Winter Sakkio

"Juuuuuust passin' through!"

0 · 1,054 views · located in Fuchsia City

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by NeverEndingFlip

Description

Name: Winter Sakkio

Age: Sixteen

Gender: Male

Weight: 165 lbs

Height: 6'2"

Hair Color: Snow White

Eye Color: Crisp Blue

Skin color: As Caucasian as possible.

Apparel: Often wears a long sleeved white T-shirt with blue jeans with standard shoes, socks, and unmentionables. He tends to take a simplistic approach to style, meaning that's all he wears for the most part. His only accent is a necklace with a blue water drop, signifying a potential preference to Water-Type Pokemon.

Personality: Winter is calm, cool, and collected. While he speaks with directness in battle, he will often talk softly and confidently to other people. His youthful appearance as well as his overall neutral demeanor gives the impression that he's relatively inexperienced. When looking at a person with his blue eyes, most people always get the impression that he's looking through them, like he's in their head somehow viewing their thoughts and planning around them. He's relaxed towards life and tends to enjoy the philosophy of stopping and smelling the roses.

Personality: The Pokemon that forms the closest bond with Winter, Lucky was Winter's starter and together they've been through just about everything on his adventure. Winter and Lucky made the joint decision not to let the Squirtle evolve. Winter made that decision because he loved his starting Pokemon just the way he was and it also brought along a Facade for Lucky to hide behind during battle. Lucky agreed because he didn't want to change into what he believes to be the Brutal Blastoise and also because he enjoys the rides he takes on Winter's back and doesn't want to lose that. Lucky is a very smart Pokemon. He is often independent in a lot of ways and in many ways, the relationship between him and Winter is a mutual partnership in terms of battle. Lucky understands why Winter chooses what he chooses in terms of moves, but if he knows it's a wrong choice, Lucky will adjust on his own. For the most part, Winter is okay with this.

Moveset:
Hydro Pump- (Water-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The foe is blasted by a huge volume of water launched under great pressure.
Iron Defense- (Steel-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Move. The user hardens its body’s surface like iron, sharply raising its Defense stat.
Aqua Tail- (Water-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. The user attacks by swinging its tail as if it were a vicious wave in a raging storm.
Surf- (Water-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. It swamps the entire battlefield with a giant wave. It can also be used for crossing water.
Blizzard- (Ice-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. A howling blizzard is summoned to strike the foe. It may also freeze the target solid.
Brick Break- (Fighting-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. The user attacks with tough fists, etc. It can also break any barrier such as Light Screen and Reflect.

Abilities:
Torrent- Powers up Water-type moves in a pinch.
Rain Dish- The PokΓ©mon gradually recovers HP in rain.

Personality: Flow is one of the three Eevees Winter found during his travels and is the second one to evolve once Winter managed to find a Water Stone. In Winter's primary set, he will often switch between Flow and her other two Pokemon brothers. This keeps challenging trainers on their toes as they wonder which two of the three he'll bring out in each round. Flow is very affectionate towards Winter as he saved her and her brothers' lives. Because of this, Return hits very hard. She is often the most affectionate one, so Return hits the hardest with her. Extremely territorial when it comes to Winter, she finds trust issues in those that hurt him and will likely guard any human Winter chooses to let close.

Moveset:
Return- (Normal-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. A full-power attack that grows more powerful the more the user likes its Trainer.
Scald- (Water-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The user shoots boiling hot water at its target. It may also leave the target with a burn.
Rain Dance- (Water-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user summons a heavy rain that falls for five turns, powering up Water-type moves.
Acid Armor- (Ghost-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user alters its cellular structure to liquefy itself, sharply raising its Defense stat.
Muddy Water- (Water-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The user attacks by shooting muddy water at the opposing team. It may also lower the targets’ accuracy.
Aurora Beam: (Ice-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The foe is hit with a rainbow-colored beam. It may also lower the target’s Attack stat.

Abilities:
Water Absorb- Restores HP if hit by a Water-type move.
Hydration- Heals status problems if it is raining.

In Winter's primary set, he will often switch between Hyper and his other two Pokemon siblings. This keeps challenging trainers on their toes as they wonder which two of the three he'll bring out in each round. Hyper is the jumpy one of the three and is often seen running around. He is very affectionate towards Winter for saving his life as well as the lives of his siblings. Because of this, Return hits much harder with him. Hyper may be the most gullible of the three as is too lovingly hyper when around any human. He is notorious for leaping on other trainers and tackling them to the ground.

Moveset:
Future Sight- (Psychic-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. Two turns after this move is used, the foe is attacked with a hunk of psychic energy.
Morning Sun- (Normal-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user restores its own HP. The amount of HP regained varies with the weather.

Dazzling Gleam- (Fairy-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The user damages opposing PokΓ©mon by emitting a powerful flash.
Psychic- (Psychic-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The foe is hit by a strong telekinetic force. It may also reduce the foe’s Sp. Def stat.

In Winter's primary set, he will often switch between Glist and his other two Pokemon siblings. This keeps challenging trainers on their toes as they wonder which two of the three he'll bring out in each round. Glist is the hardened one of the group as he is only loyal to Winter and Winter alone. He is very affectionate towards his trainer, all thanks to Winter saving his life as well as his siblings'. Because of this, Return is very effective with him. He often has trust issues outside Winter, his Pokemon, and his siblings. Keeping shy when others interact with him, he likes to lay from afar and watch. If Winter gets in trouble, Glist is only one leap away from going against anyone who dare attack him.

Moveset:
Return- (Normal-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. A full-power attack that grows more powerful the more the user likes its Trainer.

Personality: Rio is likely the meanest Pokemon on Winter's team. Winter is barely on Rio's good side himself as Rio likes to attack every Pokemon and human with full brutal force. He doesn't hold back and he doesn't give up. His headstrong nature keeps him from really changing much. Rio ended up in Winter's possession as one of the last Pokemon Winter caught in the Kanto region. It had taken the combined power of Flow, Hyper, and Glist to take him down on Mount Silver. To get on his good side, you have to prove your mettle against him.

Moveset:
Earthquake- (Ground-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. The user sets off an earthquake that hits all the PokΓ©mon in the battle.
Flamethrower- (Fire-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The foe is scorched with an intense blast of fire. The target may also be left with a burn.

Personality: Mane is by definition the odd duck of the bunch when it comes to Winter's team. While his team comprised mostly of Water and Ice Types, Mane was one of the weirdest friends Winter ever made. Winter was given him as a Cyndaquil by his first trainer who didn't want him anymore due to his utter hatred for Pokemon battling, not of Pokemon themselves. Surprisingly, Winter and Mane hit it off very well and he is now one of the regulars on Winter's front six as the plot twist for anyone who thinks they're fighting just a water trainer. Mane is rather lazy and enjoys laying on top of Winter when he sleeps, a habit formed as a Cyndaquil that he never grew out of. He is a fierce fighter, however, and protects Winter like a father protecting his cub. After all, he did take Mane in when no one else would.

Moveset:
Flame Wheel- (Fire-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. The user cloaks itself in fire and charges at the foe. It may also leave the target with a burn.
Inferno- (Fire-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The user attacks by engulfing the target in an intense fire. It leaves the target with a burn.
Swift- (Normal-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. Star-shaped rays are shot at the foe. This attack never misses.
Protect- (Normal-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. It enables the user to evade all attacks. Its chance of failing rises if it is used in succession.
Double-Edge- (Normal-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. A reckless, life-risking tackle. It also damages the user by a fairly large amount, however.
Solar Beam- (Grass-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. A two-turn attack. The user gathers light, then blasts a bundled beam on the second turn.

