Physical Description

Venlak goes around wearing his flashy clothes and glasses. Ven likes running his hand through his blondish hair for no reason. The glasses are intended to hide his eyes, which seem all too lifeless. Age; 308 (Flipped) {He lost count after that}
-
Height; Six foot one- 6'1

Venlak took his time walking around. But those doors. The daring doors. The doors of daring doors. ~DOOR OF DOORS!~ He was joking in his mind. Why not be drawn in, look around... Have fun? He was tempted. Very. ~I shouldn't... But I want to. I could die. But then again, what could happen? DEATH! Oh well.~ Ven pressed his hand against the door, taking off his shoes. They made squeaky sounds which would give him away. ~One two. One two. One-~ He quietly opened the door, peeking through the slight crack. He noticed the room.

{
There were TVs, video games, DVDs, and various advanced lab equipment and lighting, but there were also old things. The desks looked like they were at least centuries old.
} The old things were what caught Ven's attention. "I haven't seen anything that old in a while." He muttered quietly to himself, getting lost in his thoughts as he looked across.

Ven then saw a bookcase filled with old tombs and notebooks. ~What could be in those notebooks, or what would be on the tombs?~ His mind raced with the possibilities.

Quickly rushing through the door, he closed it almost as soon as he entered. Even if Ven wanted to, he wouldn't be able to notice if anyone was in the room. "I-" He rushed over to the bookcase, speeding through the notebooks. He didn't misplace it. He tried not to anyway. A rack that had various staffs, wands, and such on it, and also possessed many cloaks soon dragged Ven over to it. "So much." He forgot where he was just by getting lost in thought. "So much..." His voice drifted off as he turned to see a room which stood out.

{
Food
} Was the only thing Venlak read before approaching the door. ~What could be behind such a door of mysteries? What lay beyond here?~ Then he read the rest.

{
Test Subjects. Stealing is punishable by becoming a test subject, death, torture, or all of the mentioned options.
}

Now it felt like it was daring him to enter. He wanted to, badly. What would be the state of what's behind here? Why were there test subjects? It plagued his mind too much. He rattled on the door, trying his best not to open the door. It was like a taunt. He wanted to enter, but what if he became a test subject? Or killed?

He'd have to take his chances...

Akio had ended up falling asleep for a bit of a nap, possibly because of his young body even though he could stay awake for a week straight if he wanted to, taking off his pants and just diving into the bed. Normally he would take off more, but he thought someone might knock on his door with news about what he had asked for the party: Dragon Meat, two thousand year old wine, those gummy bears that everyone loves but no one seems to be able to get their hands on, despite the fact they are still being produced. That and much more, so Akio wanted to get some rest, but did not want to have to get completely dressed before answering. And if someone barged in, he would just beat them up and do something or another.

But that did not stop Akio from getting annoyed when he heard someone enter his room and prowl around. This was his room after all. And what if Akio had been sleeping naked? Well, there were the baths, and his body was that of a ten year old physically, but he still disliked this massive breach of privacy! And did this guy forget that vampires tended to have excellent hearing? He could hear the shifting of books, and other such things. As Akio was just getting out of his oversized bed, he then heard something unforgivable...the sound of someone touching the handle of his freezer.

"Initiate Protocol Alpha!"

He shouted the command, and then suddenly two large golems decloaked next to the freezer and surrounded Venlak. But that was not all. Automatic Turrets also appeared from the ceiling, and would target Venlak with pinpoint accuracy. To make it more extreme, Akio himself was now standing inbetween Venlak and the exit. He was still only wearing a T shirt and boxers, but he was also wielding the Wand (Staff) of the God Nightingale. His Golems were also agile and flexible, not to mention accurate themselves. Akio had designed them with the intention of making sure they would not accidentally damage anything.

"Are you an idiot? Did you not read the signs? Who the hell break's into a child's room anyways?!"

Actually, Akio was probably older then the person who broke in. He stopped counting age a long time ago, and only get birthday cakes that had the age he turned at. Of course, he only still celebrated for the cakes and presents. It was the only reason he still remembered the day itself.

"I do hope your ready for punishment!"

