Occupation

A "providence" special agent. Specializing in capture and containment supernatural beings for study. This occupation has prepared her for contact with every known supernatural species in not only sword skill, but in martial arts too. She is very quick in not only her work, but her reflexes and mind work just as fast, arguably faster, than her speed in executing her tasks.

History
Not much is known about her history as she never talks about it. She goes out of her way to make sure it doesn't become a topic of conversation. However, her recent history has her placed in what she calls a 'nowhere town' named Wing City after a government trial to wipe out the Providence Supernatural Defense section. Currently, she is just trying to survive any way she can without getting killed.

Recent interest: Kenji Himura, AKA Battousai the Slasher.

Relationship with said interest:
Umi first met Battousai in Gambit's, remembering he was a near master of Hiten Mitsurugi-ryuu style, she decided she would try to perfect her technique with his help. As it is forbidden to teach Hiten Mitsurugi-ryuu without Master Status, she chose to fight him to learn. Knowing he couldn't resist checking out a dojo that was nearby both the bar and where he was staying, she stopped by the Dojo and waited for him. They had a fast fight that ended with a draw. Umi noticed she was starting to get to him, and she did. Thus why she got to keep her life against Battousai the Slasher.

Umi has currently extended the hand of friendship to him, but she is unsure he will take her offer.

So begins...

Umi's Story

Umi peeked through the window of the bar. She was curious to know if she could get something to eat in there. She hadn't eaten all day and she was starving. Putting out her latest cigarette on the brick wall, she flicked the butt aside. She blew the smoke out of her nose before she bothered to try for the door. Hoisting her sheathed blade up and into a spot on her belt, she pushed the door open. Kaoru, or better known as Umi, scratched her chin. The place definitely smelled like old alcohol and it was rather disgusting.
Umi tried to ignore the smell however as food was far more important to her. There were plenty of tables around, booths and even the bar counter. She opted to sit in one of the booths close to the door. She never knew when she was going to be called out on work. She pulled out another stick and put it behind her ear for the time being as she snatched up one of the menus that was typically left on the table. She scanned it over and ordered whatever sounded the biggest, money wasn't an issue with Providence paying her tab. Whatever the case, she leaned back and sipped away at the Dr. Pepper she had ordered, tucking her arms behind her head eventually in order to relax.

Umi devoured the food she had ordered and was back to lounging happily in the booth she had taken over. She rested her feet up on the table and sighed happily, hooking her ankles together. She reached for her Dr. Pepper and sipped off of it, closing her eyes.

Umi opened her eyes when she heard another person walk into the bar. The dark haired girl lowered her feet from the table and peered around the corner of her booth at the door. Her dark hair fell in her face as she looked to the male with the large writing instrument. "What the heck...?" she muttered at the pencil.

Umi stared at the male, staying silent. The agent wasn't exactly sure what to do with him, about him or anything. She brushed her hand through her black bangs to get her hair from her face. She was in the booth closest to the door, so needless to say, she was completely confused.

Umi blinked. "You jumped into my booth," she commented. She sighed a little and took a sip from her Dr. Pepper. The japanese girl scratched her chin with a shake of her head. "Bizarre people," she muttered inwardly.

Umi tilted her head a little. "Um, either you're deranged or you need to switch to Decaf," she said, a little louder than she intended. She sweatdropped slightly, then sighing. "Would you like to sit with me? Perhaps get you a drink?" she offered regardless of the situation.

Umi rose both of her brows. "Fine, be rude," she said. She rolled her eyes and directed her attention away from the skiddish male. Kaoru scratched her head with a grumble, hoping to eventually find company that wasn't completely bonkers.

Umi looked upward when she smelled an oddly familiar smoke. She didn't quite remember why it was familiar, but it was. The Providence agent scratched her chin. "Something tells me that the boss man is going to start bugging me about this soon," she said, pulling the cigarette she had tucked behind her ear from behind it. She grabbed her lighter from the table top and lit the cancerous stick. She inhaled sharply and then blew the smoke outward.

