Alek couldn't help but give a faint smile at the barking officer. If they had met at a bar instead of a worrisome event, they could probably have had a beer or two and swap stories for a while. He seemed to be the kind of person he would have gotten along with.

Not person. They were not humans anymore.

His smile fell quickly. "I see." The man shrugged slightly. Narrowing his eyes, he read the text and nodded. "I think I'll go help on that front then. You know where to find me if you need me for other things." He said gruffly, turning to head out of the castle. He would only slow if Ulrich called for him, although neither had been introduced.

"Ah, zomborgs, alrigh'," Ulrich frowned and narrowed his eyes at the kid.

"You ah... Headed to Verinotte?"

Alright, so the kid didn't look like a military man, at all. That, and Verinotte was low on security he was sure. Either way.

The man turned slightly, his cloak fading into different colors as he did so. His red hues would meet up with Ulrich as he paused to think. "I will be heading that way before I head the Cursed Wood." The name of the woods seemed to be spat from his mouth as he spoke about it.

The man's observation would be right. Alek was not a soldier, or a military man. He worked better alone, as he was a hunter with very little trust for anyone.

"Why?"

"Welp," Ulrich eyeballed the activity as it began to die down. A few soldiers walked past, and more settled into permanent position. Thank freakin' goodness.

"Y'ain't seem like th'type fer battle. Sensible, like, but you ain't no warrier. You a politishun?" He turned to look the kid sideways. "Whatcher name, kid? You a recent er you jus' quiet-lik-WHAT'NTH'NAME O'CREATION D'YOU THINK'ER DOIN- Scuse me, ah?" Ulrich waited just long enough for a name before stomping after a soldier who scurried up the stairs, carrying a prized gargantua relic above his head in triumph. "Y'take care o'tha punk," He spat the order to the three that rose in his rampage, turned on his heel, and settled still as stone back next to the young one.

"Ver'not."

The man narrowed his brows, raising one above the other at the assumption he was a politician. But the idea made him break out in a grin, his white fangs showing in the dim light. He laughed lightly. "Nay. I'm no politician. But I guess looks can be.. Deceiving."

He shrugged slightly. "I am known as Alek." He answered. "And even if I don't look one for battle.. I am an extra pair of hands. Isn't that what counts at times like these?"

He silently watched as the officer went about barking more orders, half amused. No, he couldn't be a soldier. He could think for himself, and military did not take kindly to those who thought. He raised a brow once again as he came to settle back down next to him.

"So you were saying?"

Ulrich decided he liked this kid, even if he wasn't tough and gruff like a vampire ought to be. He had a head on his soldiers, and understood the mechanics of life. They were all pawns, somehow. That's what the military beat into the kid's heads when he was a kid, and Ulrich was apt to carry the message. Even if nobody else agreed with him but Alek.

"Ver'not. I dunno what shit's been doin' all over th'ev'rywhere but sommat's goin' on in that place. Bad security, Taiyou stompin all upindabits. If any o' them zomborgs get at from a dif'ernt angle, we're screwed."

The imposing stone walls surrounding the Castle stood before him, now. Still the figure was little more than an indistinct shadow, half merged with the darkness that pervaded the entire thick. The gate was some distance off to the side, guarded and locked. There was no way in there. It took little time to find footing on one of the taller trees, claws digging into the bark to provide handholds. Deft movements carried him into the branches, higher and higher until the top of the stone wall lay below.

The branch creaked as he cautiously made his way out onto it. At this height, the shadows fell below, and for the first time he took a form that was more than just blackness. A slight young man clad all in black, a cloak that seemed more shadow than cloth draped over his form. Golden eyes pierced through the darkness unhindered. He fastened rope around his perch, taking hold of it before descending.

The Seeker leaped from the branch, air catching his cloak to flutter with the rapid fall. He landed in a crouch on the top of the wall. From there it was a simple matter to abseil down the far side using the rope. He left it hanging there for when he needed to leave. Once more, he joined the shadows, carefully sneaking his way towards the castle itself.

"Well ain't that interestin'," A burly, raggedy, blond man gruffed as he came into the square. Though dominated by a glorious draconic fountain there was something else eye-catching today. It seemed a large vending machine logo'd TORGUE was juttering about. A torque wrench on the side branded it a more useful vending machine than most, in Ulrich's opinion.

Alek had seen better days. The half starved vampire came into the square like a fainting shadow, his color shifting cloak keeping him nearly invisible if he were to stay still. The man's normally golden yellow hues were black with hunger as he continued to starve himself.

He wasn't sure how much longer he would stay sane.

If he was sane.

He watched as the blond man walk into the same square, commenting on something. He barely listened, but followed his eyes to the vending machine that was across the way. The thing was an eyesore.

A woman in a flowing white dress walked through Verinotte Square. Her auburn hair was loose down her shoulders and smart blue eyes studied her surroundings.

Adella had never before been to Verinotte Square, nor did she know that it was a haven for the preternatural and paranormal. Waking up that day she had decided to let her feet guide her where they may. It was a day that she had ignored the ill prophecy from the gypsy woman of her doom.

If it had to come then so be it, but Adella was not going to live in fear of her impending death.

