Vegeshin Kanahashi

Vegeshin Kanahashi, A Hybrid being. Half Youkai, and half Saiyan.
Hn, and to think, I was convinced I'd be fighting a warrior. All I see before me is trash.
Description

Image

Vegeshin first appears before the eyes as a six foot majestic being. With vivid violet locks that stand in lazy spikes and two long locks on either side that fall to his chest, his violet eyes cast out upon the many who spy him. He is typically seen in an elegant, draping, outfit of sorts, completed by crisscrossing belts that hold Shissaiga, his Chusshin blade. Aside from that, his body is slim, slender, and yet well-toned and fit.

Personality

Vegeshin is one typically very silent. He prefers to remain in silence, and speak only when necessary...than idly chat nonsensical words. Though, he can be found speaking casually once in a while, simply for sanity's sake. He's geared more toward a darker side of emotions, one whom has never healed over a past event that happened to scar him. Since then, he's been rather stoic, blunt, and moody. Though, he is one whom is very protective over the few friends, and family, he has...and will go to any lengths to protect them. He also holds justice deep in his heart, though perhaps a wrong sense of justice...one he takes into his own hands. He despises all that with nefarious, cruel, intentions and goes out of his way to smite such efforts. He doesn't hesitate to seek justice against those, and instead cross justice by committing the very evils against said beings he swore against.

Equipment

Vegeshin is known as a Hybrid, or halfbreed, in simple terms. His father was a Saiyan, and his mother was a Daiyoukai. That in itself grants him a phenomenal bloodline with many gifts.

Vegeshin's Saiyan genetics give him some special attributes.

Saiyan Genetics:
-Usage of Ki
-Daunting strength; Transcendental speed; and a great Stamina
-Bukujutsu (Flight)
-Energy signature perception

Saiyan Regeneration: Each time a Saiyan comes close to death, they completely heal...and more focus is placed on their bodies attributes to increase their strength, stamina, speed, and resistance. This is no different with Vegeshin.

The secondary genetic that comprises his DNA happens to be that of Daiyoukai. With a Daiyoukai's genetics come even more abilities, and gifts.

Daiyoukai Genetics:
-Further enhances Vegeshin's physical attributes: Speed, Strength, Dexterity, Stamina. But, this blood adds to his Flexibility as well; allowing him to perform strange movements usually normal human beings aren't gifted with.
-Condensed muscle mass is granted with this blood; slimming his body, and trimming it into pristine condition, as to move fluidly like with each graceful motion. It is what adds to his speed, and as well, allows his body to withstand heavy attacks
-Health Regenerative abilities comes with this blood, just like with Saiyan blood; thus it is doubled, and sped up, with Vegeshin.
-Keen senses are granted with this bloodline. Sight, Scent, Hearing, Touch. All multi-folded.
-Yoki; The energy used by Youkai, and Daiyoukai, alike. Vegeshin is blessed with a massive quantity of the energy naturally manifesting within his body. It doubles, and triples, into several uses; be it attacks, or regenerative abilities.
-Toxin Immunity; The ability to fully process, and dissolve, any toxins that enter his body via airbourn, or physically inflicted. As such, any toxins used against him are instantly processed, dissolved, and resisted leaving him unharmed.
-Psionics come with the Daiyoukai bloodline. Telepathy, and Telekinesis, are accomplished by this bloodline. The use of Telekinesis is limited, due in part to his half blood, but Telepathy is something greater in him than thought. Though it is rare for him to use such, it is not beyond him to do so, and it is something that he utilizes when necessary. The ability to protrude the minds of others has been used before in dire situations.

Shissaiga: A legendary blade made of Xzenonite. The Xzenon in it is a rare, essentially one of a kind, material infused into countless other molten alloy's and stone to create what is known as the Chusshin Blade. Scientific thought would have it that fusing such materials together would make a rather weak, unstable, blade...but with the addition of Xzenon on the molecular level; all the materials come together to form a more solid; stable; and perfect creation: Xzenonite.

-The blade itself is able to utilize, and form, a blanket of whatever energy the wielder so chooses to use around the blades edge; giving it that much more power in its strikes.
-The blade is, as stated before, made of the material Xzenonite. Only another blade (Or Armor) constructed of Xzenonite, can break the sword making it an ultimate defense in some aspects.
-Xzenonite, thanks in part to the material Xzenon, is very able to rend through certain materials and energies. Magic is no exception; Xzenon is much like a shield toward the energy. Those who cross the ethereal plane as well are susceptible, for the material see's past realms; cutting through each with ease.
-Those who hold a Chusshin blade are not affected by age; leaving them immortal. With that immortality comes several additions; such as immunities to toxins and such.
-The blade itself is feather-light, making it a very quick weapon to use. Like lightning, it can sear through the air in swift speeds.

