Description

Xvander's natural shape is somewhat amorphic, a black tar like creature. However since arriving near Wing City he assimilated the body and knowledge of a local weapon's dealer. He has taken in the man's work with a passion. The vanity of his race not letting him pick someone who isn't attractive by local standards.

Tall and broad shouldered the body is powerful. Short black hair and a close trimmed beard, his nature expresses itself in the man's appearance through a sinister air to the man. When he grows agitated or otherwise is threatened his skin becomes pale and black veins rise to the surface.

Personality

Xvander is a ruthless man, and will go to any lengths to get what he desires. He is ambitious and has large goals, both on and off planet. He is patient and willing to wait for his goals to become more achievable, while setting things in motion for long term pay outs.

Xvander's people have a natural psychic webwork that draws them to one another so they may hunt and/or mate. Being young he cannot consciously use it yet, however this does not diminish his ability. He comes across as having a powerful presence, charismatic, attractive, alluring and dangerous. It also makes him highly aware of any psychic happenings around him.

He is drawn to violence and finds it a perfect expression of his race. The more violent, the more desirable the person is, either as an ally, mate, or possibly target for assimilation. However directionless wrath and destruction are something that he frowns on, finding them distasteful.

Equipment

The basic ability package for his people is one that they all begin with. However they have a form of active evolution that takes positive traits from other species to build into their own skills. Xvander is still quite young and has a limited set at the moment, but he hopes to grow with leaps and bounds in such a... genetically diverse setting such as Gambits.

He is still quite young and mostly restricted to the human form that he has taken, however he has already expanded on the abilities of the mere human. Pushing the peak of strength, stamina, durability, and dexterity along with his own regenerative capabilities and senses have made him formidable to any who expect a normal human. However when he exerts himself in any way his inhuman nature begins to reveal itself: His skin starts turning lighter to shades of white while his veins become more pronounced and instead of red are black to the naked eye. As he matures he will be able to control this, however he is still young.

To acquire an ability he must first observe the target and get a sample of their genetic makeup. His primary method of sampling is a sharp nail and a scraping of skin, blood, or even hair. While others of his species seduce others with their mind or bodies he is not yet powerful enough, in his own mind, to leave the sampling up to chance. From there it takes time to replicate the DNA within his body to usable quantities. If the ability is compatible he ads it to his general matrix. He is not automatically proficient with any ability he gains and must also spend time practicing his newly acquired ability.

A gift of his progenitor his has a battle form to help him survive if things get dire enough for him that even his enhanced shell cannot withstand. His battle form lets him briefly draw on his ancestral DNA to its fullest potential and his body shifts into a thing of war and death. However the transformation is painful and short lived, he cannot maintain it for long or else his energy expires and he may die.

History

Xvander comes from a powerful race of creatures spawned from the toxic pits of a distant massive world, located deep within Wild Space, where the gravity is several orders of magnitude greater than on Earth. The creatures of that planet were forced to cope with the lack of sustenance by being able to hunt down any and all sources of food and being able to exact every last nutrient out of them. From this toxic quagmire arose a particularly vicious species, the Uradu. Though small in number they more than make up for it with their natural abilities and diabolical cunning.

The Uradu developed from a symbiotic species that would live among the large predators of the world using their own abilities in conjunction with the hunters. However when they developed their own sapience being second fiddle would not do. They began integrating their bodies with those of the predators, taking them over, eating them from the inside out and, inadvertently, taking their genetic material with them, bonding it to their own. From there the Great Culling began and the Uradu spread. They began devouring every species on the planet, multiplying and absorbing. Each generation more powerful than the last incorporating the various species benefits into their own. It took only a single solar cycle, some 12 Earth years, before the planet was almost entirely barren of life, save the Uradu.

There was a brief period of peace, about ten whole minutes, before the Second Great Culling began and the Uradu turned on each other. This battle was much longer lasting and brutal that the first. Their abilities multiplied as they devoured their own kind and only the most intelligent and cunning were able to adapt to the influx of genetic material without becoming overwhelmed by the information stored within their genes and going berserk.

After 100 cycles, 1200 years, there were only six Great Families, and the original numbers that covered the world has been reduced by more than 99.999%, leaving a population of roughly 50,000 globally. Each family is the direct descendant of the still living Head of their line, the sole remaining survivors of the First Generation: Mekyl, Clombak, Rith-eon, Pilomak, Zevquori, and Ravlyn. Though there are minor Houses they are subservient to the Great Houses. An uneasy truce exists between them with complicated politics existing between each House. The leadership of the race transferring from one House to another every cycle.

