Tolyl the Unbinder

Lesser of Myrkul's Vein, the weapon of wrath.

0 · 902 views · located in Gonthar Highlands

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by lil_kreen

Description

One of five lesser of Myrkul's Vein that the overbeing has summoned into the multiverse from the Black Storm. Less intricate than itself they represent titanic psychic powers in of themselves and are tasked with projects suitable to their scale or merely raw defense. If free of any immediate tasks Myrkul will deploy them against small ones or they may dispense of interlopers themselves if encountering them. Woe betide the planeswalker that gains notice of this creature much less the ire of Myrkul's Vein whom may send reinforcements. They are capable of using many powers native to their home plane and carry a vested interest in interacting with psykers of the imperium to learn of their skills.

Tolyl is a creature of pure destruction aimed pointedly at the enemies of the Living Emperor and is incapable of reconstructing anything but itself. A capital weapon in every sense Tolyl easily equals an Imperial Cruiser in girth but easily ten more in length. It is also deployed as such a cruiser the individual acknowledging the rights of the imperial hierarchy to lead but not placing itself upon the ruling structure. They each are individuals and prefer to be called by name.

Tolyl is bound to the following schools/disciplines: Necromancy, Evocation, psychoportation, and psychokinesis.
Gender: Neuter
Age: >5500 years

Equipment/Abilities

  • Ferroplasm Sheath with new plasteel superstructure - Their armor was traditionally made of pure ferroplasm carefully vented to allow for emission points on their surface for psychoportive locomotion or warfare. The ferroplasm is capable of easy self-repair from manifested psimass and maintains strength even through repeated deformation which makes it ideal for long-term defense missions the lesser beings of Myrkul's Vein undertake. The new modifications by Myrkul and the Jinhai include an interior skeleton of plasteel that reinforces the ferroplasm layer against kinetic deformation and provides bracing against internal stresses involved against moving quickly through aetheric voids such as the warp. The material generally used was mithril but it is in short supply in this reality. It is also an anchor point for conventional, psi-tech, or arcane hardware which was formerly more vulnerable by requisite anchors to the exterior ferroplasm layer.
  • Recursion damper - This is not a 'shield' as one would think of a void shield making a bounding area projected outside the body. This is a massive psychoportation layer projected inside the psychically reactive armor that when channeled temporarily links random small areas to actually lead to a different section of the armor but spatially oriented in the opposite direction. The energy required to sustain this damper is immense and may result in damage to the external armor as it results in some sections potentially receiving twice as much incoming damage. It can also be added to their cognitive load to protect whole areas atop the interior in sections where armor has suffered a great deal. Thus shifting incoming damage to armor that can still withstand or shuffle off the punishment.
  • Basal Maw - Behind the mouth of a Lesser of Myrkul's Vein is a voice that can be heard in the thin planes that underlie the world. A smaller construction than the voice of the great well contained within Myrkul's Vein this allows the creature to cast arcane and psionic abilities. Within its power both scale and number as long as the lesser of Myrkul's Vein has the energy to power them. While the maw is ponderous and cannot switch between spells rapidly it can indeed cast nearly anything the fabric of reality will support in the plane on which it resides. However unlike titanic well of Myrkul's Vein the lesser overbeings must be tuned to particular schools of thought to function. All abilities can be cast at 20th level but every spell circle cast above the spells minimum it gains four more instances of the spell at the desired level. The lesser of Myrkul's Vein may restrict the spell level or instances if it so chooses. Only Myrkul's Vein may attempt to cast universal spells such as Wish or Limited Wish.
  • Planar Transector - This is a particular variant of psitech built on psychoportation for arbitrary trans-planar travel. It is generally used by the Lesser of Myrkul to access particularly ornerous demiplanes attempting to superimpose upon the black storm to pass their defenses. The lesser of Myrkul may coil to produce a larger interior volume within which a navigator can maintain a link to the tear wake projected by the transection. Externally this appears as a small, visually impenetrable, planar storm moving in erratic paths at trans-luminal velocity within the warp or other transitive planes it passes through. Being in its path is not advised though the lesser of Myrkul is aware of large planar obstructions and can be observed in a sudden non-erratic path around such objects in its local reference frame. The transection envelope is innately compatible with the Gellar Field projected by the imperium owing to an advanced particle envelope stable against traversing interplanar tears while maintaining its bubble of moving reality. Should the Gellar field fail while in transit through the warp it will be relatively intact if declining for an hour or more. While it is possible for daemonic entities to otherwise enter the transection envelope even if the gellar field were to have failed it will not be a healthy enterprise for the deamonkind due to gravity shear at the envelope boundaries. It is extremely difficult to track the path without numerous external references as only some of the reality is expressed inside the transitive planes it approaches. A planar transection may expose its shadow to multiple realities simultaneously and intermittently until reaching its destination in space-time.

So begins...

"EMPEROR CURSE THEM ALL!"

Titus' fist smashed into the cheap fabriwood desk in front of him. The faux-mahogany vinear shattering almost as badly as his little finger. Not that the Lieutenant cared, or even noticed through all the rage. An entire contingent of Astartes, and a blessed Thunderhawk wiped clean off the face of the Materium by an errant xenos vessel. And now of all times!

The Guardsmen proceeded to flip the cheap furniture, watching it splinter against the rock walls of his cave-base. What did it matter, the Tech Priest was probably going to lobotomize him for his failure anyway.

"How the hell am I supposed to evac a fucking island, and save a hero of the Imperium when it's raining thronedamned TAU!" Taking a deep breath, and attempting to compose himself Lt. Titus smoothed out the wrinkles of his greatcoat with his good hand. It was unlike him, or any of the stalwart Maccabians, to succumb to any emotion - let alone anger - like that, but the recent stress of his command had been mounting. The Adeptus Mechanicus had all too recently hijacked their mission, and driven them into the misty vallies. Vox barely worked down here, men went missing, things scratched at the cavern walls all night. It was worse than a Forge World.

Lord Commissar Ciaphas Cain sending out a planet-wide evacuation orders thanks to his vainglorious coup attempt on the mainland was just the last straw.

With grit teeth Titus scooped his now battered Lasgun up from the ground, slung it over his shoulder, and stomped out of his "private abode." A Privage was waiting at the cave mouth, snapping a quick salute, and braved adressing the disgruntled officer.

"Sir Titus! I couldn't help overhearing your...Displeasure.." Titus grunted in response, shooting the man a glare that suggested he speak quickly, or submit himself to a Commissar. "A second Thunderhawk, Josephus' Spear, is primed, and airborne already. The Iron Hands are undaunted."

"Good, and of course they are lad. Those men lose a limb, and take it as a challenge. ETA?"

The Private nodded, jogging to keep up with the Officer who had yet to break his stride. "Fifteen, assuming we don't get another Tau care package, heh."

"Keep the gallows shit to yourself, private." Snapped the Lt. Finally stopping just to turn, and make eye contact. "We just lost ten of the Emperor's finest. Don't cheapen it." Titus had very little use for the small Cadian contingent assigned to the 50th Maccabian. They had the fighting skill, and the know-how to keep up, but not the respect to fit in.

"Y-yes sir..A-about that, actually..." The two resumed their brisk pace, the younger man trailing just behind. With a lot less enthusiasm. "Maybe we haven't."

"If you're about to suggest heresy, don't. Go throw yourself off the nearest cliff instead, and save me the bloody lasround."

"N-no, sir! I was stationed over in Wing City, sir. Met a guy, Otto Hanning, one of the poor sods the Jinhai 'patched up..'"
