A tall cloaked figure edged his way along the path down the mountains. Powerful gales and blistering whips of snow and ice snapped at the brown cloak that shielded his body from the elements. Sheodin peeked out from beneath his hood and inspected the storm through his squinted feline eyes. His thick grey and silver mane whipped in the wind. The Aryite mage growled and turned towards the cliff wall.

Sheodin pressed his furred paw-hand against the wall. His eyes flashed white like twin stars as a blanket of flames engulfed his hand. The flames surged and roared. Snow, ice, and stone flowed along the path as the inferno bored into the mountain. He closed his fist, causing the flames to dissipate. A dull crimson glow resonated from the foggy cave.

The Arch-mage stepped into the newly carved cave. As he walked into the tunnel, the thick fog and steam fell onto the floor as snow. His makeshift shelter continued for several yards before coming to an end. Sheodin waved his hand and a small fire materialized on the floor.

"This is a good place to rest for the night and wait out the storm..."

Nebuchadnezzar let's out a sharp whistle the wind and rain beating on him as he hears something running towards him. He turns to see a very soaked looking black lab as he grins, "There you are Den!" he remarks as he kneels down and pats his best friend on his head. "Come on...we need to find a place to wait out this storm, didn't think it would be this bad." he comments to the dog as he shades his eyes a bit, his flaxen hair plastered to his head as his wise ocean eyes look around carefully. Denmark looks around before he let's out a bark. "There is a tunnel in the mountain we can rest in there for a bit" Denmark relays to Neb who grins. "Good find boy, this is why you are the best mate." he comments with a chuckle and pats his head before entering, the sound of the rain dampening a bit as he looks around. "Hope the ships at sea are all right..." he murmurs as he walks forward, Den following him. "Wonder how far this tunnel goes..." he whispers to himself as Denmark walks along side him.

Sheodin sat against the wall of the freshly made cavern. His wool hood was pulled over his mane and snout, shielding his face from the chill breeze that drifted into the chamber. The fire continued to burn on the floor, yet there was no wood or thistles that kept the flames lit.

The Aryite glanced towards the entranced and a low growl rumbled from his throat. Sheodin could sense another presence following his trail. It was human... a boy? No, his aura was old... Much older than an ordinary human. Timeless, in fact. He flared his nostrils. There was a canine with him too.

Nebuchadnezzar blinks as he spies the fire light, "Seems we are not the only one seeking shelter here from the storm, mate." he remarks to Denmark as he walks closer, spying a large figure, hearing the growl as he stops in his tracks. "Hello mate, we mean you no harm. Just seeking shelter...mind if we join you?" he asks as Denmark sniffs the air, "something smells like a cat...do hope the cat doesn't mine my presence...I am far beyond chasing them, that is a a pup thing to do." Denmark relays to Neb, causing him to smile. "I think I recall you chasing one last decade mate." he sends back. "That one sneaked up on me and does not count." Denmark quickly sends back.

"And um if you have a cat with you, well Denmark my pal, doesn't chase them. He is very well behaved." Nebuchadnezzar adds, not able to see the figure clearly as he rubs his arms a bit to keep warm.

"Greetings to you, human." Sheodin rumbled in response to Nebechadnezzar as he tilted his head to face him. The Aryite's whiskers, silver white mane, and azure eyes were clearly visible with the firelight. "And I suppose you could say I have a cat with me." the lion man chuckled.

"Please, sit." he continued. Sheodin gestured to the ground next to him as a mound of rock vaguely in the shape of a chair materialized. "I was just about to prepare supper."

Nebuchadnezzar eyes widen as he spies the being to be well...a lion like being. "I am sorry, I should stare...your appearance caught me off guard Sir." he says with a bow in apology. He walks next to him he sits down, unafraid of him he did not sense evil from him and Denmark gave no indication to be afraid. "Magic user?" He asks indicating the chair he now sat on. "Must be useful." he comments with a grin.

Denmark plods next to him as he flops down, "Oh and I am Neb, which is Ben backwards and short for Nebuchadnezzar." Neb remarks with a grin. "And this is Den, which is Ned backwards and short for Denmark, where I met him." he introduces as Denmark nods his head in greeting. "Storm catch you off guard as well?"Neb asks him as he looks at the fire with his old wise eyes.

"Yes..." he nodded. "I suppose my appearance would be a bit peculiar to you, lad. Normally I travel among your people in a more inconspicuous form, but I did not expect company tonight. I am a magic user - a well renowned one among my people, in fact. This storm did come rather abruptly... The elements have been behaving rather erratically. That is actually part of why I am here. It is my hope that during this pilgrimage I will better understand the nature of Terra's magic."

"It is good to meet you, Nebuchadnezzar and Denmark." the Aryite nodded to them both while reaching into his pack. "You may call me Sheodin."

"I shouldn't be too surprised...I have been here for a while now so I should get used too it, I am just used to only seeing Humans." he says looking down. He did not mention that he was also used to seeing ghosts in graveyards or Angels, but he does look like he had held back so information.

