Description

Image

Name: Vanacassya Torathanas

Age: 1287

Race: Elvhen

Occupation: Battle Cleric, a purveyor of charms

Appearance: Her slim, oval face has an alabaster complexion, slim straight nose and light violet eyes. Medium-length pale golden hair is usually held back away from her face by intricately designed haircombs, revealing her pointed ears and slender neck. Her lithe frame is usually covered in dazzling robes crafted from the finest fabrics.

Skills/Powers:She is a battle cleric, well versed in the arts of protection and healing with only minor lessons in elemental magics to aide her fellow soldiers. When not in the field, she crafts charms to help people either with every day tasks or with intangible things such as luck, health, fertility, etc.

Weaknesses: Fragile, which is why she went into the branch of magic that teaches many forms of protection.

History: Vanacassya comes from a long line of healing magic and her father was a High Mage in service to the Goddess of the Moon, Sehanine Moonbow, but Vanacassya herself turned from the path of the Moon Goddess and follows Sharess, goddess of hedonism, festhalls and sensual fulfillment. She began her life on a search for knowledge and magical information and did not return to her homeland until her voracious curiosity was sated.

So begins...

"I'm fine," Vanacassya said, looking up with a quick twist of her lips forming a smile. "I wasn't thinking. I have never seen such a thing before and I tend to look before I leap, so to speak. It has gotten me into trouble more than once." Concentrating on a minor healing spell, she closed her eyes, bringing her fingertip to her lips and blew softly upon the skin. If anyone were looking at the wound, they would see the blackened skin turn slowly into the pale coloration that indicated normal, healthy skin once more.

Reopening her violet eyes, she looked over her fingertip to see that the spell worked as it should have then dropped her hand into her lap once more. "Kaer Kydaer! When did these... seizures start?" Her brief question was followed by a frown.

Vanacassya Torathanas felt her eyes widen slightly at Ikiros' proclamations, unsure of how to respond. The arrogance of her people had her internally thinking, Of course, I amaze you... but she cut off that thought abruptly, inwardly scolding herself for such thoughts. To keep her thoughts centered, she gently closed the large tome that was still set before her on the table, making sure not to rip the papers or tear the bindings. Standing up, she walked to the bookcase that she had found the tome on, replacing it between two tomes of equal age and wear so she could gather her thoughts.

When she finally turned to him, she still had a soft smile gracing her lips and she walked over towards Ikiros, standing at arm's length from his seated figure with her hands gracefully folded in front of her."Ikiros, I...." she paused, quite obviously searching for words that would fit their situation, "Enjoy your company." There, neither leading him on nor playing down what she felt for him already. "But we have only known each other for a few days. We have only met twice." Lifting her gaze, she searched his face for a reaction before continuing on. "Maybe you just feel this way because...." her lips opened again, then closed. She wasn't sure where she had been going with her statements herself.

Vanacassya Torathanas felt a soft exhalation flow through her lips, feeling as if she had failed to correctly phrase her own feelings and that it was possibly to late to try again. As he produced the stone, she reached out tentatively, letting her fingertips brush lightly over his palm as she picked up the silvery gem. A slight quirk of her lips indicated her amusement at her next comment when she replied with, "And I'm sure if you need to find me, you could just ask your friend over there...."

Her violet gaze lifted to the falcon once more, wondering what had drawn the bird into the library in the first place. No matter the answer, she would deem it the will of the Goddess or the elements since surely it wasn't mere coincidence.

Hoping to redeem herself for her earlier communication failure, she stepped forward once, cupping her left hand against his right cheek. As her warm palm pressed against his smooth skin, she tilted her head to the side, pressing her lips against his opposite cheek in a soft kiss before stepping back once more. "Thank you, Ikiros. I hope to see you again." She said in her lilting voice and she slid the stone into her hip pouch then turned to exit the library.

Vanacassya Torathanas knelt in the grass near the center of the Glen intently studying a spot before her. She had come to the quiet meadow to practice spells away from the prying eyes of her comrades and the inquisitive sight of those that inhabited Wing City. Though the elvhen maiden was a practiced battlemage, she didn't know every spell and cantrip available even if she had researched a majority of them, So she was here, enjoying the silent solitude and using the moment of peace to test out a spell she had just read in a scroll at the deserted Library that would enhance a creature's normal statistics such as agility, strength and speed.

Laying in the grass before her was a simple rabbit and gesturing with her right hand, Vanacassya murmured a soft phrase. Shimmering air surrounded the bunny for a moment then disappeared into thin air though the spell itself didn't appear to have an effect. The elf sighed softly but then was taken aback as the rabbit suddenly leaped up perhaps a foot or two into the air then darted off faster than she thought possible, heading towards the surrounding forest.