She literally followed them until Winter decided to capture her...just because she wanted to be. Since then, the two have always been together. Sumo's defensive capabilities are mightily impressive despite having nearly zero offensive capabilities upon catching her. But Winter was patient and more than willing to teach her. Now, she is often found as one of the toughest opponents to take down on his team. It does take a lot of food to sustain her, however!

Moveset:
Encore- (Normal-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user compels the foe to keep using only the move it last used for three to seven turns.
Power Trick- (Psychic-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user employs its psychic power to switch its Attack with its Defense stat.
Bug Bite- (Bug-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. The user bites the foe. If the foe is holding a Berry, the user eats it and gains its effect.

Toxic- (Poison-Type) A damage dealing Status Effect. A move that leaves the target badly poisoned. Its poison damage worsens every turn.

Personality: Derp is a Pokemon Winter caught just because he looked like fun. A great fighter and an even greater companion, Derp is one of the weakest members of Winter's group of Pokemon simply because he doesn't put him in battle enough. That's fine with the Quagsire, as he's not really up for getting his butt knocked around either. He's more like the mascot for Winter's team and his personality. Don't get him wrong, though. He'll fight if he has to and is still a fairly tough Pokemon to beat for anyone not expecting him. His charming and derpy grin has a way for throwing unsuspecting trainers.

Moveset:
Slam- (Normal-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. The foe is slammed with a long tail to inflict damage.
Surf- (Water-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. It swamps the entire battlefield with a giant wave. It can also be used for crossing water.
Dive- (Water-Type) A damage dealing Physical Attack. A two-turn attack. The user dives underwater on the first turn, then hits on the next turn.

Safeguard- (Normal-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user creates a protective field that prevents status problems for five turns.
Yawn- (Normal-Type) A non-damage dealing Status Effect. The user lets loose a huge yawn that lulls the foe into falling asleep on the next turn.

While Winter did technically defeat it in battle, he decided against catching it in fear of upsetting the balance the Legendary birds set across the land of the Kanto/Johto region. He also didn't want to catch a Pokemon who wasn't willing to join him and especially one that he wouldn't be able to strategize with. Instead, they became friends. At the call of a whistle, Articuno typically shows up to aid in the fight. Winter chooses to call him in cases of extreme emergencies that the Freeze Pokemon could help him in.

Moveset:
Hail- (Ice-Type) A damage dealing Status Effect. The user summons a hailstorm lasting five turns. It damages all PokΓ©mon except the Ice type.
Sheer Cold- (Ice-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The foe is attacked with a blast of absolute-zero cold. The foe instantly faints if it hits.

As the newest and the weakest addition to Winter's team, she doesn't exactly find a lot of love in anywhere except combat. She falls a bit on the mischievous side and enjoys playing cruel pranks on Winter and his team. While the other Pokemon ignore her or shoot daggers in her direction, Winter stares at her with affection, like he sees something more from her than her current behavior lets on. Meanwhile, Rio keeps the Weaville from going too far, typically in a brutal fashion. Weaville is the Pokemon that likes Winter the least, making Frustration one of his more powerful moves. Winter has still not decided a name for this Pokemon.

Moveset:
Icy Wind- (Ice-Type) A damage dealing Special Attack. The user attacks with a gust of chilled air. It also lowers the target’s Speed stat.

History: Winter was born ironically in the summer. Both of his parents are big in their hometown where his dad is an extremely successful scientist and his mom is the local Pokemon expert. They both primarily focus on Water-Types and wish for his son to be a dominant Water-Type master. However, Winter had somewhat higher ambitions. While he never wanted to lose touch with his roots as primarily Water-Type, he wanted to expand into something much more intriguing to him. At the age of ten, he got his starter, a Squirtle he affectionately named Lucky. Together, the ventured out into the world to achieve his ultimate goal, starting small and then aiming higher and higher.

High enough to become the champion, that is.

After a legendary showdown against Lance, the interim champion who took the place of Titania after she stepped down, he took him out using only four Pokemon, earning his place in the Hall of Fame and claiming his throne as the Champion of the Kanto and Johto Region. Since then, the year has passed quite smoothly for him as he was introduced to the Region in a new light. Apart from a spar with a Team Rocket affiliate in his hometown of Celadon City, a near death experience in the Ice Path that helped him befriend a Suicune, his travels through the Johto Region with a foreigner from Terra, and a showdown against an unlikely opponent that garnered another friendship, nothing of massive significance happened to the Region as a whole.

But that didn't mean he had yet to do anything. In a promise to Titania, the former champion, he went up to Mt. Silver and challenged the unshakable robotic figure only named "Blue". The two battled, but in an unfortunate incident, one of Blue's Pokemon disappeared onto the mountain. Stopping the match, Winter offered to help her find it, making an acquaintance out of the machine. He had also helped Touko and Fuchsia City's Gym Leader investigate a mysterious crime scene in which a place only known as The Reginald Estate was vaporized by a mysterious blast.

Since these adventures, Winter has proven himself as a face to the people he now holds a public office for and has earned their trust. He hasn't stepped into the national politics as of yet, however. He hasn't even met face-to-face with Grand Champion Iris yet, even though the door is open for him.

So begins...

"Lance, I hear you lose it one more time and I'm calling the match right now," Titania warned with a parental tone. "Yes, mother," Lance fired back, rolling his eyes like a beleaguered teenager. It was weird to see the roles reversed, to anyone watching. One more reason these battles tended to take place out of the public eye. Didn't want an audience to throw off one or both of these battlers from performing at their best.

"Ch-Charizard, return..." Lance seemed a bit weak at the knees from getting so thoroughly destroyed by this teenager. "I can't take much more of this, kid, but I'm not through yet...Garchomp, let's go!"

A blue-skinned demon with orange and yellow accents hit the field, an engine of destruction just begging for someone to flip the ignition switch...and Lance's rage was clearly enough of a spark. A terrifying scream, an unspoken promise of agony, was his message to Lucky.

"Garchomp! Use Earthquake!" Not even stomping the ground, just bellowing to the skies and channeling its power to make the ground shake beneath Winter's and Lucky's feet. The aftershock even knocked the Metal Mistress out of her chair, to say nothing of what it was probably doing to that poor Squirtle.

Did it really have to be overkill?

Winter felt the ground shake beneath his own feet as the Garchomp showed an accurate representation of what Lance must feel like doing right now. He wobbled a bit, but held his feet apart and steadied himself. However, he wasn't worried about his own health. He was worried about Lucky's.

When the dust settled and the ground stopped throwing a temper tantrum, Lucky was knocked out. That was obvious considering what he had endured. And once more, he didn't exactly have a PokeBall to keep him in. "Lucky..." he murmured as he walked out onto the field to collect his fallen Pokemon.

He wanted his Squirtle, his best friend in the whole wide world, to deal the finishing blow and claim the title for himself while Winter earned his at the same time. That was Winter's plan. After all, he deserved to do it, given everything they've been through together. Three years of bonding was a lot. Now, that plan was trashed. But he knew Lucky had done it for a reason. He didn't know that's what Winter wanted him to do. He was just thinking tactically as he always did.

And as he gathered the beat-up Squirtle in his arms and walked back to his side of the field, Winter saw his tactics. The pieces started to fit together, one by one, forming the big picture from here on out. Now he knew what he had to do and how to win. It would take everything they had, but he would make sure he was the victor in the end.

For Lucky's sake...

"Rest easy, buddy," he whispered in Lucky's ear as he set him down, "I'll be sure to win this battle for us. You did great."

Finally turning to face Lance once more, something else was there...a glint in his eye Lance would not expect given his lighthearted nature going into the fight. An edge of steel. Winter was ready to fight for it all, taking down Lance and earning his title. It was his destiny.

