Description
The Oberon have existed on the planet of Klendath for around 600 years, forming a variety of smaller desert societies that eventually united to form the Colonial Union, the modern organized government. Many of their advancements as a race can be attributed to either improving upon or using technology found in the Red Desert, a radioactive wasteland far, far south of occupied areas where a crashed megaship can be viewed from orbit.
The Oberon are split into two distinct groups, those being the K'Lath, those who dwell on Klendath and are known for their attributes such as heat resistance and darker skin tone, and the Spacers, which lack a formal name but are the smaller percentage of the Oberon that live in orbiting space stations, often working on technological advancements or studying their system's surroundings, and set apart from the K'Lath by their lighter complexion and inability to cope in the harsher climate of the planet for extended periods of time. The two races are further split by their languages, K'Lath, the language named for it's desert people, and Oberon, named for the spacefarers. There's a distinct vocabulary and pronunciation between the two. Most Oberon speak both languages, but also speak universal Common, although it is viewed as more respectful to speak to a person by their native tongue.
The Oberon lack incredible sophistication, and have not invented artificial gravity or built massive ships, mostly due to the fact of their short existence on Klendath and even shorter experience in space travel. Most of the technology is developed from scavenged remains of the Ri'ig Toro, or Mother Vehicle, the aforementioned occupant of the red desert.
