Uriel Thorn

Six hundred years ago, he was a Paladin who failed his mission to slay Dracula and was infected by Porphyric Hemophilia... he has walked the shadows as a Vampire ever since, and has forsaken God for his own power.

0 · 721 views · located in The Infinite Void

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Colyo

Description

Uriel is tall, standing at 6'3. He has taken to the role of vampire well, wandering around usually in a quite formal tuxedo and is generally well kept. If there was any glaring unusual things about his physical appearance they would be that his short hair is blood red, and as are his eyes. Despite these being glaringly obvious signs of what he is, he will gladly go where he wants, when he wants.

Despite being over six hundred years old, he still looks relatively young (as in, late thirties). His face is defined by sharp cheek bones and a wickedly wide smile when he chooses to donn it. His face is always free from facial hair, no matter what.

Personality

He had long forsaken God for his vampiric powers, as such he is almost completely driven by selfish motives and his thirst to feed. Being a true vampire, one of preciously few infected by the Original One himself, his powers are many and he revels in them. He can be quite seductive when he means to, and he usually preys on women to feed upon. His natural chivalry remains only in that he will never infect someone without their well thought consent, and he will never take so much as to injure someone... considering they are not an enemy, of course. He will quite happily drain a hostile figure dry if he gets a grip on the poor bastard.

Rather than having simply forgotten his time as a Paladin, he instead secretly revels in rage against the God that had forsaken him to his fate. He is not without his own regrets, but he believes more in what he is than what God can offer him now... to the point where the once completely devoted man is now naught but a vengeful agnostic. If the means to kill Him was offered, Uriel would happily take it without a moment's hesitation. He no longer fears the wrath of God, which he considers a freedom to do what he wishes without a thought towards morality in any other form than his manners or his fragmented chivalry.

In combat, he is much like his master in that he enjoys a good game of cat and mouse. No Vampire is immortal, but like his master, Uriel is nearly impossible to kill as long as there is a presence of free flowing blood for his black soul to manipulate. Should his form be destroyed, God have mercy on anyone nearby who has an open wound, for he will happily drain you on the spot to bring himself back. He inflicts fear, often going way over the top for the sake of looking at the mortals face as they squeal for mercy. Over the screams for mercy, only his laughter will be heard...

Equipment

The only weapon Uriel has in his possession is his sword he used to use as a Paladin. Once blessed and enchanted with the Wrath of God, it has been corrupted by Uriel's vampiric influence and has turned into a blade of such horrible, black magic that it has even begun to share his hunger. It's blade has slowly turned as black as its wielders soul, and it has gained a new name... Hellfang.

Hellfang is a longsword with a pitch black blade which pulses red when its wielders sense of violence throws it into a hunger. While Uriel seeks to feed on the blood, Hellfang seeks to feed on their fear and pain. It is razor sharp and is agile enough in his hands to cut ribbons out of any flesh or non-godmode armor material.

If it gets the chance to pierce flesh and hold the tip inside of the wound, it will amplify pain considerably and inflict horrifying fear, rapidly draining the willpower of the victim. Anyone without a lions heart (see: godmoding wankers) would definitely crumble and shriek in agony.

His Vampiric magic is quite typical to sons of the Original one. While his demon and shadow summoning powers of course do not match the mighty Dracula himself, he is still quite apt in the art and more than capable of dancing amongst the necromantic powers of hell and utilizing them in the field. While Dracula favours dog/cerberus style demons, Uriel is a fan of snakes. When extremely angry, he can expend large amounts of his energy to transform his physical self into demonic extensions of massive, hungering serpents with a bloodlust and venom so powerful that a single bite would mean doom for your average person. Let alone the dozens that he could unleash at once.

He can also summon said serpents as minions, although only up to 5-10 at a time. They can act as meat shields for him, or move quickly to strike at an opponent with typical snake-like speed. Their Venom is an extension of his own hatred, and will act to drain the target's strength and willpower rapidly leaving them naught but a snivelling wreck that cannot carry his own weight in but a few minutes.

His most crippling weakness is Holy Seals, which can completely nullify any of his magical power. He would only be left to escape as a shadow in any available darkness. His swordplay skill and his weapon enchantment would remain unaffected, however, and should said holy-magic user not be prepared he can still quite easily kill them and feed upon them to gain immunity to their holy magic. Should Uriel get a single taste of the blood of a holy-magic user, he will gain full immunity to any seals they have cast, having imprinted himself as part of their own soul.

