-charged. Working in tandem with the Grey Knights' formidable psychic powers, the Aegis warding within the armour would protect the wearer from psychic attack unleashed by the effects of the Immaterium. Using the wearer's own psychic power. The armour's ritual blessings and psychic resonance also serve to confound the psychic perception of any enemy, resulting in an effect called the Shrouding. Their presence was like a haze to many minions of the Shadow Legion, however their own presence was a bane on the Shadow Legions minions around them.

The very presence of Grey Knights upon the field of battle is painful to the creatures around them. The Grey Knights' gestalt psychic purity and powers are combined through their squad's Justicar into the Aegis, a psychic "choir" that is amplified by the presence of additional squads "singing" in tandem. These normally inaudible sonorous chants of detestation act as a weapon that began to repel the Shadow Legion. The presence of Telekines in Grey Knights squads enhances the potency of the Aegis: by raising psychic shields, the Telekines allow their Battle-Brothers to advance on targets with relative impunity. Of course they knew they would not remain undetected forever.

The group, 17 of which were designated as Strike Squad members led by two Justicars and they were all under command of a Senior Captain. Their mission went as followed, clear their landing point of hostiles to ensure the veterans could come in with minimal resistance.

The squad would aim arm-mounted storm bolters at their opposition. Unlike standard Imperium Bolters they fired blessed silver at their foes dealing far more damage than any bolt gun, alongside their storm Bolters they could also fire with their side arms, bolt pistols at their opposition. In their other hand were Nemisis-force weapons. These weapons with the users Psychic Might turned these already deadly blessed blades into lethal weapon for purging the Shadow Legion. From Nemisis-force halberd to swords. The Grey Knights would begin to carve a path to eliminate hostile forces.

Of course the Grey Knights were not the only ones aware, the Imperial Guard had already detected the assault and were already sending support. Valkyrie transports with Marauder Bombers began to fly at top speeds to Ridgecrest, with escorts of Thunderbolt fighters armed with auto cannons and las-cannons.

On the grounds Mechanized infantry of Imperial Guardsman and armored transports including sentinels began to make their way ahead of the armored spearhead consisting of heavy armor and artillery. From Lemon Russ Battle Tanks, to a Shadowsword to provide heavy fire support against heavy enemy support. From Basilisk Artilery guns already getting into position ready for coordinates to open fire to Hydra anti-aircraft tanks to defend against hostile air support.

The Imperium was responding the way they knew how, crushing the hostile invasion and showing them they messed with the wrong nation.

Nymeth the Shadowling turned towards the presence of the Grey Knights, squinting her pure black eyes as the shrouding made them but a blur to her less-gifted eyes. The rest of the Legion however, reacted as they would to any other threat; attempting to swarm and overwhelm anything they sensed moving. Many of the Simple Shadows and Hounds of the Legion lacked Eyes to begin with, and as their mouths cracked open in screams of agonizing fury they swarmed the Blessed Grey Knights like angry Bees or Fire Ants.

Most Shadows would be completely melted by the very nature of the Armor's Blessings and the Knight's own psychic powers, however those that were melted would eventually reform and continue their rampage along the city. In response to the appearance of the Knights, the Legion would send forth the Screaming Minotaurs.

Image

The screams, more Bestial than anything else, echoed throughout the city, their armor gleaming in the fires set by the Legion thus far and their swords oozing with Corrupting Shadow-y Sludge with which contact would begin to work to negate any Holy Magic and then begin to chew through most anything like acid before finally corrupting anything to the point where it would be unusable. If it fell on a human or otherwise body, that body would almost immediately begin to corrupt, the most fiery, intense, agonizing burning sensation spreading through the body's nervous system as fast as the synapses can fire under the heightened adrenaline most are likely already experiencing.

Each Minotaur would pause briefly, already towering over most Space Marines or at least equaling them in size and strength, their vision clouded by the Shroud of the Grey Knights. Enraged that their targets attempted to hide, the Minotaurs would begin to go berserk, charging and swinging their swords at the closest source of the shrouding that they could sense with their other primitive senses of hearing and smell.

Nymeth the Shadowling herself would begin gathering Darker and Darker Energy to her body, allowing her to clear her mind, and see the threat clearly before her. She didn't have the power to take on the Artillery or anything of that sort, and thus began to fear that she would fail. But the battle had only begun, and if all else failed, her Lord and Master Draco would make an appearance, and decimate his enemies like they were ants beneath his boot-heel.

Anything flying over Ridgecrest would find itself attacked from the ground by mighty Tendrils sprouting at least a hundred meters into the sky in jagged, unpredictable movements before swaying back and forth, reaching out to grab anything they could and tear it apart. They also would serve as a sort of buffer between the City and the Artillery fire, not only protecting the Legion, but in an ironic turn of events, the City as well.

Absent however were the Heavily Armored and Armed Basher Shadows which resembled Roman Legionaries, either Nymeth was saving them for later or did not have command over her own regiment of Bashers. Either way, their absence remarked the casual-ness the Legion was giving this Situation at the moment.

Anyone trying to enter the City would find the wall created by the Watchers and their Cloaks nigh impenetrable. Beady, pure white eyes stared out at the Incoming Guardsman in their vehicles as they approached the town; hundreds of tendrils lurching out from the cloaks to attack the vehicles and guardsmen without mercy. Each tendril as thick as a tree-branch, and as strong as a mighty oak at the least as they curled around whatever they could grab, and began to violently shake, lift, smash, and even tear apart anything in their grasp.

Things were getting interesting.

As the Grey Knights began to clear out the section of the city, the abhorrent screams of the Screaming Minotaurs reached their ears. A mass of corrupted flesh, weapons oozing of taint. The Strike Squad members, aware of how the creatures were simply mindless berserkers began to open fire with their Storm Bolters and Bolt Pistols as the creatures charged forward.

However as the creatures closed the distance the squad holstered Bolt Pistols and held their Nemisis-Force Halberds with both hands. The Squad would return the creatures rage like roar with one of their own, the Senior Captain raised his Nemisis-Force Sword into the air. "We are the Hammer!" He roared as the Grey Knights kept in formation as they charged the Minotaurs, the lumbering behemoths of the Shadow Legion.

