This shiny new VARIAtech holovision was installed in Gambit's bar courtesy of the company's CSO, Bartleby Jetlz. It is sleek, black and purpose built like the rest of VARIAtech's products, but has a beautiful projection screen and very powerful speakers. The flat screen is almost pencil thin, since most of the machinery and what not is in the back of the wall mounting. It is also shiny and brand new.

The Television begins to raise its own volume to emphasize a rather garish commercial advertising the first annual VARIAtech mecha battle tournament, coming early October...
The Television was rather miffed at Ehngbrek, because he could have just used the remote. Her lighting panel winked in frustration.
The Television hummed softly in the background. A rather loud ad came on announcing an upcoming mech battling tournament sponsored by VARIAtech. Applications would be opening in a week or two.

The Television snaps itself on to the local news channel, displaying a somewhat bewildered and frenzied young reporter ranting about a rather unexpected nuclear detonation in the southern district of Wing City.
The Television continued to babble about the outlandish destruction that had pretty much come out of nowhere. There were speculations to a terrorist attack, but most consults from the arcane university blamed the nuclear blast on celestial interference. One archmage was quoted "When in doubt, it's probably magic."
The Television speculated that early death estimates ranged in the fifty thousand area, but was likely to at least double after authorities addressed the situation and analyzed the total destruction. Emergency response teams had been mobilized and arcane repair staff had been hired to help stop the spreading destruction.
The Television nodded his head to the side, confident that his personal magic shop had probably been decimated by now. He took another drag from his cigarette and flicked it towards the ensuing brawl. Not much point in clean living any more. In fact, the whines and shouts of the little family feud had already worn his temper pretty thin, and he was one second away from vaporizing that simpering little bitch. He turned to Roy with squinty eyes, and took a deep breath.
"Yyyyyeah...I know a place we can go. Do you like dragons?" he asked dully, his world weariness exacerbated by the circumstances.

With that, he raised his finger into the air and pointed at the manic young woman. Chanting in the draconic language he shouted "Tiamat, persvek shio douta ibahalii! Nomeno heinous vishe ghoros ve mrith phlithut!"

The Television reported that the firefighting attempts near the crater sight were going well in spite of the latent radiation that flooded the area. It was assumed that no one within twenty blocks of the epicenter could have possibly survived.
The Television reported that the flames had been pushed back before reaching the spaceport, thus allowing additional rescue efforts to be mobilized. It also told the story of a young boy who had escaped the blast, almost next to the epicenter, due to the interference of an unknown man who had disappeared shortly after.

Reports now raved about a sudden shower of asteroids down on the city, and that authorities were almost certain of divine interference in the evening's events. They also had a pretty good idea of who it was too, but they were legally obligated not to say his name on air.
Regardless, there was a glimmer of good news in the fact that the railguns surrounding the Space port had managed to obliterate most of the asteroids on atmospheric entry, and that evacuation shuttles were still up and running.

The Television snapped to life with an emergency update. It seemed as though one of the evacuee shuttles had been hijacked and had gone off the radar. Several flights of Aschen pilots had been dispatched to locate the shuttle, but it was hard to locate due to the interference from the radiation. Officials suspected it may have to do with many of the recent assaults that had been occurring in the city as of late.
The Television buzzed on about rescue efforts, and how the combined might of both Magical Academies was prepared to fend off another celestial attack.
The Television said that, in light of the recent nuclear attack and asteroid shower, the VARIAtech mech battling tournament would be postponed for next season until such time as Wing City was stable again.

It appears that the northern central part of Wing City was largely spared, allowing the spaceport and entertainment sectors to remain largely intact...

Seeing as how most of the business sector had been annihilated, all interplanetary trade and military pit-stops were to be organized in a temporary trade bazaar set up in the Wing City plaza.