Although, if he gets the chance at their blood, he will probably drain them dry anyway.

History

Uriel was born in the Carpithian Mountains in the early 15th century, born and raised as a devout catholic in a small, uneventful villiage... except for one, distinct feature that kept it small... the terrible stories about the evil Count Dracula. However, all of the townsfolk usually dismissed this rumor as superstition, until one day the young twenty year old Holy Knight in training, Uriel, witnesses the unbelievable; the kidnapping of one of the virgin daughters of the village, the woman he himself loved.

No one believed his story, thinking him distraught. So, he set out alone with naught but his sword, up to the castle where he knew the Count to live. He made his way through, slaying his undead minions, until he found the vampire himself... who easily subdued the young, ill-trained boy and punished him by influcting the vampiric curse. He was forced to stay at the castle as he endured his slow, painful transformation... his mind invaded by the laughter of his new master through the spiritual link that flowed through his veins in the form of the vampire's shared blood.

When he had transformed completely, he was unleashed on the world... he returned to his village to be shooed away as a monster, and he flees, alone, into the mountainous wilderness, alone, confused... and hungry. Desperately hungry. He meets the girl, Flora Amsel, now a vampire herself, and she teaches him that he must feed on blood to survive and keep himself strong. Enchanted by her explaination, his sense erased by his urges, they elope... and that night, they go out to hunt the people of the villiage together as mates bound under the darkness.

One by one, they slaughter and consume the blood of every one of the villiagers, the town suffering a brutal but quiet death. By morning, there was nothing within the place but dried corpses... and two very satisfied vampires. Fearing the hunters that would no doubt come with the news of the strange deaths, they split up, dissapearing into the wild...

Uriel travelled around Europe rapidly, staying in a town and feeding until he was discovered, in which time he would flee to the next. Originally, it was out of necessity, and he would take so precious little that the victim would never even notice if not for the prinpricks on their necks... as he learned to control his vampiric powers, like the ability to change into a bat, his faith in God diminished. He became more brutal as his beliefs vanished, not believing that he could get away with walking the earth freely as one of the undead without a hint of his punishment. His luck was spectacular, and his romantic flings many. He existed this way for centuries... eventually just feeding as he would like it was second nature.

He enjoyed himself. He enjoyed what Dracula had given him... and instead of his vengeance, like he had planned for the first two hundred years... all he would wish now if he saw the other vampire again would be to thank him.

So begins...

Uriel Thorn enters the bar... although it seemed so from the direction of the door, in truth he seemed to fade into existence from the shadows around him. His hands were in the pockets of his suit. Each boot fall would seem magnified by his ominous presence, the shadows dancing around him as though grovelling at his feet.

However, all of this fear-conductive effect would fade away as quickly as it began, and all that would be left is the red haired, red eyed tuxedo-clad gentleman walking across the bar floor taking in the surroundings of the bar for the first time.

He takes a seat at a nearby table, his hands folded under his chin so that he may observe the place with interest.

Uriel Thorn notices Kiko Sidhe stumble to the floor in his watch over the bar, and he raises an eyebrow.

Well then, Uriel, quit standing around! Where are your manners?

He gets up from his seat, walking over to the fallen Maiden before kneeling to her side, offering a hand of aid. "That was quite the tumble, are you alright?" he asks smoothly.

Uriel Thorn smiles warmly, leaving his hand extended. "It's quite alright, I only mean aid. Please, let me help you."

He was amused by how flustered she was. Maybe she realized from his eye color that he was a vampire? Still, he told her no lie. He meant no harm. He was more looking for friendly conversation...

Still, he certainly didn't blame her for her caution, considering the nature of this bar.

Uriel Thorn shakes his head, his eyes closed, as though trying to reassure. His eyes opened again and his welcoming smile resumed. "I seek naught but a new friendship, I'm new in this place, you see..."

Although he doubted that was enough to convince this apparently extremely shy woman.

His hand, still, remained outstretched with an open palm so he could help her up. "Even if you would rather not my company, at least allow me the mannerism of helping you onto your feet." he says with a short, quiet chuckle.

Uriel Thorn nodded, gratified that he seemed to be making some progress. Sensing her nervous grip, he loosens his own that she might escape from it again, if only for her own comfort. "You're very welcome."