They are still the ruthless hunters and given that all other species were eliminated the only source of sustenance was cannibalism. Until the Visitors arrived. An alien exploratory vessel investigating the possibility of mining the apparently barren world, unaware of the intricate network of volcanic and natural tunnels under their landing spot. Their ship's weight collapsed one such tunnel as they were exiting their ship and in an instant they were beset by the Uradu. A particularly quick thinking Uradu took one of the prospectors prisoner and spirited him away to the court of the leading Great House at the time, Ravlyn. The prospector was tortured for information, however they did not have a translator and communication was impossible. Impossible until one member of the court, one Jerash, an older and highly skilled member of the court, offered to merge with the alien and see what could be gleaned though the process.

It was an unmitigated success as Jerash learned all that there was to know from the prospector, taking all his memories and skills for his own, even taking on the alien's form as his own until he chose to reject it. With his newfound knowledge he was able to take a few likewise cunning members of the court and enter the ship, merging and assimilating the remaining crew. With their queen's permission they left the planet with a raiding party. By acting as a ship in distress they were able to lure in several other ships, then the raiding party would take them over and take them back to the home world. From there the ships were dismantled and the Third Great Culling began. Spreading out across the planet with off world weapons and technology House Ravlyn conquered the other Great Houses. However even the off world weapons were unable to slay the immensely powerful First Generation. Ravlyn was able to capture them and have them moved off world with the captured ships and each left on a different moon where they would have to hibernate just to survive the lack of atmosphere. Thus Ravlyn became the only free member of the First Generation and the defacto queen of the entire race of Uradu.

From there the first great setback of their kind. A raiding party attacked an outpost on the edge of Wild Space and were unprepared for the technologically advanced response. This new race outstripped those that had first been overcome by the Uradu and they were slaughtered. A single survivor was found floating in space, hibernating in the vacuum by an unsuspecting mineral transport ship and the survivor was able to get back to the home world. More incidents like that occurred until there were few of their captured ships remaining, as yet unable to build ships of their own, though the industry, built by slaves and designed by those who had consumed various engineers and those few ship designers they had been able to capture.

Ravlyn's policies changed and the infiltration began. It was clear that thy were not as technologically advanced as other races and there was only so much knowledge they could take at any time. So they would wait and build their power slowly. Raiding parties became more cunning and would take live prisoners to the home world as slaves, though few survived the harsh environment. The rumors of this warlike race have spread among those that venture into the torturous area known as Wild Space and those unlucky ones who come looking for them are rarely heard from again.

-Personal Bio-
The creature now known as Xvander was spawned for the sole purpose of spying on the area known as the Multiverse Convergence. A rocky pod was made to contain and protect his larval form until he descended through the atmosphere near Wing City and crashed into the coast. He swam through the waters, devouring what fish and prey he could, for nutrients refusing to absorb the genetic material of what were clearly 'lower lifeforms' until he came across a human, a man by the name of Alexander Price, a weapons dealer. He had happened to swim into the private beach of the man and none of the man's guards gave the small inky shape, mostly invisible against the rocks any thought. Until Alexander shouted in alarm that he was being attacked. He went down and by the time he was pulled ashore he had slipped into a coma. The only sign of attack a bite had been taken out of his leg, though one of the guards said that they saw something slithering into his leg shortly before he blacked out.

Alexander spent two weeks in a hospital while doctors tried to diagnose what was wrong with him. All the while Xvander grew, spreading along his neural pathways and devouring them, replacing them with his own cells, absorbing the genetic material of the man, infesting his brain and gaining his knowledge and skills. After two weeks all of Alexander's core had been replaced and Xvander woke in his place. He immediately went about a new and aggressive business strategy, eliminating other local weapons dealers, his predatory mentality not allowing any competition. In the weeks following he has completely replaced the man's every cell with his own aggressive ones.

However he has received his directive and has moves his business into Wing City proper, using what connections he can gain to gather genetic material from across the multiverse. Some he takes for himself, trying to increase his own power. Other samples he sends to his homeworld through a currier.

So begins...

Xvander turned to look over his shoulder as she appeared behind him. Hmm, a dangerous ability there, something for him to remember for next time. He grinned as she disappeared. "Until next time, Ada. I look forward to continuing this conversation." He could mean the words, or perhaps the aborted kiss, or something else entirely. "Hmm," he smiles and turns back to his drink, mentally going over the conversation and actions, analyzing all that happened for next time.

