Description

Trister Gro'Burag

History

Second son of Orgak Gro'Burag, and well known bounty hunter. Despite his watchful habits he was captured by his own tribe and his arm was ceremonially removed to stop him from dishonoring their tribe with his mercenary work. With the help of modern science a mechanical prosthetic limb was secured where his original limb was. Now stronger, and more prepped than before he had to take a quick trip before he returned to the Mercenary Circuit. He obliterated the tribe he was from. Killing each man, woman, and child he encountered he went from hut to hut until he came to the Great Hall that housed his father and brothers. He burned it with them inside. He returned to Wing City and has resided there ever since.

Description

Standing at 5'11", Trister has the physique of a well trained human, but the muscle-density of an Orc. He is approximately 187 lbs (84.82Kg) without his Right arm attached. With his arm he's about 200 lbs (90.72Kg). His Rifle, and gear add another 20 lbs (9.07Kg) of weight to his person. His skin is the peach of a human's, but with the hardiness of an Orc's. His hair is black, and often slicked back to keep it from being grabbed in a tussle. He wears a brown duster jacket with the right sleeve rolled up to keep it from catching on his mechanical arm that has a custom metal plated collar to protect him from vampiric foes. He has a pistol holstered on both hips, with knee and shin pads on each leg. He wears a black belt with several pouches for ammo and small munitions. It also functions to keep his black pants from falling down. He wears a pair of black sports sunglasses to keep light out of his eyes. They also display a HUD for his weapons and vitals via a wireless uplink in his arm. On his upper body he wears a dark colored vest that is bullet proof and can absorb a good amount of plasma and energy to keep it from damaging him too heavily. Beneath that he wears a ProtoChitin-Class VII Undersuit that can protect him from stab-attacks. His skin, muscles, and bones are also equipped with nano-fiber weaves to strengthen and protect from damage.

Trister's gun barrel got stuck in another bramble-vine, and he cursed as he struggled to pull it free. He grunted as he ripped it free, and stumbled through the underbrush. His boot caught on another vine, and he lost his balance. A red indicator on his HUD bleeped as he fell towards the ground.

He let out a loud grunt and then fell silent as his radar picked up a life-form nearby. He couldn't see it, but the sensors could which meant that it was close. Close enough to have heard him fall. Was it the Warg he'd been sent to kill, or something more ominous like a Hammerhead Toad or a Venomous Ploumuth?

Trister raised his mechanical hand, and shook his head, "I don't really know what you're asking me, but I'm not going to hurt you if that's what you're asking." He said, his HUD quickly scanning for any magical abilities or psionic capabilities in the person he could see.

"Uh, I didn't mean to frighten you." He said, apologizing slightly.

Trister grinned, showing his sharp front teeth. He holstered the pistol he was aiming at her chest with his other hand beneath his coat. He was glad he didn't have to use it, but whatever else was with them might have been another issue had he had to use it.

He shook her hand with his mechanical one, "Trister, it's good to meet you Re-" His glasses bleeped as it detected a magical entity nearby. He drew his pistol, and aimed it from his hip towards the brush that the magical being was detected. Even though his radar was a little inaccurate, he'd still probably be aiming within a few feet of the creature.

Trister, raised an eyebrow, "Hm, your invisible buddy's got a voice on him." He chuckled, holstering the pistol. He kept an eye on the magic man's heat signature for anything that might indicate an attack. He knew better than to turn his back on a wizard.

"I've got to find a warg who's hiding in these parts. I'm being paid a lot of money and I'm not about to give up this kind of cash." He said, shrugging. He knew of three other bounty hunters that were on this case, and he aimed to be the one to cash it in.

The half-orc slipped out the backdoor of a nondescript office building, and stepped into the alleyway. He let out a happy sigh and cleared the bounty on his HUD and watch the money flood his bank account. He'd gotten another one, which only made him more attractive to prospective buyers. He checked his ammo and then slipped his pistol back into one of the holsters.

The sun was out on this lazy day, and a school bus passed by as business men and women alike shuffled down the sidewalk to their workplaces side by side with other denizens of Wing City who're just enjoying the day. He grinned, showing off his Orcish teeth and headed across the crosswalk towards a particularly comfortable looking park bench when he heard it. The explosion rocked the ground he stood on and sent people sprawling. He balanced himself and spun around to see smoke coming from several windows in an office building not too far away.

The Valojelea had drifted north, as chaos engulfed the atmosphere above. They couldn't help their curiosity, bobbling on the wind, glowing in the night, heading towards the smoke trails. Of course they had been originally usurped by a falling fleck of debris. Many more had spotted the falling war. Many more wanted a glimpse.