Venlak jumped so far his head hit the ceiling. "Oh hey." Ven spun around as he hit the ground. ~Kid? Signs? Child's room?~ Ven stuttered severely. "I- O- I- W- I mean that. I didn't know this was a kids room. Um. Your room?" He found it hard to believe a kid would take interest in such old things. Or any of the things he saw. "I- I can leave." Ven pointed to the door behind Akio. "I mean, I didn't know this room was occupied. Kinda?" He took a tiny step forward, then a tiny step back.

"W-well. I could..." Ven didn't know what to say to the... Kid? He cleared his throat. "We could act like this never happened? Punishment sounds a bit harsh, doesn't it? Maybe a reward for leaving and never returning?" Ven laughed awkwardly as he then looked at the security measures taken. "I was debating whether I would open the big door but I see that I've decided no."

He was trying so hard not to bust out laughing in such a weird situation. The Kid looked like he was gonna kill him but it looked so funny. ~Maybe he's in a forgiving mood? Probably not.~

"I mean, it'd be a shame if I took up your time for the upcoming ball wouldn't it?" Ven soon smiled awkwardly. "You're a smart boy... Man. Guy. Dude. Person. By what you've collected. I myself have quite a large collection of things of old. Maybe we could switch out sometime?"

Venlak ran his hand through his hair, wondering what he got himself into. He couldn't bring himself to ignore temptations to enter a room. But it also seemed that his adventuring days would be over. Why must they end so quickly? Well, not too quickly. He forgot how many places he'd been to so maybe this would be a good end? What could possibly go wrong? Death? It then crossed Ven's mind that this kid might be a sadist. "But we can talk this out. Maybe come to an agreement?" His words were all over the place.

Akio smiled with a rather innocent, childlike smile that one might think he was happy...however, the atmosphere around him was filled with so much bloodlust even professional killers might get overwhelmed. Furthermore, Akio's sheer presence was starting to become overwhelming. So that innocent, childlike smile....could be felt as extremely scary.

"Given what experiences you have, I am going to guess that even though I am a kid, you are at least two to three centuries younger then me...."

Suddenly, out of his staff and every corner of the room, dark tendrils appeared and moved towards Venlak. They also closed the doors and blocked the exits, and the windows and doors themselves became sealed in a magic barrier Akio had developed. It was reinforced too, and had multiple layers. The room was already similarly shielded, but the doors and windows required activation for obvious reasons.

The tendrils would move and try to bind Venlak from being capable of moving on his own, and would drag Venlak towards an experimentation table. If they got him on it, the table itself would then also restrain him, and it was designed to hold things much stronger then vampires. The room itself was already made impenetrable, so the table was also made to hold even gods.

"Now, today we have some choices you see...I was curious if this new organ I developed, an artificial organ that combined technology and magic, would work as I wanted it to. This one will increase your healing ability, and also make you slightly more resistant to the sun. I think. I need to make sure it wont make the user sick though. Oh, oh wait! Why not use you to test out some archaic spell! Or maybe, I could give you a new drug I created to improve vampire resistance, and then force you to remain in the sun to see how effective it is!"

Akio had oh so many lovely ideas. But probably not for Vel. Vel would need to beg just a bit harder, or offer him something, to get him to tone down.

Venlak chuckled quietly. "Come on. What do you want? You have to want something. I mean, I'd like to stay as I am seeing how I can handle the sun perfectly fine." Venlak struggled to get free. "Cookies and ice cream? Something dating back to an ancient war? Something embued with energy that you could never dream up in your wildest dream? I know a guy who knows a guy. I can get that." Ven was pulling out whatever he could. "Something to... PROGRESS your research? Harness energy to block out the sun? I can get this stuff man." The charade which Ven kept up was quite pathetic, to be honest.

~What did Akio want? There had to be something!~ "I can get you a test subject. Someone who'd be willing to go along. Come on! We can sort this out, can't we? I wouldn't have come in here if I saw the warning or whatever it was on the front door. There can't be anything you're looking for huh?"

Venlak paused with his rambling as he thought of something. "Why would you need test subjects... Unless you are still trying to perfect something? I- I mean, like I said before. I can get you a willing test subject. He's pathetic, really. But he can also endure a lot." Ven kept rambling and rambling, he was hoping something he said would catch this Kid's attention. Not that he was scared or anything... He'd just like to keep all of himself intact with nothing placed or tested on him.