History

Vegeshin's history is mottled with Tragedy and Loss. Born upon a sister planet to the Planet Vegeta, Vegeshin loses his parents because of a strict law against inter-racial consemation. His father was a Saiyan, and his mother a Demon. A forbidden love, due to the Saiyan's hatred for Demons.

Sent to earth, Vegeshin grew up alone, learning everything on his own. Growing up, he meets a young girl, developes a simple crush. He see's her day after day, and then...she's gone. He see's her no more, breaking his young heart.

Slightly older, he moves from his original home, silly enough; a forest, into the city, due to his forest being destroyed and developed into a residential area. Moving into the city, he learns to adapt to realistic life. No more barbarianism for him, one could say. He enrolls in a Martial Arts academy, to test his skills, and ascends in ranks quickly.

His last year, he enters a tournament, and defeats all the competition aside from the last opponent, a girl, in which they both plummet out of the ring. A double ring-out. He comes to befriend her, and the friendship flourishes.

A couple years pass, and Vegeshin decides it's time to leave. Wander. Explore the world. His friend chooses to stay, start her own Dojo. Vegeshin parts, but as he's leaving, he runs into the same girl from his youth. Reintroducing themselves, old feelings resurface. It continues on, until Vegeshin becomes around twenty two, in human years. He still resembles that of an eighteen year old.

They marry, and live happily within the city, Vegeshin forsaking his wandering plans. Living a usual life, Vegeshin treats her to lunch one day. They were expecting a young girl, and Vegeshin simply wished to give her a decent time. That day, things changed. An old enemy from his fathers past arrives in the form of a Saiyan space pod. Crashlanding in the city, he states that he was sent to finish off the Saiyan/Demon hybrid children from Hiroshi. He was to purify the Saiyan race, and purge it of it's tainted filthy halfbreeds.

Vegeshin refuses to battle, and his enemy instead chooses to invoke an anguished feeling over Vegeshin. He takes the life of Vegeshin's love, which also ends Vegeshin's unborn daughters life. This envelopes Vegeshin in such a despair, that he had thought his mind had snapped. An anger, so untamed, awakens within him. His blood nearly boils. And he takes after his enemy.

A long, grueling, confrontation begins. And after some hours, and Vegeshin's power continually growing from his heart-consuming despair, Vegeshin exacts his revenge. But...it doesn't quite his heart. His emptiness was still there, and it was overwhelming. With nothing left, he takes care of the things he must...and begins an aimless, fateless, journey. Merely wandering. Seeing the world, like he so desired the first time, but through emotionless eyes. Vivid violet eyes, but eyes that held no warmth to them. A beautifully empty glass, so to speak.

So begins...

The Aschen team continued to work hard setting up the pallet with the laser drill, while a pair of scientists that dropped down from the ship above began taking close up photographs of the door itself, along with installing anti-mana charges.

"Solis, you're to take the data gathered here back to Langara, where the data will be analyzed and a course of action chosen." The Radio chirped.

The Aschen woman nodded, extending her hand to take the data recorder from her science team.

"Alright, I need to take this back to the Empire." She said, taking the device.

The scientists nodded, before fanning out and taking additional photographs.

Looking up, Erin watched the Aschen vessel disappear without a trace, it's stealth systems engaging, then she touched a device on her wrist, a swirling vortex of energies engulfing her, allowing the woman to seemingly disappear without a trace.

"This," Casren gestured to the Impervious Door, "Is a great puzzle that we've all, somehow, been elected to complete."

"I," The vampire pointed to himself, "Am Casren Bistreo, and it's a pleasure to meet you despite the circumstance. A pleasure to meet a-" He turned, realizing more people had disappeared, but the idea of the drill was still in motion.

Casren sighed and looked after those headed to Ruula. Though he had arrived here with Jennifer, he really wasn't much looking to go traipsing back through the mountains. Casren wasn't hungry, and he wasn't cold, and if anything he was overwhelmingly curious about what was behind The Impervious Door. He gave it a long stare.

Wait, was it looking at the drill?

His earlier scouting hadn’t truly been met with astounding results, albeit he had noticed something quite interesting in the distance. And that had offered a profound impact upon arrival to the door. They were not alone. Others had gathered at the door, rendering this quest of Christopher’s quite null, in a handful of aspects. Events had seemingly transpired in their absence, important information likely missed out upon before their arrival, and even Christopher himself made it quite apparent that they, those who'd joined him, needn’t proceed onward if they found it unnecessary.

And Vegeshin found it just that. Unnecessary. Quite the collection of individuals had gathered, some having already left for whatever ongoing tasks were required of them. Some remained. An Aschen vessel loomed overhead, and then suddenly did so no longer. Various individuals dotted the area, despite many having left, and it left Vegeshin rather disinterested in the happenings from then onward. His task had merely been to bring individual A to location B. And that had been fulfilled; contract completed.

