Victoria Edwards strolled through the front door tentatively, looking quite a bit out of place. She had ‘dressed down’ but for her that meant a gauzy off the shoulder top thrown over a lacy camisole and a pair of impeccable designer jeans. Her honey brown hair was set in loose waves about her shoulders and her eyes, the strangest shade of violet, cast quickly about the room.

She had come to Wing City for a job and her manager had suggested she go find something to eat, to mingle with the locals since she would probably be here for the next month or two, at least. Yet as she looked around the light crowd, she half-wondered if she shouldn’t have just stayed in her trailer. Where there weren’t… demons and snakemen.

Victoria Edwards wrinkled her nose in disgust as the large demon summoned a man for the soul purpose of eating him. Her face blanched slightly at the sight of someone being decapitated right in front of her but when she turned her widened eyes to the rest of the patrons she realized no one else cared. What sort of place was this?

Victoria Edwards flinched slightly as the demon looked her way, his eyes unblinking as they met her own. She had no idea how to treat demons, it hadn’t exactly been one of her lessons in Wing City culture and customs, that was for sure. So she stared back for a moment, unsure of what to say.

“How can the patrons here not care if you summon someone and murder them in public?” It was a honest, if naïve question. How did the authorities not lock him up? Could they even lock up a demon? So many questions.

Victoria Edwards furrowed her brow, trying to put the demon's story together in her head. "You execute? So everyone you have murdered has done something worthy of death? Like this is some sort of real life, in your face, version of Hell?" For some reason, she wasn't worried about the large demon that was towering over her, instead curiousity outweighed any sense of terror (though he was quite terrifying) and she asked yet another question. "And if this is your... job, we'll say, then why do the authorities try to lock you up? Especially if, as you say, there are more people around here that eat humans?"

Victoria Edwards allowed herself to smile slightly. "My name is Victoria, or Tori if you prefer nicknames. This is my first trip to Wing City for ahh.... work. It's quite different from where I come from so I'm curious, thus the questions." As she stood there, studying the demon, she thought about his explanations for his actions and his overview of life.

Her eyes swept over to the dramatic scene at the bad and her lips quirked as she asked the Demon Lord, "Is it always like this?" Light laughter followed the question before she added, "It's like a very odd soap opera."

Victoria Edwards laughed again, shaking her head. "Not in the least, it just isn't very interesting." She had honestly always hated her job but it paid quite well and usually had reasonable hours as well as the random business perks of free travel, etc.

She switched the topic easily though, focusing the attention back onto the demon. "So why do you come here to Gambit's if you have free reign over an entire realm?"

Victoria Edwards wrinkled her nose once more in disgust as the Demon summoned a creature that was more hideous than any she had seen before. As she averted her eyes, she noticed a clock hanging upon the wall and saw that she was about due to be back on location. Her lunch hour had been spent interrogating the poor demon instead of actually eating. Oh well, at least she knew a bit more about the city that she was going to call home for the next few months.

As she let her eyes once more linger upon the demon, she smiled pleasantly and inclined her head towards him in a sign of respect. "Well I thank you for answering my nosy questions, Demon Lord. Don't worry though, I won't take much more of your time. I have to return before my manager has a snit fit." Laughing, she waved her hand towards the demon, noticing that he seemed to be focused on something else now anyway. "Enjoy your brief moment of reprieve, Demon Lord." She said as she turned, walking back out of the door and onto Main Street.

Victoria Edwards slipped quietly into the bar, noting the odd tension that seemed to permeate the atmosphere. How odd. Her manager had deemed this a tavern of debauchery and good will but the first and only other time she had set foot into the establishment she had seen arguments rivaling the best of soap operas and a malicious demon popping human heads into his mouth. Now, after threading her way through the tables to reach the counter for a drink, she realized the reason for the lack of joy- Soldiers.

She sighed softly, rolling her eyes as she cast up a silent prayer for the bar to remain neutral. The last thing she needed was to be caught in some half-assed bar brawl between half drunken warriors. As she lifted a touchscreen tablet, she held it at the right angle so that its reflective surface showed the room behind her, allowing her to keep an eye on the other patrons as she ordered herself a martini.

Victoria Edwards followed behind Minerva as the young girl waltzed into Gambit's, catching the door with her foot to hold it open. Her torso was turned slightly and she shook her umbrella free of rain before closing it and drawing it inside. Her violet eyes scanned the crowd as she pushed the handle inside of the umbrella and wrapped it tightly, laying it on a small table by the entrance to let it dry.