Fetching the PokeBall he needed, he stared down at it, running through what he needed to do over and over in his head, the layout Lucky had left for him. He took a deep breath, closing his eyes and taking in the atmosphere. It was time.

His eyes shot open, blazing with anger, vengeance, intelligence, and a cold calculating sense of intelligence all wrapped up in a steely stare. His arm shot forward, releasing the PokeBall, "Rio! Let's go!" His voice was charged.

Out popped the Aerodactyl, a mean, toothy snarl plastered permanently on his face as he hovered with his purple wings. He stared down Garchomp, likely unnerving it despite their similar size.

"Hit it with a Dragon Claw!" Winter commanded. The edge of fun and enjoyment was gone in his voice, leaving behind a strong and bold voice...the voice of a leader.

Rio obeyed, shooting off like a dart towards the Garchomp, it's claws shooting out of it's phalanges as it swiped at Lance's Pokemon.

"Yes. YES. That's it! Hit me with everything you've got! Only those who are strong enough to win get to make the rules!" Lance was loving this transformation, his taunts and attacks turning Winter into a lean, mean fighting machine. Titania's retirement had caused quite a stir, and the Indigo League was the laughing stock of the nation for not naming a true successor in a timely manner. Lance had been trusted with acting in her stead until such time as someone conquered the League...but this boy still wanted more. As Rio tore into Garchomp with insane speed, all it got was a cold, menacing stare right back. He was ready to give as good as he got. "Garchomp! Hit it with Outrage!"

The fire in the Dragon Master's soul seemed to become manifest, and hot flames of anger seemed to lick across his companion's flesh, whipping it into a savage frenzy before taking off vertically like a jet and slamming into the Aerodactyl at maximum force, even bringing claws and teeth to bear. "You know that a PokΓ©mon battle is tantamount to war! And war can be described as many things, but one of them has never been pretty!"

As for the woman off to the side, even she could appreciate how this trial had forged and hardened Winter in the right way, in a way she never got to experience. Not all ingots were of high enough quality to be made into swords, after all. And while her steel was left shattered in disgrace against an implacable foe, this boy--no, this MAN--would slice right through the challenges ahead.

Winter felt the massive hit Rio took from his side of the field. Outrage was a pretty powerful attack, he knew. It was likely that the Outrage was going to last for a bit as well. But he knew that initial Dragon Claw did an extreme amount of damage. He calculated another shot like that and his Garchomp would be done for, leaving only one more Pokemon for him to fight. And knowing Lance, it was likely going to be Dragonite. After all, he saved his best for last.

"Rio! Hit him with another Dragon Claw from behind!"

The power and ferocity of Garchomp could not be denied, but the speed and agility of Rio had yet to be matched as he easily got behind Lance's Pokemon and swiped it, the blow likely KOing it on the moment of impact. Meanwhile, Winter narrowed his eyes at Lance, an intense look hidden there.

"War? You think that's what these battles are? You think that's what I wage against you now?" his lip curled up into a sneer, "Buddy, I'm just getting my game face on. If I were to wage war, you would've lost already. In fact, you've already lost. Why? Because my bond with my friends are stronger than your infantry in your battalion. So why don't you recall your beaten soldier and hit me with the tank you've been hiding in that shiny red orb there?" He pointed at the Pokeball he had yet to unleash, "Seems like you've got no other option at this point."

Titania just groaned and put her head into her hands. The rest of this match was academic to her. Lance just snorted and looked to the side at the ex-Champion, really buying into his role, before turning back to the attitude-adjusted Winter.

"All right! I thought this would never happen! You've pushed me to the brink! Go, Dragonite!" Lance's strongest and most loyal companion hit the field before taking off, ready to dish the hurt to this uppity Aerodactyl in a duel of flying-types. "Teach him the meaning of true power! Hyper Beam!"

Again, that incredible energy being concentrated into one massive blast, this time strafing its head to keep up with the nimble fossil. This one had a few tricks it wasn't afraid to deploy if necessary.

Winter heard the groan and he turned towards the retired champion as she buried her face in her hands. At that moment, something snapped in his head.

He was on his way. The sun was bright and cheerful, reflecting Winter's mood that day. It was the day he started out on his journey, they day he turned ten. He had just waved good-bye to Celadon City, his hometown. His parents hadn't wanted him to go, but they knew he had to find his own way and make his own choices and so they let him. And despite their differences in opinions, his parents were at the front of that crowd who waved him off on his journey.

Walking along the Route 7 roadway, he couldn't help but stare at his new buddy by his side. Lucky was trotting along as he usually did, occasionally looking up to stare at his new trainer's face. They both were excited more than they were nervous. This was the start of their new life together...a new journey to partake in. Together, they would triumph over anyone who dared to step in their way! They would be the Champions!

As they walked, Winter started to talk to him, "I guess we should get to know each other a bit more. What's your favorite color?"

"Squir!"

"Blue, huh?" Winter rubbed his chin in thought, "What shade?"

"Squir, squir!"

Winter laughed, "That's my favorite too!" He in fact had no idea if Lucky's favorite color was blue or green or red or even dandelion yellow. He just found in comforting to talk with his new friend. He figured he'd work on communication later.

Lucky rose a brow in partial confusion, partial amusement. It appeared he knew what Winter was trying to do and seemed appreciative for the silly gesture.

"Hey wait!"

Winter recognized the sound of the voice immediately. Turning around in confusion, she saw the bouncing curls of one of his best friends running towards him. He laughed and waved to her, "Hey Amy! You came to see me off?"

She stopped in front of him, out of breath. But she did manage to make out her words, "You...me...battle...now!"

Winter tilted his head in confusion, "Battle? But you don't have a Pokemon yet."

"Or...do I," she managed a grin as she held up a shiny red orb of her own. Winter's jaw dropped.

"Oh man, that's awesome!" Winter pumped his fist in the air, "But how? Why?"

"I did a little bartering," she said coyly as she twirled her hair within her fingers, "Long story short, I have to mow our lawn until I can go out and start my adventure. But, I got my Pokemon early!" she held the Pokeball in front of her like it was a trophy she had won, "And now you can have your first duel against me, just like you always wanted!"

Winter turned to Lucky, "How about it? You want to go up against Amy's Pokemon?"

The glimmer of challenge in Lucky's determined stare back told him everything he needed to know...yes he did.

"Alright, I guess you're my first real Pokemon Battle!" Winter smiled as Lucky stepped forward, "By the way, which Pokemon did you get?" He had a feeling he already knew.

She made a sideways glance at him before answering, "I think you know at this point. Go Bonnie!" The Bulbasaur came out of the Pokeball and hit the ground in an arched stance. She was ready to fight.

"Bonnie, use Tackle!" she pointed and giggled, "This is gonna be fun!"

The strike slammed into Lucky, causing it to stagger back, but not much. Winter smiled innocently, his eyes revealing much more than his mouth did.

"Alright, Lucky, let's do this! Hit it with a Tail Whip!"

Lucky shot forward, it's tail whacking hard against Bonnie's side. Amy crossed her arms.

"Oh, not going to do any damage, I see? Fine, I guess I'll have to do that myself. Another Tackle Bonnie!"

Neither of them had really battled up to this point, so it was a lot of back and forth between the two.

"Tackle!"

"Growl!"

"Tail Whip!"

"Tackle!"

Eventually, it was clear that both Pokemon fought hard. Both had their lashing dished out from their respective opposing sides and both were panting. But they were grinning. Lucky made the next call.

"Tackle, let's go!"

But the Squirtle didn't tackle. Instead, it opened up it's mouth and shot a stream of water to smash into Bonnie. Amy's eyes widened as the impact washed Bonnie next to her feet, knocked out from the blow.