Before any could question the lavender eyed, violet tressed, individual, he casually defied gravity. “Keep your pay, Christopher. As I mentioned earlier, t’was an obligation to fulfill. Stay safe, and enjoy your further adventures.” He offered with a mild smile and a two fingered salute sort of wave. With that, he made his departure so as to not get drawn in to the convoluted nature of such an event. His duty remained to act as a paragon, not an adventurer.

Integra appeared in a swirl of silvery light, nanite swarms pouring out of the rift he'd created and settling like a gloss on his jacket. Eight undead monstrosities, each an amalgamation of different creatures sewn together, then augmented with cybernetics, stepped out of pitch-black rifts of pure night. With a free appendage, they each saluted their Captain and fell into formation behind him, their various weapons at the ready.

It was crowded here, much more crowded than it had any right to be. "Ello, ello, my duckies! My name is Once Dread Pirate Captain Integra Blackheart, no relation, and I'm here to fulfill the prophecy." One of the servitors dropped a cask of femtites, which rose up and surrounded the Captain creating an imperceptible swarm of femtometre sized robots that formed a bubble around him. "I trust we are all ready to begin?"

Dear Mr. Kanahashi

It was how all of her letters began, much more informal than she really felt. Writing letters wasn't really something people her age did, but she had kind of romanticized the idea of having a pen pal, someone she could confide in, especially in those early days of starting high school where she struggled to find her place.

As the letter explained, she had started out by joining the anime club, and left almost as soon as she found out there were no other girls in it. Fortunately since then she had fallen in with a new crowd, a group of sporty girls who she at least kept her from being a loner, even if she wasn't really into sports like they were. She just happened to train and exercise and they did too. She would usually sit in silence thinking of the now distant days of the Kanahashi fan club and sharing fics and art. No one around here really got it. They were all too judgmental... or too weird! But outside of school life things seemed to be going well.

Seemed to be.

I've been training at a martial arts academy for a few weeks now. My Sensei there put me onto my own special training. I think it's because I'm no good at fighting the other students. He has me hitting one of those spinny poles with the wooden sticks. I think you'd really get along with my Sensei. You should visit sometime to make sure he's teaching me the right things.

I'll write soon!
-Yuki Nikka

Her letters always ended like that, with a small hook on the end half-asking him to come visit. She was never so bold as to actually ask, as she was absolutely sure he was flying through the galaxy fighting evil and doing heroic stuff, and she was just... just...!

Well right now she was alone, late at night, walking the streets on her way to the playground she always liked to visit. It was a straight walk from where she lived at it gave her a chance to think over things that happened. A bruise sat on her right cheek under her eye she was going to have to hide with makeup in the morning, but that hardly bothered her. She barely noticed when her shoes crunched on the sand of the park, not stopping until she met the jostling chains of the swing set and dropped down into one seat. Try as she might, she couldn't keep her ears from drooping.

The life of a paragon is fraught with obligation, and danger more oft than not, and for Vegeshin that proved no different than any other self-appointed heroic individual. He spent a wealth of his time tackling threats, possible threats, and even inklings of threats. But not always did he find himself overwhelmed by his duties. He did find time off to enjoy life, his days or evenings, and time to break open various texts, novels, and a myriad of study material, or so he considered historical documents to be. He always sought knowledge, and any means to grasp knowledge. What better way to learn about the macroverse around him than to read about it? And whilst history can be written to be one way, collecting a vast array tends to peel away the falsities of either side leaving the core central information he could consider truth.

Among all of that reading material, though, he relished a certain set of documents. Documents grounded, and more informal than formal. Personalized ones for him, and him alone. Whilst he never managed to find the time to write in return, both because of time itself, and because he felt the distance kept her relatively safe from any potential dangers that may have loomed, or still do, over his head. But he eventually found time to write her something in return, but for this it would have to be something special. He had orchestrated a scheme so grand, he couldn't help but grin as he lingered in the sky above her; she hadn't much changed her routine in all these years...but she, certainly, had changed herself.

"She's grown..." He murmured to himself with a mild pang of guilt pulling at a chord; almost as if a father who hadn't seen his child in years, a regret welling. Another reason he'd distanced himself. He'd become attached to the young girl, and attachments were always both a strength, but very well a weakness.

Ever so silently, his figure drifted downward until his toes gently rested upon the swing frame above; still out of sight and not a sound made. Instead, he let a sealed letter fall from his hands downward upon the ground for her to grab. Hopefully, rather than look up to see where it had come from, she'd open it; seeings as it had been addressed to her.