Vanacassya Torathanas lifted her violet gaze in the direction of the chuckle as its soft sound met her ears and a smile crept upon her lips as she recognized its source. "Well met, Ikiros," she said, placing her hands upon her thighs as she looked over the man, eyeing his weapons with a slightly arched brow. "I frequent the Glen when I have...." she trailed off, pausing for a moment before deciding to tell him the truth even though, for her, it was slightly embarassing, "When I have to practice new spells."

Her eyes dropped to her silvery-grey robes, letting her now-idle hands smooth along the satin fabric to remove any debris that had flown onto her person from the bunny tearing off into the forest previously. It had kicked up a few sprigs of grass and some dirt as it practically flew into the surrounding woods.

"Your domain?" she repeated his statement as her brow furrowed slightly.

Vanacassya Torathanas placed her hand lightly into his own when it was offered and she rose gracefully to her feet. Using her free hand to dust off the remnants of dirt from her robes she looked in the direction he had indicated, completely unaware that there was a house so close by. "Ah so not yours by right but yours by assumption. I will try not to intrude upon your hunting grounds again..." her eyes fell to the swords strapped to his belt then the bow hung about his torso before returning her gaze to his once more.

"So how did you manage to find me in the vast forest surrounding your house? Do you have some sort of ward placed around your property or did your falcon find me once more?" Light laughter escaped her lips and she looked quite obviously for the same bird that had found her yesterday in the remote and abandoned library.

Vanacassya Torathanas grinned as he spoke of her tangle with the briar bushes, a soft blush creeping across her snow white cheeks. "I tend to get caught up in what I am doing and I was looking for a.... Test subject for my spell." More light laughter followed her admission and she recalled trying to catch the rabbit without harming him. The elvhen maiden had been about to snag him when he had darted beneath the briars and without a second thought, she had turned to follow.

Always look before you leap was definitely not her motto at the moment.

"How have you been since yesterday?" She asked Ikiros with a thread of worry apparent in her tone. "Have you had any more...." she hated thinking of them as seizures though he had used the word himself, "Visions?"

Following quite easily behind Ikiros, Vanacassya weaved her way through the trees and the brush all while listening to the sounds of the surrounding nature. It was for this reason that she usually could be found in the woods or out in a meadow when not out and about seeking knowledge. Her people let nature inflect upon every aspect of their life from the roots of their nature based magics to their healing poultices to the animals that served as guardians, scouts and spies.

As she passed a honeysuckle bush, she plucked a small flowering branch and quickened her pace to walk beside Ikiros, snapping a bloom from the branch and handing it over to him before taking one of her own. As she clutched the base of the small flower, she pulled the petals up and over the style to extract the sweetened nectar from the plant with her tongue. "Does no one else look over you, Ikiros?" The thought worried her especially if he lived out here alone and in the middle of nowhere.

Vanacassya Torathanas furrowed her brow slightly at his remark. "Less easy to turn away those on two legs? Hopefully you mean enemies and are not hinting at the fact that you would rather be left alone by... everyone." She cast a smile at him as she moved passed him when he swept aside the curtain of leaves, entering the smaller meadow and looking around the area briefly before her gaze settled upon the house.

"It's quite beautiful. You've done well for yourself here," she murmured, her lilting voice soft and hushed in the quiet expanse of the meadow and her footsteps drew her closer to the opposite side of the yard as her attention fell upon the ropes and various other contraptions suspended from the trees. "Asrath, you say. Is it the Atlantean way to name your homesteads?"

Vanacassya Torathanas stayed away from the various trappings that had held her interest a moment ago, content to believe the Atlantean that they were too dangerous to investigate though her curiosity was piqued. "Yet you are immortal, you claim, so what fear do you have of anything or anyone?" Her question was more of a thought, spoken out loud that would catch his ear since his hearing was atleast as keen as her own.

Turning in place, a light smirk crossed her features as she saw him reclining in the center of the yard and she strolled back towards him, a thoughtful look upon her face as she considered his question. "We have names for most everything for everything that we create is sacred to us. Our homes have names, the places where we fish and hunt have names, our forests have names depending on their moods." A soft chuckle filled the air as she clasped her hands lightly in front of her. "Everything has a... personality all of its own so it deserves respect and in deserving respect it gains some for of a name. We are not like the humans where everything is to be lorded over and taken as property. Does any of that make sense?" It was hard for her to use common to describe anything about her people. As she had said, most everything had a name and sometimes a single place could have a dozen different 'names' depending on the situation or mood it instilled. It was most likely hard for anyone not of elvhen lineage to understand.