"She...she fainted..." Amy recalled her Pokemon and stared at the orb, "I lost..."

Concerned, Winter ran over to her, putting his arm around her, "I-I'm sorry! I didn't know he was gonna use that move! I didn't even know he knew how to do it!"

But she wasn't crying. She wasn't even sad. She stared up at him and beamed.

"It's okay! You won fair and square!" And then she hugged him.

Winter wasn't sure how to react. How do you talk to someone you just defeated? Lucky approached and extended a hand for Amy to shake.

Laughing, she accepted it, "You fought very well, Lucky! You too Winter!"

"B-but..." Winter stammered, puzzled by her reaction, "Aren't you angry that I beat you? I mean your Pokemon!"

"Oh don't sweat it!" she replied cheerfully, "I can always take her to the PokeCenter to heal her up. Besides, I know she'd feel the same way. She'd be grateful she got the opportunity to fight, even if it was a loss on her end. Just like I was grateful I got the opportunity to fight you!"

Winter still didn't feel right, "But...a battle-"

"Is supposed to determine who is better?" she finished the thought for him, "Wrong. A battle is supposed to help you make new friends and bond with your current ones." she gestured to Lucky, "Your Squirtle had bonded with you a little bit more by fighting me just like my Bulbasaur has with me by fighting you. And both Lucky and Bonnie like each other more now that they know each other a bit better. Also, you and I are more close than ever!"

Her smile cut straight through Winter, filling his heart with a warm feeling as she went on, "Don't you see? That's why we take this journey. We make new friends, human and Pokemon alike. And we stick with them until the end." She wrapped her arms around Winter in one final hug, the tears spilling from her eyes, "I'll miss you, y'know."

Winter sighed emotionally as he hugged back, "Yeah, I know."

"We'll still be friends, right? No matter what?"

"No matter what."

"No matter what..." he murmured under his breath as the wind erupting from the Hyper Beam dissipated, leaving the room stagnant once more. Somehow, Rio had survived the blast. That was the second Hyper Beam that Lance had used that failed at knocking out one of Winter's Pokemon. He continued to flap his wings in rhythm, eyeing the Dragonite like candy.

Two more free shots. Two more Dragon Claws ought to do it.

But Winter's steely gaze was gone, replaced by a wise and soft one that seemed to cut deeper. He knew what had to be done.

Rather than call out another move, Winter pulled out Rio's PokeBall and opened it.

"Rio! Return, buddy!"

The Aerodactyl was engulfed by the red light as he disappeared from the face of battle. Smiling kindly, Winter stepped forward, a sense of purpose in his stride and a resolution in his heart as he made his way onto the field.

"I'm calling the fight here," he told the Dragon Master, "You and I both know how that one would've ended, so why continue?" he continued to walk forward until he was standing face to face with Lance.

"I came here to prove myself capable of the title of champion. I think I have more than done that. But I don't think these battles should always end in a complete take down of one side. Sometimes, friendship is more important than that." He extended a hand for Lance to shake as he turned to Titania, a deep and powerful expression on his face, "And I'd rather make friends to align myself with than enemies I need to wipe out completely."

His gaze settled on Lance, "So, what say you, Lance, former Champion of the Kanto and Johto region? Do you still believe in war and power and might? Or can you settle for a resolution and a compromise?"

"Get back, boy!" Lance rebuffed Winter gruffly, causing a start in the former Champion. "I never give up, no matter what. You must be the same? All you've done is give my Dragonite the time it needed to recover. You asked me for a battle, and I'm giving you one. And now that I'm on the ropes, you decide to show mercy?"

Finally, Titania spoke. "The boy is right. I've seen enough. Lance, recall your Dragonite." A strength and firmness in her voice was clear. The way she walked, a way she hadn't in years, made it clear what had to happen now.

"Winter. You have more than proved yourself worthy of becoming my successor. Lance, all these years have made your heart hard. Yes, being victorious is important, but that's not why we got into this. We wanted to get to know PokΓ©mon better, to know each other better. And to be frank, I learned a lot from watching the both of you as well, and he's more than deserving. At the very least, more deserving than you. Swallow your pride while you still have it, Dragon Master." For a steel user, she sure could spit poison.

"As for you, Winter...it's time for you to take your place in history. Come with me to the final room, where we immortalize the Trainers that have stood above all the rest as League Champions, as well as your loyal partners that saw you through so many harsh battles. Through Will's determination. Koga's stalling and distractions. Bruno's brute strength. Karen's ingenuity. And certainly Lance's temper tantrums."

That last bit seemed to set him off, and he did the most un-Champion like thing of all...he jumped at Titania, who responded with a quick sucker punch right in the gut that sent the Blackthorn native hurtling back through the air and tumbling down the stairs onto the gilded floor below. Titania then turned back to Winter, shaking her head to get out of that dangerous mind-set. "Sorry you had to see that. He's always been a bit of a sore loser, but he's always managed to keep it under wraps until today. Now, shall we continue?"

Winter's eyes resided on Titania with awe as she just about handled the Dragon Master like a...well, like a champion. It felt weird to him that she was the position he had to fill, given he had yet to see this side of her. It was almost as if she had restored her own faith and will somehow. This wasn't the same Titania he had met upon entering this room.

This was the Titania he had come to fight. And he was at least appreciative to see her in action.

And suddenly it was time. Time to set himself up as the Champion of the Kanto and Johto regions. Time to write his name on the same list as the Steel user in front of him and the Dragon Master beneath them. The moment felt so powerful...but it wasn't complete.

"Give me one moment," he told Titania as he turned back to his fallen partner, "There's someone I want to share this experience with me."

With quick haste, he made his way over to the position he had taken what seemed like hours ago. Lucky's eyes were closed, resting from the blows he had taken. Winter never thought he'd have to use this. He dug into his pocket and pulled out his emergency Reviver Seed, placing it into the Squirtle's mouth. After a couple of seconds, Lucky blinked awake. Slowly at first, then with a bit more effort, the Squirtle found his way to his feet, rubbing the back of his head.

"Sssssquir?" he asked groggily.

"Hey, buddy," Winter ruffled the Pokemon's head, "We did it. We are the Champions."

In that moment, the expression on Lucky's face went from confused to ecstatic as he started hopping around, whooping and cheering. Winter laughed at the sudden outburst of emotion as he crouched down to give Lucky a meaningful hug. There were tears in both of their eyes as they embraced each other.

"Told you we could do it," he chuckled through sobs as he perched lower to let Lucky climb onto his back, "You and me till the end."

It was in that moment that he realized Titania was still standing there, watching them. He laughed as he realized how unchampion-like he must've looked, "Haha, sorry. It's just...there's so much emotion in this moment. You hear stories about people taking this position in the most incredible of ways, but it's nothing compared to the experience."

He sighed as he looked around the room, the room he'd now and always remember as the room in which he claimed his title and started his reign. There was a grin permanently put on his face as he turned to face her, Lucky staring through his own gleaming eyes of excitement, "I'm ready now."

The clerks were unaware of exactly what kind of transaction was taking place. Ak-Mun had calculated that part perfectly, the store clerks not observant enough to realize that that wasn't a real card, not proactive enough to truly seek out the issue with they payment method. The male clerk even watched from afar, appearing confused by Ak-Mun rather than by the transaction, but other than that, no suspicions were tossed in his direction.

"Have a great day! Good luck on your journey!" the female clerk called as Ak-Mun bolted out the door.

But Ak-Mun had made one fatal mistake. Something that would actually give him a reason to run. Something worth running from. Ak-Mun had planned every step perfectly. Every calculation was correct. Nothing could stand in his way...except one factor that made enough difference to turn a success into a failure.

He never checked whose account he took from.