A couple of them had wound their way into the Wing City Business District. It was quite lovely over here, very interesting. A few had taken up airspace around the Cheri Teahouse, a few more next to the OmniCorp Doors. Still others hovered down the street, descending here and there when the explosion happened. Through the air, a shockwave was sent. It wiggled the jellies where they hovered, and after a moment they began to panic. At this point there were at least fifty whizzing around the heads of passers by, humming gently along with the shocked screams and other reactors.

One valojelea in particular, a younger sort with a bit of fright in him yet, clung to the nearest biospecimen. It just so happened to be the shoulder of a half-orc.

Trister could almost smell the panic in the air as people ran screaming past him, and he turned to flee himself when he noticed something out of the corner of his eye. He stopped and made to grab for whatever was on his shoulder, when a car honked as it careened past him and smashed through the walls of another building.

He dove off the road, and took cover behind a planter as another set of explosions rocked the building nearby. He raised an eyebrow at his HUD as it returned an unknown status as it scanned whatever it was above him.

"Uh, what are you?" He muttered, several bricks clattering across the pavement nearby caused him to seek a little more cover. A desk lamp shattered nearby, and he nestled down under a nearby bench.

The building was beginning to crumble. Most of the valojelea had at this point fleed the scene, a couple were smattered in a vibrant display of goo. A car had caught them on it's way through a store front. In the distance, WCPD sirens could be heard racing to the scene. The FDWC was on it's way too.

On the shoulder of the half-orc, the Valojelea quivered and pulsed with light. It had found safety on this specimen, who could deflect those giant screeching hunks of lethal metal constantly whirring around on the surface of this planet. The valojelea gripped the shoulder closer as the desk lamp shattered, tentacles beginning to emit small zaps of energy. It had no intentions of moving.

A vehicle slammed into the planter, and Trister pulled himself from under the bench and ran headlong through the courtyard past the crumbling building. The fastest way away from the destruction was towards it. He pushed past some photographers snappping shots of the crumbling building. He pressed himself against a flipped over bus, and waited for the rain of bricks to cease.

He looked over at the weird floating jelly-creature, "Hold on little buddy." He said, making a break for it. He ran through a smashed fountain, and quickly slid to a halt as he heard gunfire. This was no accident.

He drew both of his pistols and took cover by a wounded corporate officer. The man gripped the bloody wound on his side and drew some gasping breaths. The half-orc knew that the man wouldn't make it another few minutes.

A TERRACAST Van finished unloading, film crew assembling quickly around a brunette. She stood with her back to the falling building, shoved a hard hat on her head, and waited for the rolling cue.

"This is Winne Rineswurth here, live with Terracast.
I'm here on the scene in the Wing City Business District, where detonations have been reported. Though the initial blast has proven detrimental to the infrastructure of the building, the panic is proving to be far more deadly. Already two cars have collided with store fronts, and seven casualties have been reported. "

The camera panned to show more of the damage, several glowing jellyfish whizzing past. Some citizens weren't panicking. They were snapping pictures. A half orc with a brightly glowing valojelea clinging to it's shoulder raced by in the background, dodging bricks and photographers. Suddenly, gunfire could be heard. The cameraman fumbled as he took off for a run, the voice of Winne Rineswurth heard screaming in the background. When the camera was righted again it showed Winne disheveled crouched next to a dumpster.

"Breaking news ladies and gentlemen, gunfire has been heard on the scene. This is beginning to look like no accident, folks."

Trister muttered a curse or two before he righted himself to see several men in black suits rushing business men and women out of the building bound and gagged. He fired a few energy rounds that wizzed by and hit one of the men in the shoulder. He stumbled and some of the men broke away towards Trister. The half-orc blasted a few times and took down another one of the agents. A round hit his jacket and he felt the shock wave radiate through his vest. "It's getting a little hot in here, buddy." He chuckled, rolling behind a trashcan before sending a few more sizzling bolts towards the agents. They took cover thirty or so feet away and the two sides continued to exchange fire as Trister looked for an easy way to escape. A chunk of building smashed into the road, creating a deep scar.

"Woah, today is a real bad day to have a desk job." He muttered, flinching as a round bounced off of the metal of the can.

Trister stood behind the first row of books, his sunglasses still on inside of the building. He pulled a book entitled, "Pregnancy and You" and pretended to flip through the pages as he looked through the small slit that the book left after it was removed. He had a feeling the old man would be meeting someone here. The people that hired him explicitly said not to harm any innocents and as far as Trister was concerned she was more innocent than Malacath's daughter himself.

He looked up and saw a woman looking at the book he was reading. He checked the cover, "Oh, uh... I'm expecting." He said, his voice grizzled and quiet as to not attract any attention. The woman grinned nervously, "G-good luck." She muttered, backing out view.