Xvander frowned as he slowly came to a calculated, true, and wholly unacceptable conclusion. He would lose. If it were to come down to a battle he would lose against Ada. He had advantages, true, immunity to her magic among them, and that was something he could capitalize on, but she had more abilities that he wasn't aware of, he was certain. He was stronger, but with her teleportation she was infinitely faster. None of the mental abilities of hi people had manifest yet. She was older and had more experience battling than he did. He had his trump, but if that didn't work he would lost entirely, and quite probably die. That wasn't such an objectionable ending, to die at the hand of a superior predator. However he had plans, far reaching goals, and the thought of death now was not something he could allow. He tapped a nail against the bar top as he sipped his cognac and contemplated how to deal with the issue at hand.

Xvander turns as the minotaurs begin to battle. "I know this tune," he chuckles a little before signing and downing the rest of his cognac. He stood and slowly put his jacket back on, adjusting it a little until it settled perfectly onto his shoulders once more. "Quite a fun place," he looks over at the creatures and contemplates trying to get a genetic sample from them, however they did not appear to have any particular desire to grow horns, and they didn't look like they had any other advantages that his purloined DNA didn't already grant him. He walked past them instead, getting out and slipping into his convertible and speeding of to his property where he stayed.

Xvander's convertible roars down the street as he swerves dangerously between cars both in his land and oncoming traffic. His silver Aileron Spyder is sporting several scratches and dings where he has literally scraped by the other cars to avoid accidents. The damage is minor but the car is a rather rare model so repairs for even that minor damage will run him several million dollars. He pays the damage no mind as he streaks into a parking spot at Gambits. As his car jerks to a halt one may see that his normally tan skin is ashen and blotches of black veins can easily be seen especially on his hands where he is gripping the wheel tightly. His skin tone gradually returns to normal, save for around his eyes. His normally grey green eyes are stained black and he can feel it. He hisses in frustration and digs a pair of sunglasses out from his glove compartment to hide the inhuman trait, not that anyone in Gambits was likely to notice, but he still had no desire to draw attention to himself. He takes a moment to compose himself before getting out of the car, he is wearing a coal grey button up and black slacks, a curious buckle-less leather belt synced around his middle. His aura is nearly palpable as he enters the tavern, an oppressive feeling accompanied by a tang of ozone left in his wake as he makes his way to the bar. He is so preoccupied with his thoughts that he does not immediately spot Ada, the reason for his coming to the bar, but when he does he make his way over to her. He stops at the seat next to her and with rough jerking motions orders a rather atypical drink from the tough screen, a glass of pure nitric acid.

Xvander glances at Ada his expanded aura letting him sense her in a new way that he hadn't been able to in their prior meetings. His scrutiny causes it to wash over her before pulling back around his body. The skin around his eyes crinkles like dry paper and the black veins throb visibly around the edges of his sunglasses. "Not tonight, no," his voice is harsher, like someone who has been yelling and left their voice raw. The clear acid in the glass trembles and the glass cracks slightly as he reaches for it. He frowns but no further damage is done as he grasps it. Bringing the glass to his lips he sips the concoction, and his lips stain black for a moment as the acid eats through his skin before rapidly healing and repairing the damage done.

Xvander sets his glass down slowly as he contemplated how to answer her. "I sought... evolution. And active evolution is not easy." He smirks a little and rolls his shoulders, they pop and he winces slightly as the joints work against one another briefly. His body repairing after the ordeal he went through. The acid is absorbed and works its way through his system, his body uses it to eat away at damaged tissue and defunct organs, forcing his body to adapt, to grow stronger, better. "I had a bitter realization last night, and so I sought to better myself in the manner of my people." He knew he was giving bits away, but he enjoyed teaing her with thee tidbits. In truth he was probably not as bad off as it seemed, and he would recover marginally stronger, faster, and tougher, and perhaps some other portions of his DNA might become active to his benefit, or detriment, it was difficult to tell with evolution.

Xvander frowns and clicks his tongue. "Ah, you think merely in terms of harm and killing. This language is very limiting. My people have more than 100 words for battle. For food, territory, in anger, sadness, mindless rage or boredom. The fights between rivals, friends, lovers each have their own word, and meaning. There are words for the different fights, over honor, politics, to answer a challenge or make one. In more than half of these the word for winner is the same as survivor, and the word for loser is 'dead'. More often than not, permanently." He looks at her and his frown returns before shrugging and clicking his teeth. "It is a cultural thing, It does not translate well."

the alien in human skin shrugs and grins slowly. "Sometimes, more often the defeated will offer something to be allowed to live, or there is something claimed by the victor. If deputes go on too long an elder may intervene." The implication there is that the elder will not talk to the parties but will join in the violence which will end immediately after. They grow more powerful as they age, not weaker. He does not understand why she seems offput by the fighting. The language implies that battle is negative, however he sees it as a way of strength, the way to advance is through conflict.