Each Grey Knight was like the regular Space Marines they had fought before, despite being large their speed was superhuman. Using their Shrouding as the Minotaurs blind rage to exploit, and with the power of their Psychic powers enhancing their Nemisis-Force weapons, each strike would strike through cutting through the minotaur's flesh and armor while also doing their best to avoid the corrupting substance on the abominations weapons.

Meanwhile outside the City as Imperial Forces began to engage the enemy outside, Artillery sections wasted no time in spotting the enemy from afar. Earthshaker cannons began to shake the ground as massive siege shells, blessed by a priest were used to fire upon the mass of tendrils.

Lemen Russ Battle Tanks, more importantly the Vanquisher pattern of Lemen Russ began to open fire with their heavy Vanquisher cannon. Which of course many of the Imperial weaponry were now blessed to help better combat Chaos and the Shadow Legion. Aircraft in the skies began to scatter as aircraft were being smacked of the skies, turned into flaming wrecks before crashing into the ground. Thunderbolt fighters began to strafe targets of opportunity and Marauder Bombers began to unload payloads of bombs and their las-cannons.

Soon enough Guardsman began to disembark Vehicles as the armored advance was stalled and soon enough the battlefield was lit up with hundreds if not thousands of Las-guns and heavy weapons blazing their way. Tanks and armored vehicles alike were ocassionalt tossed about crashing into the ground. However the Soldiers remained stalwart. Commisar's barked their orders, Ministorum Priests began to chant battle prayers. And Guardsman all roared in rage as they began to fire at the enemy.

Finally, the Shadowsword. Far back behind the lines the engines of this Heavy Tank was shut down as the Volcano Cannon mounted on top aimed for one of the Watchers. This Weapon mounted on this tank was usually mounted of the strongest war machine the Imperium could field, specifically made for taking down massive 'Titan' sized enemies. A the Tech Priest chanted their blessing, the crew made all preparations until the Shadowsword fired the Volcano Cannon to then impact one of the many Watchers.

Of course, Vox Communications picked up a broadcast from the Terra Nova Empire. "Attention, this is the Imperial Guard. We are the 617'th, if you are offering aid then target the Shadow Legion. I repeat, maintain safe distance, don't get dragged lest they corruption claim you. This is an enemy Invasion! Emperor watch over us all!"

The Vikings took a defensive position near the Imperium artillery shifting to assault mode they landed as mech walkers. They dug in and opened up on the shadows with thier massive Gatling guns. They would keep the Shadows off the Imperium cannons or die trying.

The Banshees landed quickly unloading thier troopers before taking to the sky. The Banshees where designed for taking out ground forces using thier speed and cloaking to avoid the enemy attacks as they unleashed thier rockets and missiles into the Shadow Legion ranks.

The TLA troopers took cover where they could providing cover fire for the advancing Imperial Guardsmen and Grey Knights.

Most Banshees of the TLA Would fall under attack the moment they began to try to touch down to land. Stealth Technology or no, they caused a disturbance in the air that Nymeth the Shadowling would be able to detect, and send Shadows and Tendrils towards in order to attempt to kill as many TLA soldiers as possible as well as even drag the Banshee transports down into the Shadowy Abyss of their own Shadows to be converted into even more Shadows for the Legion. Cover would be of little help to any soldiers, as Tendrils and monstrosities of Shadow erupted from the darkness around them, screeching and screaming terrifying screams of agony and fury. Screams that rumbled the marrow of the bones of lesser mortals and filled the nightmares of both adults and children alike.

The Screams of their beloved Comrades and Family Members.

As the Guardsman exited their vehicles, they would be met with a hail of gun-fire from the buildings and from within their own vehicles. Shadow Commandos with rapid-firing Sub-Machine guns firing .500 Magnum rounds at a rate of 400 rounds per minute. The Commandos, twice as large as a regular human, were entirely silent, their movements, their breathing, even their footsteps as they moved from place to place, were completely silent. The only thing able to be heard were the sounds of their Sub-Machine Guns firing off their rounds in short-controlled bursts from always at least three directions at once. Then they would move to a new position and fire from that one as well, keeping up a never-ending, yet also seemingly random hail of fire from almost all directions towards the Imperial Guardsman. Those who perished would of course immediately begin to sink into their own shadows, and become one with the Legion themselves.

Draco himself was not involved directly yet, but he was watching over the battle. As the Grey Knights and the Screaming Minotaurs battled it out near the city center, the regular Shadows and Hounds swarmed the streets and buildings looking for anything they could kill and bring into their folds. Where that be Civilians, TLA soldiers, Guardsman or their counterparts, Pokemon, or even the common Sewer Rat. Nothing was left untouched.

Draco's presence would not be felt, nor would his influence be direct for now. The Dragon knew that if he were to make his presence known that the Emperor would show himself; and they would be drawn into a city-destroying battle that would ultimately do more harm than good for both sides. While Draco did not care of the casualties either side suffered as a result of the battle, he did seek to use Ridgecrest City as a staging-ground for his eventual Conquest of the entire Collenham Mountain Range, and eventually, Terra; destroying the city would be only a set-back.

His commandos however were effecient with their work; and as they never stayed in place for very long; it would be extremely difficult to find them, let alone engage and harm, let alone kill one. And due to their silent nature, they had their own, disturbing sense of intimidation because of the stark contrast to the rest of the Legion in its entirety. If ever cornered or pushed into a close-quarters fight, the Commandos would draw twin Duradaeden swords, swords that when wielded as expertly as they were by the Commandos, could cut through just about anything the Imperium, or anyone for that matter, had at their disposal.

They would prove extremely resilient, capable of losing most of their bodies before either vanishing or quickly regenerating before resuming to fight. Their psychic defenses were also quite high, as their own minds were both shielded by the Darkness present in Draco's essence, and the fact that they knew only one thing: Kill.

Commandos were, before being turned into what they became in the Legion, extraordinary soldiers or fighters; ones that many spoke of in legends or in bar-stories to this very day. The Legendary heroes whose tales of heroism and sacrifice end in suddenly disappearing, or meeting their fate at the hands of another warrior, better than them in almost every way. A stranger that comes from no where, dispatches them, and takes away the body with his Dark Magic. Commandos were "Recruited" by Draco. Personally.