Yuki Nikka

Inside read as follows:

Dearest Yuki,

It's shameful I don't keep in contact as oft as you do with me, and I apologize. I do read every letter you send my way, and I can see you've come quite a long way in pursuing your dreams. I'm delighted you've found a place to train, learn, and pursue your passion; I can only see you making progress. You're a bright, diligent, girl with a fierce spirit, and I know you'll do great. This sensei you mention seems to have noticed that if he's hand picked you specifically for unique training. This training apparatus you speak of seems reminiscent of a wooden dummy. Perhaps a Mu Ren Zhuang used for Wing Chun? I'll certainly do my best to visit so I can meet this Sensei of yours.

By the time you receive this, though, I'm sure you'll see me not long after.

-Vegeshin Kanahashi

He'd done his utmost to keep the reading short, but long enough to warrant a well designed distraction, the last line meant to make her wonder to the point she'd look around. Were she smart enough to look up, she'd find him balancing perfectly atop the swings upon the frame with a light, welcoming, smile and a small wave; his outfit updated and more depicting of prominence and elegance.

Dearest Yuki
That got her attention immediately, eyes bulging and ears perking upright and alert as she snatched the letter from the air and began reading feverishly. Eyes adept at seeing in the low light of night time and trained with a hundred fanfictions darted back and forth taking in all of the words. This was the best thing that had happened to her... All year!

Oh nothing could ruin this moment, absolutely noth-

Her head tilted upwards to where he stood and her jaw hung open. Almost immediately her ears sunk again as she realized the purplish blemish on her face would be obvious, though... maybe he would just think it was from training? She wrestled with these thoughts and the emotions for several moments, a struggle of happiness and sadness dancing across her features before one finally won out and her head tipped back down to stare at her feet.

"Mister Kanahashi, why'd you have to show up now?" she asked.

Her heart throbbed in pain and her gut twisted sickly. She felt like a disappointment before he arrived, but now he was here she would have to tell him. Her head tilted back up to look at him. There were no tears, but her face looked apologetic.

"I'm happy to see you but..."

In silence he carefully watched as her expressions, or what little of them he could manage to see, suggested an amazing wealth of jubilance at the mere fact he'd returned her letter with one of his own. He couldn't help but display a smile at such a treat. But it all seemed to change; morph and turn, the moment she glanced upward and her face faltered; that innocent cheerful nature of hers he'd remembered fondly draining away like color from a frightened face. It didn't take but a moment for him to make out the plum colored discoloring on her cheek beneath her eye and his own smile waned some. Her words didn't help to lift his spirit, either.

His arms casually rose to rest beneath his chest, as he'd become accustomed to doing so long ago, and a single step gingerly brought him earthbound for him to lightly whirl on the spot to face her. In times before, he'd have kneeled down to match her height, a sign of respect, and yet now...he needn't not do so as she'd grown considerably.

"Please, call me Veji. Mister Kanahashi just doesn't roll off of the tongue right..." He offered with a mild smile. "Why wouldn't I show up now? It's been so long, and your last letter spurred me to finally carve out time. I'd visit more often, but my duties are consuming." He explained, only to lift a brow. "And you're happy to see me...but?" He questioned, casually squinting a bit.

"Perhaps...a bad time?" He inquired, nonchalantly reaching out with his index finger to point at the discolored splotch on her face. "I may not be around all that often, and I might be lousy at keeping in touch; but you can always talk to me about anything. Or, we don't have to talk about it at all until you're comfortable." He murmured, unsure of how to go about such a thing. He did want to know what could have possibly happened, but he didn't want to force it out of her. "You're free to tell me how you've been, and what you've been up to. A bit more in detail, since letters are only so long and can say only so much." He offered with a bright smile.

Despite the condition of her bruising, he still couldn't help but smile. He'd missed her, surprisingly enough. As one would miss their child. He'd become attached to her, and such wasn't a normal thing with him. Reaching out, he gently tapped the tip of her nose with his index finger and offered a bright smile. "Most of all, though, I have missed you. And you've grown so much..."

When he repeated her words, her head tipped up, half on her way to explain the issue. "...Veji, I did something that I'm not-- young," she suddenly blurted out. Eyes settled on his face and she could see... Well. What the heck had happened? Wasn't he more... There was near utter confusion crossing her features, arguably almost as much turmoil striking her as what set her out here in the first place.

A fingertips slapped to cover her lips and everything seemed to be looking up for a moment. She immediately averted his gaze, cheeks going red with her ears constantly folding back and forth between flat on her head and standing upright, occasionally peeking out from the corner of her eyes at him.

But then he poked her nose and that was just too much. She practically jumped in her swing-seat and arms flailed at once to swat at his hand, until one managed to get a hold on it and wrapped around, tugging to the side. She silently watched her own grip, letting it linger for a moment with an uncomfortable throb in her chest.

She was... Confused. Very seriously confused.

Was he flirting?!