He turned his attention back to The Good Doctor Steinman or Stein-Darg. He couldn't really remember, but that didn't matter. The HUD in his glasses displayed his picture and that's all he needed.

The half-orc bounty hunter saw another man enter the library, and instantly pegged him as another merc. Trister, groaned a little and slipped the book back into its spot. He checked the firearm under his coat and checked his ammunition. This doctor was going to turn out to be more of a death-trap than an opportunity if he ended up having to fight this other guy.

Dr. Steinlar had noticed the man watching him through the books, and was wary of others. There had already been an attempt on his life earlier in the week that had ended badly for the hit man, he had a feeling there would be more. "Perhaps... Perhps we should talk about this outside." He said, offering a weak smile and then quickly moving his eyes in the direction of the half-orc. He didn't want Rhea to get hurt.

The half-orc bet that he'd try to keep the girl from getting hurt, maybe if he could take her hostage he'd get whatever that information was and kill the doctor. That was two birds with one stone. He didn't have to get that folder, but if he did the company that hired him would probably pay him handsomely.

Trister took a deep breath, and drew both of his pistols. He grabbed a rolling chair, and planted his right foot on it and pushed off of a bookshelf with his left. As he did so, the doctor slid folder to Rhea and gave a slight nod, "You know what to do. Keep it secret, keep it safe."

Trister exploded from the rows of bookshelves firing at the other mercenary with one pistol while firing in front of him at the two scientists. "Fuck you, asshole!" He roared, sending heated projectiles towards his target and rival merc. The doctor stood quickly, which in his old age was hell on his bad knee but he wouldn't be residing on this plane of existence for much longer. The doctor shouted, "Run! Quickly! He pointed for the nearby exit, and gasped as he felt the projectiles bury themselves in his chest. A few rounds meant for Rhea bounced off of the table, and whistled past her. He let the chair fall on its back and rolled over to the fallen scientist. He flipped the table up on its side to use as cover in case the other merc wasn't hit critically by any of his rounds.

As the Doctor faded he muttered, "Hm... It's a lot colder in here than I r-remember." If the girl hadn't run by this point, Trister wouldn't continue to fire at her. She wasn't his concern.

Trister realized his mistake as he turned to inform the girl that if she ran now he wouldn't have to kill her. "Hurry up and run like the old man t-" The monitor on his glasses quickly registered a large energy fluctuation, and his body soon registered it it sent him sliding across the rug. His jacket was burnt on his side where the ball had connected, and his body armor underneath it was warm enough that the proto-chitin underneath it was registering an energy weapon had connected with his side.

He quickly recovered and hurled himself behind a bookshelf, "Sweet christ, did you just hit me with a small van?!" He shouted, pushing over one of the towering bookcases so that it may land on her. Hopefully, it'd cause her to focus on the bookcase instead of him as he made a break for the large windows nearby. He fired three rounds to crack the glass, and then leaped through it and landed on top of a bus as it passed by.

If she was quick enough to catch a glimpse of him, he'd remove his hat and give her a respectful nod as the bus went into a tunnel and disappeared out of sight with him in tow.

A young man in a thick grey coat ran down the sidewalk in a hurry, and quickly glanced behind him before turning down an alleyway. The half-orc Mercenary had just turned the nearest corner and caught sight of the man fleeing down the alley.

"I've got you now, Professor." He muttered, slowing to a brisk walk as he checked his pistol and scanned for any anomalies. The last scientist he killed wasn't quite as easy a target as he had thought. He turned into the alley, and saw the professor pressed against the back wall of the alley.

"P-p-please, I'll give you the files. Just d-don't kill m-" Trister began stepping forward, and as he did so he fired several times from each of his pistols.

The professor let out a cry of pain, and then silence as he collapsed into a puddle of drain water, and a good deal of his own blood. Trister knelt down next to the now deceased man, and retrieved many of the papers that were on his person. His glasses displayed a blip when it detected the noise of Kenji's footsteps.

"Hm, I should've just shot that professor in the head. There's no way this guy didn't hear that scream."

Trister's glasses slowly dimmed the light from the streetlamp behind Kenji so that he could make out Kenji's face in the darkness of the alleyway. He one hand on his pistol and the other on the documents.

"I'm gonna need you to pretend like you never saw me. Got it?" He said, showing his orcish teeth.

Trister, had a feeling this wasn't as easy as it seemed. He moved warily towards the mouth of the alleyway. He holstered his pistol, but knew that if the man made for a swing with that katana then his metal limb would be able to block it. As long as it was steel and not some sort of vibro-weapon or a similar tech.

As he moved to pass Kenji, he watched the man out of his peripheral vision.