It was a bit busier tonight than it had been most other nights that she had visited, though she didn't know whether that was a comfort or not. Tonight she felt like a strong drink, not drama and every time there had been more than two people in this room some sort of soap opera had taken place. Drama, violence, you name it.

Pushing her hair away from her face and removing her rain coat, she hung the sleek designer frock upon a hook by the door before traversing the room and finding a seat at the far end of the bar. Well-manicured fingertips easily punched in an order for a margarita and she folded her arms across the well-worn counter as she awaited her drink.

Victoria Edwards cast her gaze from left to right, noting that she had picked a seat between someone that looked mere minutes from death and a half-snake half-man giggling like a cheerleader on the phone. Her brow arched slightly in both surprise and amusement. Not only were there snake-tailed men but they apparently made booty calls.

As her drink was placed in front of her, she smiled at the server though she doubted it would appreciate the gesture. Wrapping her slim fingers around the stem of her glass, she took a small sip first, then a much larger one before exhaling softly. "Definitely what I needed...." she murmured softly.

Suddenly, the man to her left, Andrey sprang up from his huddled stance and began kicking back drinks like a pro. The young woman eyed him more suspiciously, worried that he was drinking when he already looked like Hell warmed over.

Victoria Edwards leaned back slightly as Andrey confronted her, obviously she had allowed her gaze to linger on him for too long and he had perceived it as an affront. Her fingers coiled a bit tighter around her glass but she tensed her back, unwilling to be cowed by a half-drunken man. "Are you sure you should be drinking?" she asked, her tone a bit crisp though devoid of an actual accent, it hinted at something slightly British.

Victoria Edwards turned her attention to the naga, Templewick, offering a half laugh at his slurred question and shaking her head. "I am fine, thank you." Ever polite, she smiled as he went on to tell her that he felt fine and she added, "Indeed.... " in a softer tone.

The man on her other side, Andrey seemed to have delayed reactions and apparently the snake-man agreed.

"Drunk assss fuck that one." He said and the irony of the situation had her laughing again.

Waving a hand towards Andrey she did the unthinkable, she apologized. "You're right. It's a bar. Drink up." He seemed to be focused on her one moment then his eyes would glaze over slightly, making her think that he had faded from reality. "It seems to be doing wonders for your mental state."

Victoria Edwards smirked slightly, a little worried that teasing this poor man verbally was going to send her to Hell one day. "Yes, quite fine. I bet your liver is running at perhaps 70% and your vision is a bit off but who cares about those things when you're... " she paused, trying to recall the phrase that Andrey had used, ".... Chilling out?"

As the naga chimed in, she raised her free hand, palming her face slightly though she tried to make it look as if she was merely rubbing over her eyes tiredly. What a pair these two made. Perhaps since they were both half-lit, they wouldn't even realize she had threaded slight condescension into her tone and she decided to play nice from that point on.

Hoping to distract both of the men, she raised her glass and shrugged her shoulders slightly. "Cheers, then!" Lowering her glass to her lips, she swallowed a good bit of the margarita, wincing at the acidic blend as it hit her tongue.

Victoria Edwards watched as Andrey rose and headed off towards the bathrooms, leaving her with the large drunken snake-man. "Yes, some people can't handle their alcohol quite as well as you can. You probably shouldn't challenge anyone to a drinking contest for fear of accidentally killing them." She laughed once more, setting her drink to the side since she believed she was done for the night. Just seeing Templewick and Andrey drinking themselves silly had changed her mind about having a drink or two so she rose from her seat and stretched her arms slightly to the sides.

"I think I will head back for a bit of shut eye. It was a pleasure drinking with you," Victoria smiled at the snake-man, realizing briefly that she hadn't gotten a name from the gentleman but finding it too late to do so now. "Have a pleasant night," she bid him adieu, then turned to walk across the bar. Gathering her rain gear, she donned her jacket and pushed through the doors with her umbrella in hand.

Strutting into the bar with a slight air of superiority, Victoria cast a quick glance about the emptied room with a furrowed brow. Empty? Gambits? Really? Her manager had told her that this place was one of the local hotspots with amazing brews and addictive barfood. Surely it was some sort of practical joke because she saw, well, nobody. Still, she had walked all the way here and she wasn't about to head back to her cold and lonely hotel room this early so she continued her path through the tables and chairs haphazardly strewn about the room on her way to the bar. The stools were surprisingly clean and she still wiped her hand over it before sitting down. Her violet eyes searching for some sort of server or menu or.... anything.