"I swear, whatever you're looking for, I can get it. Trust me!" Ven was truly pulling himself deep into his pockets. "What about... Stuff from an entirely different universe? Someplace that doesn't connect with any known universe because it can't? I'm a collector. I can get... collector... Stuff. Things." Ven kept talking he wasn't sure which one of these would get this Kid's attention. "I'm pulling everything I can think of. I mean... I really love the two words; I mean. Anyway, I mean, can't I get you one of these? There has to be one of these things that caught your attention... right?"

"Voyons, laissez-nous voir" Akio spoke, in some rather nice French. "Châtiment....ah, I'm sorry. You don't speak French, do you?"

Akio just gave a wry smile as he came over, while Ven was being held down and was unable to move. "Listen, its unfortunate for you that you happened to be the first person to break into my room. You see, I do have to set an example after all. Now...if it makes you feel better, I won't be cutting you open today!"

This was the first time someone entered his room without invitation, or it being an emergency...well, sometimes some of the maids did to wake him up, but they had received permission to do so. Therefore, Akio had to set an example. That said, he didn't want to risk killing the guy right off the bat either, thought that might be bad for him.

And so, Akio took out a book, drew some blood from Ven, and put it in the book, before placing it back on a nearby table. That was actually a book that let him summon duplicates of whatever he put the blood from into that. It was also Soul-Linked to Akio so only he could use it.

And then, he took out another book and a staff. "I have decided what I am going to do to you. Now, you might have some unpleasant experiences after I test this spell out on you. It has been untested so far, because I need a target for the effect, and of course its hard to get volunteers to test it out on. So thank you for 'Volunteering' for this. Now...."

And then, Akio chanted the spell. "Glaoim ar na biotáillí neamhghnácha, cónaí taobh istigh den duine seo, déan an t-árthach atá i bhfolach air agus gníomhóidh sé leis na mortals, agus lig sé le réimse an duine leis an gcosc seo." (I call upon the unholy spirits, dwell within this one, make him the hidden vessel that will act with the mortals, and let him traverse the realm of man with this cloak of concealment!)

Once the spell did take hold, what would happen is that the target would first feel intense pain and agony, enough that his screams might be heard from anyone in the area. At the same time, his body would appear to change slowly...indeed, although he would still smell of vampire, the magic took away the paleness of the skin, performed some other maintenance, and while it was all very painful, if one was the type of vampire who no longer had a heartbeat like most, they would feel the unpleasant, agonizing experience of their heart beating inside their own chest.

And yet, the vampire fangs were still there, as well as all the abilities. That is the effect shown by anyone who would be hit by this spell. Although any vampire or experienced individual would easily see through it on close inspection, from a distance it would be able to fool even the eldest of vampires.

In other words, the spell was a concealment spell to let vampires have a better chance of hiding among mortals.

Venlak could feel the spell... Concealment... thing... working. Through IMMEASURABLE PAIN AND AGONY. Nothing he wasn't too unfamiliar with due to his days in a war. He struggled and screamed out in the most horrendous pain. "I always did hate little magic books!" Ven tried to grab anything to direct the pain onto. "That's dirty! Doing that to me as I'm withheld!" All through his painful screams too. Although he wasn't unfamiliar with this much pain, it was a long time since he felt such pain.

He felt exhausted. Almost to the point of fainting. If he had something to direct the pain onto, maybe he wouldn't be so exhausted... But that was life. An annoying thorn in his side. But hearing his heart pump like it was in his ears was a feeling he dearly missed. "So I guess this is the best you could do... A concealment type of spell? I've run into something similar but a bit more painful. Just used on the opposite effects of what you got there." And what he meant by opposite was that the book would turn you into a vampire permanently. "I'll be sure not to break into your place again," Ven said before coughing. "I know what could happen to me." His knees got wobbly, causing him to drop down. "It took a bigger toll on me than I expected."

Ven soon after smiled goofily as he looked up at the "Kid". "Don't assume what my experiences are. You'd be surprised at what I can hide and fool people with." He grunted to stand up but failed. "It's nice to see that your research can permit such an outcome though." Then Ven just went silent from exhaustion and talking too much.

Akio, who was still smiling, patted him on the back. "Since you were the first, I needed to set an example...well, also you touched my freezer without permission after entering my room without permission, so yeah. Now..."

Akio snapped his fingers, the doors to his lab flung open, and then...

Akio literally kicked him out of the room!

