Name: Varia Vulpes
Height: 5'4
Weight: 130 lb.
Age: 23
Species: Vampire

Varia could have been a picture of beauty, if you looked past the extensive tattooing and piercings, the wild unkempt hair and general look of contempt about her. Varia is a wild soul at heart, and she isn't afraid to show it. Wardrobe aside, Varia is very much the sort of person to smoke next to the no smoking sign, or to chew gum very loudly at a meeting. She has a rebellious nature and a sense of petty defiance for authority and rules, regardless of how small they might be.

As with all of the Lessard line, Varia is gifted with enhanced strength, speed, reflexes, senses and the ability to shapeshift. However she has a far stronger affinity to her animalistic nature than either her sire or her grandsire. Even her eyes have taken on the amber hue of a wolves eyes rather than the typical crimson of the Lessard's.

As with those that she shares such affinity with, Varia is prone to acting on instinct rather than careful planning and forethought. She also suffers a far weaker grasp than most of her line when it comes to self-control and restraining her vampiric instincts.

Varia crouched down as she inspected the pile of stone and dust that had yet to fully disperse, though after running her finger tips over the remnants of Mariotto it was the sword beside it that drew her attention. Pulling it free from the ground she gently rested it length wise across the palms of her hands to inspect the object. Kyle would be better able to determine its origins and previous owner, as well as those of the gun and spent shell that had already been placed within her pocket.

Standing up she cast another glance around the immediate area. The damage was extensive, even ascending up the length of one of the larger oak trees - clearly the battle hadn't taken place solely on the ground. However, despite the severity of the damage, the spread was limited - the fight was likely over before it even began.

Overhead the sky was beginning to lighten as it was nearly dawn, but the odds of being jumped by a werewolf in the early hours of morning were substantially less. Though, that she was out here at all would have likely riled up those of her family, but she wanted to see for herself the destruction the beast had wrought upon the area.

Varia heard Charles long before she saw him, but his lighter steps were clearly not those of a werewolf, and so she remained and allowed him to happen upon her. Perhaps it was curiosity, but whatever the reason it was hard to say.

Casting her eyes up and down Charles' form she eyed him up appraisingly before giving the weapon in her hand a practiced and deft twirl, as if testing the weight of it.

“Varia,” she replied while glancing up and down the length of the blade. “Not a bad balance,” she observed.

“You didn't ask why I was here, only who I was,” she retorted.

Varia grinned and tossed the blade to Charles'. His words suggested he might know who its owner was, and perhaps she wouldn't require Kyle's talents after all. Besides, she still had the gun in her pocket to take back to him if she needed. “Friend of yours?” she asked.

“I heard there was a wolf loose in these parts, I just came to see for myself. The gypsies are all up in arms about it, apparently it wrecked some havok out that way a few nights ago,” she said.

“I know she's wily, and doesn't stay in one place for long. I also know there's been at least four attacks out this way. She's making quite a stirring with the locals I hear,” she said with a grin.

“I'm just a tourist,” she added with a shrug. “Seems like you know more than me, like who that dust pile was.” she pointed out.

“Seems to me the locals have more to worry about with a wolf running loose, than little old me,” she mused with an mischievous and coy twitch of her lips. There was something almost human about her expressions and movements at times, betraying her youthfulness. Scarcely a few months into her undeath, Varia was only just beginning to come into her own.

“Have a name? For asking so many questions, you sure don't offer much in return...” she pointed out.

Sauntering her way towards him she scented the air lightly before circling to walk around Charles, eying him appraisingly. Her movements were more curious than hostile in nature, though it was hard to make much out of him with that cloak. A stark contrast to her own wardrobe, which left little to the imagination.

“Murder?” Varia asked inquisitively. Pausing to lounge lightly against a tree, she folded her arms casually as she spoke.

“I didn't know wild animals constituted murder,” she replied. She was definitely interested now and delving for information, though she kept her demeanor light and amiable.

Varia held her hands up in a gesture of mock defensiveness, “Hey now, I didn't mean any harm, just making conversation,” she said.

“It's not like it's every day you hear that someone intentionally lets something like that loose you know.”

Well, the conversation seemed to have gone full circle. Didn't he realize he had been the one to say it was murder? It felt like they were going over the same ground a second time through.

“I think we already established you know more than me, I'm just here for the kicks. Tell me more about this wolf problem of yours though, and maybe we can help one another.” she offered mildly.

“Coincidence perhaps?” she offered in a mock display of helpfulness. “He's hardly been the only victim out in these woods,” she pointed out with a shrug before offering a wave of her hand northward.

“The gypsy's make their home just north of the forest border. Though I would be careful if you head out that way. They're a superstitious lot to say the least,” she added. “They don't take too well to our kind, but the travelers that come through there bring stories enough back to the city,” she explained with a shrug.