Victoria Edwards laughed to herself as the man spoke and his easy going tone of voice was enough to make her reply. "Hip?" she said, her British accent fading quickly from her time in town but still noticeable. "What? Do they have live feed of the bar scene or would they have noticed our arrival from outside?" Her tone was teasing and her posture relaxed, she tapped in her own order for a Sex on the Beach before laying both of her arms loosely on the counter in front of her and turning to stare at the woman that Judas had gestured to.

As soon as she was done inspecting the other girl, she turned her gaze to Judas and repeated the lengthy once-over with him as well. It was quite a surprise that she hadn't seen him at her most recent shoots, either photo or movie, since he looked the part. "My name is Tori," she offered easily enough, "Who might you be?"

Chuckling lightly at his smooth lines, Tori couldn't help but be amused. The last time she had come into the bar, she was told that she had a 'hot ass' and the man had offered her a place to crash for the night. It was good to see that not all people in Gambit's were jackasses. "A window, you say?" She looked around the room quite dramatically as if searching for such a thing before Judas pointed to the thin slit that looked more as if the building hadn't been centered properly from one floor to the next and she squinted briefly at the 'window' before shaking her head. "Pity, I was expecting more like a glass storefront, really. I mean, how can we lure people in from the streets with our good looks if they have no way to witness them?" She winked at the man then turned to the bartender as her cocktail was finally delivered, sliding a 100 credits to the robot.

Her first sip was delectable and though she had decided to go slow on the alcohol tonight, she couldn't help but down about half of the glass before finally willing herself to release her grip on the beverage. Judas spoke again and she laughed, nodding at his guess about her being a model. "That, a bit of acting. Right now we're actually shooting a Thriller, if you can call it that. I miss the old school horror movies.... But it brings in the money, you know?" Resting her chin in her hand with her elbow propped upon the table, she looked over Judas again before venturing a guess of her own. "You aren't a model though? I'm quite surprised. So... let me guess. Ahhh fitness instructor. Mountain climber." With that form he had to do something to keep himself in shape and he didn't seem the army/cop type.

Victoria Edwards burst into a slight bout of laughter at his suggestion to sit outside and smoke. "Ahh yes. I have to admit I'm unused to acting like a pretentious cock and for some reason I think you'd fail at it as well." Her perfectly manicured fingernail traced around the lip of her glass as he spoke and her eyes narrowed for the briefest, almost unnoticeable, span of seconds when he admitted to being a professional dancer. Though it wouldn't be because she disliked dancers or thought they were below her in any way. Instead, she was slightly jealous. She had an unnatural grace when walking but that was about it. If she tried to dance it would be the epitome of hilarity because she looked like a wounded violet-eyed gazelle trying to prevent an oncoming seizure.

So, she was quite blunt when she asked, "Why would I think any less of you for being a dancer?" and her tone sounded genuinely confused as she took another sip of her drink. "What kind of dancing do you do? Ballet, tap, jazz, swing....?" The grin that curved her lips was prominent then as she tried to indentify his form of dance then another question surfaced, barely related to the topic at hand but that didn't seem to matter to Tori, she brought it up anyway. "You know, if you modeled you could earn some cash that you could then shuffle into your studio. I have a shoot next weekend that is for a Fashion mag and they're always looking for pretty boys. I could toss your name into the ring if you're interested." She didn't know why she made the offer but the man was, indeed, a sight to see and as far as she knew the magazine hadn't really found any local talent for their shoot so they were considering shipping in foreign models.

Blinking at his admission, Tori studied Judas again, her interest piqued since the specialization of pole dancing hadn't even come to her mind. Perhaps she was as close-minded as other people were and whenever someone mentioned poledancing she thought of some seedy strip joint where a barely dressed girl swung around a pole to rock music. Then, the image of a barely clothed Judas popped into her mind and she would have seemed to blush if her cheeks hadn't already been colored by the ingestion of alcohol. Instead, she mutterd a soft, "Huh...." before he could switch topics and she wrinkled her nose. Speaking about her work wasn't the most exciting thing but a lot of people asked about it so she didn't want to seem rude by ignoring his questions. "I started off actually at Convention and Trade shows." The tone of her grin changed and she almost seemed sheepish or embarassed before continuing on, "Now I do a bit of everything. Commercial work, some runway but mostly for benefits, and a bit of glamour modeling. No high fashion yet."

As Judas ordered another beer, she added in a request for a second cocktail as well, drawing a card from her pocket and tapping it against the terminal to begin a tab. Without even asking, she placed Judas on her tab then sat back down, sliding the card back into her pocket with a pondering countenance. "Bizarre resume, hmmm? Anything relating to modeling so I can add that to my litany of reasons why you should be allowed to work the shoot, then?"