Vanacassya Torathanas grinned at his next question, truly amused at his curiosity. "We do not bestow names upon people unless they have made some major impact upon an individual or the people as a whole. We had a human, a General in his tongue, once face us upon the battlefield. Though most humans we have dealt with have been tricksters, this man was different and he declared truce each night for both sides to take care of the dead and mend their wounded. Though we have heard that promise before come from mortal lips this was the first man to give his word and also keep it. He gained the name Cylys mys." A small look of nostalgia flashed through her eyes before she continued on.

"So you, Ikiros, will have to make your mark upon the elvhen if you wish to garner a name for yourself among them." As her words trailed off softly, she looked upon the sky, noting the time with a sigh. "With that bit of challenge issued towards you, I must take my leave of you." A playful smirk trailed her lips as she added, "Lissenen ar' maska'lalaith tenna' lye omentuva, Ikiros."

Wandering back through the forest on her way towards the Hidden Glen, Vanacassya made sure to avoid all briar patches so that if she happened to run into the Atlantean again today, he couldn't tease her for it. While humans might use compasses or large landmarks to thread their way through the trees, the elvhen maiden could rely simply upon touch. It may sound odd to anyone that was not a part of a nature-sensitive species but each tree had a different voice, a different soul and she could tell by simply touching its bark whether she had come this way the day before or not.

As she pushed through a particularly thick set of brush limbs, she stepped into the clearing with a relieved sigh and let her eyes roam around the meadow in search of her 'experiment' from yesterday. "Yala onna," she murmured in a soft lilting voice.

The elvhen maiden paused her movements as she heard the sound of large leathery wings flapping high overhead. Though she knew that dragons rarely sought targets amongst the humanoids, it was never a good idea to get cocky and assume you were safe. That was usually the moment that one would snatch you right off the ground if for no other reason than to prove a point.

"It has been so long since I have seen an old one..." she said wistfully as she let her violet gaze drift after the creature before resuming her search for the small rabbit which she had bespelled the day before. Pushing her black silken gowns away from her lower legs, she knelt upon the ground to peer beneath shrubbery as she called out once more in almost a whisper.

Vanacassya Torathanas heard the soft sound of footsteps approaching and immediately though of Ikiros since she barely heard him treading upon the ground. Any other hunter would most likely have been human and they tended to be a heavy footed sort. "Aaye mellonamin," she called out softly in greeting as he came into view but she didn't let her gaze rest upon him for long as she continued her search.

When she came up empty handed, she sat up and placed her hands upon her hips with a frustrated look upon her face. "How am I supposed to know if that worked? Side effects were a possibility but without seeing him again I wouldn't know if the spell is safe enough to carry out upon my men or if it requires more work...." Her voice was soft as she muttered to herself and she finally raised back up onto her feet, letting her gown fall back down to her ankles once more.

Vanacassya Torathanas arched a brow as the figure had her thinking twice about his identity. She swore that his voice sounded a bit like Ikiros' but there was an odd tinge of melody threaded into his tone that, at least in his normal way of speaking, Ikiros didn't quite have. Her brow quirked slightly at the conundrum but then a smle crossed her lips. One way to see if it was really an elvhen ranger was to speak her language.

"Antolle ulua sulrim," she began with a quick laugh then followed it by saying, "Lle rangwa amin?" She circled the edge of the clearning, making sure to stay at a somewhat safe distance as she kept her gaze upon the cloaked man.

Vanacassya Torathanas still did not trust the hooded figure though she kept it well concealed as she accepted the rabbit from the man, holding it gently in her arms as she would a child. She could feel its heart beating quickly as she stroked her soft hands over its fur, willing it to relax. "lanta kaima..." she cooed to the frightened animal and it closed its eyes briefly before falling asleep.

"Half elf, then? What clan is your mother's people a part of?" She hid her soft smile as she continued to pet the rabbit in her arms, allowing her golden hair to mask the amused expression upon her face.

Vanacassya Torathanas found it quite interesting that not only had a half-elf somehow found his way this far from the homelands but had entered Wing City without her knowledge. She could almost taste the lies upon the man's breath but at the same time she could taste truth. Falsehoods mixed with reality did not settle well with her and she moved to the edge of the Glen in the direction she knew Ikiros' home to be.

"Well met, half-elf Bolson. I hope you do not think I am being rude but I was going to visit a friend of mine so I should be going." Giving him a brief moment to respond she then turned and entered the forest, still holding the bunny gently in the crook of her left arm.