"Next time, I will take your arm. Now, I need to go finish taking my nap. Do keep in mind that you appear mortal in a castle full of vampires right now. Il leave it to you to explain this to them! Try to put me at fault though, and I will remove all your organs next time and replace them with magus tech that might explode!"

Saying that with the expression of a cute, sweet innocent child, Akio smiled at him, before closing the doors...

A rumor would be circulating around the castle later that there were two large doors with a warning sign on it, that absolutely should be respected.

Akio smiled, sitting in his bean bag chair that might seem out of place, but somehow the atmosphere around him indicated something else. From what he was hearing, it seemed that things would be going in a way desirable for him. Public acknowledgement gave him the ability to run large labs without having to move around a lot, and secrecy would let him get the harder to access items and ingredients he needed.

Indeed, if one wanted to be technical, they could say that Akio had always been operating in both the day and night, given his constant desire to get more test subjects and keep a supply of fresh blood.

"I for one, find this proposal to be quite agreeable. After all, we cannot just submit, go back to hiding and waste all this effort, but we also cannot forget our roots, our heritage".

Incidentally, Akio was actually one of the oldest vampires present, well over one thousand years old. Because of that, there were a number of younger vampires that looked older who, despite hte way he acted, treated him like a superior already due to being alive for so long.

And of course, he also had three servants that came with him, his most loyal retainers.

"As for the traitors, if you could so kindly bring them to me alive, I would be happy to make good use of them. After all, getting test subjects is something I always could use help in".

Showing his fangs in a smile, he looked around at the others and he raised a glass of blood.

"After all, we are the Detente, the Masquerade, and whatever we wish to be. Our public goal is equality and respect, but everyone here should not delude themselves. Our private goal is quite simple, we take what we want, and we keep it no matter who tries to get in our way. We are a greedy, gluttonous people who simply wish to fufill our desires".

Although some might feel chills go down their spines when they heard Akio speak like this, one couldn't really say he was wrong either. And yet, one might just get the feeling he had more desires then most.

This was the best day ever.

Terun returned from The Piata with a grand purchase. He rushed up the stairs to his room, blasting past anyone and everyone, nothing but a black shadow. Slam! The boy flung himself on the bed. He furiously tore at the ribbon. Tissue stuffing flew into shreds!

The package fell away as Terun held the music box aloft. It was as beautiful, if not more, than it had been in Hollowed Goods. The silver gleamed in the eternal candle light of his room. He set it carefully down on the bed before him. Terun ran his cold and dead fingers across the edges of the box.

Then, he flipped it open. A haunting tune filled the room.

So happy was the vampire boy with his music box. The long dead witch Nerissa Ravencrest had been with the boy from the moment he set his hands on her music box. Nerissa invisible floats though the boy's room taking in the sights. "Castle Vankoryth... such a place for me to explore..." she thought. But first to have a little fun with the new owner of her box. With a quick wave of her hand the music box slammed shut...

Nerissa would wait until the boy went to check it out before with another wave opened it once again the creepy song starting up where it left off.

Terun's smile disappeared when the music box slammed shut. He didn't command it to shut. Why did it shut? He leaned in close, jumping back when it flew open and almost hit him in the face.

"Hey!" Terun frowned, realizing the temperature of the room had shifted. Colder. He peered into the box, but found it empty.

Nerissa looked up and down the hall such a huge place... she could use a guide... if the boy vampire would play along.

A figure would step into the room escorted by two finely dressed armed knights bearing the Lessard Crest. Although dressed modern, she had what could almost be called ancient eyes. Each step was purposeful and direct before she came to the table and spoke in an English Accent, "You all of you lack decorum to not invite any of the Lessards to this shambles you call a meeting. Well, fortunately, my schedule is not full and also because this needs to be addressed." she indicates to her Knights to remove their helmets before turning her red eyes to Zosimos, "You really thought we would not find out? You really thought you could end one of the oldest Hunter Lines without consequences? I would ask if you are just dimwitted or just a fucking spastic, but I know why you did it and finally, you are reaping what you sow."

She would gesture for one of the knights to speak, "Sir Lauden, you tell these cretins please what you were told." the Knight nodded approaching the table, his very presence regal, "As I explained Dutchess Hazel, one of the Thralls informed us that the girlfriend of Maria Van-Helsing has been encouraged to take up arms by another. We do believe they intend to end this experiment."