Umi tapped her fingers on the table in front of her. She was looking for some kind of company, in fact, even a Leafeon or something like that would do her well. She was feeling irritated over being alone.

Umi tapped the ashes off of her cigarette. She had yet to notice the Leafeon around her, but in due time it would probably jump up in her lap and scare the daylights out of her. The special agent arched a brow when she felt eyes on her. "I'm not sure where you are, but I can feel your eyes," she spoke openly to the person who was watching her. She then blinked in surprise when a female walked over to her. "Miss, are you alright? You seem a little.. um.... tipsy," she commented to the way the way the other was walking. She rested her hand over the butt of her katana's handle.

Umi yelped in surprise when she suddenly had the pokemon jump on her head. She swatted it off of her head, her cigarette falling onto the table. Umi gathered herself quickly and grabbed the half burned cigarette and put it out. She then dusted off the ashes and tucked it behind her ear. "What the hell was that for?" she barked at the pokemon. Probably much to Aldaris' delight, the smoke quickly dissipated. Of course, she was only aware of his presence up to the fact she knew she was being watched. Her reversed edge sword clanked at her side when she stood to straighten out her shirt, not that it would've matter much with the lack of cloth she had.

Umi rubbed the back of her head, looking at the little greens based creature glaring at her. "Look, I'm sorry I shoved you, but you jumped on me, I thought I was being attacked," she defended herself. She apprehensively drummed her fingers on the hilt of her blade. She could still feel the presence of the person who had been watching her, needless to say it was making her antsy.

Umi winced in irritation at the lick. "Um, okay, I get that," she said. Suddenly there were even more people walking over to her booth. She raised both her hands in surrender. "I give up!" she said loudly. She grabbed her drink and her ashtray and moved. She was surprised when a man nearby had the same air about him as the person who had been watching her when he moved. She didn't want to say anything yet though. She shook her head and pulled her black hair out of the ponytail it was in at the nape of her neck. Umi hung her head when she sat down, letting her black hair fall into her face. "Just once I look for a place I can relax and I still get surrounded by... weird people," she grumbled, playing with the straw in her drink. She instead put her head down on the counter where she had found herself. Maybe this action would also draw this intriguing stranger towards her.

Umi looked up, her dark hair covering her eyes in thin locks. She then found the comment worthy of a chuckle and stat up. This was the stranger that had been watching him. She didn't know it was going to be an elf. Umi rose both of her hands and tucked her hair behind her ears. "Or a higher class bar over this sports bar smelling place," she laughed. Her hair was not successfully hiding the half smoked stub of a cigarette that she was holding onto. She didn't mind the cigarette smoke, she was pretty good about smoking inside where she left it at one while indoors. It was the stale beer smell she could do without. She stuck out her lower lip slightly in thought. She wanted to ask this male why he had been watching her, but she just couldn't find the words that didn't make it sound like she was a paranoid person. With this new found company though, her agitation slowed and she stopped drumming her fingers on her katana. "My name is Kaoru," she offered politely, "Most people just call me Umi though."

She followed her introduction with a friendly smile. In the true spirit of being Japanese though, she gave him a shallow bow instead of offering to shake his hand. Though she wasn't one to believe anyone would attack her so openly, she didn't want to risk it with the idea such a gesture could be perceived the same way to the stranger that she was speaking to.

Umi was still a little irritated at the amount of people, but now that she had someone to talk to, it was waning at a snail's pace. "I figured this place would get a little loud at times, and judging by the various minor blemishes on the inside walls, I'm assuming that this is a keen place for bar fights," she said, taking a brief look around. She blinked a few times, looking away and then going back to sipping her Dr. Pepper for a moment. A question did come to mind though in his case. "If you don't like it here, why do you bother to come?" she inquired. "If it wasn't for the fact I needed something to eat, I don't think I would've ventured in here today," she stated with a little laugh. No doubt that the male talking to her was certainly unique looking. The pointy ears were strangely giving her a small sense of comfort. Maybe it was because her friend back at her workplace was an elf and was one of the nicest persons she knew. Umi had to push her stray strands of long hair from her face again. She was currently mulling over a topic of conversation, Questions usually helped form a conversation, but she didn't want to start asking too many questions.