Vanacassya Torathanas approached Ikiros' house from the same direction as he had led them the day before and she cast her gaze about the lawn until she spotted the Atlantean fiddling about in a garden. Her brow arched once more in surprise. She had expected to see a cloaked figure running towards the house instead.

Using a slender finger, she rubbed beneath the bunny's chin, waking the tiny creature back up. "You will be safer here than in the forest..." she told the animal before lowering him to the ground. As soon as the rabbit's feet hit the ground, he bounced over to Ikiros almost immediately and circled the man once before darting off around the house.

"You have many elvhen floating through your forest, it seems. Do you try to attract them or is there something special about your land?"

Vanacassya Torathanas walked slowly behind Ikiros as if she was studying his property and when she walked towards a butterfly bush she leaned in, cupping one of the delicate blooms between her fingertips and lowering her nose to the fragrant flower to inhale its scent. When she raised back to a standing position, she shook her head, tucking her hands into the deep pockets of her black silken robes as she wandered back towards the Atlantean. "I know of no other elvhen in the city. Different clans have different dialects. Sort of like humans. Britains alone have a plethora of regional dialects even though they all speak the Queen's English...." She strolled slowly along the lawn as she explained, keeping an inquisitive eye upon Ikiros for his reaction. "There are many different clans in the city but none of my own."

Vanacassya Torathanas smiled as he asked her to teach him her language and she glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. "Why are you so interested in the elvhen, Atlantean?" She asked because she was truly curious not because she was upset or put off by his questions. He had asked of his name in elvhen the day before and had seemed almost saddened that the Elvhen rarely gave names to people not of their clan unless it followed some awe-inspiring tragedy or triumph. He had asked to perhaps one day see her homeland... Now, he wished to learn their language? It was an odd request to say the least.

Vanacassya Torathanas pondered his request for a moment as she noticed him looking back down towards the ground shortly after validating his reasons for such a request. It was so heartfelt and so simple of a request that she decided to ignore her people's feelings on the issue. Usually the way of the elvhen was kept only to themselves since they were a proud people. They were afraid that if the knowledge was too widely shared it would dilute their culture somehow.... But what harm could teaching one Atlantean her language do to the Elvhen?

Walking over towards Ikiros, she placed a finger beneath his jaw, willing him to look at her though she would not force the issue. "You are intelligent, Ikiros so I expect our lessons to go quickly then. I shall be by tomorrow for the first lesson." With a soft laugh, she released his jaw once more and stood up, wandering to the edge of the forest once more.

"Namaarie, or 'Farewell', Ikiros," she said in her lilting voice before pushing her way back into the forest to head home for the evening.

Dressed almost regally in fine satin robes of a deep purple hue, Vanacassya stood along the edge of the forest with her back pressed against a rather large oak tree as she surveyed the field in front of her. For several nights now there had been reports of bandits along the roads lining the woods that harassed all passersby but so far this evening she had seen.... Absolutely nothing.

Sighing, she closed her eyes and leaned her head back against the tree as well, relishing the moment's serenity. If any sounds were made, her keen hearing would pick up on such things so she allowed herself to rest her weary eyes.

She heard the almost inaudible sound of boots along the dirt path and her light violet eyes flickered back open, focusing towards the source of the sound. Vanacassya slipped behind the oaken tree, keeping its large trunk between her and the darkened silhouette until it came closer into view. It appeared to be a man, normally attired and with no visible weaponry. That fact alone caused her petal pink lips to curve into a soft frown. No one was dense enough to travel this path without something to protect themselves so he was either a mage of some renown or he wasn't as human as he seemed.

Gesturing with her right hand, the elven maiden cast a small trio of protective spells upon herself. Protection from normal weapons, protection from weapons and protection from evil. In most situations, these three would suffice and she wanted something cast upon her before drawing attention to herself.

"Well met, night traveller." Her lilting voice carried in the still night air as she greeted the man.

Vanacassya narrowed her eyes at the man as he came closer and a small smirk crossed her lips when he stopped just far enough away from her protective wards. "You treat me as if I am some trouble-wreaking fairy with wings. My people don't frolic, at all." She stepped out away from the woods with her arms still tucked close to her body as if protecting her torso from harm, a mostly defensive gesture. "So tell me, what are you doing here travelling so late at night?" Of course, she was a hypocrite since she hadn't answered his similar question and given him any information in return.

The elf blinked. No one had ever walked away from her before, especially not in the middle of a conversation. "Well you are apparently not one of the bandits I seek, then. Good travels..." Sighing, resigned, Vanacassya strode back to her position near the oaken tree, pressing her back to it and sliding down into a seated position. Under her breath, she grumbled something in her elven tongue about inconsiderate humans.