The red-haired girl with such fiery barbs laughed darkly, "I do believe a human expression comes to mind here. The chickens have come to roost. Zosimos as representative of the Lessard Family it is deemed your offence is so great and endangers us all that you should be made to answer for this slight. Thus I call for Noctem Judicii where you will be able to answer for this insanity and prove whether you should be spared. If you refuse..." she paused turned to the Knight said something in French before seemingly agreeing and remarking, "Then by Decree of the Lessard Family you are exiled for your crimes against our kind and the utter reckless endangerment. To think Casren put you in charge, and now you bring a war to our kind." scowling she draws out a handkerchief and blow her nose before continuing, "Daemala Tauvyr as the actual leader of Detente you must understand what he did endangers our kind?" she asked her voice suddenly gentle even adorable, "Who will second me so we confirm this and move on to more important affairs?"

Zosimos began to laugh, but a swift motion from Daemala's gloved hand had his building roar silenced in an instant. Her gaze flit around the room, resting on the Ulrich. Terun, however, sensed something very familiar about the Lessard newcomers. He stuck to his spot and silence, wondering why he was awash with such an uncomfortable feeling.

"Ridiculo-" Hissed Zosimos, cut off in an instant and frozen on the spot. The only part of the old vampire which remained mobile were his eyes, locked in an instant with Ulrich. The two were engaged in an internal power struggle. Ulrich could keep Zosimos still, but not for long. Several members of the Forces Vankoryth entered the Room of Reason, positioning themselves around Zosimos, ready to engage. They nodded at the Knights of the Lessards, granting them permission to intervene if necessary.

"A trial," Daemala was doing her best to hide a smile. Just minutes ago Zosimos held the floor. She would have to play her cards carefully so as not to lose what favor he gained.

"A trial. for indeed the reason for our return to the Masquerade and the reason for all of this toe-tipping, the very actions of you. Zosimos," She turned to face the room, no longer hiding her grin. She first addressed Akio.

"First, we, of course, must present a trial. After which, I trust, you have a system ready for what to do with those found....guilty, yes?" Daemala next looked to Lacroix, "As soon as you have a list of these fugitives, the damage doers who hide in our dark asylum, we will begin taking action. Ulrich and Reisel, you will assist Prince Lacroix in whatever he needs so that damage must be undone."

Ulrich had turned a new shade of pale, both him and Zosimos quivering. Daemala took her seat, having said her bit and wishing to get on with it all already. There was a quick scuffle as Ulrich released Zosimos, and he was apprehended. It would take a close observer to see the syringe as it released into Zosimos, doing nothing aside nullifying his shapeshifting and shadow-blending powers. It would last long enough to get him to containment.

Obscenities were spat, a chair was sadly broken, three tapestries hit the ground ripped, and Terun didn't come out from under the table until the door had shut on Ulrich, Zosimos, and his escorts.

"What about the dinner party?" Terun asked quietly. Daemala ignored him and took her leave, curtsying the royalty and giving respectful nods to the rest. Everyone could sort out whatever from here, she assumed. All she cared was that she was recognized as the leader of the Vankoryth Detente, pesky Zosimos was out of her way, and there was dinner party that needed a change in arrangements. On her way out she nearly toppled over a courier, who had a note regarding a new energy disturbance somewhere in the Cursed Wood. Daemala could scream.

Daemala Tauvyr arrived and had a seat before the golden envelope. It was a delight they had arrived on time! She didn't trust her messenger, despite being a fellow member of the Detente. He was a slimeball. Smaller than she had expected. When she picked it up it was the right weight. Pretty heavy- but lighter than the full order. Manik had followed his instructions, for once, all except one detail.

The envelopes were supposed to be silver.

She took in a deep breath and leaned back, one hand slowly migrating to the other. She absentmindedly twist the ring. Zosimos was in custody, and she was the Queen of the Vampires. A laugh escaped her lips. Casren was gone. She didn't get sad.
The castle was hers to rule!
...duh.

Daemala sliced open one of the envelopes with a stiletto nail colored blood and let it fall to the table. Out she fished a gold piece of starched fabric, which served as the invitation. It was impeccably embroidered with flowery lettering. She held it delicately aloft and grinned. Oh, this was going to be lovely.