She suddenly shoved away with her hands. "Mister Kanahashi I hit my father!" she shouted all at once, eyes clenched shut and rising to stand with her hands thrown to the sides in angst and anger. She wanted to cry. She wanted to feel sad. But admitting what she did, why she was here and what was weighing her down, it just made her feel so hollow.

Prepared to listen in full, he casually let his arms drift to just beneath his chest, knitting themselves into a contemplative, folded, position. As she began, he lightly canted his head to the side, only to blink a few times in vague confusion as she seemed to jumble her words. "You did something that...you're not young?" He murmured in a mild stupor. And then her gaze settled and lingered. In most cases, Vegeshin could be considered extremely astute and intuitive to a variety of situations; this didn't happen to be one of them though. Her odd behaviors flung him into varying degrees of confusion and misunderstanding.

Being swat at and then suddenly tugged along by his hand over to a slide only compounded his confusion. She came off, suddenly, like a giddy school girl; in which she did happen to be a school girl, but the giddy silliness seemed a bit too much for him, especially the moment she shoved him away suddenly blurting out her sudden guilt.

His lips pursed for a moment and he found himself awash in a convoluted mix of emotional pondering. She'd hit her father? But, then why did she have a bruise all her own on her face? Had she reacted in defense? Or had she instigated and found herself on the receiving end of something? Questions, plenty of them.

"I see..." He began, offering a sigh. "Did you apologize?" He questioned, only to reach out and tilt her chin upward some, so as to get a better glance at the discoloring beneath her eye. "And where did this come from, exactly?"

It was like a pit in her stomach that was just getting deeper, the hard truth boiling up to the surface. But if she couldn't tell her hero, who could she ever talk to about it? Ears were all but flat on her head as she fought through the weight in her belly just so she could get some words out.

"I ran away," she admitted. She didn't want to also admit that she was probably going to go back. What choice did she really have?

"Dad drinks, He's okay when he doesn't drink, but when he does... Mom usually keeps him away from me but I thought with all the martial arts and training I was doing..."

Her voice cracked and her lower lip trembled, so she took a few steps to the side, away from Vegeshin. She couldn't look him in the eye and say this stuff. It hurt so bad.

"He hit me first. It's not the first time," that was easy to admit.
"But I hit him back. He fell completely over. Everyone was so shocked. The look on mom's face-!"
Tears stung at her eyes but she bit her lip to push through it.
"And it's not that I hit my father or upset my mother or that I got hit or that I ran away from home," she continued with droplets leaking down her cheek.
"But its that I used martial arts f-for the wrong reason and I'm a disappointment."

It was hard for her to admit that. In a lot of ways, she thought it was hard because he would hate her. He would think she was childish. He would think she was stupid. He would think she was a bad kid. He would disapprove of her turning a fist against family unjustly. He would tell her this was why he didn't want to train her in martial arts. That she wasn't cut out for this path in life.

But the reality was, the real reason it was hard to admit was because it was how she felt about herself; a disappointment.

To everyone.

The expressions that fell upon her visage echoed the solemnity and welling sadness that sat in her vocal tonality; she appeared deeply bothered by all of this. And it resonated inside of himself. How? He couldn't be sure, just yet, but he felt it had to be something a bit deeper and more convoluted than the connection he shared with her, however menial it may have been at this point in time with his distance.

"..."

No words were spoken, initially. Instead, he listened. He listened as the damn began to crack and break, and then the words continued to flow forth; one phrase after the other; mirroring the tears that ran down her cheeks as she went on. She distanced herself from him, but he remained in his place. A whirl of thoughts fluttered about in his head, jumbled and cluttered. He, a Paragon, didn't quite have the words for such a situation. A hero who couldn't fulfill his obligation, duty, and calling.

At this moment, he couldn't be the hero he wished he could be, to take away all the bad; vanquish it and give her absolute peace of mind, and body, free from harm. Instead, he could only remedy the situation. Surely, never a fool, he knew heroes existed in all variants.

"I see. And because you used martial arts to defend yourself, you feel guilty that you've misused them?" He questioned, suddenly taking a seat on the ground, beneath her level rather than equal to. "We're all mortal, in some form. I'd use human, as a blanket statement, but..." He softly smiled. "Anyway. Martial Arts exist as both a discipline, and a form of self defense from harm. To use them in defense is appropriate. To use them as a means to harm, or cause pain, for no other reason...that is a grievous misuse of them." He explained softly.

"So, Yuki...do not be disappointed in yourself for that. You're not a disappointment. I'm just glad you're alright." He continued, realizing he could no longer tiptoe around the prime concern of the subject at hand. "Your father, on the other hand. He seems to have...a problem." He began, and then mildly grumbled, and grunted, unsure of how to go about such a task.