"What the-" Winter muttered as he checked his Poke balance and found it considerably lower than when he first got here...much lower.

One of the perks of being a Champion was the pay. Of course, that wasn't Winter's main reason to try for that title against Lance. The Poke never interested him as nothing more than a means to survive. It's why he had so little going into that fight. But ever since he won that battle and claimed the title, he had more than enough money to probably buy everything in the Celadon Department Store and then some. Until now, anyway.

"Hey Lucky," Winter called his Squirtle over to his side of the hotel room, "That looks lower than it did, right?"

Winter checked the PokeDex and scoffed at him as if to say, Yeah, but what's money to you?

"I know, I know, money really isn't an object to me," Winter couldn't stop staring at the number in front of him, "But something seems fishy about this." He sifted through the information, skimming the unimportant until he landed on "Previous Transactions". Clicking it, he watched the display fill up with a list of all the transactions he'd done in the past week. The most recent one read:

Money Transfer- Account Number 3745961 to Account Number 2774857 - 130,000 Poke

"Huh...I didn't authorize this," Winter mumbled. Now Lucky was peering over his shoulder, watching Winter's actions and paying attention to what was showing up on screen. "Welp...let's find this person."

Another perk about being a Champion was it gave him access to the criminal database of the region. Any recorded crime that has been committed in the Kanto/Johto regions was there, typically with a suspect of some kind associated with it. Winter pulled it up and plugged the account number in, seeing what he could find.

The first name that came up was Ak-Mun Shiniga, a Team Rocket grunt who was craftier than most. He was wanted for embezzlement as well as something in relation to his parent's history...something in relation to his Pokemon. Also known as Winter's first order of business as the champion of the region. Looking at the picture associated with it, something seemed familiar about the face...he'd seen this boy before...very recently.

"You stole from the wrong mofo," Winter mumbled before closing his PokeDex, sliding it into his back pocket, and proceeded to gather his belt. "Come on Lucky! We got ourselves a criminal to catch!"

"SQUIR!" A very determined Squirtle hopped on Winter's back with one jump from the bed that professional acrobats would envy. Hurriedly, they made their way onto the street to find Ak-Mun.

"Damn that was a good payout. Time to evolve some Pokemon!" Ak-Mun muttered to himself as he exited the store and stepped into the road.

"Charmeleon! Magikarp! It's time to evolve!" Ak-Mun spoke as he threw his two Dark pokeballs and let out his pokemon.

"Charmeleon, you're first!" Ak-Mun spoke to Charmeleon as he walked over and petted him on his head.

Ak-Mun would press the Firestone against Charmeleon and watched as a red energy began to emit. The air would instantly getting hotter as the red energy began to form into a ball around Charmeleon. While Charmeleon was evolving, he moved to his Magikarp and pressed the stone to it. The Magikarp in all fairness seemed very pissed off and its blackened scaling didn't make it look any nicer. When the Water stone was put to the Magikarp, a black energy began to pulse around it. This energy would knock Ak-Mun on his rump and pushed the newly formed Charizard sideways.

The Magikarp sized orb was now a lot large and cracked with red bolts of energy. The Dark Charizard and Ak-Mun stood next to each other as they watched this Magikarp evolve. Ak-Mun thought he just stole a pissed off Magikarp, but it was becoming relevant that this Magikarp was more than just mad, it was unique. As the evolutionizing magic vanished, a large shining Garydos that was black and red let off a massive roar.

Dark Charizard and Ak-Mun just stared at the mighty beast for a moment. Charizard stepped forward and communicated with the black Garydos.

"Do not be mad at our Master! We rescued you from that place!" Charizard pleaded with Garydos.

"Fire dragon, I know who our Master is, and I thank him. Even as a Magikarp, I wanted to thank him, but now I can!" Garydos spoke to Charizard.

"I gotta say, even I am jealous of you. I wish I had your colors." Charizard spoke, "If you're one of us, we will be undefeatable!"

Charizard nodded to Ak-Mun and Garydos did the same to Ak-Mun. At that moment, they all realized they were team mates. Ak-Mun would stick his Pokeballs out to retrieve his Pokemon and make way to the Pokecenter where he would stage a trade with himself to evolve his Onix into a Steelix. The only Pokemon he could not evolve today was his Dark Metang. Knowing Ak-Mun's luck, he would run into Winter before he made to evolve his Onix.

Winter wouldn't have to look long.

As the Indigo Champion made his way through the very streets he called home, he prioritized his destination. He remembered that the Team Rocket affiliate had asked about the Celadon Department Store, specifically about items to evolve his Pokemon. It would be a great place to begin his search.

However, his search was over before it had even begun as Winter rounded a corner and turned to see Ak-Mun walking down the street, heading towards the Pokemon Center. He had his hands in his pockets and that familiar smug grin on his face. He had seen not even ten minutes ago and already his walk held more authority...his being felt more powerful. A dark aura seemed to emit from the boy...one that did not encourage a friendly demeanor.

Winter was at least rational. He wasn't going to call Ak-Mun out on the street and start a scene. He wanted to deal with this...fop, in private. Where no one would be watching and no one would be holding cameras. The best way to take down a Team Rocket affiliate was in the shadows with no press. After all, the ill-intent organization held a much more powerful political stance in Ruula than many average citizens realized. It was best not to poke that bear.

"Oh hey buddy!" Winter walked up to him, a casual smile on his face and a lightness in his eyes that looked as innocent and naive as ever, "How was your visit to the Department Store? Did they get you everything you needed?"

As Ak-Mun was about to enter the door, he was stopped by someone talking in what seemed like his direction, "Hey! Yeah! Got everything I needed, thanks!"

Ak-Mun then turned back to the door and continued to walk inside. Normally, he might have talked a bit more, but at this moment he was wanting to stage his trade and evolve the last pokemon he could. While moving towards the stairs that lead upstairs to a trading room, the conversation the clerk had hit him, he knew who the guy was outside that tried talking to him. With a simple shoulder shrug, he dropped the thought completely and continued on.

As soon as he entered the room, Ak Mun placed two Pokeballs on each side of the trade machine. He then moved to the computer that controlled the trade.

"Would you like to trade Pokemon today? Yes or No."

"Yes."

"Would you like to add or remove items before trade? Yes or No."

"Yes."

"Please attach item now!"

Ak-Mun went over to his pokeball that contained his Dark Onix and attacked a 'Metal Coat'. It was a simple method to attach the item instead of drawing out his Onix inside the Pokecenter. The young man quickly tapped a few keys on the computer to input his completion of item attachment.

"Trade activated!"

The small machine let out a red glow while Ak-Mun watched the pokeswap on the computer screen. After a few seconds a beep went off and signaled the completion of the trade. Ignoring the follow up message being given by the trading machine, Ak-Mun scooped up his Pokemon and rushed downstairs where he would then set his Pokeballs on the counter.

"Can you heal my Pokemon right quick? They might not need it, but I just want to make sure they're healed for my trip."

"Ah, Yes! We can heal your Pokemon. It will only take a few seconds." The nurse spoke as she took the Pokeballs and placed them in the healing machine.

The pokemon healing machine would glow red a few times and beep when complete. The nurse removed the Pokeballs from the medical machine and set them on the counter before turning her eyes to Ak-Mun. The young nurse would bat her thick eyelashes at Ak-Mun while she watched him gather his pokeballs.

The woman never removed her green eyes off the young man and brushed her bangs out of her eyes, "I hope you have a safe trip and don't get into any trouble!", winking as she said the part about the trouble.

Ak-Mun stared blankly and slightly blushed when he felt her green eyes piercing his. Women didn't tend to look at him this way, but maybe she was into bad boys? Ak-Mun didn't know, nor did he care at the moment what her interests were.