“If you don't want my help though, that's fine by me. But I assure you, my tracking skills are second to none,” she added boldly.

“If you change your mind, look me up... Vulpes, Varia Vulpes,” she offered.

Varia sauntered into the bar, thumbs hooked into her belt as she paused to lounge against the doorway, surveying the area. Most of her family steered clear of this place, but Varia found it appealing. The lawless brutality of the place, the frequent bar fights and criminal activity. It was the perfect place for one of her nature.

Today however, something caught her eye, or rather, her nose. Timo. Something was just not right about that man? Vampire? No, Vampire wasn't quite right either. There were similarities but something was just wrong.

Wolfish amber eyes narrowed on the dhampir as she tried to place what about the creature was so downright off. Scarcely months into her unlife, youthful naivety and a lack of encounters with such a creature left Varia more puzzled than cautioned.

Varia raised a brow at the man that approached her. “They do, do they?” Varia inquired with a wry smirk.

“Maybe I should go introduce myself, eh?” she mused out loud. Her left hand rose to lightly twirl a curl of coppery hair around her finger in a coy display of mock innocence. Though given her wardrobe, and scarcely clad nature, innocent was probably not in Varia's vocabulary.

It was that look of contempt shot her way that made Varia's mind up for her. What more of an invitation could she get? Sauntering her way past Rabbit, she leisurely approached the pair at the bar count.

“Evening.”

Her voice held a low playful allure to it, and there was a fire in her wolfish eyes.

The fingers of the sunlight were receding from their hold upon the sky, inching back towards the western skyline in a full retreat. Amidst the beckoning darkness stood a shadow, with mocha skin, dark glasses, and a muscle shirt strapped down with weapons of various shapes and sizes. Behind the thick glass was a quirked eyebrow as he studied the clearing he stood in; dead leaves mingling with browning grass, gentle breezes flowing through the trees that encircled the area. As he finished his cursory scouting, the shadow stepped into the open, one hand firmly enclosed around the handle of his Katana.

Into the clearing stepped the Shadow.

Into the clearing stepped Torrential.

It was a shitty spot for an ambush, and he truly doubted any of his would-be companions would risk attacking someone that they needed in order to fight off their prey for the night. He was useful; even the wild and care-free Lessard girl would admit that, though his former ally of the Vankyroth may be harder pressed to come clean about his skill. Either way, Torrential didn't think much of his companions opinions.

He was here to kill a mutt.

Checking his watch, and noting that he was indeed on time, he sat cross-legged in the middle of the clearing, and closed his eyes, listening to the sounds around him. He was a competent tracker because he relied on all of his senses, and he took the time to hone them whenever possible. A deer crunched a leaf a few miles to the south, two squirrels chased each other over nuts, and the chattering of a mockinbird rose above the din of the forest.

With all of his concentrated listening, it was little wonder that he heard one of his companion's approaching him. With a smile, he spoke.

"I wondered if this was going to be a Solo hunt, after all."

It was Varia who stepped into the clearing, clothed as impractically as ever. Milky cream skin glowed in the night, hardly seeming fitting for the hunt ahead. The only saving grace to her scant clothes were the numerous blades adorning her figure. Fortune would have it at least, that the darkness cast by the new moon kept her numerous piercings and metallic ornaments from glinting in the moonlight.

Behind her, dark shapes took form as several wolves detached from the trees with her. They were lean and ravenous beasts, as wild as Varia's heart. However, as she moved to join Torrential, the animals dogging her steps fell back to wait within the shadows.

“Lovely night for a hunt, wouldn't you say?” Varia inquired with a glint of fire in her wolfish eyes.

"Lovely night indeed." He opened his eyes and looked up at her, letting his gaze travel from her feet to her face, slowly, languidly. He cracked a smile, flash of fangs in the darkness.

"I was pleasantly surprised when you asked me here, Varia. Hunting the mongrel would be most pleasing to me."

“I hope that's not all that's pleasing to you,” Varia replied with a coy wink as she sauntered past him to keep watch for Charles.

He let his eyes wander on her for a little while longer, and he rose to his feet. "You have me curious," he began. "Most Lessards I've heard of - though you're the first I've met in the flesh - seem to be uptight..." He paused, looking for the right word.

"...Dickwads. Yet you seem less so. I imagine you don't get along well with your brothers in fangs."

"Maybe you just haven't met enough of us yet?" Turning, she lounged leisurely with her back to a tree. Everything about the woman seemed wolfish, from the amber hue of her eyes to her coy grin.

He grinned back, liking that particular expression on her face. "I don't think that's a bad thing. Vankyroth, Lessard... all you group types are bad for business. I prefer the thrill of the hunt to the boredom of politics."