"Oh aye, it came suddenly, and yes they have been...the seas have been restless from what I have seen on the docks...and I have seen..." he shakes his head, stopping himself as he changes the subject. "I am no magic user just a simple Dock worker and traveler." Nebuchadnezzar comments. "Pleasure to meet you Mister Sheodin." he remarks as Denmark sits up and offers the lion his paw to shake. "Indeed it is a pleasure to meet him, and look he hasn't talked about flybutters or milk or things most cats talk about." Denmark relays to Neb making him chuckle. "Heh seems Denmark likes you."

Sheodin smirked and gingerly took the dog's paw in his own massive paw-hand. He returned his attention to Neb. "This world is scarred... The elements are calling out like a wounded animal. I can hear their whispers on the wind and feel the groan of the earth in my bones, but I cannot fully decipher what they are saying. This is why I wish to better understand this world's magic - so I can align myself with it and properly commune with the elements."

The Aryite removes a small pouch from his pack. He opens it and retrieves a small crystal that was the size of an acorn. Sheodin tossed it into the fire.

"You do not seem the typical human, Nebuchadnezzar." he continued. "I believe you are much older than you appear... I know this because you possess the eyes of someone that has lived long passed his expected time - the same eyes I see in the mirror. Tell me, lad... How did longevity befall you?"

Denmark moves his paw up and down as if shaking the paw before placing it on the ground. Nebuchadnezzar frowns at that, "Ten we should find out what is causing this place to be in such pain...and a way to heal it." he whispers. "I pray you find a way o properly commune with the elements and if I can help well I will try." Nebuchadnezzar offers as he watches him throw a crystal into the fire, "What was that?" he asks curiously his eyes clear and looking like he wants to learn.

They cloud as soon as Sheodin mentions he does not seem...typical. A tired smile on his face as he closes his eyes. "You have Keen eyes Mister Sheodin...keener than most I have met." He whispers. "I...was on a ship when the Captain cursed the world and God himself." He whispers, "The blasphemous words caught the attention of a heavenly being and...well he cursed those on it, I was spared roaming with the crew on that ship for eternity..." he explains, "Well Denmark and I were, we were the only two pure hearted beings on it." he offers as he opens his ocean blue eyes. "So instead of the seas, we roam the land, going where we might be needed. And...leaving after we do what we can...before we are forced to see our friends age and die while we stay this age." he murmurs. "It isn't a bad life though! We see many things and we will always have each other...we just have to be careful on the sea." he adds as Denmark rests his head on Nebs' lap.

Sheodin nods as he stares into the fire. "It is very similar to my own tale. You and Denmark share a similar relationship as my brother and I, because we too must share the curse of immortality. It was roughly a thousand or so of your years ago and Neodin and I faced the Dark Emperor of the Erebon Empire, may he forever rot in Tartaruz. He laid siege to our city with his seemingly endless legions of darkness. However, with Leolik's divine grace and intervention we were able to push them back until we came face to face with the Emperor and his generals..."

The Aryite waved his hand over the fire and the flames shifted and danced. They took the form of six figures locked in combat. In one corner of the fire pit fought a demonic figure of wings and claws against a tall lion man wielding a large warhammer. Thick smoke formed the visage of a man clad in ebony armor that fought a figure formed of golden flame. They clashed ferociously with light and dark as two twin runeblades battled for supremacy. Finally, two titans battled in the center. One was formed of pure black smoke and ash and held two swords. The other puppet was crafted from searing and almost blinding white flame that stood in stark contrast to the deep darkness of the previous.

"I fought with Got'mog the Cruel, a demon created by the Emperor that had led most of the campaign against my people. My brother, there, battled with Lord Narkaloxan - who had slain our mentor, the Sage-wizard Alphanius. Neodin carries the runeblade Leolik's Claw, which had been passed down to him from Alphanius. They say that Leolik himself crafted the blade at the beginning of time. In the hands of a righteous and faithful man, the sword is said to be unstoppable and unbreakable. Finally, the mighty Leolik had descended from on high to battle with the Dark Emperor personally."

"In the end," he continued as he swept his hand to the side, dissipating the puppets, "we succeeded. However, before the Emperor was sealed away beneath his mountain fortress... He placed a curse upon my brother and I... Neither time nor sickness will strike us down. Only until every drop of our blood has been spilled by the sword will we find rest from this world..."

Nebuchadnezzar listens sadly, "I am sorry for you...I know what it is like, though you are older than me by a couple centuries...still in my four hundreds as well as Denmark." He offers, "Captain Vanderdecken is the name of the man who cursed God...and I am hunted by him. Every time I go onto sea he can sense me...no matter what sea it is, he wants me to be tortured and brought to his crew. I am the Castaway...and...I would like to keep being that and not set foot on The Flying Dutchman ever again." he states with a shudder. "But I can speak now and understand any language that is spoken to me...I was mute before this." he explains to him watching the display with clear eyes.