"We'll see about that." Ak-Mun responded as he checked to make sure his pokeballs were secure.

The nurse continued to eye him from head to toe, "Well, if you ever need your pokemon healed and you're in the area, come and see me! And if you ever get into too much trouble..." She spoke the last part as she slid him a paper she wrote her number on.

Ak-Mun took the paper and stared at it akwardly before turning his eyes back to the woman who was batting her eyes at him and giving a rather enticing wave good bye. Ak-Mun took it as the conversation was over and that she expected him to come back around by not making him waste time.

"Thanks! What if i'm not in trouble?" Ak-Mun asked her as he tucked the number into his pocket.

The nurse just giggled and waived at hime, "That's up to you! Now you better hurry, that trip isn't going to happen if you're standing here!"

The young poketrainer nodded as he turned around to leave. Now his mind was stuck on the pokenurse and he completely forgot what was around him. With a loud 'thud', Ak-Mun walked straight into the sliding glass doors on the front of the Pokecenter. Ak-Mun turned around to see if he had been seen, and he knew he was caught when he saw the cute pokenurse giggling and waiving once again at him. He cleared out his throat and tugged on his shirt as he made sure to walk through the doors this time instead of in them.

When he was a few feet infront of the door, Ak-Mun pulled out his custom pokedex and began to input the number. He was sure someone was outside, but this was first phone number gave to him; meaning he didn't try to get it, it just happened. When he was done, he closed up the pokedex and put it back in his pocket. Then, with a quick glance around him, he noticed Winter still outside.

"Sorry, I was meeting someone to trade pokemon with and couldn't be late. You know, I might be wrong, but if you're who I think you are, there's a lot of people here who are your fan... What's your name?" Ak-Mun spoke as he walked over to Winter.

As he finished up his words and was in mid walk, Ak-Mun pulled out a rolled up herbal substance in a natural hemp paper. He'd place this herbal cigarette to his lips and pull out a 'Zippo' to light it. After a few puffs, the herbal cigarette had a glowing orange tip and was letting off a scent that smelled like Pinap Berry and skunk.

Winter's brow shot up curiously as Ak-Mun seemed to pay no attention to him or his presence, walking in to the Pokemon Center with nothing more than a few placeholder words it seemed. The Indigo Champion pondered this. What was so important that he couldn't be bothered?

"Squir!" Lucky stood by the entrance, giving Winter a sign that he was going to stay out here and be on the lookout. Winter nodded

Silently, Winter followed after him, keeping a careful distance away as the Team Rocket affiliate approached the stairs that led to the trading terminal. Quickly grabbing a newspaper, he waited until Ak-Mun was out of sight and then followed behind. The newspaper was just a precaution, not just in case Ak-Mun chose to look behind him, but in case other people recognized him as well. He had quickly become accustomed to the popularity curse Titania placed upon him and had some very simple evasion strategies that could be implemented at any time. He had come to Celadon City prepared.

Reaching the top of the stairs, Winter opened the newspaper and hid his face behind it, leaning against the wall casually so as to not attract attention. He would give timed curious glances towards Ak-Mun as he performed the trade. He watched the teen pull out a metal coat and place it on one side of the trading terminal. The Pokeball on the other side, Winter would presume, had no Pokemon in it. This clued him in as to what he was doing. He was trading to evolve something. And the Metal Coat was a pivotal ingredient to help him. This meant he could be evolving only one of two Pokemon: A Scyther into a Scizor or an Onix into a Steelix. Nothing coherently evil in nature, Winter knew. But he still stole money from a champion and that wasn't excusable.

He took all this information in stride, looking down at the newspaper once more when the transaction at the trading terminal was complete. He heard Ak-Mun's footsteps walk past him, not even realizing that the same boy he'd talked with in the Pokemon Center beforehand was the same boy he'd just ran into on the street was the same boy who was reading a newspaper watching him. All in all, things were going well. Winter waited a moment before going down the stairs. It was confrontation time.

As Winter sneaked his way around the outer corner of the room and to the outside, he gave another passing glance to Ak-Mun, who was healing his Pokemon. Did Ak-Mun have a previous scuffle beforehand? Winter didn't know, but it certainly seemed like it. He was talking with the other Nurse behind the counter as the nurse seemed to get a bit flirty. Rolling his eyes, the Indigo Champion sauntered outside and immediately looked to his left. Lucky was standing there, a lollipop in his mouth. He looked up when he saw Winter and gave a casual wave.

Amused, Winter couldn't help but smile, "Where'd you find a lollipop? I wasn't even gone two minutes!"

"Squir!" Lucky pointed across the street to a vendor who was walking around with a trolley, giving all sorts of sweets and treats.

"And how did you accumulate enough Poke to get one of those?"

The Squirtle didn't answer, just casually shrugged. He was just as amused by this as Winter was.

It was at this moment that Ak-Mun proceeded to step outside, "Sorry, I was meeting someone to trade pokemon with and couldn't be late. You know, I might be wrong, but if you're who I think you are, there's a lot of people here who are your fan... What's your name?"

He had pulled out an herbal cigarette and proceeded to smoke it. The smell of burnt Pinap and Skuntank permeated the air. Winter actually had to step back a pace to continue speaking without coughing. Lucky would be fine so long as he didn't hop onto Winter's shoulder.

"It's Winter," Winter crossed his arms and gave the Team Rocket Affiliate a cynical look, "And you have something that belongs to me."

"Something of yours, you say? How could I possibly have anything of yours? This is the second time i've met you. Now if you don't mind, i'll be on my way." Ak Mun stared Winter down, looking into his eyes.

Before Ak-Mun made a move, he took a large drag off his Pinap Berry Kush, all to exhale out his nostrils and mouth. A second after he fully exhaled, he took a second draw without letting his gaze go from the other man and his Squirtle. Ak Mun was gauging his situation and had an idea of what he could be in for if he persisted, but he knew what the attention he could get as a Poketrainer for this.

A smirk crossed the face of Ak-Mun as the smoke started rolling from his mouth as he spoke, "And even if I did, what would you do about it? It's not like you're going to attack me with solid proof... wouldn't look good on the mantle they place you on. What did you obviously lose that you're going to pick me out of everyone here?"

The tension between the two would probably grow. One was seriously peeved while the other instigated it. Ak-Mun understood where this was going, but he still didn't have an idea of what he could have stole from Winter, not thinking that he was the owner of the Poke credits.

Winter didn't let up on his hard look. His face remained stoic. Inside, his mind was racing, trying to figure out a solution. Ak-Mun was right. Despite everything he'd seen in his database, he had no physical evidence to back up the crime. And even if he did, Ak-Mun was a member of Team Rocket. They could pull strings in the UPL and get him acquitted or even broken out of they deemed him necessary. And even though he was a Champion, it wasn't like he had any legal authority to arrest someone. He'd have to find a police officer in Celadon who could do that.

But he knew a way. A fair way to potentially put some hard and factual evidence of Ak-Mun's affiliation on the record for every police officer to see. Or at the very least get his money back. After all, Celadon City did have a gambling appeal to it, brought to the city by the Celadon Game Corner. It was one of three prime time locations in all of Ruula to gamble, rivaled by Mauville in Hoenn and Veilstone in Sinnoh. And it's not like it was unheard of for a Champion of any tier to gamble, right?

Winter raised an intriguing eyebrow at Ak-Mun, a slow steady smile creeping on his face, "Then how about a battle? Three of your Pokemon versus three of mine. I'll even even the level tier so that my Pokemon aren't more powerful than yours. It'll be a duel of strategy, not strength. If I win, I get the money that you stole from me. If you win...well for one you can claim that you beat the Indigo Champion. Two, I'll give you all the money that's in my bank account. And I will let you know that what you took from there was only a small chunk, so you can imagine how much I have. Sound like a deal?"