The Imperial Guard forces under assault on all sides did not falter, each knew their duty and they served this duty well. Their duty was to push back the Shadow Legion, at all costs even if it meant their lives. Their duty was to defend Terra, and its people. And they refused to retreat to allow the enemy to claim the city for their devilish schemes.

Imperial Guardsman and Imperial Armor continued to open fire, despite the enemy Shadow Commandos, soon enough Imperial Stromtroopers began to hit the field. Or rather, they made their presence known. With Hot-shot las-guns capable of easily shredding power armor. These elite, and well trained soldiers began to focus of the Shadow Commandos with their own well trained skills.

Lemen Russ tanks continued to fire upon enemy positions, however soon enough more Varients of Lemen Russ Battle tanks entred the picture. Lemen Russ Punisher Tank, armed with the Punisher Gatling Cannon, a large, multi-barrelled ballistic weapon, it is known as one of the fastest-firing slug throwers in the Imperium's arsenal. It began to let rip upon the swarms of the Shadow Legion. With the amount of slugs being fired, the Shadow Legion would find their numbers being shred to ribbons with ease, even the Commandos with their unnatural agility would be hard pressed to survive for more than a second if they were caught in their sights.

Of course, even without the Emperors presence in the field, the souls of the soldiers that fell this day did not go to the Shadow Legion but to the Emperor himself. His presence a security for the soldiers, each one that fell they would go to to his side instead off being damned to the Shadow Legion.

Meanwhile in the centre of the city, as the Strike squad continued to terminate the Minotaurs they had succeded in their mission. "Execute Deep strike brothers. Beachhead is clear." The Senior Captain spoke as the arrival of more Grey Knights came in. The most deadly Marines that Draco's own lover had fault before and suffered injury that still afflicted her this day.

Grey Knight Terminators, all led by a Paladin. One that has survived the greatest trials, to become the greatest warrior in the name of the Emperor and for his brothers of the Grey Knights. Brother Paladin Pravius. Along with a contingent of four Grey Knight Terminators. For almost any army, this small squad could barley pass as reinforcements. However these warriors were veterans of hundreds of battles, possessed grand Psychic might, and with their armor that not even Titans can hope to kill them quickly.

The will of the Emperor made manifest. "To the righteous we bring hope. To the tainted we bring fire! In the name of the Emperor let none survive!" His voice roared across the city. Their presence an even greater pain to nearby servants of the Shadow Legion. Their target, the leader in charge of the invasion.

Of course they did not come alone, Grey Knight Purifiers armed with Nemisis-Force Hammers appeared along with Grey Knight Purgation squads and Interceptors accompanied by a Grey Knight Librarian. However the Paladin leading the Terminators began to make way to the Shadow Legion commander.

The troopers of the TLA where a stubborn and determined group. Outgunned, outnumbered it didn't matter they would fight on to death and beyond if they must. Even as brothers and sisters in arms fell the ever dwindling group of Terrans pushed forward with the Imperium tide.

Though depleted in number the banshee wing fought on there was good reason the Terra Nova command called the all female corps of Banshee pilots crazy bitches. Weaving though enemy fire they continued thier aerial assault.

The Vikings still held thier ground a line of defense in front of the Imperium cannons.

The commander then got a hail on his comm...

"This is Terra Nova Command. Message received. It will take some time to organize a full force but we got you a little gift. Enjoy. Command out."
Image
A few seconds later a Shadow commando no longer had a head. An elite Terra Nova Ghost had arrived the psychic assassin an army to herself. The invisible killer with her high powered gun capable of blowing holes in tanks scored kill after kill rallying the Terrans.

"We are the Sons and Daughters of Terra! Stand fast! Stand strong! Stand together! For Terra!" Came a rallying cry.

"For Terra!" Came a chorus of voices.

The Commando who found his head blown off would crumple into the ground, and the entire regiment of Commandos would suddenly shudder as they collectively learned of a new threat to their existence. After a few seconds the Headless Commando's body would suddenly launch into the air, regrowing his head before landing into a squad of Guardsman, his sub-machine gun roaring out .500 Magnum rounds as fast as it could; the recoil reduced to next to nothing by the strength of the arms holding the gun.

It was until the cloaked person made her presence known with a rallying cry that the Commandos didn't react to her presence otherwise. Each one she felled only getting back up, and becoming harder to shoot as they learned where she liked to aim, and how to protect that area of the body with movements or by moving behind something and thus blocking the line of sight. When the rallying cry was heard, the entirety of the Commando Regiment swiveled on their heels and darted for the source of the noise at inhuman speeds.

Most super soldiers could move at over fifty miles an hour on foot, they made that seem slow. Darting through crowds of soldiers, the TLA Super Soldier would very quickly find her position compromised, and if she did not relocate, she would be over run within seconds, and then systematically hunted down like a dog until she was killed.

As the Commandos took their leave from the regular battle to hunt down the TLA commando-woman, a massive Bolt of Lightning struck the center of town, and the ground rumbled as the sky lit up with fire. The air turned cold and shook before a massive thunder clap was heard, and before the Grey Knights stood another foe:

The Shadow Guard

Tall, strong, Broad Creatures, with skin ranging from Purple to Blue to Black, and even White appeared before the Grey Knights. They bore the Mark of their master: Draco, on the chest-plates of their Drakon-Forged Duradaeden. Females of this species of creature were tall, slender, and extremely beautiful, with supple lips and soft features that would make most human men fawn over them, however they were not here to protect or make friends with men. They were hear to carry out their Master's Orders: Drive out those who dare interfere with the expansion of the Darkness, and see that they will not return.

The Largest Shadow Guard slammed the end of his Raw Duradaeden hammer upon the ground, resting his hands upon the handle as he examined the battlefield before him. A mighty and glorious beard hung from his jaw, massive horns extended back around his head as his broad forehead made him only more imposing; pure white eyes narrowing. A tail lined with Spikes running up the center of the back twitched idly behind him, almost touching the ground with its length. With a grunt, the order was given, and the Shadow Guard went into the battle.

Many of them were Close-Range, Melee fighters, using their own Varients of Magic to boost their own abilities, armor, and weapons to match the Grey Knights in combat one for one. They were reserved in emotion and did not waste any movement; every strike lead to another technique, whether it be a block, dodge, parry, or another strike. One strike from their hammers could collapse buildings with ease, and could cleave and smash through dozens of normal mortal men in a single swing.

