With the establishment of Karl Gosta's Horizon Principle, one of the first efforts dedicated was the discovery of planets, life and habitats beyond Scatter. To facilitate this, the greatest minds of Scatter were pressed in to service for the betterment of humanity, yet as the decades ground on and the brightest of Scatter's universities toiled, the sciences and comprehension simply weren't present. That was until the expansion of quantum physics and the discovery of tangible methods to create transuranium (atomic elements with a number higher than 100) materials with the advent of nanotechnology. With this, it was possible to engineer whole structures composed of these materials, one of these was the Sergei-Carter Engine, a device capable of eliminating the quantum inhibitions of faster-than-light travel with the creation of specifically oscillated fields of physical immateria. These technologies have allowed the Coalition, and many other Scatterran nations, the ability to access this quasi-dimension (dubbed 'Nospace' for the lack of physical measurement between locations) has allowed Scatterrans to reach far beyond the limitations of other people.
Secondary Tech: Electromagnetic Weaponry;
Replacing chemical propellants, and basic particle weaponry, in the 22nd century as the dominant weapon of Scatterran conflict, electromagnetic firearms have become a standard feature of technology in the Coalition. Utilizing supermetals, modified at molecular and atomic scales to produce effective propulsion and capacity, the production of Scatterran EM weaponry has been elevated to a near art-form in the culture of UCON. While power and efficiency provided by EM weaponry allows much better damage, the scales of power in EM weaponry do not result in the expected destruction and power that was science-fiction material before the advent of this technology.

At the turn of the 21st century, science had began a startling acceleration on the planet of Scatter; with the establishment of Gosta's Principle, the Horizon Principle ('human intelligence is as limitless as the sciences of reality'), one of the first science-fiction materials recognized as reality was nanotechnology. In the centuries since then, Scatterrans have advanced to a near technological singularity with the point of nanomachines. Capable of dissemblance into the respective sub-molecular materials, to the basic atomic structures, the efficiency and capability of Scatterran nanomachines are what allows the Coalition to create ultra-pure alloys and materials, with this technology expanding to nearly every facet of production, refinement and infrastructure in UCON.

Known as the cutting edge of the Apparatus spear, the Marine Infantry Corps are the primacy and most elite of the Coalition's vast professional military. Undefeated in battle, unparalleled in training and uncontested in ferocity during combat, it is the Marines that the enemies of the Coalition go to bed fearing at night. Though one of the youngest outfits in the Apparatus, the esprit de corps of the Marine Infantry are some of the vastest measures of the Coalition's diaspora. While made up of volunteers, a small minority of the Marine Infantry are draftees and conscripts; yet uniformity in training produces the sharpest, deadliest and by far most professional fighting unit in the Multiverse. Composed primarily of Scatterrans it has fought in every major and minor engagement the Coalition has ever undertaken. From the Battle of Mataakul in 2591 to the Terran Conflict only three years later, to the First Galactic War, the Marine Infantry have fought died and killed for the survival of the Coalition, and democracy in the vast Multiverse.