For anyone else, perhaps this would have been a bit easier, not entirely...but just a bit. For Vegeshin, who'd only really ever solved problems with fists, or wit, or both...this problem lent itself to being a bit more tender, and fragile. And so, he did the unthinkable and relented. Submitted, really.

"And I don't know what to do." He began, his smile wavering. "I can be here for you, though, if you need. I...my hands are tied. I can't swoop in and beat him up, nor can I drag him from your home." He explained. "Through proper channels, I'm sure things can be resolved. I have no authority anymore here on Terra as I used to. I'm technically a vigilante, and therefore a criminal myself."

And then he offered an outstretched hand.

"But if you don't feel safe returning home, I'm sure I can find a place where you will feel safe. We can at least start there. Be it the old loft home I have down town, or even a shelter if you'd prefer that..."

Tears drizzled and dripped down her cheek hitting the ground beneath her feet with a small splash as she listened in silence (other than the occasionally sniffling breath) to his words. She wanted so badly for these words to matter to her, to have a big impact and a deep resolution to her life, it was coming from the man she aspired merely to be a student of! But they didn't. They just washed over her like the condolences anyone might give. He was offering to take her away to his house.

At first the sensation left her numb, both inside and on her lips.

"Vegeshin-" she started, then forced up a smile and shook her head, letting the last sparkling droplets shake free of her skin.
"I'll be fine. It's not the first time he's hit me. I... usually have a bruise or two I have to hide, even other times we've talked," she admitted.
She gave her face a rub down with her arm, clearing her eyes and exhaling out the pain she felt. Actually, his words had made her feel a lot better. Sure, she still hoped, dreamed of him being her senpai, but... maybe just this once she would be happy to have him comfort her as a friend.

"You don't need to do anything. You're already here. Maybe I didn't use Martial Arts wrong. I don't know. He's my father but..." she shrugged, "I should know from the Kanahashi family that sometimes your family isn't good."
Hopefully that wasn't too personal for her to say.
"Um, hey! Why are you so young?" she added to hopefully change the subject.

A frown danced along his features. The difficulty of the situation presented itself then and there, in that very moment. Time had become an enemy. She'd grown, changed, and the intricacies of growing up had left him daft. Had this been years prior, he likely could have remedied the situation rather easily, but now...not such an easy task. He found himself wanting of clearing her tears, but chose instead not to, already realizing his emotions toward this young girl needed to be curbed at some point. He truly felt a parental bonding sort of nature when it came to her, and it frightened him. And yet, perhaps that could be the best route to run.

Before he sought to answer her question, a sudden stern look took residence on his visage.

"Dearest Yuki..." he began, softly, his eyes suddenly searching hers. "I don't recollect if I've ever had time to tell you a story, a personal one that is." And then he found himself shifting into a more comfortable position. "Roughly a year, or so, after I had my son Vexion, my wife Maielle was soon to give birth to our daughter." He explained, softly smiling. "We couldn't really agree on a name, and so I simply relented and gave her the entirety of the choice. Miari, she was to be named." His face turned sour with a twinge of grief. "But it wasn't fated. My history, my bloodline. Sometimes things catch up with you, and so we...I lost her, and Maielle, that day." He explained, reaching out to place a finger to her upper chest.

"And...so one day I meet an over exuberant little half-neko girl, who talks and talks..." He chuckled. "And seemed to be a little bit of a pest at first! I know, I know...I'm sorry, and I whole-heartedly take it back as of today..." He prattles. "But I relent, and I get to know her, and eventually warm up to her." He murmurs. "And now, she manages to fill a void I didn't think really possible." He finished, retracting his finger. Hands upon his knees, he slowly rose back to his feet. "I've been distant, and again I apologize for that. But I want you to know that, you're always somewhere on my mind." He uttered, offering a smile her way.

"And that's why I want to tell you that, a father should always love, and cherish, their children; son or daughter. I'd never once strike my children in anger, nor hostility. No parent should ever do such. And as a child, young or not, you shouldn't tolerate such. It's immoral, unfounded, and simply not acceptable." With a firm nod, he couldn't help but add. "I say this because I care about you, and your well-being."

With a quirk of his brow, finally, he addressed her question, a slight smug grin on his lips. "Still curious about that, hm? I figured that's what that was about earlier. Your confused face. The sentence slip-up." A few fingers rose at this point to shuffle a few locks of his hair around in thought. "It's a long story, but...bad family stuff? Some divine, magical, pool of something or other. And pafoom!" He exclaimed, wiggling his fingers in a mystic gesture. "I'm late twenties, or something, again...I think. At least that's how it feels. Maybe early thirties? Physically, that is." He explained with a definitive head nod.