From the back, A female Shadow Guard chanted her Magic; Horns alight with mystic energies as the clouds overhead darkened further, and began to rumble with thunder and Lightning. A great Bolt of Lightning struck her Staff, the Crystal in the top glowing madly with White and Purple Light.

Lowering her Staff, her eyes flashed brightly and she finished her chant. Bolts of Lightning came crashing down upon the Artillery and Support Vehicles of the Imperial Guard as well as the TLA. These bolts, being magically charged, made a normal bolt of lightning seem like child's play. Each bolt caused an explosion equivalent to that of a 2000 pound bomb as well as creating a fire that would spread quickly. On top of that, electronics would likely begin to short-circuit or fry out as she drew any and all Electric power into her own body in order to channel it into her magic. Approaching her in any way, be it physical or through Projectiles, would prove to be nigh impossible, as lightning raced in arcs around her body forming a sort of barrier within which she would remain safe.

The majority of the heavy combat between the Shadow Guard and the Grey Knights would inevitably come down to who was the more experienced, and therefore who was the better fighter, as at the moment the Shadow Guard would be able to match nearly everything the Grey Knights could do in one way or another.

The Grey Knights would soon encounter a new enemy, it would appear that they were sending some of their best creatures to try and stop their advance. An order was not needed to be said for the Grey Knight Terminators and the Paladin, With Psycannon and Storm Bolters at the ready, these five elite warriors aimed ahead as they were faced with their new foe.

Blessed Bolts were fired at the The Shadow Guard, a slow but purposeful march to close in in melee combat to tear them asunder with their Nemisis-Force weaponry. Their Halberds were ready. For the Psycannon, Psybolt ammunition was loaded into the weapon, silver-tipped, psychically charged shells that when fired, each bolt becomes imbued with a portion of a Grey Knight's innate psychic power, causing it to glow with an eerie blue light, and strike home with significantly greater force than an ordinary round of its type.

Of course the ammunition of the Storm Bolters were also the same for the Terminators. Their mind ready to resist any sort of mental attack, their Aegis Terminator Armor capable of resisting getting crushed by the largest war machines in the Imperium with little more than a scratch. They were ready to bring death upon their enemy, on the Emperors name they would defend this city and cleanse every last creature. Even if they have to resort in its destruction if they must be forced.

The Many Grey Knights in the area, cleansing the last of the Lesser Fiends began to march with the Veterans, these warriors all ready to bring death upon their enemy. Hammers, Swords, Psychic powers, Even warding barriers and Purity seals. Their combined might became a massive psychic choir. Many of these warriors had seen many battles, many wars. Each one were considered Hero's in the Imperium. They knew no fear, nor did they know of defeat. Each Warrior did not waste any uneccecary motion as well. With each warrior that clashed, their power and psychic might clashed through their own body.

For the Imperial Guard forces, more Guardsman continued to fall, More armored vehicles continued to fall but each soldier continued to fight with even more ferocity. The Vehicles that would suffer any sort of system failure, onboard Tech Priests began to pray to the Machine spirit. To strengthen its protection and deny the witch. The effect would be less damnable, especially for aircraft in the air but their efficiency was lowered.

Of course, soon enough the events taking place gathered the attention of the Imperial Fleet in orbit. Without wasting time, orbital lasers bombarded the Shadow Legion forces outside the city delivering much needed orbital firepower to incinerate whatever was caught under their wrath. For now, they planned to take back the city in one piece.

The Ghost had not uttered a single word and even if she had been the one making the rally call she would have long been gone as she moved every few shots to keep her position unknown.
The Shadow commandos would only open themselves up for attack as they foolishly rushed towards what they thought was the Ghost as the TLA forces where playing support to the Imperium the Shadow commandos would have to make their way though the bulk of the imperial guard to even get to the TLA forces.
This reckless move plus the fact that they came in mass opened them up to the rocket troopers of the TLA who would fire thier Hellfire Rockets into the Shadow commandos. These weapons on contact with do two things... One blow the commandos to bits and two set fire to the bits preventing any kind of regeneration.
The Ghost would also switch to Hellfire Rounds which upon hitting her target would make them burst into flames and like the rocket version would prevent any regeneration.
The mages within the trooper ranks would unleash spells of fire and acid upon the Shadow commandos for the same effects as the Hellfire weapons.

The Terra Nova may be just human but they had many tricks up thier sleeves and where trained to adapt to even the most hellish of situations.

Upon finding nothing the Shadow Commando's resumed their onslaught of the TLA and the Guardsman. Each Commando lost would still resume fighting, the Shadows smothering out fires and then regenerating regardless. As usual, each Commando became harder to hit and thus harm, or kill, with each regeneration. TLA Wizards became Top Priority, Tendrils of Shadow reaching out from their own Shadows to harass them while the Commandos moved in to finish them off with their sub-machine guns or blades.

Sensing a cloaked enemy, one of the Shadow Guard females in the back line by the center slammed her staff upon the ground, a pulse of energy expanding outwards before she turned to the techno-mancer and nodded, pointing to the TLA Shadow, sending out another pulse of Magic. This pulse would likely reveal the locations of any other hidden enemies of the Shadow Legion. The Techno-mancer chanted a spell, and that which kept each cloaked person cloaked would more than likely short out, and reveal them to the Legion, which in turn would immediately pounce with droves of Hounds.

The Shadow Guard fighting with the Grey Knights would eventually bolster themselves to the point where the advance of the Grey Knights was stopped. Each party was dead-locked and a smile stretched across the Shadow Guard-member's faces; they were enjoying this opportunity to finally fight worthy opponents! Their weapons began to glow Purple with Magic, this Magic increasing the power of each strike by causing explosions to occur each time the weapons struck a target in order to cause more damage, and begin to try and push back the Grey Knights.