With that, he goes on the latter of what she had spoken. "Why yes, for is that not what a bar is originally intended? Other than dabbling into that wondrous thing that is alcohol, of course." he said with a smile. Or blood, in his case, but he kept that comment to himself.

He offers a deep bow, seeking to introduce himself. "My name is Uriel Thorn, I am new to these parts, and as I said... I seek companions, so that my time here might not be so lonely." Even as a vampire, he was still a social creature, after all. Even the Original One kept company around his castle.

Uriel Thorn nods with a smile at her bow and introduction. "Well then, it is a pleasure to meet you, Kiko."

With that, he points a hand to the table behind them, the companion to the chair that the girl had tripped over earlier. "Would you like to have a seat, with me? I would be honored for the opportunity to buy you a drink." he says, resisting so hard to invade her mind to see what makes her tick. No, not only would that be rude, it would make this far too easy. He left her consciousness be. He would make a friend on legitimate terms, for once, instead of playing the part of perfect match by harnessing their dreams.

That was his vow as he arrived to Wing City, anyway. Legitimacy.

Uriel Thorn continues his smile, keeping its friendly state although the smile he would have born as an observer would have been completely different; her mannerisms were unbelievably cute. Absolutely delicious...

No, control yourself. Good lord, you just ate, Uriel!

"Please, don't apologize... we all have our moments, even I." he says suavely, perhaps a bit arrogant. "As for the drink... I am not without my wealth, and I would be more satisfied knowing such a trifle of it would be going to pleasure another than sit in vain in my own pockets." he says, trying to convince her to take the offer.

His manners absolutely refused to allow her denial! To have a maiden pay for her own drink... ridiculous! Borderline heresy!

Uriel Thorn shakes his hand in front of him, denying her offer. "It's quite alright! Believe me, a simple drink is but a trifle. Consider it a gift." he says defiantly, his fingers closing her own back around the small coin gently. He would pull his hand back instantly if she gave even the slightest body language of resistance... but he would not take the coin.

Didn't know if it would buy something...? She must have been downtrodden in financial status, or something. All the more reason to buy her a drink! Besides, he was finding himself enjoying her blush, although he would never admit it out loud.

"Anything you want, Kiko, you need only ask."

Uriel Thorn returns to Kiko with two glasses... one with simple water, which he sets on the table with a smile and slides over to her, and another one filled with something alcoholic or another, which he kept for himself.

"And here you are..." he says kindly.

Uriel Thorn shakes his head with a chuckle. "You're quite welcome." he says, noticing she seemed to relax a bit. Her offer of the silver was met with no acceptance from him again. "It's only water. It's not necessary, I assure you."

Even if she had ordered Truffle Wine which could cost over 250 grand a bottle, he still wouldn't have accepted payment, anyway. Although... the silver coin made him curious. He didn't recognize where it was from. His interest in it was pale in comparison to his interest in her company, however.

"So." he says, seeking to change the subject. "What brings you to a place like this? You seem to shaken to be here to socialize." he says with a hint of concern.

Uriel Thorn shakes his head. "Not at all." It seemed odd to him that she appeared to have no reason to be here. Maybe she was just hiding it from him? Regardless, he decided to answer her returned question instead and take the pressure off of her. At least he had an answer.

"As you can probably tell, I am somewhat of... a business man." The fact he was so well dressed might have given such away already. "The town I used to live in was having economy troubles, and I was beginning to lose profits. So, I sold off most of my assets there and came here. Between the hours I spend looking for a niche... here I am, looking for pleasant company such as yourself."

Most of that was a lie, however. He left his old town because he was chased out by vampire hunters. She didn't need to know that, though. No one in this bar did.

Uriel Thorn frowned. Even that appeared to be a touchy subject for the poor girl. Troubled indeed... wandering with no purpose, no home nearby? Odd. Intriguing. Still, his manners would not allow him to push any further. She seemed distressed enough without his questioning.

He would had offered unspecific help, as well, but she was reluctant enough to take a glass of water from him. He could probably already guess her reaction on that front. Still... "Well, I don't want to pry. If it would make you feel better, is there anything you'd like to ask of me? I'm sure there must be at least a hint of curiosity behind that cute face of yours." he says with a grin.

Uriel Thorn sighed. His name... of course. Long story behind that one. And, unlike her, he wasn't too shy to tell it. To a certain point, of course. Nothing is a nuclear bomb on a first impression like admitting you are amongst the undead. "You don't have to call me 'sir'." he says with a chuckle. "I speak naught but truth, after all." he says with a smile.