At the end of the day, Yuki was a good student. She may not have had the will and intent to strike and harm with martial arts, but she had listened and learned and practiced and could still do martial arts, and do it well. And so now that he was talking to her, imparting wisdom like the elder sensei she imagined him as, she fell back to her more studious nature and listened. What she had expected to take away from all of this was a lesson about dealing with your troubles and growing from them.

Instead what she got was something akin to horror. Dread filled her stomach as he slowly unveiled his true feelings for her. In his mind, she was not a student to be trained, she was not a young woman growing into her maturity, she was... A daughter?! She put on a brave face but she was internally screaming. She wasn't even sure she could manage to voice a 'thanks' to him without her lips and tongue utterly failing into incomprehensible nonsense.

Thank GOD he went with the topic change.

"Twenty-something huh? You're back to being a bishie!" Yuki declared excitedly, only for a sorry sort of sigh to leave her lips as she dropped back onto the swings. A small kick sent her rocking back and forth. "I kinda wish the Kanashi fanclub was still around. Everyone would die if they heard that! I tried starting a tumblr, but after everyone went to different highschools everyone kinda just..."

She shrugged. She didn't really begrudge her friends for it. They weren't all in the one place to share stuff. They all had their own new friends who weren't into anime or the Kanahashi's. The creaking of the swings hung in the air for a moment as a slow feeling crept onto Yuki.

"When did you leave home? Like... When did you know it was the right time to go? Did you leave your friends behind and go adventuring? Cuz', the fanclub knew a lot about you from police reports and stuff from when you came to Terra, but nothing really before. This is kinda the first time I'm hearing some of it."

Sharp eyes followed her movements as she took to the seat of swing again, lightly swaying. He couldn't deny being confounded though at the term she'd dropped, leaving a quixotic look on his countenance. What the hell was a bishie? He chose to shake it off, with a swift motion of his head, rather than address it. His arms found rest upon one another as he took up the folded gesture he'd been most notorious of in all his years of living.

"Mn. Yes, I'm physically young again. I'm not sure if it's permanent or temporary, though. Only time will tell..." He began, before flowing directly into his next set of words. "And on that note, time changes things. People grow, and relocate, and sometimes fall out of contact with one another. It's a lesson on life, I suppose. Growth, change. But it's always best to remember those bonds, and cherish the memories they brought you. Throughout life, you'll forge more bonds, and create more memories, and those bonds may hold true, or they may not. It's fine to reflect on them and feel sadness at the loss of them, but it's also better to recover from that sadness and remember the joy those bonds brought you. The memories. And the lessons. And grow from them. It's also wise to forge new bonds, so you can forge new, joyful, memories." He explained with a nod.

Her follow up question, though, seemed to be a tad bit more difficult to answer.

"When did I leave home?" He murmured, a somewhat disgruntled expression nestling itself onto his visage. He suddenly took a seat beside her at that point, casually swaying alongside her, if only to humanize himself a bit more. What a tricky subject.

"I didn't really leave home by choice. Where I come from..." He began, pausing briefly to find the right words. "Evil is evil, despite whatever veil you cross. Whatever world, or universe, or realm...or whatever you'd call it. It's essentially all the same. Bad people, or monsters, can be found wherever you look." He finished, at least his train of thought on that perspective thought. "My world was destroyed by an evil tyrant, and my parents sent me offworld, along with my siblings, so that we could survive." He explained, coming to a stop on his swing.

"I grew up on a foreign, distant, planet, with only my brothers; no friends. I did leave them behind, at some point, because my heart, and soul, cried out to me; told me to venture forth and discover the world. And so I did. I journeyed. I was still very young, though." He murmured, a light smile on his face. "I didn't realize the impact it would have on my siblings. It became a sort of catalyst...for Kazura, really." And then he shook his head. "But my story is long, and tiresome, to really delve into so profoundly. At some point I met a man, and soon after he became my mentor. And then I met the woman who'd eventually become my wife. I took chances, and forged bonds, and then found some of them severed by my choices, or outside choices I had no control over."

He fixated his gaze onto her at that point. "But I really don't enjoy much of my story. It's not really one many would enjoy telling. It's been marked by strife and riddled with consequence, as most hero's stories are." He added.

"Why? Considering an adventure, Yuki?"

As his story began, her swing stopped, feet flat on the ground to keep her still while she clung to the chains that kept her seat suspended from the ground. There was a look of compassion in her eyes as she watched him, listening to the keynotes of his life up until she found him and subsequently met him. Despite how little he shared, it spoke volumes about how much he must have experienced. Her mind reeled with the stories and adventures he may have left scattered throughout the galaxies.

It took his question to shake her out of her pondering.

"Huh? Oh, no, I was just wondering what made you, you. Nyaaahhh..." she suddenly let out a very feline expression as she kicked with both heels to send her swinging again, "It sounds silly but sometimes I feel like I don't belong here. That no one would miss me if I left."