From the sky descended orbs of pure Shadow, the Black and Purple Obs would prove to be immaterial; pure Magic and thus unable to be affected by normal physical means of assault used by both the TLA and Guardsman. From these orbs were deployed more and more Droves of Legion Soldiers, as well as even more Screaming Minotaurs, which with their agonizing fury, would begin to carve through the enemies who dared stand against the Shadow Legion's annexation of Ridgecrest. From these orbs also would be more Arcs of Lightning from the Female Shadow Guard; each one still as strong as a 2000 pound bomb as they struck home on Imperial and TLA forces, the explosions causing craters and sending out shock waves.

Finally the leader of the Shadow Guard spoke, his voice booming over the chaos of battle:

"Imperial Guardsman and Grey Knights, and TLA Combatants! Hear me! You face the Glorious Shadow Legion and the Impenetrable Shadow Guard! I give you these choices: Fight and die with Honor, Join us, and become part of the Legion! Or surrender and be slaughtered like animals when we catch you. You may say these are hardly choices, and you are correct. For our Lord Draco is not one for Mercy. We are here to expand his empire, and you will NOT be able to stop us!

He hefted his Massive Hammer into the Air, chanting a Battle-Chant that increased the speed, power, and Durability of all in the Legion and Shadow Guard. Totems appeared around his body, representing each Blessing he bestowed upon his Allies, as well as one providing him with a protective barrier so that he would not be interrupted in his Chanting; his body glowing with an unearthly purple as the ground around him shook and rubble began to lift from the ground.

The Grey Knights would be at a standstill against the enemy as they began to try to push them back, as the Shadow Guards weapons began to glow purple, the Grey Knights weapon would gloew blue as they channeled their psychic might into each clash. Desite their bladed weapons not causing any splash damage, their own blades with their psychic might would begin to chip away at the enemies weapons.

Their Protective psychic barrier protected them from the explosive damage, and their Aegis Power Armor ensured that they gave no ground to their enemy. As the Grey Knights continued to battle, they noted the unholy chanting and the increase of power in the Shadow Guard. Guardsman in the front lines of course noted increasing enemy reinforcements which Orbital fire began to vaporize entire hordes, they continued to hold their ground even as more Guardsman were blown up by the magical lighting, Tanks hit would note plenty of damage but continued their fight even if most of their tank was reduced to rubble.

Of course the Shadow Legion was not the only one with supportive abilities. The Grey Knight Librarian nearby all his brothers as they fought began to chant holy prayers channeling the height of his psychic mind. "We are the Might of Titan! We bring destruction to the enemies of the Emperor! We are the edge of the Emperors sword! We do not fear no man or creature or demon! We are the Grey Knights!" The Space Marine spoke as the Grey Knights Power and Movements improved drastically.

With The Might of Titan, summoning up the power of the Chapter's ancestors and calling on the sacred genetic heritage which all Battle-Brothers possess, the Grey Knight Librarian began to harden muscles and boost the strength of those allies in close proximity to him. Along with this he casted Minblades, The Grey Knight imbued the blades and other melee weapons of his allies with unerring accuracy and the ability to seek out even the smallest of chinks in their foes' armour, any small weakness the enemy had would be exploited in full force. Finally the Librarian cast Quicksilver, Quickened by the Grey Knights Librarian's uncanny mind, his fellow Grey Knights' reflexes are increased to an uncanny speed and swiftness.

With reflexes to already gauge an enemy formation, to block bullets fired upon them, and strong enough to tear open tanks. The Entire Grey Knight collective gathered together began to push back in force against the Shadow Guard. Blows would be lethal and quick, their defenses improved greated to block and counter the Shadow Guard. They may have buffed up but the Grey Knights began to fight with even greater ferocity.

In the Center of the fighting the Grey Knight Paladin alongside Purifiers and Terminators where gathered in the thick of the enemy. With his Nemisis-Force Halberd and his great Psychic potential. His Strikes easily capable of destroying Greater Demons in one blow would fell even the elite Shadow Guard with ease. Shattering both weapon and armor if needed. "We do not fear the demon! We will purge this city of these vile ilk in the name of the Emperor brothers! Face the Emperors wrath!" Pravius roared as the Grey Knights pressed the attack.

  1. The profile in question (Angel of Terra) needs to detail (even minimally if anything) the powers in which this character possesses, especially if they are to be used in a combative sense or to affect multiple characters in such an event as this. In addition to this, remember for larger scenes: number of posts must typically equal number of players to impact the location.

"Enough!" Shouted a voice from the sky as a girl with six wings appeared in the air. "To long has your shadow tainted the land. I am the Angel of Terra! I am the tears and blood of those you have mindlessly slain! I am judgement and retribution! And I will wipe you from my Holy Land!"

Great waves of pure holy light came down from the angel it's power healing and protecting the warriors of the TLA and Imperium. But any Shadows caught in the waves would feel the fury of godlike flame ripping them to the very core.

A new and powerful protector was born and her crusade was just beginning...

"Such Corruption... Such Darkness. It must be put to an end."

Nymeth the Shadowling, the Legion, and the Shadow Guard all shuddered collectively. Something big was coming. Something powerful enough to shake fear into the battle-hardened, and already terrifying enemy of the Imperium. Even as the annoyance known as the Angel of Terra used her magic to burn the Legion, fighting continued, albeit suddenly the Grey Knights and Guardsman began to make headway, pushing the Legion back quickly.

Shadow Commandos lept into the Alleyways they'd come from, the Shadow Guard would launch devastating kicks in an effort to knock back the Grey Knights long enough to turn back towards their portal and leave, and the Shadow Legion simply began to die. Slowly it became a mass of unending Black Sludge, undulating and smoldering all at the same time while still retaining a liquid, gelatinous form that raced for the Alleys and Storm-Drains.

"And an end will come."

The very air and ground rumbled and shook as a great roar echoed across the land; the Roar of a Dragon. Not of Draco, but of something much more powerful. One not too keen on the presence of the Shadow Legion. A beam of Golden Light arced down from the sky, landing in the dead-center of the Shadow Legion Forces, vaporizing them on contact. Irral, the First Son, had arrived.

As the beam of Golden Light faded, Irral stood fully in his Armor, the Twelve Foot-Tall Human form of the First Dragon born from the Light herself lowering his gaze upon the Shadows of the Legion. His hand slowly raised to the Lance upon his back, drawing it and settling into a stance.

All was still.