She frowned slightly. Too many questions was an issue, but that was all her tired mind wanted to go on. "Are you a specific breed of elf?" she questioned openly, lightly reaching out and gesturing to the male's anatomical feature that typically set the elven races apart from the humans.

Umi gave a small chuckle. "Okay, I can relate about the 'do not talk about the past' part," she said. Her hair was being a little bit of an irritation as it didn't want to stay out of her face. She did look around at the room when he mentioned the affect alcohol has on the tongue. Perhaps she could get some information or something of the like that would get her out from under her boss's thumb and maybe on her own for good. "Other than possible company, what brings such a fantastic being you here?" she asked, just for the sake of conversation. She was by no means a regular to this bar, not yet anyway.

Umi smiled a little. "Don't be overly flattered. I think everything that isn't human is fantastic. Humans are so... I'm at a loss of words to accurately describe the hide I'm so unfortunately a part of," she said with a shake of her head. Once again her black tresses were proceeding to scatter all over her face. "I swear, I should cut this," she said openly, grabbing her hair tie and tying her hair back in a half ponytail. "Doing things because you can, that's always a good thing to do," she joked.

Umi found herself a place to sit, on a table actually, against a wall. She had her legs crossed and her arms folded with her Katana across her lap. She gave a minor growl as she had bored herself. Any kind of company would do her good, though her curiosity about the elf she had been talking to before was beginning to be irritating too.

Umi wandered her way back into the bar. The Elf was gone for now, but she was entitled to a little self created entertainment. She put herself over in the corner again and pulled her reversed edge katana from its sheathe and inspected for any new flaws. Any swordsman would understand what she was doing in an instant.

Umi continued to examine her reversed edge blade. Her dark brown eyes were focused intensely on the surface of the katana. Of course there were scratches and the whatnot on the blade from regular use, but she wanted to make sure there were no cracks. "At least those quartz blasts from that one freak didn't do any serious damage," she said. She then pulled a piece of ricepaper from her pocket and ran it over the blade, the oil on the blade buffing out all the superficial scratches.

Umi put her blade back away in its sheathe before she pulled out her cigarette pack and tapped one into her hand. She put the cancerous treat in her mouth before lighting it quickly with a match. She gave a small huff as the smoke left her nostrils. She was still trying to find herself some decent entertainment. Her black hair was left down and she just scanned the crowd for anyone that looked like they were worthy of her company.

Umi looked at the rather, well, gay looking male and couldn't help but laugh. He was just so full of himself it was amusing. She stood up and put her Katana back on her hip, taking another long drag off of her cancer stick and tapping the ashes over the ashtray she had. Umi had half a mind to go play mind games with this male. (Koby_

Umi made her way back into the bar. While she had no company for the time being, that wasn't going to stop Umi from at least trying to enjoy herself. She tapped the end of the cigarette she pulled from behind her ear on the end of her finger before she placed it between her lips and lit it with a small, cheap plastic lighter. She had run out of matches and wasn't about to spend money on a Zippo. The blacked haired young woman continued to slink her way in, her red sheathed Katana clinking quietly from her belt. The girl dropped herself into a seat and ordered herself a graveyard soda, which was practically every soda ever in one drink.

Umi tilted her head at Akki, who was speaking of her order. "Mkay," the girl replied, taking a long drag from her cigarette. She breathed out with a long sigh. It had been a long day of monster chasing for her. She was sure that if her blade was human, it'd want a drink too. She ran her fingers through her hair, coughing softly for a moment into her hand.

Umi looked at the male that approached her. He had asked her about her Katana. "Practically all my life," she said, then picking up the Katana. She pulled the blade from its scabbard slightly, showing off the reversed blade. "It's a family heirloom if you will," she explained. She put the blade back in place and returned it completely to her belt. She looked at the male steadily for a second. "You seem to have had a decent amount of alcohol," she observed.