She was moving with the swing, building up momentum with each sway, her eyes staring off into the distance.

"I know mom would be sad, and dad too, should I stay just for them? They don't understand me and what I want to be. None of my friends at school do either. And I've tried looking for someone, anyone around here who can help me learn martial arts or get better at who I am, but after an entire year everybody who tried to help just disappeared or never really helped me at all!"

Passion was stirring in her, passion she didn't realize she had for the topic. How did he hit home so hard with such a simple question? Why did not going on an adventure seem like such a challenge? She wanted to grow dammit! Why was the universe doing nothing to help her?! With one final swoosh past him she reached the apex of her swing and left her seat, hurtling through the air and coming down gracefully on her feet, barely stirring the ground where she landed. Her chest pounded for a moment, heart thumping in her ears. She could do it.

She could go right now and never look back.

"Mr Kanahashi, I think I need to go home now."

What a profound statement or, better yet, could it be considered a question?

"...just wondering what made you, you."

He continued to listen to hear, although not as astutely as he should have. Still, he had no issue processing everything she'd been saying. But he found himself focusing more on that one phrase, despite how silly one could see it. What made him as he sat there now? Time and time again, he'd thought it all revolved back to being a paragon. A virtuous liberator of the innocent. Fighting tyrants, and freeing those unable from the injustices they faced, no matter how bleak the outcome appeared to be. But it never fulfilled him. He certainly took joy in acting as a beacon of hope to the hopeless, and felt warmth in accomplishing his good deeds, but it never filled the empty void that constantly protested within. And so what made him?

Tragedy, misfortune, and self-obligated purpose. He persistently endeavored against the grain, fighting the current and struggling against the tide.

"I can feel your sentiments..." He murmured. "I felt something similar myself in my youth. I still feel something akin to that, to this day." He continued, in reference to her feelings of misplacement. His brow drew upward, though, when she mentioned her inability to learn martial arts. "But...I thought you mentioned in your letter that you'd been studying under a mentor?" He began, only to smile. "I suppose it may go without saying, but...you could have always asked me via letter. I'd have been, and would be, more than willing to teach you what I can."

He watched her sail through the air, landing gracefully without so much as stirring the ground beneath her feet. She held high promise, but upon hearing the way she spoke of needing to head home, his instincts told him otherwise. He rose to his feet, at that point, and, with nuanced steps, came within arms length of her.

"Well, if that must be so...I hope to see you again soon, as I plan to stick around for a bit." He lightly murmured, reaching out in an attempt to draw her into a light, yet warm, embrace; short and sweet before he'd let her free to her own devices. "Be safe."

Yuki turned around to face him. More and more it felt like things had been falling into place in her life and making sense as this conversation went on.

"I don't think I'm ready to be trained by you," she said, and then hesitated.
She didn't want to say it, but harder words had to be said before she left.

"And if I'm to be honest, Vegeshin-Sama, I don't think you're ready to train me either. It's why I have to go home. I need to get away. From... This."

She gestured, not to him but the area between them. She couldn't really explain what it was she needed to get away from, but in a way she understood that defining her journey by trying to appease him was the same thing that would hold her back. Hopefully he understood it too, but there was nothing she could say to make it better if it hurt him.

The hug didn't make her blush shyly like the schoolgirl she was, cause any squirming or even prompt her to push away like it might have in the past from embarrassment or other overwhelming emotions. Instead she returned the hug, a tight squeeze not unlike the glomps he was threatened with in the past.

"Oh Mr. Kanahashi, I'm going to miss you, but I promise I'll still write."

And then it was over. She let go, physically, metaphorically and took one step away to look up at his face. She had run out of things to say, but where ugly tears had run down her cheeks before now sat a small, content smile. When he next saw her, when she next saw him, things would be different. She let the look linger a few moments before she nodded at him, and walked right on past in the direction home. It was a strange feeling. She felt like she had just said no to everything she had ever wanted, but felt more mature for it. The world loomed ahead and she felt so much bigger and braver now.

A wooden cart rolled slowly into view, its old wheels creaking slightly. Two shimmering blue outlines of horses could be seen pulling it; it was obvious to any who studied spell craft that they were creatures summoned from the otherplane. Two girls in their mid-to-early twenties sat atop a pile of crates. One had curly brown hair and was dressed I a leather breastplate and long sleeved cotton shirt as well as leggings- travel gear, clearly. The other was wearing similar clothes, despite having a different color of shirt, and had white hair and red eyes. Both had their hair in messy buns and looked sleepy, as if they had recently woken up. In the front section of their cart was filled with leather bags which a black cat slept against. As the strangers made their way closer, the heavy magic odor made clear the enchantments on their weapons and wares. The brunette leaned over and kissed the white haired one on the nose, causing both to giggle. It was hard to decipher whether this confidence of security was warranted...