Even before Ak-Mun was deciding about what he was going to do, Winter was thinking about strategy. Which three Pokemon he should pick from his ten. What kind of gimmick Ak-Mun might throw to gain a win. And what secret aura his whole nature would have in terms of battling his Pokemon. It was a lot to take in for a person he just met. Unlike Titania, he didn't have a lot of knowledge about what this boy would fight with. Then again, he never really did fight Titania...

"Money?! You think I stole YOUR money?! What a joke! If I was going to steal any money, it wouldn't be off you..." Ak-Mun spoke, laughing at the idea before his smirk crossed his face again, "But a friendly wager is never a bad thing..."

Ak-Mun would think about his options for a moment as he puffed on his herbal cigarette. He had just evolved three of his Pokemon and had plenty of things to boost their power. Ak-Mun was fully aware of what he stole from the trainer now, but he still had to play it cool, especially since spectators started to peek out and look at the two standing off. The more time that passed in his thought, the closer his right hand moved over his pokeballs.

"What if I lose? With the way you talk, I would guess I need to put equal collateral up to make this an equal wager. If your wager is above 300k poke, I will place my Metagross Sword, if it is left, I'll put my Metagross Knife on the line. You won't find many weapons like these, i'd say they're good enough?"

Ak-Mun was sure of the three he would use to fight Winter. This was a good time to exhibit their uniqueness and get his name on the map, possibly even get recognized in Team Rocket as worthy. He would take on this challenge regardless from this moment on, but he wanted it to be a spectacle.

The nurse inside had been watching the entire spectacle and noticed the two standing off, in fact, she even noticed Ak-Mun reaching for his pokeballs. With her recent infatuation with Ak-Mun, she made a note to run outside and watch what was going on. She had no clue if it was friendly or not till she took notice of both males faces, noting the tension they produced while locked in eachothers stare.

The nurse turned to Ak-Mun, "Do you know who he is?"

"Of course I do, he's a crazy man i've met once or twice since i've been here." Ak-Mun spoke back to her while staring at Winter.

"He's a champion! Are you sure you and your Pokemon can handle this?" She spoke in a worried tone.

"I'm sure we can. If not, i'll just have to come back inside and see you." Ak-Mun calmly spoke as he quickly looked at the nurse and winked.

"Okay! If you need me, you can find me inside! I'll be watching through the glass though!" She spoke before turning around going back inside, something Ak-Mun was watching out of the corner of his eye.

"So, Winter, you ready?" He spoke to his new opponent, ready to start the fight.

"No, no, I don't need any weapons," Winter declined the offer, "I'll be just fine getting my money back." The thought of weapons made from a Metagross sent a cold chill down his spine. He definitely didn't want any part of that. Only a Team Rocket affiliate would be prepared enough to carry such things.

As the Nurse and Ak-Mun exchanged words, Winter couldn't help but notice the crowd of people gathering around them, drawn by the tension between the two. Many were pointing at Winter and whispering excitedly, recognizing him on sight. The Champion fight wasn't displayed on any network or recorded to some archive or anything like that. In fact, the fight through the Elite Four and onto the Region Champion were some of the only fights kept private. Winter realized this would be his first public fight as the Champion of the Region.

No pressure.

Winter pulled out his PokeDex and pulled up a setting known as Battle Simulation. After editing a few setting within the program, he placed his PokeDex on the ground in front of him and watched a massive orb surround the two of them. There would be plenty of space for both trainer and Pokemon to roam around freely, as if it were an actual arena. The orb adjusted the strength of the individual entering the arena, either making the combatant stronger or weaker depending on what the cap was. Winter had set it to Level 50 Fixed, meaning all Pokemon who entered the arena would immediately become as strong as a Level 50 Pokemon. The Indigo Champ had hired the person who created the technology for the trainer arenas in the Unova and Kalos regions and asked him to make a personal setting on his PokeDex. He would also be testing out this form of technology with Ak-Mun.

Many an ooh came from the gathering crowd as Winter stepped into the orb, thinking about his choices for Pokemon this go round. He knew immediately the other two Pokemon he would be using against Ak-Mun, but he still couldn't decide which Pokemon he wanted to lead with. After a bit of debate, he decided that it was time to get a little bit of training in for a Pokemon that wasn't on his main set. She was so new that she didn't even have a nickname yet. Pulling the Pokeball off his belt, he proceeded to throw it in front of him, revealing his first choice as any Champion would be accustomed to doing.

"Weavile, let's do this!"

Out popped the snarling Weavile, her crimson colored eyes glaring at Ak-Mun intimidatingly. Her claws popped out in front of her, poised and ready to tear through something. Not to mention she looked steeled enough to do so.

"Alright, now," Winter mused across the field to Ak-Mun, "What's your first move, mate?"

"I'm not going to argue with not wanting my sword, but I do not have any money of yours. You'll just have to accept my money." Ak-Mun spoke right before the Battle Simulation was laid out.

Ak-Mun didn't have much of an idea of what was occurring with the field, but he had heard rumors of such things through the blackmarket. In order for him to understand what was going on, Ak-Mun pulled out his Pokedex and tried to find out exactly what Winter had done. On the Pokedex, it stated the technology was still a theory and had yet to be proven an actual item.

A slight giggle occurred as he set his Pokedex on 'Sync' and placed it back inside his pocket. He couldn't download the tech onto his Pokedex outright, but he could Sync it's coding into his Pokedex to later pull up and study for his own good. As shown previously for a teenage punk, Ak-Mun was very saavy with tech and more intelligent that one would think. Needless to say, Ak-Mun was going to figure out how he could use this program for his own good.

"So this is what they say is impossible... Time to see if it's real or just for looks." Ak-Mun whispered to himself as he wrapped his hands around his first Pokeball.

"Let's light this place up so everyone can see what's going on! Charizard, let's burn it down!" Ak-Mun spoke with excitement as he released his first Pokemon into the field.

The Charizard was no typical Charizard. The dragons skin was almost jet black, but a blue tint seemed to keep it from reaching that extreme darkness. This blue tint was nearly unnoticed unless hit by light at the right angles. The dragons wings were a dark crimson color that matched the flame that burned on the tip of it's tail. The Charizard looked at the Weavile with an intimidating face that showed his dragon fangs, causing his eyes to slight squint, making his eyes look like a darker red and more intimidating.

"You ready, Charizard?" Ak-Mun spoke, Charizard responding with a blast of fire into the air and slamming his tail on the ground.

He then turned to Winter, "I'm wondering what will happen if you got knocked off that mantle these people put you on... You ready to find out?"

Again, Ak-Mun was trying to mess with Winter's head. It would be a great joy to win this battle, but if Ak-Mun knew he could get in the guys head, it would make it that much easier to win. With that, the fight would most likely begin and the biggest Pokebattle that Celadon City has been able to report lately.

Winter's eyes widened slightly as he took in the massive Charizard. He'd heard of Mega Evolution before, and that one of Charizard's Mega Evolutions turned it black. But it didn't appear that Ak-Mun had such a stone attached to his companion...nor was it accompanied by blue fire as he knew. He was also pretty sure this wasn't a rare shiny Pokemon either. This...this was something else...this was something darker...

"This...is unique," Winter finally fished out the words he was seeking, "I don't think I've ever seen any Charizard that color before...nor carry that blackened aura I sense even from here."

His mind began to strategize. Sure, the shadow the Charizard carried over it's skin seemed to throw a wrench in things, but Winter had battled quite a few Charizards within the four years since he'd started his quest...including one in his fight against Lance. The problem was he had yet to fight a Charizard with Weavile. The speed she carried would keep her ahead of him by a decent enough margin, but Winter knew a Charizard's weakness was in their Defense. Weavile was more than capable offensively, so it only came down to which move he should start out with.