Before a Shadow could Screech and attack, the Lance pierced its mouth, spearing straight through it and into the chest of another Shadow. Within seconds Irral was dog-piled by the Shadows, but all he did was open a hand, a ball of Holy Draconian Light expanding from it, blasting the Shadows away from his body and vaporizing them as he then twirled his Lance around his body quickly, creating a light breeze likely felt by many in the area from how quickly he spun it. With it he sliced through every minion the Shadow Legion sent at him, Minotaurs were cast aside, Shadows torn asunder, Commandos ended entirely, and Watchers dispersed. Nymeth the Shadowling herself narrowly escaped decapitation, fading into the Shadow of her cloak, leaving Irral standing alone as the Shadow Legion continued to squelch and attempt to leave the area.

Slowly, the Dragon of Corrupted Light turned, facing the TLA and Imperium; looking upon them with a discerning gaze. He paid no mind to the Angel, her power actually helping him, holding back the inherent Corruption within his own body and Magic. "I commend you all for your efforts against the Legion of Shadows...... but I'm afraid you are too late; if they are here, then Draco has claimed this land as his own...." his Lance was in a relaxed, but ready position within his right hand as his head turned to gaze over the area, watching the remaining Shadows try to attack from the flanks of Guardsman Positions. "I recommend you all leave now.... so I may Cleanse this land of its Corruption." he lifted his Left Hand, the fingers curled into a Claw as an orb of Golden Light Swirled in his palm, corrupted by the faintest tinge of Purple. Retribution; Irral's most powerful combative Spell. He would find a way to use it to cleanse an area of Darkness; this would prove to be an excellent testing ground.

As the Shadow Legion withdrew from the area, Imperial Guard forces hunkered down slowly approached forward or held defensive positions for those that advanced forward. Heavy weapons were being reloaded, fresh energy packs were being inserted into las-guns, and armor held their tactical positions. They slowly approached the city with steady hands ready to fire if required.

However the Grey Knights were another story. They were outraged that a unknown being dares to step in and make them leave. This was their task for the Emperor, they would be the ones to purge the area. And they would never allow a xeno to dare say to leave the area.

The Paladin, Pravius marched forward. "Cease your tongue xeno! We will not leave this area. We will be the ones to purify this area in the Emperors name! We do not require your aid, we do not require the aid of the false deity that has also appeared! We are the defenders of humanity and you are not needed. We have this area under our control. We will purify this area without your aid xeno!" The Paladin stated before turning to the Grey Knights gathered. They decided to work quickly before the Imperial Guard appeared. They were already channeling their psychic might, ready to commence purification of this area and the land.

The Terra Nova forces regrouped those few of the recon force left as well as what was left of the Vikings and Banshees. The Ghost took command of the ragged group as they worked to heal wounded and repair damaged vehicles. There was victory but at great cost.

The Angel of Terra sighed upon hearing the words of the Imperium Leader. "Can you not see we are all on the same side here?" She asked.

"Don't waste your breath Angel they are too blinded by their self righteousness to listen to truth. What we came here for is gone now and we have no desire to stay here and help the Imperium start another war." Spoke the Ghost

The Ghost turned to her men "Let's get the hell out of here shall we?"

As the Terra Nova troops made ready to leave the Angel of Terra went towards the Imperium " Can't you see that your bigotry and arrogance turns the very people you claim to protect against you?"

The blade of Irral's Lance was at the throat of the Paladin within the blink of an eye, the orb of Magic growing larger, the Corrupted Purple of his magic more prominent as his rage was stirred by the man's words. Slowly tilting the blade upwards, Irral hoped gaze upon the entirety of the man's face, using the blade to direct the man's head to either side. Of course this action would draw retaliatory action from the Grey Knights, or at least a set-up action as they took aim at him for daring to lash out at their leader. Ignoring this, Irral stepped forwards, his face only scant feet away from that of the Paladin's.

"Humans.... your kind has always been brash and Arrogant; why the All-Mother insists upon protecting your kind I will not know. But I do not have to follow her rules if I so choose...." Golden eyes glowed beneath the visor of his helmet, peering into the eyes of the human at the end of his Lance, seeming to stare into his soul. "If humans knew what was good for them, they would hold their tongues; Now then. I give you this choice: Leave and live. Tell your Emperor your efforts were made to look like child's-play and suffer the humiliation of that knowledge. Or attack me, and be cleansed, yourselves." Irral raised the ball of energy in his hand. Any sudden hostile movements would not end well for the Grey Knights. This Dragon did not fear them; even Draco would consider them a threat.

Irral did not.

The Dragon of Corrupted Light was eerily still; almost statuesque with how still he was, the blade of his Lance mere millimeters away from the throat of the Paladin known as Pravius. "Think carefully of your next Action, Human. Draco and his forces are mere children and insects to me; consider what makes you."

Pravin glared at the dragon as it dared raise his lance to him. It did not help that the false diety was taking to them as well. "I do not fear you xeno. Nor do my brothers fear you as well. You dare train your weapon against me?...You Xenos are all the same, arrogence blinds you all." His gaze turned to the angel in the skies. "We do not need to listen to the likes of you angel. Your kind has done enough. You all sit back and degrade humanity and mortals. We are the ones who fight for the people, not you. So silence your tongue!"

The Paladins gaze soon return to Irral. "I have faced threats that has said the same and destroyed them...We will not withdraw from this area, we are not afraid of you. We will purge you all the same like the Shadow Legion rabble, as with all that oppose the Imperium. We would have slain you already but our Emperor has forbidden us to kill damnable Xenos unless you prove to be a threat...by all means keep your lance raised...I will be glad to end your kind..." The Paladin glared as he stared right at Irral.

The Grey Knights in the area of course were ready to strike in the blink of an eye, with their Nemisis-Force weapons and their psychic might. They had no qualms either about killing Irral.

The Terra Nova had nothing more to say as they loaded aboard thier transports and began to leave. They would not be caught up in the shit storm that was brewing.

The Angel of Terra just shook her head " Dig your own grave then Imperium" she said shaking her head again she would fade from view though her voice spoke one last thing to Irral...
" I thank you for your aid...."