Xvander sips the acid and contemplates how to answer her without giving away what he has gained, the truth, but not the whole truth then. He smiles and sets his glass down. "My people have a wide range of abilities depending on what focus they make. I am confident in my physical assets, but I thought it was time to awaken the mental aspects." Hinting, but no true answer. In truth it was very risky for him to do, which explains why he is currently so weakened. He is quite young to be trying to draw on the mental abilities of his people, and the strain is having a very visible effect.

Xvander smiles at her. "I very nearly was a politician, but I lucked out and got sent here." He smirks a bit until he feels her aura against his own. He scowls and his aura flares up stronger, the smell of ozone spiking as it twists, deflecting her probe while launching his own. If it could be seen there would be a central mass centered around him but many tendrils extending in many directions, several pushing at her aura from several directions. However the counter has left him breathless and after only a few moments the aura snaps back around him until it barely extends a few inches beyond his skin. He hisses a curse and downs the rest of the acid in a single go. A drop escapes his lips and leaves a trail down along his chin, eating away at his skin to show the black blood beneath briefly before it heals back once more.

Xvander leans ever so slightly into Ada's touch and grins at her. "It is barely awoken, we shall see how it develops," his voice is a dry hiss. His fingers fumble with the touch screen a bit as he is obviously weakened by exerting it in such a way, raw and untrained. FInally he manages to order a whiskey and sits back, waiting for its arrival. He look over at Ada and smiles at a thought. "You may even be welcome in my home, with abilities such as yours. And safe in your own way as well," he does not elaborate as to how her magical properties would protect her from being assimilated into his race for her genetic advantages.

Xvander chuckles as well and lifts his glass a bit in a toast to her before downing the entire thing and ordering a refill. "How about perhaps you tell me something of yourself first. Here I am dropping hints about myself and my people all evening and don't give you a chance to do the same," his tone becoming flippant and casual as he forces himself to relax and let his body heal rather than continuing to push it harder and harder. The skin around his eyes has already started to return to normal, though he can feel that his eyes are still tinted as black as Ada's own. He leans in a little, peering over his glasses so she can see them and grins at her. "Tell me about yourself," putting an inflection in his voice, similar in effect to the magic she tried to use on him in the days previous, trying to draw the answer out of her.

Xvander scoffs lightly at that. "Demon, yes, but I knew that already. You positively reek of magic, bone deep and potent as an ocean of blood. Your magical nature alone would protect you among my people, your abilities would make you... desirable." He does not bother asking for her real name, using his inflection would probably be useless in getting that as she had just proven. He will need to work on that as well. So much to do, but he was excited at the prospect in any case. "You aren't from this world, perhaps not even this plane. But that is the limit o what I know of you really. Tell me something that might make revealing my home to you worth while." His challenge lingers in the air as he pick up his refilled whiskey and sips it before reaching up to remove his sunglasses, his eyes having finally returned to 'normal'.

And even I would have a great deal of difficulty explaining where it is, though I suppose a good hint would be a start, and give you plenty of information. I doubt it will mean much to you in the long run." He shrugged a little before his look turned deadly serious. And these are things held dear by my people. So I swear to you on pain of eternal undeath to never reveal what you tell to me," he gives her a pointed look, waiting for her to make a similar promise so that the pact may be sealed. Xvander slices into his palm and his black blood runs down along his hand. He grips her hand tightly and grins. "Indeed it is," he grits his teeth as he feels her blood mingle with his, reveling in the pain of this bond, his blood reacts and rejects her sizzling and smoking a bit, but the symbolism of exchanging blood has been fulfilled. He releases her hand and after a moment his wound seals. "A proper introduction then," he straightens and looks into her eyes. "I am Xvander of House Zevquori, of the Uradu," he grins broadly, proud of his heritage. "I come from a planet deep within Wild Space and nearly impossible for an outsider to navigate. I was sent here to spy and gather DNA from those that span the multiverse so that we may evolve."

Xvander chuckles. "Well I certainly hope tat you find me entertaining." He gives a small mock bow. He straightens and nods slowly as he looks her over. "Yes, a demon queen would be quite welcome among my people, and should you prove good sport I am sure that some of my kith and kin should well desire to battle a demon hoard when your general tries to overthrow you," he agrees that it is what is expected in that position. And he has much evolving to do, probably a few decades up to a century before he can come close to matching her at full strength, though he is confident that the father of his line could deal with her. He was about to say more but he suddenly felt his new aura sense alert him and he whipped around, grasping the tendril that reached for him. He hissed at it and looked at the man it came from. "Foolishness," he hissed before yanking on it hard to either tear the tendril away or pull Pariah closer, either would do for him.