"Alright, Weavile, Hone Claws to start this thing off!" he called. The Weavile scraped it's claws together in rapid succession until they seemed to polish in the sunlight. Her next couple of hits would be fairly stronger and definitely more accurate. This would also give him a chance to see what Ak-Mun had in his arsenal...

Ak-Mun had never seen a Weavil. Many times he had seen Sneasils, but never the evolution, so he was in much a spot as Winter was towards his Charizard. While noticing the Weavile sharped his claws, Ak-Mun was trying to create a strategy around a Pokemon he had never seen or fought before, having to base his plan off Sneasil battles.

"Charizard, use Smokescreen!" Ak-mun called out to Charizard.

With that, Charizard extended his head slightly and black smoke began to roll out of his mouth. In seconds, the Weavile would find themself in a Smokescreen that would lower accuracy. Ak-Mun figured if Sneasil was quick and sneaky, than Weavile could be also, and the best way to slow them down was to lower their accuracy first and then progress into a more aggressive battle. As it was stated earlier, this Battle Simulation program would require strategy over brute strength. One the Smokescreen was in play, Charizard opened his wings and kept a keep eye on Weavile through the smoke.

Winter smiled at the status move in which Ak-Mun had applied. A great start for the Team Rocket affiliate, he had to admit. Lowering the accuracy of Weavile was definitely a viable strategy. However, one of the reasons why Winter had started with Hone Claw was to raise her accuracy anyway. This meant that when Charizard unleashed her Smokescreen, she'd be ready. In a sense, it'd be just like if she hadn't used Hone Claws and Charizard hadn't used Smokescreen. The two offset.

But Hone Claws raised her power as well as her accuracy. And the smoke that engulfed the two combatants definitely didn't make her weaker. This next hit or two would be pretty rough on Charizard.

"It's time to do this! Weavile, Frustration!"

It was very clear that Weavile did not like Winter. Not in the slightest way. That was the definitive difference between the mean nature of her and the mean nature of Rio. Rio was always loyal to Winter. Weavile was not. Winter would prefer to have it the other way around and be able to teach her Return, but it wouldn't do much good here. Frustration was far more effective in battle. The Weavile shuddered at the command and unleashed a furious slash across the Charizard's midsection. The power of it alone would cause the Charizard to stagger backwards. It would be a hefty blow to take. Another blow like that...and Charizard would be knocked out.

A large round of applause rang through the crowd as Winter made his first strike. A few faces held awe while others held wonder...genuine intrigue about the steps Winter had taken with each move. Winter paid no attention to this. He just focused on Ak-Mun's retaliation.

A slight grunt erupted from what Ak-Mun claimed to be a Dark Charizard. The mighty dragon took a few steps pack before catching himself and jerking his head forward to stare down the Weavile. Charizard was upset, his rage growing inside the longer the battle continued. For now the mighty Charizard waited for an answer.

"Charizard! Heat Wave!" Ak-Mun commanded Charizard who got a smirk on his face that matched his masters.

The Charizard would stretch his neck forward and open his Maw towards Weavile and his trainer. A semi-translucent redorange blast of super hot air roared as it escaped the dragons mouth that would cast extra damage due to fire being a weakness of Weavile. The blast of heat would instantly heat up the area, as anything related to fire that can melt boulders would probably do. Ak-Mun, being behind Charizard felt as much heat as any spectator, but if Winter was near or directly behind his Weavile, he would most likely find himself in a very uncomfortable position. With such, if Weavile could stand up after this attack, there was a possible chance it would suffer from a burn.

Once the attack was done, Charizard pulled his head back and looked at his opponent. The dragons wings were expanded and he let off a slight roar into the air as he flexed his muscles. After this short display, Charizard readied himself to fight some more.

"Good job, Charizard! Lets see how they took that..." Ak-Mun spoke to Charizard in a happy tone as he took a drag off of his herbal cigarette.

Weavile crossed her arms and shut her eyes tight as the immense Heat Wave washed over her. Winter crossed his fingers as well, knowing there was a good chance that Weavile could be knocked out in one shot here.

"Come on, Weavile! I know you can do it!" He encouraged.

When the dust settled, Weavile remained standing, a hot glare on her face that matched the heat wave the Charizard had just emitted. She was clearly weakened to a low point, but she hadn't fainted. She was defiant against everything...against Winter, against Charizard, and apparently against the odds. A larger burst of applause followed the attack while the Weavile lowered her arms, her stance readjusting from defensive to offensive. Winter pumped his own fist in the air.

"Ha ha! Nice!" Winter put his game face on once more, "Alright, Weavile! Let's go! Frustration once more!"

The Weavile shot forward, powered by anger and vigor in her body. If Frustration hadn't peaked in power before, it certainly did now. The Charizard wouldn't stand a chance as the smaller opponent smashed into his chest full force. This would certainly clean up his Charizard in terms of battle.

Flipping away from the close proximity, the Weavile landed with grace in her step and intensity in her eyes. The crowd roared their approval. Winter was concentrating on Ak-Mun. The boy was battle capable and knew his strategies, Winter knew. But at least he knocked out one of his Pokemon, against the type differential. That was something to be marveled at, even for a Champion status.

Ak-Mun retrieved Charizard and placed the Pokeball back on his hip. It astounded him that a pokemon with an extreme weakness to fire was capable of standing despite having no defensive bonuses, but there it stood. With his next Pokemon in mind, he quickly pulled the pokeball off his side and released the pokemon.

"Steelix, finish this up!" Ak-Mun spoke.

Before the masses stood a Steelix that stood 33' in height and had a much darker tone to it's exterior. The Steelix, like the Charizard, was not your standard pokemon and had a dark energy to itself. The mighty Pokemon would stand high above the Weavile and its steel hide more impervious to the attack involved in taking on Charizard, not to mention being a steel pokemon, also being a type Weavile was weakened against.

Ak-Mun stood there, staring down Winter while watching the Weavile out of the corner of his eye. He knew Steelix would finish the Weavile without an issue, and hopefully the next Pokemon as well. While the battle was progressing, the battle would end up close, and Ak-Mun knew he'd eventually have to face that Squirtle, hopefully not next.

Winter stroked his chin when Ak-Mun revealed his next Pokemon...a Steelix with a similar luster as the Charizard had. Now something was definitely up with this guy's Pokemon. His jaw dropped slightly as he realized the similarities and put two and two together. They were all Dark-Types. Studying the long and sturdy creature, Winter's piercing blue eyes fell onto the boy's face in such a way that would give anyone chills.

"Okay, what's going on with your Pokemon?" he asked directly, "What kind of gimmick are you playing at? Steelix isn't a Dark Type and neither is Charizard. So why do they appear to be?" He refrained from adding on: What did you do to them?

At the same time, he realized Weavile was still in the arena and definitely not prepared for any kind of strike the boy's Steelix would lay onto him. Now that he knew they were Dark-Types, he realized Weavile couldn't strike him with much force at all. Icy Wind would fare the best out of all the offensive moves she had and even then, it would take a while, especially with that Steelix's monstrous defense. Winter's eyes suddenly lit up as he had anther epiphany.

Weavile couldn't do anything offensively substantial...but she certainly could set up for the next combatant.

"Weavile! Use Screech!"

The Weavile reared her head back and let loose an ear piercing scream that would vibrate through any metal and leave any opponent shaken. Winter knew this would at least cause a less sturdy Steelix for his next entry to fight against. He clutched the second ball on his belt, ready to toss it into the arena to take on the Steelix next.
