The Multiverse » Groups » Terran Thieves' Guild

Some people feel misfortune breeds community, and that's pretty accurate. Only the naive believe it pulls together the human spirit for good causes though.

Description

"People can call us rats all they want. They can spit in our direction, and think they're so much better than us because they 'earn' what they have. Let me tell you all something, cash is cash, and we earn it just like they do. We just don't pretend to not be fucking people over while we do it. Remember that."
-Conrad "Sandy" Dorn, a Footpad.

Official Name: The Terran Thieves' Guild.

Other Name(s): Wing City Rats, VL blackhoods, Terran Scum, Robbin' Hoods, etc.

National Color(s): Black and gold.

National Slogan: "We don't ask, we take."

"If I've told you chucklefucks once, I've told you a thousand times. Killin' ain't good for business. Builds more heat than just a smash and grab. Cuts down on repeat customers too. I'll say it real slow so you can get it through your crack-addled skulls. No. Killing. Unless. There is. No. Other. Options. And frankly if you've fuckin' backed yourself into a corner that can only be escaped with a bloodbath, you better be happy to fork over your cut for the cover up. Morons."
- Gary "Shitbird" Freeman, a Hacker.

Key Guild Members:
There is always a collective of three Guild Masters, known as the Lucky Men. Cheesy, they know, but it fits. They organize and over see the big jobs, recruitment, cover-ups, and getting hot items off-world.

Under them are the Watchers, Listeners, and Fishermen. Respectively though positions entail keeping an eye on law enforcement and bribery/threats, information collection, high value pick-pocketing and kidnapping.

"Keep it simple, stupid. Ear to the wall, feet to the ground, and hands to their pockets. Getting rich is something you can do over night, getting rich and not getting murdered isn't it. You might think it's stupid now, but every wallet adds up. They don't call it 'The Grind' for nothing. Trust me.
-Yvus "Shifty" Krane, a Fishermen.

Domain: The Slumwalks

Population: Pretty small. Under fifty strong at the moment. Although most of the entire Slumwalks is what you'd call "sympathetic" to the cause.

Major Race: Terran.

Population Breakdown: You try doing a census count on thieves.

Language(s) Spoken: Terran, common tongues, most branches of Human-heavy languages as well as Knack.

"There's two schools of thought about what makes a Heist successful. Group A, or Fuckwits as I call them, believe a heist can only be successful if you steal everything not nailed down. Group B, or people who're still alive, believe a success is taking everything you can, but making damn sure you get out alive and without too much heat so you can spend it. Pick which group your in, but let me tell you. Dying with all the cash on Terra doesn't mean shit compared to living pretty well off. Think about it."
- Jesus "Goldeneye" Rojas, one of the Lucky Men.

Religion Practiced: There's no true religion among the Guild, officially, but plenty of member will request a little bit of luck, or a little extra zip in their step from the Lucky Man.

He's an old Slumwalk legend. Some rich guy from the surface who moved down there back when it was a homeless camp. Supposedly he wandered the Slumwalks for a decade, never getting stabbed or shot, never having his things stolen, and always keeping his shoes clean. Part of the story goes if you ever saw him back then, and locked eyes with him he would either smile, flashing solid golden teeth or frown, showing rotted black teeth. Smile meant good things were going to happen to you for the rest of your life, frown meant you were going to die soon.

Nobody knows if there's any truth to the whole thing, or where it came from, but the local Thieves sort of adopted him as the ultimate symbol of Luck and guile.

"Pour a shot out for the dead, then remind yourself the only difference between you and a corpse is that you moved faster, thought ahead. Don't forget it, thieves only die when they fuck up."
- Karl "The Grey", an Infiltrator.

Primary Tech: Lock-picks, E-keys, brute-forcers, and disguise fabricators.

Secondary Tech: Chameleon suits, grip-pads, zero-G simulators and Ghostware. All of these are very, very rarely used. Small in number, even smaller in working order, and true prizes.

Tertiary Tech: Gateways.

"It's pretty simple. People take what they want all the time. They only complain and punish those who happen to be at a "lower" station than them. That's why they hate us. We're at the bottom, taking from the top. They can't stand the thought that we're just smarter than them, just better. It's not just about making money, it's about taking money."

- Dan "The Man" McCallins, a Fence.