As Judas fiddled with the interface, trying to find music, Tori tapped a finger against her lips, still thinking about something or another. "You're normal. Aren't you?" The question would have sounded utterly insane anywhere other than Wing City but in this town she had learned that there were few people in town like her. Simple, normal humans with no crazy powers or magic or demonic lineage. Then, as if the Fates read her mind, an odd little lizard-like humanoid clambered into the bar, falling over himself time and time again before finally righting himself.

Her eyes widened slightly as she redirected her attention back to the pole dancer. "So, Judas, what drew you to Wing City? Did you grow up here?" Her violet eyes scanned the screen as he searched for a music option and she took the opportunity to finish off her first drink so she could start in on her second cocktail.

Victoria Edwards started in on her second cocktail and was 1/3 of the way through it by the time Judas even started speaking. "A couple of years...." she mused out loud, wondering what it would be like to stay in a city like this for that long. "Y'know... Until a few months ago I would have sworn that all of this was the stuff in legends, stories and movies. Sure there are a bunch of similar creatures spanning completely different cultures that had no way to communicate with one another so that was a bit of an oddity but I n-" she hiccuped and her hand fluttered to her mouth as she laughed to cover the sound. "Oh my.... But I never thought any of it was real until now."

The lizard-like humanoid creature was beginning to get belligerent, redirecting her attention for a moment as she shook her head in amazement. "The first night I stumbled into Gambit's I ran into a man with a snake tail and a crazy guy hopped up on drugs, I think. Most surreal experience of my life."

Victoria Edwards shook her head at Judas even as she mentally flipped through the random bits of news and gossip she had heard throughout the month. "No, a ball? Are we talking Masquerade?" She grinned at him and took another sip of her cocktail, thankful that the music was drowning out most of the other noise in the bar. Unless people were within five feet of each other they wouldn't hear anything but old school tunes. "I've never heard of a community ball. Do they do things like that often?" Her eyes met Judas' for a moment as her lips pursed slightly. Why hadn't she heard of a party? Surely someone on set would have mentioned it even if it was just in a passing comment.

"Are you going?" She asked before her mouth/brain barrier could kick in. Of course he was going, he was the one that mentioned it, right?

Victoria Edwards laughed heartily, spinning her glass around on the bar as he spoke of the party. "Wow, you really should go into PR. I bet tons of people will show up at the old fogey party if you keep talking it up like that!" She managed to stifle the giggle that threatened to come out of her mouth by taking another drink and her head tilted to the side as she tried to envision the event. "So, what are we talking about here? Security, pretty gowns, free finger foods that may or may not include pot brownies...." She cast a look at Judas and grinned. "No fights, though. Perhaps someone will stage a dramatic event there! It can become like a 90's high school flick where two lovers go all Jerry Springer and smack the crap out of one another in the middle of the dance floor!"

Her violet eyes twinkled with humor as she then caught on to the part where he mentioned being paid for a date. "Ah, and you're an escort too now?" Patting his shoulder, she affected an empathetic tone as she said, "Don't worry. We'll find you a nice wealthy woman to take you to the ball."

Victoria Edwards laughed and since she didn't know who the Montesquieu twins were, she automatically pictured them to be a couple of hot blond bimbos with money to burn. Oh how wrong she was.... As she lifted her glass, about to take another swig of her cocktail, she came to the realization that it was empty and decided that her night had come to an end. If she had any more to drink she would be in no shape to work tomorrow. "You should auction yourself off," she offered as she hit a few buttons on the terminal in front of her, closing out their tab for the night as she stood up, swaying a bit. "That way no one can pretend to be mad because they can bid whatever they can afford and it isn't your fault that they're poor! Then you also get a boatload of cash so it's win-win!"

Beaming, proud of her idea, Tori patted Judas' cheek lightly. "I am heading back to my hotel. It was a pleasure to meet you, Judas! I will see you at the ball if I happen to find myself a date." She gave a quick wave before turning and walking out of the bar, truly astounded that she had found a semi-normal person in Wing City.

Looking as fashionable as ever, in s sleek black dress and matching stilettos, Tori swept into the room with barely a sideways glance at any of the other patrons as she made her way to the bar. She was only here for a nightcap before heading back to her hotel for the night, after all. Not for any of the drama that involved speaking to the other patrons. As she slid onto a barstool, she crossed her slender legs gracefully and tapped in an order for a Fuzzy Navel. The drink was the epitome of girlish cocktails and she didn't care one bit. They were fabulous and tasty.