Xvander twits his arm wrapping the tendril around it before digging nails into his own arm and letting the tendril seek out the wound. The parasite finds it and immediately starts wriggling into the cuts intent on trying to assimilate him, but his own biology is much stronger than the mindless tentacle and it is absorbed into himself instead. He looks at the man, concentrating and trying to feel what is in him. "Sure, why not?" he murmurs in response to the question and walks towards him. "You're dying," he declares after a moment. "It is killing you. Why not remove it? Cut out the rotted flesh, let the pathetic creature die."

Xvander looks down at the mass of converted flesh with distaste. Creatures weak as that were nearly extinct on his planet, save for a few that were kept as pets by the eccentric or experimented on them. "As things stand you will die, slowly, painfully, the parasite consuming your body for food while keeping you alive until you can't withstand it any more and it kills you. Then it will seek out a new host, a new person to burrow into." He glances at Ada as she moves next to him. "You might want to take her offer. I can only offer to rip it out of you and probably kill you, certainly leave you more brain damaged."

Xvander steps to the side clenching his left arm causing black veins to spread along his hands and arm as he forced his physiology to change to his will. It was a fairly minor change from his perspective but given his own youthful limitations it would have to be enough. His nails extended and little holes opened in them. He stepped towards the side of the former man. "Die well," he jabs his left arm forward, nails extended, intent on injecting the man with a particular acidic formula made from within his body. Perchloric Acid tended to be explosive when mixed with organic compounds and was fairly standard as a form of combat between his people and rarely fatal to one of them, but would probably do a good deal of damage to the parasite infected human.

Xvander gnashed his teeth as the blow missed, instead spraying the acid from his fingertips to get it out of his system before it ignited his own body. He turns to Ada and shrugs a little. "There are orders concerning things like this," he motions towards the man consumed and feels the resistance of the air suddenly meet his arm. He glance around to find the source and feels Isobel drawing on magic. He lashes out with his own aura, an impact of will and mental energies to shatter the wall between him and his new prey. "Besides, it will be good exercise." Black veins spread along his spine and out along his body causing his muscles to momentarily bulk before tightening down, seeming to make him slimmer as they became more efficient tightly coiled springs of power.

Xvander was at a higher evolution than the parasite and a flame wall meant little to him as a deterrent. He crouched and his muscles creaked as they tightened, suddenly springing into the air and twisting, he landed, crouched momentarily on the ceeling, ust long enough to spring off again, this time directly at Pariah. With any luck an attack rebounded off the ceiling like that would not be expected. Two short lances of black bone extended through his palm, coated in glistening black blood he tried to impale the infected man, pin him to the floor so he could deliver a finishing blow.

Xvander felt the laser etching into his face, burning through his skin and making his black blood boil as he landed on the man, satisfied as he felt the one blade sink into Pariah's arm and he twisted his arm breaking off the short land leaving him pinned like an insect to the floor. He raised his other arm aiming to bring it down as a strike through the eye and brain, however light was faster and he was suddenly blind in one eye and pain was searing into his mind. He flinched back and with a blinded eye he stumbled as his leg got caught in an unseen chair. With Isobel's attack he felt like he had been struck by lightning and his muscles locked and he fell, the tight, powerful muscles expanding and causing his skin to rip around them, black blood oozing out. He grit his teeth and made no noise as he struggled to come to his feet again, his skin tearing more with each movement. It would take days for him to recover from this at least.

Xvander growled a dual tone challenge as he rose but he could feel his bones starting to give way under the pressure from the enhanced muscles. Muscle was easy to enhance, bones less so, clearly he knew what he would be doing soon. He lurched to his feet. He stumbled half blinded to where he had pinned Pariah, the bone spike still lodged in the floor. He grabbed it and yanked it out, twisting and nearly falling in the process but refusing to drop to a knee even as his skin hung off the overly bulked muscles. He couldn't let them release yet because he knew he would not be mobile once the effect was released. He turned to Ada and tried to contemplate her, but it was hard to think with the compounded pain. He reached up slowly and felt for his right eye that had nearly had the laser shoved into it. The damage was grotesque, but survivable, even reparable given time. "Home," he rasped. "Four miles outside city, West of the Space Port, by the coast, white spire." And with that he fell to his knees and collapsed onto the floor. His muscles suddenly seeming to deflate to less than they were even before.