Now, her own compliment and her question. "Indeed, I was named after the angel Uriel. I was born in a very christian village, where it was believed to be good luck to hold such a name."

So much luck that was for him, he didn't add. He almost scoffed. "I was raised to be a Holy Knight and take up defending that place from the evil demons that were rumored to live around there..." he explains with a curt nod, ready to answer more if she asked.

He might not get through tonight without his identity being revealed. Blast, that would be a new record.

Uriel Thorn chuckled, looking down to the table. "Bah, I was but barely out of training before that path in life took a turn for the worse... simply put, there were no demons to be found up in those mountains." he lied.

Ah, so she seemed to perk up at the idea of helping people. Cute -and- of good moral... quite the find. "It would have been nice to have that opportunity to such a service... but alas, it was not meant to be. I was cast into that life by superstition, nothing else."

Ah, as she was probably about to ask what had happened, he quickly thought up a story to put out. "I left the village soon after to go live with a Count, who I served as a legal apprentice for. I learned the ways of business from him, so I could go out into the world and make my fortune."

Uriel Thorn nodded, thankful for an easier to deal with curiosity. He seemed to have her rapt attention, which pleased him to know he was apparently taking her mind off of whatever was troubling her.

One of his hands leaves his chin for a moment to lift his wine, and he takes a drink of it before answering her question. "Yes, indeed. Count Alucard owned a big, beautiful castle up in the mountains he had purchased with his own amassed fortune. In exchange for giving the lonely man company, he trained me onto everything he knew. I chose to take the path of the pen instead of the sword... and, as you can see..." he says, lifting up the glass of wine, as though to a toast (but not expecting her to reciprocate) "... that path has served me well."

He sets the glass down again, almost guilty for bending his story. It was a holdable lie, though, so he was satisfied.

Uriel Thorn chuckled to himself. Again with the sir, thing. "It was. Although the luxury of that time cannot compare to the luxury suites of the downtown of the great Wing City!" he says. "So rarely have I lived in such luxury. Some time, perhaps, I will have to show you my apartment on the skyline." he only half offers. No doubt she would refuse him, and he tried his best to wipe any ill-intent from the gesture.

And he had actually been honest, that time. He didn't mean this young girl harm. He even found it easy to resist his hunger to feed; who in their right mind could harm such a cute girl?

... Well, there was the baker's daughter back in France, but that was two hundred years ago. Bah, people can change, right?

Uriel Thorn nodded quickly at her first questions. "All of those things, and much more, yes." her questions seemed odd... poor standing didn't seem to cut it, anymore. She seemed to be a direct victim of poverty, nothing less. He frowned.

"Please, do not worry for offending me if you would refuse. I probably would as well, in your position..." he leans up his wrist, to check his watch. "After all, we only met about twenty minutes ago." he says, surprised how fast the time flies.

He places that palm under his chin again, once again leaning on the table, and he takes another sip of his wine. "You poor thing, you look like you've been through hell and back, you're so rattled. I would like to extend my offer to a more general point; remember, I am a very wealthy man. If you ever need anything, anything at all..."

Although, he was already almost certain she would refuse him. "... don't hesitate to ask. It shall be yours."

Uriel Thorn nodded in agreement. "That it does!" although their ideas of fun probably differed to an extreme, for this time it appeared the feeling was mutual.

He then smiled. Ah, so she seemed to spread her wings of confidence! At least that small bit, but it was a start! "Yes?" he says, almost urging. "Anything at all."

Why was he so devoted to helping her? Maybe he was simply attracted. Ha, that was a laugh. Six hundred years amongst the undead and only finding attraction once? A jest, surely. Maybe he just was that nice.

Yeah, that was it. The world's nicest vampire, he thought, almost wanting to smack himself.

Uriel Thorn looked down to the blade with concern. Old and worn, yes... but it was certainly not out of reach of repairs. There had to be at least one professional in the City that could do it.

Odd that a weapon would seem to be of such value to a girl so shy... he had to resist a powerful urge to skim across her mind and listen to what she had to say about it. No, legitimate friendship, remember, Uriel? No mind manipulation. Bad vampire.

Expensive, maybe, but ha. Definitely not to his wallet. He nods with a reassuring smile. "I can get that done, certainly." supposing she would rather not part with the weapon, he continues. "I'll find a professional in the field and point you in their direction and pay for the procedure. How does that sound?" he says.