"I...am not sure if blood loss can kill me? I haven't found that out and would rather not! Because if I die, Denmark me mate dies and I don't want to be the cause of his death...I want us to live and help people for a long time and once no one needs any help? We will go to Heaven." Nebuchadnezzar says.

"I don't know much in the way of demons of your place, or of mine...but I know what it is like to be hunted and to want it to stop. Even if the person or being is sealed away it...it doesn't really alleviate the worries that they will break free and hurt you...or hurt the ones you care about." Nebuchadnezzar offers.

"It is useful we get dreams when The Dutchman is close to us...or you getting headaches." Denmark sends him. "Aye that is useful Denmark, but that doesn't make the fear of him out there any less."

"Aye... There was one instance when the Emperor orchestrated a series of events that ended in him being released from his prison." he replied. "It was then we realized the depth of his malice... He did not simply want to rule or wipe out my people, but to destroy our entire world through powerful and ancient dark magic. So I petitioned the spirits of our world to lend me their strength. As my brother led our armies against his legions, I rode upon the back of one of the great Storm Eagles to where the Emperor attempted to carve the Rune of Sundering. I raised my warhammer, Thorizan, into the air and rode upon the raging tempest. Thorizan burned like a star as a powerful maelstrom of lightning, wind, rain, snow, fire, and cosmic energy surged around me. The raw life force of the world was being channeled through my weapon. Khroniktus itself rose to its defense. For a brief moment I could feel the Khroniktus's heart beat become my own. It was then that I brought Thorizan down onto the Emperor."

"Nevertheless, even with the raw power of the elements channeled through me was not enough to kill him. The blow did, however, stun him. He was distracted, you see, as the Rune of Sundering takes such precision and concentration that our minds could not comprehend. While he was dazed, my brother and I were able to imprison him in a block of enchanted ice and again cast him down into Tartaruz. He has been there ever since."

"Oh!" he exclaimed as he glanced at the fire. As they spoke, a spicket and pot had materialized over the flames. The spicket held something similar to a large turkey leg, except orange in color. "Supper is ready... Would you care for some?"

Nebuchadnezzar frowns, "He...sounds like a damned soul...Like the Captain." he whispers as he hugs his legs to him a bit. "We don't have magic in that sense on Earth...not that I have seen anyway. Most fear it, heck if...if people knew I was immortal back home...I would probably be locked away or worshiped, something I don't want either of. I am just me after all...no one else, just like Denmark is just Denmark." he comments as Denmark lifts his head up, looking a bit insulted, "Well you are just you...a magnificent you." Nebuchadnezzar teases.

"Is there any chance of the demon escaping?" he asks him. "I don't think he would be...happy with you if he does." he explains as he looks at the food. "Mister Sheodin, you are too kind...but yes I would like some food. I haven't eaten in a while if I am being honest here...neither has ol' Den."

Sheodin pulled a carving knife from his pack and sawed off a slice of the strange meat. "Aye... The Dark Emperor, may he forever rot in Tartaruz, was - is - evil, malice, dead, and destruction incarnate. He is worshiped by his subjects as a god, and he possesses enough power to justify the title. We know very little of where he came from or what his true goals are, but we know that it does not bode well for anyone in Creation." the Aryite paused as he placed the meat slice on a plate. He removed the lid from the pot and scooped out a substance similar to baked beans and placed it beside the meat. Sheodin handed the plate to Neb.

"I am sure, with time, he will find a way to escape." he continued. "He is still down there... plotting, brooding, and doing Leolik-knows-what else... If the Emperor has one advantage, it is time. Spells deteriorate. Kingdoms crumble. Armies wither and turn to dust. Evil, however, will always exist. As long as there is light, there is always darkness. The inverse is also true. It is my opinion that he placed this curse upon my brother and I so that he can destroy us himself when he breaks free."

The arch-mage removed the rest of the fowl leg from the spicket and tore off a chunk of it with his powerful lion-like maw.

Nebuchadnezzar nods, "Aye...he and the Captain would get along then. Both of them are...evil." he whispers as Denmark flops by him. He smiles as he takes the food, "Thanks Mate." he comments as he closes his eyes and offers a prayer for the food, his lips moving as he did so but no words escaped them.

"Evil...won't always exist. There are a few that are evil yes, and they will go on the Dutchman if they die on sea...however I believe that eventually good will prevail, yes with light there is darkness...but without Light we are all lost in the dark." he offers him as he pulls off some meat and tosses it to Den.

"In my years...as few as they are I have seen many good in people...and evil as well...war and peace. Wonder and horror as well... Heh I am probably one of the few on Earth who has seen carriages and cars, to Television and someone landing on the Moon! Things impossible are now plausible. Yet as much of awe I have seen...I have seen men killed for who they are and skin color...things that shouldn't be an issue..." he murmurs as he eats a bit of his food.

"Spells may fade, and he may escape...but people, good people will help make sure his evil does not spread very far or at all and stop him." he offers Sheodin.