A coin laid on the ground and Adella picked it up with a gentle smile on her fair face. She went to the fountain and tossed it in, her eyes closed and a wish on her lips.

Is it fate that was tempting him? His black hues flicked up to the woman who was by the fountain. So pure, so beautiful. So full of life. A life that she lived precariously on the edge of a village full of monsters that would take it away from her, gladly. Did she not realize where she was? Or did she not feel the natural instinct to flee from this place?

The man felt his fangs lower, but he suppressed the urge. Why must she torment him?! Does she not know the agony she was causing him? The conflict to keep what little humanity he had left or let go and fall completely into the monster Alucard wished him to be?

Slowly the golden hue returned to his black eyes, and he slowly stood. Silently he walked over to the woman, a smile forced upon his pale lips. And all the while, with every step, all he could hear was the beating of her heart.

"Excuse me, miss.." He said, his voice deep. "Are you lost?"

Ulrich frowned as he smelled the rich blood of the woman on her approach. He licked his lips and turned towards the fountain, laying heavy eyes on Alek. What was the fool boy doing? He really didn't want to make another arrest, not out in the open or here like this, because another vampire couldn't control themselves in the open.

However, Ulrich wasn't about to preemptively get involved. Instead he moseyed along to another side of the fountain, watching. He was glad there weren't any zomborgs here. It looked like Reisel had successfully secured the border at the Abandoned Slums. No screams echoed through anywhere, and if humans were casually milling about, well... Good.

Adella's wish was interrupted when a man's basso voice filled her ears. It was alarming and a small tinge of fear traveled over her skin. The woman pushed her hair from her face and looked at the man. The most notable feature of him was the golden color of his eyes.

Her fear melted away and the tension of her muscles died away. She took a step toward him, unafraid. There was something about this man. He was alluring and handsome, beautiful beyond any person that Adella had seen before.

"No," Adella said in her gentle voice. "I am not lost."

Her answer infuriated him even more, however he did not show it on his ageless face. His eyes studied her face calmly, carefully and in silence for a moment. The starved vampire gently touched her face, caressing it gently as one would do a lover. "Then you do know you are in danger here, then? This place.. Is not for someone as yourself to be wondering here alone and unaided.." He murmured quietly. "There are things here that would.. Harm you, willingly and unwillingly. Please, let me escort you out.." He said softly.

He could feel the monster within him push him towards her, to brace the woman against himself and tenderly let his fangs fall into her pretty little neck. To drain the life from her, or to make her his. To punish someone who would so boldly step into a place of death and decay with so much life left within themselves.

It was like a slap in the face to the vampire.

"Wing City ain' safe, 'lest I don' think," Ulrich spoke up from where he was, communicator in hand. He continued to thumb at the device and read the data. Zomborgs, an agent down, but at least the Hollow was safe and the border was fortified. On an off shot he wondered if anyone managed to secure the Pool of Nyx, thumbing the request in and sending it out over communication-space. Someone in the Forces Vankoryth would get the message and check it out. If not...

Sighing Ulrich pulled his thick tendrils of hair back with a stray bit of cord. He eyeballed the tavern and tried not to worry about Alek.

"There is no danger here," Adella said in a dreamy voice. She was drunk from the enthrallment of this mysterious dark man whose touch was so gentle. It had been so easy for her to succumb to the passive charm of the vampire.

"Let me stay?" The woman dressed in white asked in an innocent voice. Her blue eyes fluttered closed and her skin warmed from the man's touch. The pulse in her throat quickened.

She did not know who this man was nor why he was touching her so, but Adella did know that all she craved was for the touch to never stop and for this man's kiss. Adella placed a hand on his chest and looked up at him through the long fringe of her lashes.

Alek looked over to Ulrich for a moment, a mixture of panic and pleading for help from Ulrich as well as a dare for the man to step closer to the pair of them. He would not be able to contain himself much longer. He was truly starved.

"Is there anywhere truly safe then?" He asked, his voice full of the plea for help from Ulrich. And then his attention turned back to the woman before him. "There is danger standing right in front of you, and you don't even realize it.." He muttered softly. He could have sworn his own pulse started to race, although his heart had not beat in months now. It was her own heart beat that he could feel within his dead chest.

The temptation was stronger now, the smell of her blood racing past his nostrils as her heart raced. He could almost see the vein in her throat that pulsed in time with the beating of her heart. His throat ached for the thirst and he found himself leaning closer, brushing his lips against her cheek softly. Suddenly, he stopped himself, trembling and with what was last of his sane thoughts, he whispered to her once more. "If I were you, I would run.. And I would run as fast as you possibly can away from me.." He hissed.

Ulrich eyed Alek, then the tavern, then Alek. Ah, hell. What had the kid gotten himself into? This woman...He tried not to breath. Alluring was a word, but there were racier words he would rather use. The vampires shifted from one foot to the other and cleared his throat.

"Could git sum wine," He emphasized the drink. Around here, there were special brews infused with blood. Perhaps that would help take his mind off of the beautiful creature he had managed to seduce. "Castle's safer'n'ny I s'pose..." Or, you know, not. He took a step towards Tauvyr Tavern all the same. He would be back to experiment with the vending machine. Ulrich gestured at the pretty facade.

"Shall weh?"