"Such predictability. Such folly. When will they ever learn?" Irral spoke in Draconian, an exasperated, annoyed sigh in his voice. All was still once more, then suddenly his hand expanded, and the sphere of Magic expanded with it, forming a bubble around Irral and the Grey Knights slowly. After expanding to a ten meter radius, Irral's hand clenched into a fist, and everything within the bubble, including himself, would be brutally and mercilessly hammered by a series of Holy Draconian Light Bolts which would explode on contact. They moved incredibly fast, so fast that even Irral couldn't dodge them if he tried; so he didn't. He took each and every bolt that hit him, while simultaneously flourishing his Lance, in an effort to behead the paladin, whose throat was mere millimeters away from his Lance's Blade. The Light Array lasted for a good ten seconds, and when it was done, everything that hadn't been destroyed was covered in pure Gold. Thus was the fun part of Draconian Light Magic; it either sounded like harps, or made everything Pure Gold.

Irral's usually did neither nowadays.

Dropping to the ground in a low stance, Irral's left hand, his Magic hand, was held in a fist with his index and Ring fingers extended as if to shush someone, while his Lance Hand held the Lance out to the side, arm slightly bent so that it could be moved quickly. Of course, Irral was counting on his over-confident enemy to have survived or dodged his Light Array, so he went on the attack immediately. One thing that the Grey Knights would immediately notice, was that Irral, unlike Draco, was not constrained to a limit of how much power he could call upon while in his Human form. He was going all out, all the time.

Irral moved with blinding speed, not even comprehend-able to the average Human Eye, but to these Grey Knights, he was likely a blur, or just slower. Either way, his sheer speed would prove to be a key factor in his battle against the slow-moving battle-armor of the Imperium of Man. He moved first to the closest Grey Knight, appearing briefly in front of him before darting off to the side, to the one farthest away from him, aiming a sweep of the legs with his Lance. His his Draconian Strength, knocking even a mountain to the side would be little issue to him, so one could only imagine what would happen if the shaft of his Lance struck home into the upper leg of the Grey Knight he was assaulting. If his sweep was successful, and the Grey Knight was rendered airborn by his sudden change in incline, Irral would raise his Lance, aiming to stab straight through the chest of the Knight, his Blessed Duradaeden Lance humming with Draconian Blessings of Speed and Strength, allowing it to cut through even the strongest of metals like butter.

If his Stab and Sweep were avoided entirely, Irral's assault would not end; sensing the build up of Psychic Powers, he would spin in a circle, his body Igniting in a Corrupted Phoenix Cloak of Golden Fire tainted with Purple, boosting his already formidable defenses by a wide margin. Once the circle was complete he'd aim a strike towards the Knight's chest with his Magic hand, a Light Array bubble expanding once more from the palm of his hand, this time aiming to contain that Grey Knight, and bombard him once more with Bolts of Holy Draconian Light. Thanks to the Phoenix Cloak, the bolts would super-charged, and deal five times as much damage. Regardless of the outcome of Irral's Initial Strike, the Phoenix Cloak would be activated, and the Light Array would be racing towards either the first Grey Knight, or the Second, granted his first assault was a success.

The Paladin narrowed his eyes, of course...Of course the xenos would always reject the Emperors mercy when given to them. He would never question why he would declare such a doctrine, but they shall follow it nonetheless. As the lighting began to strike down the Grey Knights still enhanced and defended by their Psychic barriers began to move around to reduce the damage the lightning would do.

Of course the Paladin himself, Pravius contrary to his massive and bulky form almost seemingly reacted in inhuman speeds. Already enhanced by psychic powers, and his already superhuman reaction speeds capable of cutting bullets in mid flight. The massive warrior would move his own Halberd to defend his neck. "Brothers! Purge the xenos filth!" He ordered as Irral began his assault.

The first Grey Knight, presumably a Strike Squad member could see his movments as a rather fast runner. Despite this however his sudden movment appearing in front of a Grey Knight member which was the farthest away would have his leg cleaved right off, power armor torn asunder. Their Aegis Power armor may be able to resist such strong blows, but Terminator armor would be the one to protet him. The warrior was rendered airborne before being impaled.

Of course as the supercharged bolts began to strike once again, the Grey Knight Librarian conjured a Force Barrier to defend against the assault. Of course Storm Bolters began to echo as they opened fire against Irral despite the assault.

Pravius himself roared in anger at his fellow brothers demise and began to open fire with his psy-cannon as he marched forward, barrier currently protecting against the blows.

Narrowing his eyes, Irral set his sights on the Grey Knight Librarian. That would be his next target; his next kill to send a message to the Imperium of Man. That They were not all they boasted to be; that they could still be killed. Turning on the ball of his foot, Irral began to dart straight for the Librarian, most of what was fired at him merely bouncing off his armor; or missing entirely as he zig-zagged his way in a seemingly random path, sometimes even completely stopping before turning directions and moving again. His plan was to turn the fire of the Grey Knights upon themselves, turning them little by little into facing one-another as he moved around the battle-field, and after a while of this redirection, was behind the Grey Knight Librarian, aiming his Lance's blade at the vulnerable neck-plates of the armor, the small gap between the Chest Piece and the Helmet proper being all his blade needed in order to slaughter another.

Assuming his blade hit, the Phoenix Cloak surrounding Irral's body would channel through the shaft of the Lance, engulfing not the armor, but the man within the armor. At first, he would be met with grace and tranquility, an overwhelming sense of joy and ecstasy in all parts of his mind in body. With a twitch of his wrist, however, Irral's Phoenix Cloak turned hostile, and the man would likely begin to feel his insides imploding upon themselves, burning and yet at the same time solidifying into a Golden rock, starting from his lower intestines and working its way up to the brain, spreading through the body similar to the Corruption Draco unleashed. However in a sense, this was the exact opposite of corruption: In Irral's own words, he was "Purifying him to the point where even the Gods would revel in his purity."

In other words: Turning a mass of bone and flesh into a mass of Pure Gold. Polished and shined to perfection.

Once it was done, he would yank his Blade from the penetration point, and sheath his Lance before elegantly back-flipping away, landing in a sort of ceremonial Warrior's Salute, and vanishing in a beam of Light.