“And yet here we both are, same night, same patch of wood, hunting the same werewolf. Me a Lessard, you a... whatever you are. Not so different, eh?” she retorted.

Torrential nodded, one hand touching the silver dagger, the only piece of silver the vampire owned, at his belt. It wasn't nearly enough to take down the werewolf by itself, but at least he wouldn't witness a wolf's eyes grow back after he popped them out.

"I prefer to think of myself as a... free agent." He rolled his neck on his shoulders, arching his brow. "But I agree. Not so different after all."

A pause. Then, "What are you doing after we bag the werewolf?"

Dirty ashen hands reached out beneath a dark green cloak, silver trimmed cuffs taught on the arm slid off the wrist revealing more of the pale figure. His steps were quiet, his breathing almost unexistent. Blackened nails gripped the loose bark of a young sappling, skinning it to expose the green underneath, as they coiled deeper into the young wood.

His first meeting with Varia was over the corpse of a man he’d just come to know. Though he thought nothing of him, the attack against a group he’d sworn allegiance to couldn’t go unnoticed. It was there he was offered the aid he came to know he needed so badly only a few weeks before at the hands of that same wretched wolf and one of her pups. And only a few nights after that he’d found himself in her presence once again, taking her up on the offer.

And so here he was.

“Late, am I?”

He had no need to run his eyes over either of the two, the metal of their blades had already caught his attention long ago. But something was to be said about the poor clothing that Varia wore.

He spoke again, “Lets not linger on me, I’m sure we’ve all places to be for the night.” a tug pullin his dark lips into a crooked smile.

“Ah, and Mr. Tall, Dark and Broody appears,” Varia remarked at Charles' arrival. Torrential's question would apparently have to await an answer for another time. They all had more pressing matters to attend to for the time being.

"Bout time." Torrential quipped, as Varia finished her sentence.

Varia pulled a small dart out of her hair and flashed it to Charles. “Wolfsbane. One drop of this should bring down even the largest of werewolves. Gypsy alchemy,” she explained before tucking it back behind her ear for safe keeping until they needed it.

Torrential cocked his head at the sight of the dart, an eyebrow arching. "Cool toy. Where'd you get it?"

"The gypsies of course," Varia replied mischievously.

"Interesting. Nimble fingers or brute force?"

"Now now, I can't go giving away all of my secrets now can I?" Varia retorted with a wink. “Shall we then?” she added with a wolfish grin before she turned and departed into the woods. The wolves converged around her as she moved, and before long she had broken into a run, keeping even pace with the ravenous beasts.

As Varia stood there, simply absorbing the atmosphere of the bar a man came to rest a hand on her shoulder, a drunken grin plastered on his face. That is before she simply grabbed his hand and squeezed it with the crack of bone.

“What the fuck?!” The man bellowed as he pulled away, cradling his broken hand. “You stupid fucking bitch. You're dead, you hear that? Dead!” Though, for all his drunken blustering, the man simply stumbled out of the bar, perhaps in search of medical attention.

“Well now, that was fun,” Varia mused with a wolfish grin.

Lighting a cigarette she took a long drag before tilting her head back to blow the trailing smoke into the air overhead, watching it swirl about lazily. With the matter of the drunkard taken care of, she turned her intention to scanning the crowd for something... or someone.

Varia's composure broke with the scent of blood filling her senses. Perhaps there was a lesson to be learned here about walking into a bar bleeding and wounded, rather than the local hospital. But either way, Varia was upon Albio in a flash, amber eyes flashing dangerously as she moved to drag the man to his feet by the lapels of his coat.

Varia didn't relinquish her hold on the man. In fact, it would be Kaiser who was the foolish one, if he thought her actions were benevolent in any manner, shape or form. She instead simply turned her wolfish gaze upon the one that seemed intent on interfering with putting the man out of his misery.

Though, whatever she was about to say was suitably lost as she caught the sound of an engine approaching.

“... What the fuck?” was all the said as she dropped the unconscious man back to the floor. So stunned by the unfolding scene, she didn't even try to get out of the way. Fortunately the newly renovated building structure saved her from harm – though not shock and dismay.

Varia was too busy staring in shock at the man who tried to run a humvee through the wall of Gambit's to really pay the bleeding man any attention. Other than to vaguely note the oddity of a man bleeding to death, waking back up up, despite his wounds not being stached, and thus actually having even less blood than the amount he had that caused him to pass out in the first place. A mystery to say the least.

Which proved to be a good thing as Joker started the vehicle back up. Her eyes went wide as she found herself staring at it. Was that guy fucking insane?

… Clearly yes.

Varia dove to the side to avoid the vehicle crushing her as it broke through the wall.
