Short spurts of wind whipped lightly around Wren, she paused pulling the strap of her bag off her shoulder, providing relief from the pang of pain that shot across her collar bone from the weight. Main street seemed utterly eerie for the middle of the day; besides the small flocks of people that sputtered along the sidewalks every so often, everything seemed to be normal. A dangerous word to use in such a place, main street was never normal.

A tingling sensation pressed into her pocket drew her attention from her path for just a moment. With a quick movement she pulled out her phone, reading the text that had been sent from Damon, her brother. Among all the people she wanted to talk to, he was the last one. Wren didn't even take a second to push the phone back into her pocket, but not before crashing into what seemed to be a brick wall, sending her plummeting down onto the skin devouring pavement. In a blur of deep red hair and a few scattered cuss words, Wren caught herself on one foot for a moment, but then clattered the rest of the way to the ground once her backpack came around and slammed against her rib cage, ending what any chance she had at balance.

She pulled her self back, recoiling from his words and analyzing each one. He wasn't from around here, then again, neither was she. He didn't seem too dangerous and she could probably outrun him, therefore, he was not a threat. In a small second she pulled her bag back up around her shoulders, still planted on the ground. With both hands she smoothed her jeans out, only to find a massive tear above her right knee, of course. His hand extended towards her, the silvers and golds of the rings reflected the bright sunlight above, sending small flashes of light dancing over the brick walls beside them.

Without over thinking his kind gesture to help her up, she took his hand, pulling herself up to her feet. The red head stood about a half of a foot shorter than the boy with the British accent, his build was much more bulkier than her's was. Comparing them would be like putting a Jack Russel terrier and a St. Bernard side by side and be told to find the similarities. Dog, fur, and bark would be the only things in common.

"Sorry about that." A small bit of southern twang dripped onto her words like honey. "Uhm, you dropped some things." Wren let go of his hand, bending down to pick up a few of the envelopes that had freed themselves from his bag during the collision. "Oh, I'm Wren by the way."

"Running late?" Wren caught him checking his watch while she pulled more papers up, handing them to him until the ground was clean and clear of all the crisp white envelopes. She stood back up, assessing the damage to her jeans, obviously not fixable and just one more thing she did not have the money to replace. "Hm, well Tosser, are you a mailman or are those love letters from all the girl's hearts you've stolen?"

His smile didn't make her heart skip a beat or force her palms to become clammy, Wren knew guys like him. Sure, he was attractive, very attractive, but he was not the kind of guy that could handle a girl like her. Her large icy blue eyes gave him the once over, running down his angular nose and broad shoulders then skimming over his seemingly designer pants. A perfectly mischievous smirk graced her full lips and she made eye contact with him one more, pushing her thick hair back from her eyes in one fluid motion.

"If your work is always late, shouldn't you be going?" She let out an airy laugh that floated lightly on the cool breeze. He was pretty cute, she did have to admit at least that much. Overall, the girl was having quite a difficult time pinning down what kind of guy he was which peaked her curiosity.

A scuffling sound caught her attention for just a moment, pulling her attention to the envelope that blew up against her dark grey boot. She picked it up, examining the outside of the manila sheet, reading the sender's name, then the receivers before stepping closer to put the letter back into his pack herself. "Looks like you've got some pretty big people sending mail."

The girl stepped back once more, taking a glimpse around the city, her directions had failed her once more. Stupid old man at the subway probably didn't know what he was talking about to begin with, "Look, I have to get home and change before my interview. It was good talking to you, but unless you know where Tao Corporations is, then I've really got to be going." She smiled once more before turning on her heels to leave.

The seasons had begun to change; the weather was too poor outside to do anything. Unfortunately, last thing Wren needed was a night at home. She had to take time out from the hustle and bustle of work, yet staying at home would mean her mind could run rampant through her worries. She was never one to go to a bar, but even after being in the town for a few weeks, curiosity overruled any suspicions she had. Wren pushed the door open with her hip, the warm air overwhelmed her. A familiar body sat at the bar, she recognized his physique, slender yet muscular. He had toppled her over a few weeks on the sidewalk. Their conversation was short lived once her phone rang, dragging her away from the bubbly fellow.

"Look what the cat dragged in." Wren walked up behind him, removing his left ear bud, but then quickly sitting down at his right side as to confuse him, though she was not sure if it would work. "Thought you'd never see me again, eh?"

"See I thought the same about you- living with their mom type." She glanced at him for a moment before smirking. "Oh you know, I came here just to try and find you. I thought that you'd be in the this wasted bar." She tapped her hands on the counter for a moment, after her sarcastic words finished licking their way through the cool air. The bartender slid a shot down the bar in front of her.

"What makes you think I'm old enough to drink?" Wren paused before laughing aloud, knocking the shot back in one go, inhaling quickly as soon as it was done, the burning sensation of the alcohol cooling her throat. A small laugh escaped her for a moment. "But seriously, I don't know many people or places around here... and I work just about everyday, so I guess I needed to get out for a bit. How about yourself? You come here to brood I presume?" She winked at him before tearing little pieces off of the napkin in front of her.

"Tip? What do you think I am... made of money?" She took the other shot he ordered for her, knowing it was probably a poor idea to be drinking, let alone drinking with a man she did not know. "I've only been here since... well, the day you met me. Not long at all."

Wren pushed her dark hair back from her face, smiling a bit, the alcohol already affecting her. "You put anymore vodka in me and i'll just have to call it quits." She giggled once more.

"I'm just chilling." She waved at the bartender for two more, promising herself it would be her last one. Her bag rustled as she pulled out her water, taking a long sip before continuing talking. "I'm here for a few months, if I get another job maybe longer. I guess it all depends. Weird town though..."