If, however, his Strike did not land, and his Lance in stead either hit the Armor itself, or missed, it would continue until stopping, whether that be a chink in the armor or the ground itself, and Irral would use it to lift his own body up off the ground using the strength of his arms alone, and aim a direct knee to the top of the Librarian's head. Normally, and in any other circumstance, the Librarian would more than likely shrug of this hit as a simple pebble hitting his armor. However Irral could control his weight; and thus unleashed the full weight of his Dragon form upon the head of the Grey Knight Librarian. The Weight of an ancient, one-hundred and forty meter tall, three hundred meter long, and sixty-three meter wide Dragon slammed onto the head-plate of the Grey Knight Librarian along the space of a single Knee, with the equivalent focus point of a bowling ball, all aimed at the armored head. This would likely simply smash the skull of the man inside entirely, leaving nothing but a bloody pulp if anything.

If that itself also missed, Irral would continue his furious assault on the Librarian, quickly landing and aiming a leg-sweep with his own legs, again using his weight and momentum to aide his already monstrous strength. After the sweep, Irral would continue to spin, another ball of light gathering in the palm of his right hand as he came out of the spin. His most powerful Current Spell, Retribution, awaited.

The Grey Knights were well disciplined warriors, as Irral began to charge forward trying to get them to accidently fire upon eachother, they of course took caution at firing from range and opted to instead quickly close the distance. Of course as he targeted the Librarian, he himself knew that he would try to go for him. It was simple reasoning, deal with the greater threat first, however he was no easy target to eliminate. Casting quicking upon himself he could see Irral's movments with ease.

With quick movments he easily followed Irral's strike and deftly avoided the blow, next came the follow up. Irrall's lance may have missed its mark however impaling the ground he would use his momentum to lift himself up to try and deliver a knee to his head. Keeping up the pace using the Quickining to track his movments to react along with the psychic buffs still affecting him making him faster. He quickly ducked down to avoid having his helmet and head crushed into a bloddy pulp.

Irral's assult of course continued, as he went for a kick to his legs the Libarian planted his sword between him so the blow would impact the Force Sword, the blow would of course impact but surprisingly not shatter. The weapon had been autuned to his own mind, such was the way of all Force weapons. Its properties was unlike most convintional weaponry. Of course the Librarian knew he was at a disadvantage, and there being plenty of other Grey Knights, Two Strike Squad Members rushed at Irral with Nemisis-Force Halbards prepared to slash at him, prepared to continue the assault if neccecary in case their initial attack failed.

The Paladin of course gathered the Terminators and the group began to channel a massive amount of psychic power to show their enemy the true might of the Emperor. They were preparing to unleash a power that had but the smallest fraction that the Emperor himself possesed, and this psychic powers was named Holocaust.

With a savage Snarl, Irral continued his assault on the Grey Knight Librarian. It would appear quite clear to the Grey Knights that Irral's words were not just simple boasts of power, but facts. Their Psychic attacks, while hitting, did not, and were not phasing the Dragon in the slightest, or at least appeared to do nothing. Quickly turning on his heel, Irral's palms reached out to intercept the two Strike Squad Members who had rushed him; having heard them coming long before they arrived. From his Palms expanded Light-Arrays that would quickly move to attempt to bubble them in and assault them once more with Super-Charged Light Bolts, this time even more powerful than before, with all of them hitting in the front of the armor, where yes, Irral knew no damage would likely be done, but where he knew they could be pushed back.

After his Light Arrays were cast, he turned once more to the Librarian, following his retreat closely, wrenching his Lance from the ground in one swift movement as he followed, twirling the thing incredibly fast, letting it gain momentum and power as it spun rapidly in his skilled hands and around his body. With a flash of his eyes, the Phoenix Cloak burned brighter, and the Dragon's speed boosted again, once more difficult to see while moving as he charged forwards at his prey. Smoke and Dust rose from the ground as he ran, further helping to conceal his approach to the Librarian. Like a Predator hunting its Prey, Irral first circled the Knight, creating a cloud to further obstruct his vision. A series of probing jabs with his Lance would be aimed at the stronger weak-points of the armor; ones that were obvious such as the shoulder joints, knee joints, inner thighs near the groin, and the neck once more. Irral was trying to see the limits of the Armor's range of motion. It wouldn't take long, four attacks at most, two at the least, before Irral darted at the the Librarian from what he surmised would be the Armor's biggest Blind-Spot, behind and below.

The Next thrust of the Dragon's Lance was aimed at a minute gap in the armor near the hip, aiming to bisect the leg and cut it clean off with a single stab. The other leg's knee-joint was assaulted by a ferocious kick with all of Irral's Draconian Weight behind it, one that would shatter a small mountain if it hit home. Once more the Lance would be twirled, gaining momentum, the Phoenix Cloak extending to the Lance itself, boosting its already nigh unstoppable momentum and sharpness as the Dragon of Corrupted Light aimed to swiftly decapitate the Librarian. If successful, Irral would then kick the limp body through the deteriorating cloud of Smoke to land at the feet of the Paladin; blood squelching from the wounds, leg completely deformed beyond recognition from the kick, and of course, head gone. Irral would then take great care in removing the head of the Librarian from its helmet, examining it briefly while holding it in one hand before crushing it effortlessly in his fist, letting it drop once the smoke had cleared enough so that the act of utter battlefield dominance could be seen.

"Do you see now, Child, that the words of a Dragon should never be taken Lightly? I am here to cleanse this world of all who would dare harm it; and I have no qualms about doing the same to those who threaten me or my mission." Irral's body began to shine brilliantly, as if sent from something more holy than the Emperor, more forgiving and more protecting. It was this sight enough that made many humans of the past herald him as their God, or as their Prophet, it was this Light that may even stir the embers of dissent among lesser men of the Imperium. And from there, it was only a wild-fire waiting to rage. "Let this be a lesson to you, who lives in Hubris so typical of Humans. You are not invincible. Your Emperor is not Invincible. Humble yourselves, or be Cleansed as well." Irral's voice echoed; magnified by the shine of his own magnificence in the eyes of Mortal Men, booming across the landscape like the voice of God in Tales of Old, and it was stern. In an instant, it was gone, and so was Irral; leaving the Grey Knights Alone in the City; now controlled by the Shadow Legion despite their efforts. The sounds of clicking and demonic cackles could be heard from the sewers and shadows.

Ridgecrest had fallen, Irral was gone; and the air was still. Draco's Expansion over Terra had begun.
